Hybrids Iplehouse nYID, SID, EID, HID and hybrids Photo ReferencePart 01

I think I thought about a photo spam thread like this a while back I thought.... Really? Because I was wondering if Lawrence would look good with an nYID boy. (I determined the height difference was too great and opted for a SOOM Super Gem.)

And Bliss is OWNING that wig. She looks fantabulous I can't get over it

 

Yay! I'll have a place to spam my boy once I get him. I love Bliss' wig, too. It's so pretty!

 

OH MY GOD YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS THREAD SINCE LACIE AND JOSH GOT HERE! I'll add some pictures of my crew all dressed up in a bit, still editing pictures but I finally finished their costumes for a big photostory I'm working on hehe

 

I'm back with pictures, sorry for the double post. Info about the character's my dolls will be "playing" below. Changed some of their names just for this photostory but they still have their names, like actors taking on a role.


Ember, the opal queen who gets her name from her opalescent necklace, she is next in line to be queen and is about to be crowned. The Lizard King has been after her for almost four years trying to make her his bride. Alleria is her fairy protector. She's "played" by Ember. I made her necklace and rings.


Alexander, the cold prince who gets his name from the fact he was cursed when he was 17, making it impossible for him to fall in love and turning down his emotions. He's "played" by Alex. I made his crown and necklace.


Felicity, the rebel princess who is Alexander's younger sister, she refuses to dress ladylike and is often mistaken for a boy. She's a better fighter than her brother and is the only one who knows about his curse after their parents died. She's "played" by Lacie. I made her crown and necklace, crown not shown because guess who left it inside when it came time for photos ugh.


Lucas, the lost prince who has been missing for five years since he was 13. He's "played" by Andy. I made his sash, crown, and necklace. He's borrowing Josh's wig.


The Lizard King, the villain who's been after Ember for four years, trying to take her for his bride. He's "played" by Josh, lol sorry bud I needed a villain and you have the bigger arms and monster claws. I made his vest, arm warmers, cape, and necklace.

artisticadelle, this is so creative! I'll bet you had tons of fun writing, costuming, and producing your story.
The Lizard King costume is especially fascinating - and effective.
Looking forward to seeing more of your creativity.

Regarding posing, I find that two dolls may actually stand better together (slightly leaning into each other) than apart. Together they can form sort of a table-leg arrangement where four legs is more stable than two. I've gotten some hard-to-pose Iples into some very nice standing poses using this little trick. (Although I typically mess it up later, trying to get their arms to behave!)

But I also share in the frustration of those SID hip joints that don't want to allow a doll to sit. I think every one of mine is different, and I've only had temporary, marginal success with restringing. Some of mine sit very well, with nice satisfying clicky noises at the joint; others won't, no matter what I've tried.


Since this is a photo thread, I'll add a quick pic of one of my nYID/SID hybrid girls. I think the nYID heads go extremely well on the SID body.



Caitria is an nYID white skin Iplehouse Audrey with Iple faceup on a small busted NS SID body. Her head has been expertly blushed to match the NS resin by Lyn Raftis.

 

Jill, your Audrey is so pretty, I love her.

artisticadelle, I just saw your pics on dA ... they're all great, as always! I'm still not over how convincing a villain Josh can do

Jill in WV, she looks perfect on that body. Audrey is such a beauty! She was on my wishlist for a while, but Bianca hijacked the OC in question. I love how SID and nYID heads and bodies work so well together, it makes it so much easier to get the right body type for a character.

 

Oh wow, that sounds cool! Yur is perfect on the SID by the way, I ended up putting her on Stella's SID and Stella on the EID.

 

It varies - widely - but yes, the boys sometimes have similar problems, although for my crew it seems worse on the girls. My Edan sits well, my Claude and Barahan do not. My light brown SID girl body who now sports an Aurora head (it was ordered with a Bibi head thru DC) sits very well and is stable in that position, but my older, RS Zera's body (most often used by my Eva) is terrible in spite of all kinds of restringing, glue sueding, tightening strings, etc. The little pieces in her hip joints just don't engage, no matter what I try.

Girls and guys both benefit from "bending" their chest joint and leaning them forward slightly there; it changes their center of gravity some and keeps them upright better.

Of all my SIDs, a few can sit well all the time, maybe half can sit decently most of the time if I'm careful, and the last few won't sit unless I prop something behind them.

In general, I find they sit better when they are brand new, before working the joints repeatedly loosens their strings and smooths the insides of the joints so there is less friction to help them "stick" in a pose.

 

Alexander may have a cold expression, but his chest says something else. He's about ready to bust out of that shirt.

 

I remember my very first SID (NC Lee), from the very first of the SIDs Iplehouse made, had very few posing challenges. his body has loosened up over the years but is still one of my better posers. The SIDs that have come home here have varied ever since. I also remember being a little concerned about the clicky noises Lee's joints made - now I welcome it because it means he/she will sit for me.

I have quite a few SIDs in both genders, and every one is different in their ability to hold poses. Every. Single. One. I've come to think of it as part of their individuality and "charm."

Lady Tiku the talk of blank sculpts and faceups is making me itch to paint more of my dolls but all have faceups I love and I don't know if I want to order my next boy blank and go for it or if I want to order him with his option B faceup. If I was way better at eyebrows I'd go blank but ugh eyebrows are hard

 

*facepalm* I am so bad at remembering certain Iple sculpt names, for whatever reason. Of course, Emilia -- d'oh!! (I'd been posting from my phone again, which tends to lead to not looking things up, for fear of losing what I'd been typing.)

I think the Luna pallette is very pretty, if you decide that it suits her!

Picture from yesterday of my favorite nerds. Lacie kept sliding over and falling on me as the whole couch was taken up by dolls so Josh had to help hold her up. Funny thing is I was actually drawing these two in a similar pose when that happened.
I normally don't bond to my boys as much as the girls, but damn I have really bonded to Josh about as much as my girls. I think that has to do with the fact he's so hug-able. Right now I have one of his hoodie's stuffed for a photostory to make him look heavier and he's all squishy in the tummy and it makes hugging him better lol

 

They look so cute like that. It's kinda like he's saying "Now just stand there and smile" like he's trying to keep her from running off Doesn't every family have a pic like that, I know I do lol

And a huggable Josh? Why not? I want a squidgy Edan too Iple really need to do slightly soft body versions too for us to hug to them death

I wonder why my order recent order still hasn't shipped..... I mean... it was the new nYID boy clothes and Scarlet's unblushed rapier. Maybe they don't have the Imperial Guard made? Or got a lot of orders?

 

Pictures of these dorks again. I did a goofy photostory that I'll upload later explaining the second picture but basically Josh is always trying to make Lacie laugh since she goes through some pretty rough stuff.

I actually got a pink wig for her today, and coupled with her new lashes I think she looks great like this too

 

Lacie got her Elizabeth dress and Ember's new wig arrived so of course I had to take some pictures!! Also excuse Rosalie in the last pic but she was dressed up and too cute to not include.

 

Sooo, it's funny, I just got my dcchristina doll yesterday and while I am doing her face up I stuck my EID "Astrid's " (Pamela) head in the DC body...when I saw this thread I was like cool!!! But then I saw it's just iplehouse only hybrids and I went awww :/

It's not just Iple-only hybrids -- they're the most common (EID/SID, etc.), but the thread is specifically *also* welcome to Iple/other-company hybrids.

I do! I don't have any nude photos--hopefully you can get a good idea of the proportions from the dressed photos. Grace has a small head so I think the combo works great!

That's the Black Diamond outfit. It's complicated to put on (at least I thought so) but totally worth it as she looks great in it. I just love Grace.

Isn't everything complicated to put on with nYID hands? Me too, but she doesn't seem to be that popular. I haven't seen that many Graces.

Some pics of my Seraphine in dresses I made for her. Somehow she gets the most clothes. Must be the body, it's great to sew for it.

 

Hi, everyone--just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying all the pics and stories in this thread! Some really awesome stuff here!

Are Iple/other hybrid dolls ok in this thread, or is there a better place for them? I have recently embarked on a modest quest to find other heads that will work on my Iple EID/SID Women bodies without having to mod the bodies (heads' neck openings are fair game...) and I had a couple pics to share in case anyone else was considering these.

I have a white NYID Chris head floater that I can't seem to find a white IH body for. Is there somewhere that gives the bodies of other companies that might fit? The neck is 11 cm on the NYID body.

 

Is Seraphine an Audrey? I have a hard time recognizing sculpts when they're not on Iple's pages or wearing Iplehouse clothes. (You'd think I would recognize Audrey because I have one.) I like her outfits, especially the pale pink. Did you draft the patterns, or did you adapt existing patterns? My nYIDs never get hand-sewn clothing because I haven't found any patterns that fit and don't know how to adjust the ones I have.

 

Vermont chick, you guessed right, she is an Audrey. I used the masking tape method to devide her upper body into sections (just the front, sideparts and back) and use the basic form to draft new patterns. And I mostly use jersey for the tops, which is quite forgiving because it's stretchy. But there is also software availiable to adapt existing patterns to your measurements, I just find it easier to draft patterns by hand instead of searching for a pattern for exactly that kind of garment I had in mind. If you just want to try making basic stuff without darts you could try pulling fitting clothes inside out, make them as flat as possible and copy the form of the parts with some clear film put over it. It's really not that difficult once you have a fitting basic form for the top, and the rest is just different types of sleeves, skirts and necklines.

I thought about making a pattern page on my blog, but I have to digitalize them first.

 

Sorry for the grainy quality of this photo, but I just adore how Josh is looking at Lacie. Even with his werewolf eyes in, you can really see the softness of his character.


And then a couple random pictures from my yard, as I got my arm braces off and could finally get them out lol. Depression goggles are loosening and I really do like Lacie's faceup, something I was worried I didn't like and had talked about in the Waiting room.

 

Photos of Doria in some of the new clothes I received yesterday, love the trousers though they are a bit long, I misread the description when I bought them and thought they came with a belt but it was an extra, her tattoo is by Hane.

My girls got this tiny sewing machine as a gift from one of my customers yesterday. Isn't this lovely? It really works, or at least you can move the needle up and down by turning the wheel. No idea where she found it. Unnea is happy
