Faceups Iplehouse Face-Ups: Promo/Custom design Pictures vs. Actual Face-Ups

Oct 22, 2012

    1. Dear Iplehouse lovers,

I am going to buy my first Iplehouse doll(s) and it would be of great help if you could please show me, how closely the actual original Iple face-up looks on your doll if compared to the promotion photo.
For example: If you have an Iplehouse Eva with original Iplehouse face-up B, please take a photo of your doll's face and post it here with name of the mold and which face-up type is he/she wearing.
If you like, you may also add the oficial face-up-type picture from Iplehouse website, but you don't have to do this, I can make the comparison myself.

Picture of any Iplehouse doll with original face-up is welcommed.

The point of this thread is to show how closely the actual face-ups are resembling the promotion photos.

I greatly appreciate your help in advance and I'm looking forward to see your lovely dolls.

Edit: We are broading the focus of this thread to make it even more useful, so if you have a custom face-up from Iple, please share a picture of it with us. It would be great if you could also add a description or a picture which you send to Iple as a reference. Your opinion regarding the accurateness of the actual face-up would be also appreciated.
      Thank you in advance :-)

      Thank you,
      Airike

    2. Well, this is not a default face up but a custom face up. I requested the face up of another doll for my girl.

My girl is a JID Soa with Bianca's type B face up with a more pinkish lip color (my request) they followed it perfectly <3

      Hope this helps!

    3. Storm's A face isn't very popular so I thought I'd give it a go as it was closest to what I wanted out of all 3 of his types. Though I have since changed it.
Looks much better in person, though my guy is Realskin and ther pormo is NS, the colors don't really change that much. I remember asking them before buying him if they take into account the difference in resin as the lips on the NS are very pale. They said they do make the colors darker according to resin tone.

Also I do have a B type Eva
      [IMG]
All the B types I've seen on the forum and pretty spot on. Not in a Barbie mass produced kinda of way, I could tell my girl in a line up, but they all have the same basic face with slight differences due to different artists all doing the same face.

I recommend them myself having 3 Iple dolls and one on the way.

    4. My Claude is a B-type. I think the real thing actually looks even better than the promos did. Most of the promo shots for Claude did a poor job of showing the eyebrows on the B-type though. The wig was always in the way.

      My Sigfried:

    5. Thank you all very much for your pictures!

Yumi, your Soa is so pretty and Iple did definetely a great job on the face-up! It really looks like on the promotion photo.

Jacobean, I love your Eva (well, I love all Evas, since it was the first girl doll that really got me ;-)) - the short wig is really cute on her. And I can definetely see the close resemblence in both your dolls to the promo photos.

Cowpewter, Claude is such a sweetheart, isn't he? If he only was in smaller size (and if he was available) I would order him right away! Again I can really see the promo picture in the actual face-up.

Thank you all again! You guys helped me a lot. :)You see, I am going to buy my first dolls from Iple and I really love their original face-ups, they are exactly what I want for my doll characters. I am most concerned for the new SID girl Mari, since her sculpt is very versatile and I just love her with her A type face-up, while the others are nice, but not really what I want. So I just wanted to know, if Iplehouse face-up artists do try to make the face-up as alike as on the promo photos :-)

    6. But Claude is available...through Iple's CDS...:)

    7. Yes, CDS ... I always forgot about that :D Thank you for reminding ;-) Well, now it only depends when the nYid boy body will be released and if the head would be compatible with it. SID body is too huge for my taste...

    8. [IMG]

Here's one of Eva faceup C! Mine is peach gold as opposed to realskin. She's a nice warm color in person, she looks a bit paler in this particular shot.

    9. Labeth, your Eva is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for the picture :D Wow, I have always wanted faceup B for my Eva, now I have to reconsider it... the freckles are so pretty on her!

I wonder ... does anyone know if there is any possibility that Iple would customize the original face-up a bit? I mean, for example say that i would like the C face-up, but change her eyebrows to B-type shape? Anyone having any experience with this? :-)

    10. Airike: I know that with custom face ups you can have anything but it would be too expensive to pay for custom face up if you only want a different eyebrow shape. It's better if you ask Iplehouse that question, they are quick to answer and have great customer service!

    11. You are right, Yumi, thank you very much! :-)

Just to inform you guys: I wrote to Iplehouse about the minor face-up changes and they replied that they are sorry, but it is really difficult to keep track of customers face-up modification, therefore advise me to use Custom Face-up... Which is quite expensive for me, sadly :-(

    12. They want you to pay a custom face up price if you even want the eye lashes changed to a different color on a basic face up!
      Crazy isn't it?
They custom face up service is very good though, I have one custom face up from them which is very pretty and very accurate to the photoshopped picture I gave them.

    13. Yes, that is quite crazy, although I understand that if they accepted such changes, many more people might would like to change something and so on, so their face-up artists would have a very hard times remembering all the orders. Their reply sure made me a bit sad, but I decided just to stick with the original face-up B - this is the one which made me fell in love with Eva. ;-)
So far I must say that I don't remember hearing someone to seriously complain about Iple face-up, be it an original or custom, therefore I am pretty sure I will just love my Iple girls and boy with their Iple face-ups :-)

    14. Here's my ws Carina with Iple's photo of the faceup. Her lips are a lot pinker than I thought they'd be. ...huh... with all the talk about re-casts lately, I sometimes wonder, since I bought her second-hand, but I got the box and certificates and all... and her makeup looks much like it the photos... except for the hot pink lips and the touch of blush on her chin... She's got nice hand-painting which is Iple-like. I'm just being paranoid... Cool that I could compare them for this Picture Request, though! :D

    15. Hm... with your Carina, the difference might be because of the difference in skin tone! It would make the colour show up differently, as well as the artists using slightly different shades depending on skin tone.

(She is lovely, by the way!)

    16. April, thanks for your pictures. Your Carina is really beautiful! She was once on my wishlist too, but I decided that EID is too big for me, and too "womanly". I envisioned my doll more "girlish" and sweet, so I opt for Eva after seeing some really sweet pictures of her. Nevertheless, I always enjoy seeing Carinas, they are really pretty!

And for the face-up, it definitely looks very like the promotion picture. I think you don't have to worry about your doll's authenticity :-)

    17. Here's my Realskin Kamau with a Face-up B type:

The colours are actually the same as the original and the face-up is gor-geous! This is the promo picture:

    18. Lahela with Faceup B

My Molly has several noticeable differences but the overall look is similar enough. Both Molly and Iple's sample are real skin. The biggest differences I've noticed are the length of her lower lashes (much longer on Molly) and the color of her eyebrows (a redder brown on Molly). Also, Molly doesn't seem to have as much glow to her eyeshadow, but that could be more of a lighting thing.

Great idea for a thread, BTW. :thumbup

    19. I think you're right. The realskin or peach has more yellow in it, which would make the pink go more orange/red... And the blushing shows up more on white, so it looks a little different. I've seen other ws Carinas with the same makeup, so they either just go a bit more pink on the ws, or it just happens that way... but it seems to be typical for them. Anyway... interesting to see how close the faceups are to the examples!

I was only being paranoid... the buyer had lots of feedback and I have the box and papers and all, so I wasn't REALLY worried. Thanks, though! :D

I actually love Eva and the SID body, too. I'm going to try and get her sometime next year...

You don't really want the super-shiny eye shadow... I have it on my Theo and often it shines like little white dots around his eyes, which is a little odd on a guy! (tho he still looks great).

I love Lahela so much. Yours is gorgeous!

overall I'm pleased with all of my guys' defaults. The one with the most variance is my Claude whose lips don't look exactly like the default

Phoenix looks quite pale in my photo but she's darker in real life. Her makeup also looks more orange in person than in pictures but she's still really pretty.

    23. Thank you everyone for wonderful photos! After the shutdown of the forum I had little trouble finding the thread so I cannot respond to you sooner. I am glad so many people sent their photos, it really convinced me that Iple do a great job on their face-ups :-)

Jendaw, your Phoenix is gorgeous! Bianca is a lovely sculpt indeed. The make up looks very much like the promo one, I mean, besides the color difference ;-) Thank you for the photo!

Gill, your Felix is really handsome. A type make-up is my favourite for him. I see that the face-up artist did a good job on him :-) And your Kassia is adorable, the freckles are very well done! Definetely there is a strong resemblance between promos of both Felix and Kassia and their actual face-ups. Thank you very much for sharing the photos!

XxBrittox, you have a very nice bunch of boys. Their face-ups look great! Thank you very much for the photos!

Sianserais, what a lovely group you have! Claude, Barahan, Eva, Carina and Lahela ... such a pleasing sight for my eyes! The others are beautiful too. You must be very lucky to have all these wonderful dolls! Their face-ups are very well made, I can see the promo pics in most of them.
Thank you so much for sharing photos of your family of dream dolls! :-)

Silk, thank you for sharing photos for you Kamau! He looks very manly :-) The face-up is very well done and really accurate. Iplehouse seems to do great jobs in most cases, yay!

Jill in VW, you have a wonderful Lahela, she stroke me hard when I first saw her, but by that time, I did not even considered buying a doll (they seemed sooo expensive then, and now... I am waiting for one and saving for three others, things change quickly ;-) ). Thank you for sharing photos of your beauty!

    24. I am going to add pics of EID Special Edition Roger, because Iple did such a great job on his face-up, especially the expression, and you can see that with my Ravi, they followed thru in the real life version almost to the eyelash! IMO this is one of the most outstanding male sculpts that Iple has done so far. This guy just sends me into orbit and I love him so much.

    26. Tangier and LuckyXIII thank you very much for the photos of your boy. The faceups are really very well done!
I can't wait for my Mari to see how hers turns out ;-)

    27. EID Bichun, NS, faceup A: Iplehouse did a gorgeous job on my Jusse, and the faceup is almost exactly what I expected from the A promo picture! In fact, I like Jusse's eyebrows even better than the promo picture's--you can't see this because of his wig, but they're a tiny bit thinner, which suits me perfectly. The only faceup detail that I didn't expect and didn't really like was the fairly heavy blushing on his chin. But it photographs well, and even after just a few days, I already don't notice it in person.

    28. Cynthia, thank you very much for the photos of your handsome Jusse! The face-up is really well done! The chin-blushing is not really noticeable in the picture ;-)

    29. So youre wanting to get a Eva too? same here :3 thanks for putting up this thread, i cant wait to see others :D

    30. Thank you for your appreciation, I am happy this thread proved useful :-)
Yes, Eva have been my dream doll for a year or so and I hope that within few weeks I would be able to order her finnally! Mine will be in Peach gold skin and face-up B :-) What about yours? Do you have any plans for her? ;-)

    31. Yesss... been staring at her for weeks now. I am hoping that I would get to order her for my birthday - not sure if I would want to use Iplehouse faceup or go custom but I just love love love her faceup C

    32. The freckles really suit her, right? :-)

    33. Svgjen, thank you so much for your wonderful photos! Your boys and girl are all amazing, their face-ups are really very well done!
      P.S. Nice coincidence that 3 of these 4 guys have B type face-up, isn't it? :D

    34. Yeah that's really weird! :) Though when I bought my Kyle there was no other faceup. And only one choice of body. If they'd had choices at the time I'd have gone for A but I like his faceup so it works out well. :)

    35. I was kind of disappointed with how pale IP's Normal Skin was... I actually though there was some kind of mistake and contacted IP asking them if my any chance they sent me a White Skin doll instead of a NS, but apparently there wasn't any mistake... IP NS is super pale when comparing to other companies like Soom.
That made a lot of difference in the faceup as well.

I orderer an EID Arvid in B type Make-up

This is how my doll looks:
      8256886530_d0fcd58cc3_h.jpg
      8024879761_881cf942e2_b.jpg

      * Depending on the light, resin color and faceup can look a lot different. I sometime edit the colors in my photos as well.

    36. That was exactly my only gripe with Iple dolls, the paleness of the NS. They never seemed to look that pale on the site, but now most of the pictures does reflect it. I was used to Luts and Soom NS so it did seem very pale to me.
I do highly recommend the new peach gold though, much pinker than other company NS but still an amazing colour. All my Iple dolls with be peach gold from now on.

    37. I'm a bit late to the party, but I'll add my Asa Type A faceup to the thread. She's pretty much spot on although my photography skills are dubious so my photos aren't a perfect representations of the colors. Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures of my Bichun's factory faceup before I added to it. Think he was fairly accurate though. I don't usually order faceups from companies, but those 2 were my first bjds and I REALLY liked Iplehouse's makeup pics and luckily their factory faceups are close to the representative pics. The only other dolls I ever bought with factory faceups were an Asleep Eidolon Crystal mermaid which was pretty nice except for the extremely red chin (didn't look that close to the product pics though) and a Cristy Stone Siren head who's faceup looked NOTHING at all like the product pics and was one of the worst faceups I ever saw, even the eyelashes were really cheap and bad. Whoever she used to do her factory faceups was so awful that I was told $5 Bobobie faceups looked better than the one I got.

But I digress... sorry. Here's my Asa comparison:

    38. Thank you for the pictures, Dirili! You are definitely not late, this thread might come handy for anyone considering buying the Iple dolls in the future ;-) Your Asa is gorgeous, the face-up is truly well done.

    39. Thanks Airike :D She's one of my first and still my favorite. Definitely hope the pics are of some use to others later on.

    40. [IMG]

Here's Denzel--almost nobody has a Denzel, but he's so great in person--the promos make that Type B look very heavy and stage-makeup like--in person it's much softer. My problem is that Bryan has been out for a lot of photos, and the reds have faded a little from his lips and chin--I have been considering adding a tiny bit on top to refresh that color. (Reds fade easily in sunlight).

    42. Thank you very much, fishcake! It's great to see also the less popular sculpt. Your boy is awesome!

Swazini, thank you for the picture! What a pretty girl you have. The face up looks really good!

    43. Thank you Airike! I hope someone posts a Shane here--I almost never see him, either! (and I would love to get one) :D

    44. I have two akando's. Neither of them had the company faceup. On the left picture you can see a company picture of Akando, and on the right my two boys and their current faceups :)

And my Cherie, on the left the company picture, on the right her current faceup

    45. When my Kyle arrives (any day now) I'll add him here, he's got an A type.

    46. This thread is very helpful! I love the IH resin options and many more realistic face sculpts but the makeup on the promos is so very good that it is intimidating to try to think what they would look like upon arrival. This gives me much more confidence if I ever can bring myself to purchase something so very expensive. ^.^

    47. labeth, I'm reading this old post and was glad to see the Eva comparison pics, as I have one on order with C faceup. I loved the peach gold and hoped her eyes would be the same as the pic. Were your Eva's eyes the same as the pic?

      • x 1
    48. Fishcake, you're welcomed! Yeah, Shane is pretty unseen sculpt... That's a shame, he is a really pretty sculpt...

Ravenlily, thank you for the pictures! It is also great to see some customized face-up to see how much it may change the look of the doll ;-)

Jacobean, I am impatiently waiting for your Kyle. Hope he makes it home soon! :-)

Gali, I am really glad the thread prove helpful! It help me a lot too when I was wondering if my girls with Iple face-up will look just like on the promo shots. Come to think of it, I should post their comparison too! ;-)

Watson, if I may present my opinion, I think it is rather improbable, that your Eva might have the same eyes... Iple sends eyes completely randomly... Maybe if you ask if the eyes she has on the picture are for sale, Iple might let you buy the same...
Anyway, congrats on ordering Eva! She is just an amazing sculpt, you will love her, you will see!

Svgjen, your Bianca is beautiful! The face-up looks just like on the promo pic! :-)

    49. LOL So was I ;) and here he is!

      [IMG][IMG]

It's hard to find a picture of Kyle without hair all over his face, but this is how it looks in real. Here's Jeff, he's Peach Gold, I think the promo pictures are Real Skin but you can see how they match the tones to the skin.... I mean resin! :blush

    50. Jacobean, finally he is home! I am so glad for you ;-) His face-up is great!

    51. Thanks! I took that picture specially for this thread. ;)

    52. Here is the Promo shot

And my girl Ember with B faceup and small bust in NS. Personally I like how her faceup looks compared to the promo photos even more.

    53. artisticadelle, she is awesome. The face-up is really beautiful in life (I also have a face-up B Eva) ;-)

    54. So is it safe to say you never what kind of Faceup you will end up with when buying and choosing makeup types?

    55. No I think it's safe to say the face ups are very accurate. The only difference really is that the photos on the site tend to be highly saturated so the real thing looks lighter. I've posted a couple of side by side photos that show how true to the site's stock photos they were.

    56. What it boils down to is the promo pics tend to be either more artistically enhanced and/or you can't quite always rely on you own computer monitor ... there are tons of warnings/disclaimers on probably every site 'somewhere' that "colors may not appear the same due to monitor settings" or something like that at least.

Many promo shots are done with 'mood lighting' makeup for that will look way different than in ordinary daylight. Think of this... you wouldn't be caught dead wandering around wearing what is used for theatre makeup on the streets. Theatre make up shows normal only under stage lights... same idea. Even changing hair or eye color could make it 'seem' different...
One way to know that your doll will look different is ... is the stock pic heavy with mood lighting? if yes then what you see there will seem different than what you get... but it's not really. It's like the difference of a pic with... or without flash.
