2. Just to make sure you are up to date... Theo (SID man) has had his sculpt changed. He was one of 3 dolls that were 'renewed'. Theo's made after Jan. 1, 2015 are the new version. The notice from ages ago is here. (you need to log in)

The lion head if it's the Iplehouse one you mean... it this guy Tedros - Circus master from IH's first set of 'theme' dolls. He is an EID and the head will be bobbled on a SID Theo if that is what you wanted... what color resin is your lion head? The hands and feet can be found but the tail (not very lion like really) would be very hard to find.

3. I think the Lion sculpt is an old YID boy sculpt. I've seen a few on the MP. You might check on the YID discussion thread and see if you get any hits.
Ashbet - I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who sucks at eyelashes and envies faceup artists!

4. ooh I forgot about him >< oops.

Old YID Lion would be seen here and he is sold out/discontinued

go with what animerockstar said... check other threads for info and the marketplace if you still really want him?

5. Thanks for such a quick response!!! :daisy Yes, I watched and watched the MP for a Theo, and one never showed. Now he is renewed!!!! I cannot tell what the differences are. Either I am not very observant, or they are subtle. I am considering adding a Theo to my collection. Just looking for any general opinions on him.

The Lion I have now is the YID version. I am told it's pronounced the same as 'Leon'. I don't know much about him. I got him today in exchange for some eyes, he was given to my friend before in a trade... so I don't even know how old he might be. I'm very thrilled to have him but have no plans beyond cleaning him up and giving him some eyes to wear. I'm fishing for ideas. I will certainly make my way into the YID discussion thread. Can YID heads go on SID bodies??? Thanks, guys!!!!!!

6. his eyes/brow were changed slightly and his jawline/mouth/cheeks and possibly nose were tweaked ever so slightly in regards to the shape/definition of them... but you have to look pretty close to notice that... his eyes and brow are the most noticeable.

I have no idea about the old YID heads and older SID bodies, but he most likely will not fit on the newer bodies since they are a completely different system than what Iplehouse had back when they were still selling those YIDs.

7. you might be unhappy with your trade... OLD YID head "only" fit on old YID body's... There is something about the shape of the opening for the head that makes it not workable with any other body... >< You would 'need' to find a similar oYID body in the MP... unless the head can be modded for the new bodies? The YID line got a major body job done and the two types are not compatible... not even hands or feet can be moved from one to the other. And did you get a Certificate of Authenticity? (it would have the date it was made which would be useful).

8. I have an original Theo... the guy in the middle of the photo...

New Theo is on the left, my Noctarcana Circus Snake Charmer Theo is in the middle (he has a non-Iple faceup) and the last of the three pics is the old version basic Theo. First and third are official pics from the Iplehouse website.

The main differences in the sculpt appear to be his eyes, nose and shape of the jaw. His eyes are very different - resembling EID Elchanan's more now than they used to, with their droopy-eyed shape and thicker lid.. his nose has more of a bump on the end than it used to, and is less "chiseled" at the sides. And his face has been contoured a bit more on the lower half - his face was rounder overall in the original version.

I like both versions, but I do find them to be significantly different.

Regarding your Lion - he is an older YID sculpt, one of the most popular of the older YID line. If you want to make yours into a whole doll, just keep an eye out on the Marketplace here. The older YIDs often sell for good prices, as they have been discontinued for some time now.

Edit: Your older Lion head may fit well on another company's body... both my Barron and my SooRi from the older YID line were attached with a typical S-hook inside the head... so nothing unusual there. If your guy is old Iplehouse normal skin, he could possibly be a good match with Luts or Dollmore bodies of the same general time period.

9. Okay, that is all great to know. I do think I prefer the older version of Theo, but I'm not in a rush to get him. Jill in WV - Your boy is very lovely!!!!! Seeing yours makes me want one even more. I might have to expand my search to Russia and a couple Asian countries as well to find one..... I have plenty of time to think it over. I like him a lot, but I can live with never having him. At least this is what I'm telling myself! I waited for 4 years to buy my first and I am happy enough just with him. They just get lonely and want more friends!!!! I'll blame Sdink and those beautiful faceup photos of Theo for my desire to own one!!!

I will try Lion on my other dolls' bodies to see if there's anything odd about his neck hole. I didn't notice anything unusual. That's too bad the older YID bodies are difficult to find, but good to know. Worst case scenario for poor Lion is he gets to hang out with the other floating heads and be a professional practice/experiment head. He's pretty cool either way. I don't think I would regret my trade since I traded some eyes I didn't want or need.

10. Another new thread already? You know what would be nice? If you could click on "reply with quote" on the previous (now closed) thread and automatically have your reply posted in the new thread. I had never noticed before that the whole Reply menu bar disappears from the old thread after it's closed.

That said, I'm going to try to respond to two posts from the previous thread without being able to see them here.

Selenae, I use Eyeco eyes and would love to try Masterpiece eyes. What I love about Eyecos is how realistic the smaller pupil size makes them look. And the colors are great. Just remember if you do order them, the sizes are a bit like junior clothing sizes, i.e., 11 instead of 12, 13 instead of 14, etc. Also, soft silicone requires a safe eye putty. Think silicone ear plugs rather than Sculpey. (I'm sure there are others, and better descriptions too, but this is the best I can do after 4 hours sleep last night. Names of things tend to go out the window when I'm sleep deprived.)

Fishcake, thanks for the Google suggestion. That was going to be my next avenue to try in looking for a bulb for my Ottlite. Amazon didn't have it. The bulb is shaped like an O-ring, with the magnifier in the middle of it. It looks like Ottlite may have abandoned that design altogether.

And because it's a new thread, here's a bit of old spam of Grace wearing Eyeco eyes. Sorry, don't remember the color name.

11. omg, animerockstar I blame you ><... I nearly made a whole month dolly$$$ free... but someone showed up at the meet with stuff to sell... can you guess what I got ARS???? lol..
Anywho... this is Bliss's new do... it need a good bit of tlc to tidy up those curls but I'm already in love with it lol Lu, got one too, it has a half pony in the back I can't show in the light I have ><.

[IMG][IMG]

12. Oh, thanks! I'm actually thinking of springing on two pairs of Ultra Eyecos. I need to ask Eyeco for better photos of their green and gray Ultras, though. If I don't like the colors, I may have to ask if they can do custom Ultras. As for size, I'm hesitant to go all the way down to 11mm. I don't want the super stare-y look, but I do want a natural one.

Actually, does anyone here have a regular Yur and 13mm or 11mm Eyecos? Seeing owner pictures would help a lot.

13. Heee heee! I LOVE Bliss's!! Actually.... those bangs look really familiar.... I think I have that wig in both Unique Gray and Dark Carrot.... I just used the Dark Carrot color for my Pamela dress pictures... which I need to upload.... so laaaaaaazzzzyyyy.

And yes I want to see Lu's from the back because it looks beautiful! Is it Leeke? I'm trying to figure out the color....

14. LOL... yes she thinks they were Leeke's but when they made their own stuff? before hiring out? And Lu's is extremely close to IH's 'brown' that has the real red tinge.. just not as red as the IH... like real hair is darker when wet idea? Days might be kinda overcast so I may have to wait a bit for good light to get good representation of color.

I plan on seeing if I can find my mom's perm rods to wrap the Bliss wig with (ya she used the smallest possible rods ><) cuz I think each 'curl' may need a combing and re-wrap... but I'll see if i can fake it first ... I really need to get a way to make some kind of "working" wig stand ><...

And the one on bliss made me think that's her hair after she takes it down from wash and 'rag curls' then would pile it into that fancy do ;p... Like 'Emmaline' would look when her 'hubby' arrives home and she's in bed LOL

EDIT: so quick check of size 8-9 leekes... not seeing anything close to what I have... if my helper and I have time we can maybe try to 'video' me showing the wigs... cuz they do seem 'more' than what Leeke has now O_o...

15. I have my SID Zera wearing a 8-9 inch Leeke wig and it fits really well on her head. I just try not to get any current wigs that are black from Leeke cause those black wig caps will stain like no other.

16. Have you ever tried using silicone wig caps on your crew? Not only do they keep the wigs from slipping, but they keep them from staining. Two of my boys have been wearing black wigs for close to three years, I never take them off except to change into different styles (also black)...and those little heads are as shiny clean as they were on day one. ;)

17. celga- Come to think of it no I don't have any, I better get some for the dolls that wear black wigs then, thanks for the idea.

18. You can get them from a lot of sources, like Denver Doll, eBay, and I've heard MOC. They come in sizes ranging from tinies to the big boys, and they're pretty cheap, too! :)

19. okay this is for anyone who uses the Leeke "wig essence" sprays... they have 3, Type A, Type B & Premium... i tried the 'pink' type b one and liked it... I want to know 2 things...

if you've used the other types do you have a preference? or is there a (good) reason to have the different types on hand?

and if you buy more than 1 or 2 (since they run out of stock) how long would a new one keep (not opened for use). does it 'go bad' after a time? ... I'd buy 10 if the stuff keeps for months or even years lol...

oh and any "don'ts" you have about them... like 'can they work on mohair?'

20. Oh definitely! I really love that wig style it's just the bangs are so long and I'm not sure to swoop all of them like you did or part them 3/4 the way... or trim them a bit. I make "mock" wig stands by getting a wooden skewer and hot gluing one end into a piece of styrofoam and the other end into a balled up newspaper/tissue paper/grocery sack. (usually grocery sack) One of these days I'll make real wooden ones and get those styrofoam heads from Angell-Studio. That's how I trim and style my wigs.
Bliss's wig is LR-035. I know you're thinking... but the curls are different. They are. Leeke has combed them out in the pictures. When you get the wig they look like yours. See a picture of FemJude below I was mentioning before:

As for your other wig.... that will take some digging. Maybe SHE combed it out and it looks different than Leeke? We... may never know.

I use Leeke silicon caps because they are bigger and I have had the same problem from their black wigs. Although mine wiped off with a magic eraser nicely. But why I like Leeke is because they cover a large portion of the head AND sometimes the tips of the ears, while I may not have the wig cap cover the ears it's nice because the fibers sit on the ears and can stain them (I've had that happen). I've never had a cap show in any of my pictures even if they are sitting on the ear.
Whatever you do..... do not.... DO NOT get the PREMIUM wig essence. I thought I would be a snob and spend the extra $2 to get the "premium". But I'm currently saving mine in case I ever meet someone I hate. It smells like old... musk. Not the good open-a-book-in-your-grandmother's-house musk. More like rotten-wood-and-putrid-mushrooms-and-maggots-crawling-through-the-remains-of-god-knows-what-all-doused-in-a-dry-wine musk. Maybe I got a bad batch or it went bad on it's way over here from Korea but I WOULDN'T RISK IT!

So what's the pink one smell like? Is it like perfume-y? Or floral-y?

I'm trying to think how long I've had my Musk Essence. Gosh I swear I bought it with my first batch of wigs soooo over a year. For the sake of science! I will spray the shit outside and see if any plants die from intoxication.

EDIT: Yeeeep. Still smells the same *cough* [IMG]

21. Ya I'm soooo not crafty lol.. but the AS heads I must check! I want to try the stands as they have been said good for EIDm's... I like the idea of the head form... but I'd fix them I think to a wood dowel & base. ... I like them ;p My problem was not finding the smooth stuff... where I can get too... plenty of the balls that would mess up a wig no smooth ones of the right size. I want something I can shove a pin into to secure the wig too ;p,
***
I was wondering also about the 'stitching pattern ... couldn't see it well enough (for me). So they take one curl and split it into 2 or 3? And does yours have 2 longer side bang bits (straight)? I just tried to tuck them back for the quick shots I took. And B seems to have a short forehead so I tip the wig back like 1 mm. And I don't think DM did that.. it has no center part like B's... (not as distinct) and the pony looks factory?
***
hm a new reason for the silicon caps... never thought of colored ears lol but if need be I'd trim to fit the wig line if it was too big? But generally I'm not even that fussy. Oh and 'glue dots!' omg those are great! ultra thin and used for photo's in albums so safe... and virtually invisible! A bit tricky to get used to since they 'ball up' so easily lol. I need to take a photo of all my wig related stuff lol.
***
okay don't USE premium... but now I'm dying to buy one just to try the smell lol... as for the pink all I recall was saying 'oh that's not bad' and I noticed the smell went away fairly fast. And I do have issues with scents too... It DID NOT make me break out in a fit of sneezing or coughing. So 10 it is... has lots of wigs needing lots of tlc to start with lol. and Leeke never has the stuff in stock when I usually look lol. I'll be seeing who here needs it before ordering though but it will be soon ... and they have a wig brush! Everything I find has freaking rubber tips which don't help >< I hope they are small too.

And 'Jude' is stunning O_O

22. Which Yur, Selenae - Old, or Renewal?

23. Yes! That's what I love about the AS "heads". I got one with a wig I bought for my Xiangling. They are a hard styrofoam like the kind you would use for a 'real wig form'. So they would be perfect attached to a wooden dowel stand and then you could pin the wig and style/brush/cut it. In fact there's a GO going on now... I may add some to it  Because I HAD to get this.

Mine has the side bang things yes. I tuck them in too because... they look weird. And I tilted this wig back on Jude as well. The bangs are absurdly long on this particular wig. I mean... Leeke is known for long bangs but this one tops the chart. Lu's wig could also be an old style Leeke doesn't sell anymore. I've run into that quite a few times.

As for the wig essence.... it's YOURS. I'll ship it to you. I have a big problem with scents as they cause migraines for me. Just sniffing this one once gave me a headache so the smell may seem refreshingly premium to you. ;) I prefer to spritz my wigs with fabric softener (Yes... just regular liquid cheap dollar store fabric softener in a Wal-Mart spray bottle). I hold them roughly an arms length away. Spray once. Comb/brush the wig lightly and let dry. Makes them super soft.

And thank you for the compliment on Jude :) That dress is what makes him look stunning. It's amazing! SOOO worth the money.

24. okay took some more wig 'reference shots' and they are at the front of the stream on my other Flickr... https://www.flickr.com/photos/106657973@N02/with/16388650589/ comments are in the 'description' area.

and woohoo! we had a real wig form ages ago... mom wore them and hair pieces etc in the 60's ^^ long gone now.. DM did say these were old wigs and not the like the ones now... and literally twice the price O_o... I paid 55 for all of them. She's been in the hobby for AT LEAST 15 years...
And 'yippee' for the wig stink? lol.. just don't put it with Bane's outfit!! ^^
I love the outfit on other's dolls but I just could not add that color combination to my stuff >< I'll have to think about fabric softener.. we don't' use any... and I have yet to walk in the laundry isle and not have breathing issues... I'm not sure I could 'find' one to use...

25. I'd prefer Renewal, since that's the one I've fallen for. Old would work just as well, though.

I'm thinking I may have to scrap Kyrian's business casual look in favor of just plain casual since clothing is difficult to find. I'm having trouble imagining him in torn jeans and graphic tees, though. I don't think he'd like that very much. @-@

26. I have a Renewal Yur, but no Eyecos. :-/ I'd hazard a guess 11mm would be too small for her, she has the largest eyes of all my dolls ... I think I currently have her in 12s, I always go one size smaller than what they arrive with.

27. I'm trying to find my cable to connect my phone to my computer, but 11mm Eyecos work perfect for her - Eyeco eyes are always one mm smaller, so normal 12mm eyes would be considered 11mm. Give me a bit and I should be able to get a picture up.

28. Have you looked at Freedom Teller? They have some really nice business casual things. Pricey, but beautifully made and worth the money.

29. Yeah, I've actually been eyeing their stuff for a long time. My problem is that I can't afford to drop that kind of money on something that may or may not fit. I really hope that choosing SD17 is the right decision size-wise, because then I'd have to immediately turn around and sell whatever I buy if that isn't the case. I do plan on buying clothes from Iplehouse in the meantime, though.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. :aheartbea

30. Nope, not SD17 for these guys! Freedom Teller makes clothes specifically for the SIDs and EIDs. You definitely want to choose those when you're shopping for Iple big guys and girls!

31. But the doll I'm shopping for is a YID. Wouldn't SID/EID clothing be too big for that size? (Sorry, I'm a little confused now. :XD:)

32. Oh! LOL, well in that case, ignore me. I have no idea what size the YIDs would take! :XD: Maybe someone else here has experience with that...

33. You have asked the right person my dear....
I bought a pair of FT jeans SD17 for my nYID boy and they are an extremely tight fit across his package. They zip like real jeans which is a pain for the tightness and buttoning them is like trying to pull an S-hook on a really tight doll without a head puller. But they look AMAZING :D I am going to see if I can sew like... 1cm of fabric into the crotch area and if not I'm going to try TTYA jeans. I've had A LOT better luck with TTYA clothes and on the actual TTYA site they have some jeans that aren't listed skinny http://www.ttyadoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=1484&b_code=B20111229044547&c_code=C20111229044649 I plan to try these. They say "slim" in the description but they look about the same as FT. And it's really the damn crotch that's the issue. My other TTYA pants fit like they were made for the nYID boy. The FT jeans are really nice looking so I hate to give up on them...

I actually wrote a book size PM to another girl asking me what fits nYID boys. I really need to get working on that spreadsheet document....

34. Thank you so much for the help! What about coats and shirts? Are FT's tight, like with the pants?

35. That... I can't help you. Actually. I bought an SD17 pink sweater for my SID Woman... when I get home I'll try it on my nYID boy. I never thought to try it on him. I did buy an SID Man plaid shirt and it is too big for him. I mean he can KINDA pull it off with the casual look but it's just... it looks like it's a size or two too big.

36. Thanks everyone for the silicone caps for a solution to black wigs, I have ordered some and can't wait for them to get here for my SD size dolls.

37. Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here goes: I have an EID Asa head on an SID body, purchased
late 2013. I am in love with her, but her hip joints are driving me crazy! Every time I pick her up she face plants at the hips and dumps her wig and head cap in my lap. I tried sueding, but it seemed to make it worse as it put more distance between the grooves and the little locking peg that fits into them. Has anyone else had this problem, and do any of you have a solution to make her pose better without going face first every time I touch her? Thanks in advance!

38. My Pamela has a similar issue... her right leg bends at the knee at any slight movement also. Try pulling the legs out one at a time to adjust the tension. I did that with Lydia, and it seems to have helped some (although her knee keeps doing that x.x gonna try hot glue sueding it later)....

the only thing else I could suggest is, maybe she needs tightened a bit?

39. I don't know if this will help at all, but...my SID Grace was exactly like that when I got her, which made her the first doll I ever felt compelled to restring. Between tightening quite a bit - I probably shortened the elastic a good inch or two - and some pretty heavy sueding, she pretty much settled down. (And stating the obvious, but do make sure her little locking things are pulled up tightly and strung facing the right way.) She's still not my best poser, but at least she doesn't do that annoying flopping face plant anymore!

40. how are the parts in the hips supposed to be positioned? Lydia's tend to get pulled into the hole in her torso where the elastic goes through when I'm repositioning her... wasnt sure if they were supposed to do that or what. They never seem to really lock into place to hold her sitting upright either like Henry does. I can only really hear them click when I position them for her to stand.... but then her knee pops and she collapses if her weight shifts a little or I bump her x.x it is only the right knee too... I dont know why that one does it but her left one doesnt :/

41. Sounds to me like she needs restringing. You're going to need to tighten that girl she's floppy. :) I pull the elastic out to see if it's still "tight". If I can stretch it like a rubber band - replace it. Rubber bands are meant for shooting at people, not stringing dolls. But I've only replaced the string in one of my dolls. Most of the time I have to shorten it. I tie a not farther down (about an inch to an inch and a half) That's typically how much they are going to need to be tightened. Then see if that length works before cutting.
Of course at the end I always do the "shake test". I hold her by the legs at the knees and give her a slight shake. She shouldn't flop (either way). Then hold the torso and shake (a little harder) to see how floppy/tight the legs are. If they dangle - too loose. If they kick - too tight. And usually only one leg kicks - that means only that leg is tight. I had this happen on my Stella. I restrung her legs again just making sure the string was even and properly clamped on the other side and it fixed the problem.

42. Not sure who you were talking to.... but...

I usually base whether or not my dolls need tightened by how far I can pull the legs out (looking to see how much elastic there is between the hip joint and leg after I pull it out)... but the way the IH girls are strung, I dont know if this will work... she felt like she was really tight in the legs when I first got her... I couldnt even pull her foot out that far. But once I pulled her legs out one at a time (per the instructions for tension), that made it so that I could take her feet off. But her right leg is still kicky(?).

I think before I even try restringing her (since pulling the elastic up on her and Henry is REALLY hard for me to do.... weak wrists x.x ...possible grip problems too... my hands hurt sometimes around the thumb area while working out/after gripping stuff for awhile) I will see if I can just play with her leg tension some more and get it to cooperate. Also... I have no idea how far down the knot is in their torsos :/ I didnt see it when I did pull up on their elastic (took off Henry's head, and tried playing with the grooves on Lydia for head position). I used my hemostat to pull both of theirs.... and I cant position Lydia's head on the front little groove using those (or anything else I dont think) without almost gouging her head in the process or losing the S-hook and elastic down her neck x.x

43. I have to ask - is this faceplant an issue with nYID dolls, too?

44. sorry! I was replying to Ayame... but it could work for you too. Hemostats are really hard for pulling I find. A head puller is much more useful if you are pulling elastic. Hemostats are great for holding elastic from shooting down a leg hole :) The "knot" sits about the same place the knot for the arm elastic sits so just right around the breast line. I plan on making a video this weekend to demonstrate what I'm talking about and I'll take apart my SID Woman to restring her because she's loose so you can see what everything looks like and where it should (and shouldn't) go :)

"Faceplanting" is an issue with every doll and with every company. It's due to a doll being strung too loose - typically. The problem occurs from my SID Woman to my LUTS Honey Delf. The problem I had with restringing at first was figuring out how much elastic goes in the doll (i.e. how much shorter to make the elastic) That's the frustrating part of restringing the same doll 3-4 times because you didn't shorten the elastic enough OR shortened it too much (why you never CUT the elastic until you are 110% sure). If you have all the proper tools... restringing is a breeze. I restrung my Leeke Lion last weekend and my mom was impressed out how quickly I can do it now. My only problem is .... Iplehouse spoiled me on the SID and MARKED the legs L or R so that when I went to restring all my other dolls...my JID girl for instance.... I had to restring her 4 times because I didn't keep her legs separate.... because Iple doesn't mark the JIDs. And Leeke doesn't mark their dolls either. Nor does LUTS. L and R legs will be my downfall.

45. off the current topic but I went to post 'set' of pic with an EID & nYID.... and there wasn't a photo thread that covered them all... so I made one.. lol

[h=1]Iplehouse nYID, SID, EID and hybrids Photo Spam Part 01[/h]
now back to regular programming ;p

faceplanting is a "stringing" issue not a 'doll specific' issue... although some companies are more prone to poor initial stringing?

46. I've found the face planting and hip thing to be an Iple issue. I have restrung three of my dolls and oh holy f*%# they still flop at the hips. The boys not as much, Alex is the one (of the boys) I've restrung and tightened, and his issue lies with the ankles, boy can't be left along and has taken many a dive to the floor. But Ember on the other hand, stands solid even in heels, but no matter how many times I've restrung her, how tight she is, she flips at the hips. Lacie, who is brand new and on a really good stringing, does it too but not as much as Ember. Josh flops everywhere but he's loose and I'm not restringing him until my tools come in. Andy's still really, REALLY tight and I can barely get his head off sometimes, but his hips wiggle. I won't go over Rosalie much because she's a JID and needs new strings, they don't even stretch anymore in her arms, they just pull fully tight and she can't use her double inner arm joints because of this. But she makes Josh feel like he's strung tight.
I think Iple's flop, especially the ladies, because they have such long legs and big hips. The girls carry their weight in their legs and hips as to where the boys its all in their chests and arms and torsos, why Alex has such a hard time standing alone or without his boots. His center of gravity makes him tip.

47. ah... that makes a lot of sense! After I hot glue sueded Henry, I havent really had any problems with him.... but Lydia cant be moved at all once I've gotten her in position or her right knee bends and she goes down x.x When I'm holding her to reposition her after that, she flips forward :/ I think I'm going to try fixing her leg tension and hot glue her and see if this helps at all... I think if I could just keep her right leg from bending that maybe she will stand okay. I just wish I knew why she doesnt want to sit up.... I have a feeling it might have to do with her leg tension/hip part positioning.... It is quite funny how Henry can lock into place and sit straight but Lydia leans backwards O.o..... wasn't it the old EID male body that wouldnt sit up before?

48. Oooh. I'll have to make a note to not leave my boy standing up during photoshoots without using something to keep him from toppling. Thanks!

49. I think it also has to do with the dolls being made by hand, so there are some differences in them posing and moving wise. Josh's right knee sticks, Alex's ankles are loose and slippy, Andy's elbows can't pose for anything, Ember's hips flop, Lacie's chest joint likes to slide, and Rosalie well poor Rose is so old and has the old body that her everything isn't right lol
It depends on your boy honestly. After having Alex about two years I know that he can't be trusted. It's all in his ankles and oddly Josh is on the same body (SIDM) but his ankles are fine. Josh even with being strung loosey goosey can hold more complicated poses than Alex. I do need to redo Josh's arms though, he can't hold them up and the string comes out about an inch when I pull it.

Also I found a slight cheat, only did this once and it's on Lacie. I pulled her strings up on her neck while she was strung, clamped it with those medical clamper things, not even attempting to spell the name, and then tied a not, slipped the S hook back in, and unclamped. That was all I needed to do and she was perfect after that. Josh I probably will have to fully take apart ugh I hate stringing the boys they're so big

50. Just to give a bit of perspective here... you 'can' stand any sized doll... there is no single doll type that will never stand alone by it'self. It has to do with individual dolls, the person posing them and ... this is a 'big' and... the surface they stand on. It took me a year to learn how to convince my SoulDoll zenith boy to stand for 'me'... he'd do it for others but ya not me... Some dolls will even behave when you think they shouldn't... case in point.... bare heel feet on a 'rug like' doily mat... yep it worked... The stood for 20 minutes unsupported until "I" muffed it up trying to adjust the pose >< then B's knees buckled :dohOh and the surface was tilted in TWO directions no less... If you can suport them all the better for safety but if you don't want 'stands' showing you can learn... just practice someplace safe lol...

Leo and B... only his hand on her head is touching... otherwise they are free-standing and NOT touching... and she is in bare heel feet ^^ it works surprisingly well on some surfaces lol

51. I don't have any EID girls, only SID (and BID, lol), so I don't know if they're even constructed identically...but I can tell you that in the SID, positioning those rassumfrassum doohickeys was the most irritating thing I've ever had to deal with in a doll stringing - and I've done several since then. I took it as a huge accomplishment when they began to click at all; when I first got her they seemed to sit about 1/4" below where they needed to be. :| I've never seen them creep into the space where the elastic makes an "X" through the crotch, though, if that's what you mean. I don't think they're supposed to do that...

52. yeah that's what I meant... the very end of the widest part of it slips in there and gets stuck on occasion when I'm fiddling with her legs trying to pose her x.x I cant tell if this means she's too loose... too tight... too whatever. ugh. I'm not even sure how you are supposed to position those things. Because I will pull them up and adjust them to try to get them to click into place and stuff but then its like the top of the thigh swallows them and my maneuvering has accomplished nothing.

53. When I said Alex doesn't stand alone, I meant he'll stand, oh yeah he can stand, it's the leaving him like that. Sometimes he's a good boy and stays but other times, usually when I just pull back and am far enough I won't catch him, does he tip over. He's taken Em over way too many times too. That's why I'm still freaking AMAZED they stood and held this pose solid. They were touching, noses together and arms around one another. He went to topple in the beginning but I got him to stop. Usually I can get him to stand I just know not to leave that jerk alone.

Pose I was referencing:

54. I wish that I could photograph mine to show you where it sits and how it's strung, but I don't have a camera right now. Hopefully someone can grab a shot for you! Honestly, even though I do understand what they're trying to accomplish with that mechanism, and it works to some degree...I really think it needs some engineering improvement. No integral part should be as hit or miss as that thing is.

55. ^this.... ugh... I knew before buying these dolls that they were going to have posing challenges, but I wasnt prepared for how frustrating it was going to be. lol

56. I kind of wonder if some of this has to do with the composition of various people's doll families and when they joined the hobby?

My Iple dolls are just behind Volks for being stable standers (and it also depends on the era -- I have a circa-2003 Volks SD10 girl who will not stand for ANYTHING, and is problematic even with a stand!), and MANY of the dolls I've bought since 2005 are somewhere between difficult and impossible to stand reliably, even with wiring/sueding/hot glue/KIPS.

Not that individual, hand-cast dolls can't have issues (for years, all Lati dolls of a certain size had one wonky knee), or that people don't sometimes get defective or imperfect dolls -- but Iple has been the best at standing like a rock, for me.

My nYID, since someone asks, stands beautifully :)

57. Hi guys! :cheer

Today something unexpected happened; I got a full-time job. This means that I could put Vera, who I thought was out of reach for now, on layaway. In her story her love interest is supposed to be a guy who is a bit older and hardened, I've been thinking Lawrence would work for this guy since he looks pretty serious(and I've been in love with him since I saw the first concept pictures). The thing I'm wondering is: how does an EID man and an nYID woman look together? Do they look disproportional? I don't mind Vera being quite short as her character is supposed to be small but tough, but I'm afraid she might look too small. Inputs and pictures would be very appreciated! :3nodding:

58. If you look further up at Lady Tiku's post of her Bliss and Leo, you'll get an idea of the size difference. She has a few more images on her Flickr too if you need to see more ;) I would say it isn't too disproportionate at all. My brother is 6 foot and a few inches and this pic looks about the same scale wise of my brother and his wife

59. Yay! I'm so happy you were able to get a full-time job! I know all about job issues and getting a new dolly is the best! :D As far as a older and hardened love interest.... I don't know I feel the same about Lawrence. While I think Lawrence has one of the most unique faces - his face is actually more gentle and happy. He reminds me of Edan's carefree and sweet face. Of course a custom makeup can change anything. :)
But here you can see a blank Lawrence and see the smile he has. If you're looking for a more "hardened" EID ... there are a lot of options. Rex comes to mind. ceejay just got a beautiful Rex (the best one I've seen) Even Arvid could come across as more hard/cold. I am Arvid envy.... But I can't complain if you got Lawrence too! :)

For EID to nYID girl see this post above: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...-)-Part-04?p=11418696&viewfull=1#post11418696
This is Lady Tiku's EID Leonard and nYID Bliss.
