EDIT: Just to be clear, this thread is about the original EIDW body before the joint upgrade in 2013. I've made a few minor changes while I was replacing the missing images, but these are all still from the same original shoot. Since people were asking me what I thought of the EID Woman's Mobility Joint, I thought I'd post a few photos to show what you can do with it. This doll is brand new and has not been sueded, modified, or supported in any way other than what you can see. I chose to do this with her clothed because, after all, posing with clothes on is part of the question, ne? Be warned that her shirt was chosen because it *does* show things underneath... Sitting without using either Torso or Mobility Joints. Sitting with only Torso bent forward. Sitting with only Mobility Joints bent upward. Without Mobility Joints, the hips start to come out of the socket very shortly past 90 degrees, and won't stay put unless pulled out all the way. With Mobility Joints, the knees will stay up easily, though the range is still somewhat limited. While they may look a bit strange from some angles, I wouldn't consider them that difficult to disguise. Torso bent and twisted here, trying to see how well she can curl up. Technically, her head is not touching her arm. Torso straight, one Mobility Joint bent. Both Mobility Joints bent. I don't know what she's doing here - I just raised her arms to show that she's not supporting herself with them. Without the Mobility Joints, this pose wouldn't work. Also using Mobility Joints. The Knees are a little disjointed here. Same pose from side, and Torso bent forward. Note the hips are beginning to come out of their sockets anyway. Everything straight for this one. Wish I was this flexible.
Same pose from the front. That's as far as she can point her toes, but using the heel feet would look better. Mobility Joints both bent upward here, and Torso Joint bent back. Same pose from other side just because it might matter to someone. Mobility Joints bent, knees disjointed. She did not seem to want to sit like this without being propped on her arms. Mobility Joints bent, knees disjointed. Without the former she would just fall backward. Is this some kind of interperative dance? Here I bent the Mobility Joints downward to reduce the gap a bit. Come on, girl, my carpet's not *that* dirty. One Mobility Joint bent, Torso twisted slightly. What did she find now, a bug? Torso bent backward. Her ankles are crossed here, in case it's not clear. Stretching? Torso twisted. Just to show she can stand with both knees bent. ...And with her feet apart, though she's not very stable in this pose. And finally, one Mobility Joint bent. There isn't enough friction in the hip for her to hold the foot up higher than this, but I'm sure sueding could help with that. In general, if you understand how the joints work and have a bit of patience, you should be able to achieve quite a bit. But obviously it isn't one of the best posers out there. Iplehouse doesn't like to compromise too much on their bodies' aesthetics.
I have a Luna also but without the mobility joints. I have a hard time posing her but I don't think she's loose or tight. I have mega problems with her knees and ankles. One of her knees comes out when I bend her legs as if she was sitting and to get it back in, I have to take her pants off and struggle with it and I'm afraid of breaking it. Needless to say, she's basically been on the shelf the whole time I've had her so far and I have not bonded with her at all. *sigh*
Really great to see the difference as Im waiting on my Yur without the mobility, it does a similar thing to my Super Gem girl where the leg pops out of the hip! Your Luna is beautiful in RS. Odd question: did your Iplehouse leggings have an odd opening at the front of them? It looks like they do here maybe as mine came like that and wondered if thats how they all came!
I'm not sure what you mean by the front. The Iplehouse leggings are meant to be open both at the toe and heel. I was a little surprised that the edges weren't stitched or anything - basically they just cut a small hole in the legging for the heel to poke through. There are no additional holes elsewhere.
ahh ok! i meant at the front stomach crotch general area. mine arent finished properly in places either. ill have to get onto iplehouse about that.
Speaking out of experience with my own Luna, an extra joint at the hip/waist and maybe a mobility joint at the shoulders (instead of the arm being two pieces, it should be three) and she'd be perfect. Still, her posing ability is amazing for sure; her arms and legs can be put in some pretty wild positions compared to my other dolls.
Thank you so much for this thread. I'll be ordering my first EID woman soon (I couldn't resist that body) and I wasn't going to get mobility joints, but now that I see how much they help poseability I will! I'm so looking forward to having this wonderful body!!!
As someone interested in two of the IH females, this is a very useful thread. I saw some people elsewhere saying they didn't think the mobility joint was worth it, but here it looks like it is. Especially if you want a flexible doll, and I do. Thanks for these photos.
This is very helpful! Thank you so much. I have a JID boy with mobility joints, and he always have problems posing and holding poses... but this, it helps me to understand that I have to move the parts! XD Thanks so much. I'll go and try it on my JID.
WOW!!! This series of photos are very helpful in showing what the Mobility Joints can allow th EID to do, and what she looks like in the process of doing so. I for one, am glad I ordered my Asa with this option - even though some poses look a little weird (what with the Mobility Joint causing her to look like she may have broken her thigh-bones) at least you have the option to leave them straight, or use the Joints to successfully create a more dynamic series of poses - KOOL!!! ^_^
I think I made the right decision to get my Jessica with mobility joint, she is more flexible and I can pose her easily, I don't think I mind so much about the line around her tight, it's almost the same like her seams line on the other part of her body Still I want to have SID body without the mobility joint, just to have a difference body to compare their joints system (Eva is cute, don't you think
¨thanks a bunch for the thread! This really helped with the decision of whether to take extra mobility joints or not. Great thread and sweet pictures. Such a nice Luna
Thanks for posting this!! I'm going to be ordring my first EID soon and I was really torn weither I should get the mobility or not. This thread really helped me decide!!! BTW your luna is lovely!!!
Oh, thank you so so much! useful reference as to whether I should get the mobility joint or not. But still undecided.
Haha so glad I found this as I just ordered Luna with mobility joints! I can't wait to get her these look so good!
Could anyone do this for the new EID women? I started a new thread because technically it's a different body and I can imagine quite a few people would be interested in the new body especially. Any help greatly appreciated!
You're welcome! ^_^ I really hadn't thought about people wanting to do research on secondhand dolls before you mentioned it. Originally there were even more photos in a second reply, but they were mostly arm-poses and apparently someone decided to remove that part. So when I updated it, I switched out a few that were repetitive for a few more useful ones. Maybe I should make a thread here for my HIDW photos too, since the box-opening thread they're in will eventually be removed? That one wasn't a proper review, though... And while I'm at it, just because someone might want to know about those elbows:
She is so pretty, I hope you still have her! I'd love to see a review of your HID, gonna look for it now!
Yes, I do - you can see her hanging out with the secondary crew in this thread. She's the one with long black hair, a multicolored dress, and a pear. And my HID Bella's Box-Opening is here.
Oh I found her, no problem! So awesome! I just love Iplehouse! Oh, and your collection, OMG! I'm going to stalk all your posts in hopes of more pictures, LOL
