Iplehouse Discussion (YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID) Part 14

@MaleficentMrsofEvil All that great information. Yes, the website felt much weaker. It’s not surprising but it just goes to show that these small companies have a golden period and you have to order the best things when you see them. It’s great to talk to you again, btw.

 

I feel like it may also have something to do with the general cost of living skyrocketing over the last few years, as well as the poor currency conversion rates from USD to several other currencies, and increased customs fees. People just don't have the money to drop on big purchases as often any more, and the market is saturated with new artists (and sadly, more and more recasts tricking newbies with their cheaper prices).
I still have an Arvid on my wishlist, but I've been seriously considering selling a bunch of my floating heads, just to be able to justify spending at least two paychecks on this fella.

 

Yes, Iplehouse doesn't produce much "new" these days...it will be sad to think their best days are past.
And I still go back and get something that's been on my list, like this Raffine.

It was a bit sad to come back after a 5 year break to see that Iplehouse slowed down, stopped even, on producing new dolls/items. My first 7 or so dolls came from Iplehouse, and they're still my favorite company. At least half, if not more of my collection is Iplehouse.

I still have several Iplehouse dolls on my want list, but I've been trying to get everyone caught up on faceups, wigs, eyes, and clothing. I had several sitting blank during my hiatus. But I have my last few dolls with a faceup artist now! And all but one of them are Iplehouse.

RE: seemingly reduced offerings: Every couple of months, I've been going to Iplehouse and buying the clothes/shoes on my want list since they seem to disappear often. I'm thankful I got those Jesus-esque SID man sandals when I did, as they're no longer showing up on the site. Just have to make a pair of socks, and my guy will be set lol. I can sew, but my free time is limited and the full outfits that Iplehouse puts together are FAR more stylish than anything I could cobble together on my own.

One of my more recent acquisitions was the SID Bohemian Summer Set, which I dressed my Vanessa in today. Of course, you can't see most of the outfit in this picture but I swear she looks so good in it.

 

@Quirked - Yes, Iplehouse is still my favorite doll company. I still like the aesthetic of their bodies the best too... Your post made me go over and check out what clothing and shoes are still available. (They are having a small sale too!) I love to put things in my cart just for fun. Though, I might now purchase a few items I've wanted for a while.

The SID Bohemian Summer Set looks fabulous on your girl. I noticed that they now use a different fabric than when it first came out. So, I dug up a photo of the robe/cover-all to see the older fabric. What I can see of the new fabric it still is very nice.

While the underthings in that set are for SIDs, I did manage to put the robe on one of my HID ladies once...

@MaleficentMrsofEvil - Yes there's nostalgia with Iple for me also. Akando got me back into bjds and I haven't stopped collecting since. It's all good and they make me very happy.

@luluna i love my Raffine. She has heavy sophisticated makeup and she looks like a million.

 

@luluna - Thank you! Yes, the fabric is definitely different, and is noted on the product page. The original fabric is what made me fall in love with the set, but the new fabric is a sufficient substitute.

While the underthings are indeed for SIDs, my girl is an original body small bust and I still had a hard time fastening that little lace top on her. I thought it was going to fling itself across the room!

And your Raffine is gorgeous! I'd love to have an HID lady in my collection... but none of their face sculpts are 'just right' for the character I have in mind. Ashanti was my original choice, but she was discontinued during my hiatus. I keep hoping that Iplehouse may release someone new that would work, but...lol.

Right now it looks like they have the YID girls under the 'Limited' section available again, with the option to add an additional head. I think it means that the limited SIDW are next? I ordered my Vanessa and Dean through an event like this in July of last year.

I just adopted one of my dream dolls - an SID WS Claude!!! I'm so exited. My William the Wizard character can finally be shelled and it looks like I can finally use the fabric that I bought for this character back in 2011! Well, I need to by more faux suede but at least the velvet for his cloak is still untouched after all these years! I should have him home pretty soon. It's so incredible to finally be seeing this dream realized.

Does anyone have any Claude pics they want to share with me while I am waiting?

I've got so many dolls needing face ups, lol. It's a very long line for them and they will just have to wait. I always feel a deep sense of admiration when I see people talk about the face ups they are doing or plan to get right on and actually do! Fingers crossed you get her on Tuesday!

My grail doll is coming back home. I owned him a couple of years ago in FID size, but im so happy I upgraded him to a SID size.

God willing I hope to get him by the end of next week

My Claudette finally made it home yesterday. That’s how I named him Claudette LOL

He is even more gorgeous in SID size. But this time he came with green eyes instead of blue eyes. God willing I will be buying him some blue eyes soon. But first I need to figure out what size he needs 12mm or 14mm. Do you guys know? I thank you in advance for the help.

Mercy, my Claude wears 12mm. I find the irises are a much better size for her than 14’s would be!

 

You could always ask them on their Q and A board, or by sending them an email. I assume they wouldn’t mind a layaway being paid off early, and would likely allow it, but worst case scenario, you can still pay your layaway on its intended schedule if they say no.

While waiting for my new dolls I am gathering some courage to go out and shoot nice photos for the ones I already have. For now I don't have enough, so I just took photos of SID model Felix in my office, cause he is cute. He has iplehouse makeup, I asked them to paint him the way is the fashion version of his sculpt is painted. I didn't like it much at first(yellowish lips is an interesting choice) and wanted to repaint, but he kinda grew on me, especially after I got new green eyes for him.

Finally made time to take photos of the most recent Iplehouse additions to my collection, Bella in light brown resin and Asa in special real resin. Absolutely adore them!

 

After a month of waiting I got the blue eyes I order for my Claudette and they were worth the wait. I took a lot of pictures of my boy with different wigs but this one was my favorite. I do promise I have clothes for him but is so hard to put him some when he looks this great without them LOL

I need help. Would iplehouse SID Zera look good in a YID body?

How big is Zera head compare to a regular YID head?

@MrFjmg2003 - Just checked my SID Zera and nYID Vera for you - both of them measured in at 20.5cm. Zera's face is a little bit wider across the cheekbones, but the actual size shouldn't be a problem, imo!

Edit: I'm going to qualify this - the head may be a little large for realistic average proportions if that's what you're looking for.

Do you think Zera head would look too wobbly in the YID body?

 

I don't have a proper place to take photos at the moment, but I snapped a few with my phone for you - please excuse the poor quality (and old beat-up chair). You can see that Zera's face is a little larger overall. Personally, I think she looks better on the nYID than Vera does on the SID, but depending on your preference, she might look a bit bobble-headed. Hope that helps!

Claudette is a gold blondie for today. (Does somebody hate iplehouse wigs as much as me? The wig keeps shedding and falling off. Both wigs I got are the same. I remember the 4 iplehouse wigs I owned about 12 years ago were much better quality than now).

Anyways rant is over LOL. Now here is Claudette

 

I like Zera's face, she will be perhaps my next purchase project.

 

I been spoiling Claudette and I got some more wigs for him. He is supposed to be an idol so he changes his hair style and color constantly

 

I finally end up ordering zera in her regular SID body. God willing the wait won’t be that long and I will get lucky again and just wait 3 months like when I order my Claude

 

My Alyoshka (SID Claude) finally got new clothes after a very long doll hiatus. if anyone is interested in sizing, I got them from Freedom Teller. The pants are the 70cm slim size, but I should have gotten the muscle size which would be 1cm wider in the waist as they are VERY snug (plus his junk gets in the way a bit). I will be changing the fastener to a snap as I can't do up the hook if a shirt is tucked in. The top is 70cm size which fits but is a bit large (I have pinned the back of the neck a little bit). The shoes are 70cm loafers but I think the 75cms may have been the way to go. They are on him, but getting them off will be an entirely different story. Those darn wide feet are a headache, but to be fair his actual Iplehouse shoes barely fit either.

@MrFjmg2003 Claudes are love!! I have two as well, haha, my realskin boy and then I also have a grey skin Vampire Claude that I couldn't resist when they released. I remember back in the day I emailed Iplehouse whether they would rerelease Claude since I had missed the first release. They said no plans so I got him second had, then they released the vampire version which I honestly couldn't even be mad about!

 

@whisperingtree - The more Claudes the better! Vampy Claude is a nice variation!

I have a question for all EID girl owners.

Is there a size difference between the current body and the first EID bodies that were released many years ago? If so, does anyone have the measurements?

I own an old style Yur with the first version EID body and finding clothes that can fit her has never been easy...

@kagami I don't think the body sizes were any different. They just made some refinements to hands, feet etc. Maybe someone can confirm but from memory I think that's the case.

 

I have just back tracked on this thread and loved it. Amazing dolls everyone!! Your Raffine is so soft and pretty @luluna and how gorgeous is Bella in brown skin @Gamine

Iplehouse is still my number one for ball jointed dolls too. I love their body sculpts best. I feel sad for them that they are not still moving forward as they did in the past and yes, it's a good lesson to not let offers pass by if you love a certain type of doll. I am still adding but very slowly as I can't manage so many big dolls...having said that I have ended up with floating heads and they are never the same - I want them to have their own bodies so that they become mini people too LOL

I do think that clothing, new outfits and face ups alone would help boost their beautiful dolls again. Even without new sculpts...although that would be so cool too. There are likely still dolls I'd love to have that I don't yet even among the current offerings.

I find it more difficult to manipulate the larger dolls now for photos but I need to just let that go and perhaps content myself to pose them in simpler ways, I bought some new eyes on Etsy a week or so ago so will be looking forward to upgrading one or two dolls soon.

I am also struggling for stands and shoes. My heavy girls have managed to spoil some of their shoes so some are wearing their flat feet for display these days!
