I am looking for more information on EID (iplehouse superheros) patterns the basic stuff please t-shirts, pants, musle shirts, cargo pants ect...
as soon as Joby comes home (EID KAMAU) Ill be making stuff for him. when i do, ill post some patterns up!
I made a pants pattern by scaling up the Undead Threads pants. You should be able to do the same with existing SD patterns. Use this information to scale appropriately. Official specs: * Height : 70 cm * Weight : 3kg * Circumference of head : 23.5 cm (9.2 inch) * Circumference of neck : 16 cm * Circumference of chest : 38.9 cm * Width of shoulder : 19 cm * Length of arm : 24 cm * Circumference of wrist : 8 cm * Circumference of arm : 14cm * Circumference of waist : 28.7 cm * Circumference of pelvis : 36.7 cm * Circumference of thigh : 21 cm * From waist to tiptoe : 43.5 cm * Circumference of ankle : 11 cm * Length of foot : 10.2 cm Extra info for making wrist and ankle cuffs wide enough: Hands: 6.2 cm at their widest. Feet: 5 cm wide and 10.5cm long.
The official info isn't all that accurate, actually. The girl that put her MNM head on the EID body found the neck to only be 13.5 cm around, not 16. That's a pretty big oops, and that's just the neck.
They may have measured the neck from the bottom of the neck to give you an idea about clothing fitment and not alternate head fitting? I've got some owner dimensions that are right inline with the official specs for the ones I needed.
I've just hosted up some EID pants patterns I made using the Undead Threads patterns as a basis: http://picasaweb.google.com/deltafoxtrotzulu/BJDPatterns# Use their PJ/boxers instructions as a guide. Zoom into the pics to get the Full Size versions. I've placed 1" markers and these all use 96dpi. Be careful taking the gray seam lines as fact. These are for when the pants can still open up a bit with a fly. Use the black lines for drawstring or elastic closures. There may be a little tuning needed on the gray lines. I did them as adjustments after everything was sewn so I cannot be sure how much I took in. The pants may seem a bit long, but I always french seam the bottom so that brings them back up a bit. I've used these to create these white denim drawstring pants and I'll post some pics of button-up blue jeans I made using these as well: I've also got a shirt patterns I'm still tweaking. I'll post that when it's ready.
Thanks DeltaFoxtrotZulu! Just want I wanted! I have lost of nice knits waiting to be comfy sweats as a starting place.
Thank you very much! Now he doesnt have to be naked when he arrives...although, that wouldnt be too bad.
Here's the 4-pocket blue jeans I created. I use the hosted patterns as a base and the rest of the help came from Independant Living Institute.
Added the shirt pattern to the same site. It's seems to have worked out pretty good. I shrank the collar on the pattern since it turned out huge on my current try. Tested it and it's much better sized now. Use UD's SD13 boy shirt instructions Sleeves are a bit long and a bit wide, so again french seams recommended. Might want to take another 1cm off as well on width and length depending on what look you're trying for. You also get to see Aesalon's guns in his Roland the Gunslinger outfit.
I had some trouble trying to print out the shirt front/back pieces in the right size so I fixed the pattern pieces slightly and re-uploaded them. It seems if the pieces aren't about 10.5" high, they scale up when printing. Keeping them 10.5" high makes sure they come out in the right size. I'm also working on a new garment piece. Want to see how it comes out first.
DOH! I screwed up when I uploaded the pants pattern. I just checked it and it was an older, way too big version. I've uploaded the correct pants pattern now. Sorry. The shirt pattern is confirmed good, but the sleeves are a bit wide. You might want to narrow them a bit. The new pattern is coming along pretty well. Still need to go a bit further before it's ready.
All I've been able to find on DoA are the official measurements for the EID dolls, and I'm worried about how accurate they are, since a few discrepancies have been pointed out elsewhere. Is there any way some lovely person with an EID could take unofficial measurements to share? I'd like to start working on a wardrobe for my boy... Way way early, since I'm so far from getting him, but it's something to keep my mind off being broke, right? XD I'm adept enough with sewing that I'm sure I'll do fine as long as I've got measurements to work from, but I wanna make sure they're the right ones! Please and thank you. ^^
Awh! Well I hope he comes home soon! I'm trying to make do with the official measurements. I'll just have to wait and see if anything needs to be taken in, once I get my boy. ^^
My man should be here in a few days hopefully then I can test out the patterns. Has anyone found any more patterns?
I've added the Trenchcoat/Duster pattern from UT scaled up to EID boys size. Unfortunately I've not been able to find the directions for this pattern anywhere, but the seam/hem order with all UT stuff is pretty self explanatory. I'll post some pics of my boy in his coat soon. I always have a little trouble with collars. The ones in the pattern, seem a bit small to me, you may have to make them wider(but probably no taller).
Wow, DeltaFoxtrotZulu, that looks really good! Thanks so much for sharing! Is there a specific percentage you're enlarging the UT patterns by, or are you having to figure each one out individually?
I bought a new printer today and I printed these out and they look huge. I measured the square so we will see how they come out. I'm gonna work on something and if it works I'll post it.
I modify width and height seperately. I don't think there is a consistent scale. I always work from the widest measurement for a base. For example, with shirt it was shoulder fit and then how tall to fit waist and the will the armholes fit the arms. I make a muslin of everything too to make sure they work.
Are you saying to measure the pattern's shoulder area and then measure the shoulder on the doll to figure the difference? Once you get your shoulder measurement then how do you know how much to enlarge by?
Straight ratio's are your best bet for making the patterns bigger. Then stretch the whole thing until it's tall enough for him. Adjust the shoulder and neck holes as appropriate. I try to stretch those sections separately to keep them sizes right. Ratio: x / y = z / w x = result you need. y = dolls shoulder width. z = patterns width w = patterns intended doll shoulder width. Then you can stretch the pattern width to suit. Then lengthen the pattern using similar means. This ratio has to be redone for each part of the outfit, like sleeves must be stretched based on arm length, etc. I'm not sure I used this approach for everything, but this gets you to a good starting place. Then I make a muslin and adjust if necessary. My approach to sewing isn't always 100% off the pattern, there are some things like sleeve length and pants length that I adjust on the fly for the piece I'm making.
I feel stupid. This is just not settling in my brain. I am so lost on how to even get started. I hear what you are saying its just I dont know where to begin. You are talking about ratios and stretching but how do I do that??? So sad
draw a line down from the middle of the shoulder to the hem (straight) and then cut on that line. You open the line up or close it (overlap the paper) on that line. If you open it put a piece of paper under it and tape it down. Make sure to measure how much you want to increase or decrease it. To lengthen it do the same thing put but put the line through the middle of the chest or the thigh area (not the waist). and go across the pattern. Hope that helps could look up "flat pattern alterations" on line and see what you get for pics... deltafoxtrot correct me if I've got it wrong for your patterns
This is how I do it in a more computer oriented way: - Open pattern Back piece in paint program(I suggest Paint.net) (back pieces are normally cut on fold so the piece is half-width, this method still works). - Use selection box to measure # pixels widest point.(400?) - Get SD13 boy shoulder width(12cm?) - Get EID shoulder width (19cm) - Do the ratio math: (19 * 400) / 12 = 633 - Stretch the back piece till it's 633 pixels wide. - Repeat for pattern piece height(using shoulder to crotch as doll measurement). Measure armholes and neck holes and make sure they are adjusted appropriately as well for EID big neck and biceps. -Switch paint program to giving you information in CM or Inches and compare the pattern pieces measurement to EID. Allow for seam allowances and doll thickness when deciding if pieces appear to be right size. -Then try to print it out at the proper size. I generally use 96 or 100dpi. I've found making sure the whole image 'canvas'(not the pattern piece itself) is 10.5"x'8" makes sure the printer doesn't scale it up or down on me. Make more sense? This isn't all I end up doing, but it's a good start. I sometimes adjust the lines of the pattern to suit (shoulder seam angle, etc).
Ok I got that. I will just be cutting alot. What I dont get is how to enlarge on the comp. Ok I will try to get that program and give another shot.
You can use the same math to get new image dimensions and resize the image. Then check the pattern dimensions.
Wow, that looks fantastic! It's so great of you to share - Now I'm gonna hafta make a trenchcoat, too. I've been having a blast making doll clothes, but I think they'd be working a lot better if I actually had a doll who could try them on... :P
Not bad at all for first attempts at these patterns. I don't do the math, I use the actual body of the doll to tweek my patterns like a dress form. It works best for me and I have found it is more accurate in the end. I'll ask around and if I can get my hands on an EID boy from my dolly buddies I will get to work on some patterns for them. Right now I am working on Junior Delf patterns.
I've got to tell ya'all, You're awesome!!! I'm going to adjust your patterns for my JID. I did adjust the James Jeans patterns for "MSD Jeans" on the computer until I got the "clearance" for the thighs and waist, and I'm hoping it's going to work because I also straightened the legs (took away the flare). They should print up at 100% the right size, but you know, they don’t print up right from the source…. So either something is wrong with my computer, or ??? Anyway, I’ll upload what I did here in case anyone is interested (JID size). BTW, James doesn’t include the belt loops, but I guess you just kinda make em up as you go, eh? Just know they're not tested! I just ordered my doll today, and I can't find clothes for him!!! Waaaah, so I have to sew up something to cover him with! And I finally found you all here, thank you! thank you! thank you!!!!!
None of the links in this thread work anymore. Are there new links or perhaps new patterns? Does anyone know if there are patterns for sale somewhere that fit EID man? Or perhaps patterns made for other big male dolls as there are for more around now than there were in 2010? Please, anyone?
DeltaFoxtrotZulu´s patterns are still around, even though the links in this thread may no longer all work. Just google-image search for "EID" or "Iplehouse" + "sewing pattern" and you will find them. Most are on Pinterest, for example on this board: BJD BOY OUTFITS... You can recognize them by DeltaFoxtrotZulu´s avatar.
