    2. heh it looks odd cuz it's twisted a teeny bit... there is only the upper, lower and peanut ... it is really odd since it looks like a single joint instead of a double from the inner elbow... it locks but not as many notches I think? but what I meant is I have to pull like nuts to get the elbow joint itself to come out of the upper to allow the extra bend. At first I thought with the uppers being new that they might have made it too small it was so tight.. but both arms and the knees were ridiculously tight at one end. Since my girls have all been so loose this is new to me... do the joints get easier to move? And yes the SID joint is different than the EID but I'll have to wait until I strip both of shirtsleeves and try matching arm poses to see the difference ><

As for the wig... it is my Soul Doll Marauder's (full set) wig M is my icon guy ^^ So that particular wig is a bit hard to come by and M looks just weird in any other wig lol.

    3. Oh fiffle, your edit made this question look stupid.

    4. He is my first SID O_o... didn't the old guys have a peanut?... damn I forget the name of who had shown off all the joints and range.. you know... the one with the 'pets' always hanging out in skimpy's ^^ I didn't think that was an extra piece? lol... oops?

It was [h=1]JennyNemesis[IMG][/h]who showed how to work SID elbows and .. well pose them ;p

    5. Nope, neither of my SIDs has a peanut! That's why I was so curious. Aaand, I don't think it's an 'old' design. If you look at the pictures in Doll Choice, you can see that it's just a joint between the upper and lower arm...no peanut! That's why I was excited. I love the EID arms, and I would be so happy if they'd add that extra piece to the SIDs. But alas, I think it was probably just for Edan and his macho arms.

    6. Both the Claude I had a year ago and my current Leonard have really awkward peanuts/joint parts. I have no idea what they were like before then, since Addiction Claude was my first Iple! These like to "stick" in the bottom half of the arm unless you specifically pull them out. The knees are similar, but I can't remember which half the peanut sticks in, because I rarely fold his legs past 90 degrees. (He usually stands on my desk, and is wearing pants when I do make him sit down.)

At first it was hard for me to get used to, but I like it now, because the joints don't flop around if you don't want them to. It's really nice. :) I'm very curious to see how the nYID girl body moves in comparison.

Edit: I'm not sure what the technical difference between "peanut" and "joint part" is. They're definitely not peanut-shaped in Iples, since they keep the outer silhouette smooth and sculpt grooves for pose angles, but generally a double male joint like that is called a peanut regardless of its shape. Whatever it's called, you guys know what I'm talking about, LOL.

    7. Hey Lady Tiku what camera did you get? That picture of Edan was fabulous! I am thinking about getting a new camera soon... and if your new point and shoot can take that nice of pics, I might end up getting one :P

also..... pinterest has become a new love of mine.... been filling boards like crazy for Henry and Lydia... speaking of Lydia... she has a full name now! Lydia Jane Evans :D I dont think I posted that on here yet? If anyone wants to see their boards let me know and I'll post a link...... but ugh making boards for them just makes me want to buy Pamela even more x.x I hope she can come home next year.... was thinking around Christmas, but if I'm lucky she'll be coming home earlier than that ^^

    8. Wow, curiouser and curiouser! I really like the EID peanuts, and I had no idea they changed the SID body since I got my boys two years ago; Iple usually makes quite the fuss when they're breaking out a new and improved bod. But my guys look exactly like the boy in the Doll Choice pics...unless of course the peanuts have been "stuck" in the lower half of the arms and I just never noticed them! :XD: I don't think so, but I'll have to check it out tomorrow...

    9. It would be a shame if they're stuck or fused in there--but it'd be weird if they changed the design, too! Keep us updated. I'm so curious now. :o

    10. Popping in with some new thread spam. Here are nYID Oscar and Audrey in their new Traveler and Misty Pink sets. She's not really that tall in comparison with him. She is both wearing heels and standing on a stand with a 1/2 inch wooden base.

    11. Camera is Panasonic zs40 Lumix, newest model (stolen one was the now discontinued older one) It's about $425 CAD base cost. And be careful viewing Pinterest! Time tends to accelerate at an alarming rate... minutes turn into hours! lol... and link a board.. I'm there too. I'm hunting out looks for my dolls period wear ^^ I also have some 'doll' boards lol. And woot! for early dolls? *crosses fingers for early*

I'm new enough I can't really know same different.. *shrugs* A good pic of Edan's elbow is here it's only the upper, lower and w/e you want to call the ONE piece in between? And they are not fused (thank god) just tight as sin. I also only know Souldoll zenith boy jointing other than IH. Even my tiny Enyu is more or less the same ... I think... O_o.... soo inexperienced in 'variety' of doll joints.

me too now LOL... be funny if you were missing out on mobility.

I also finally got my mitts on some 'clamp' tools so I can change hands/feet and maybe try to tighten my girls. Poor Jessica's hip hooks are almost gone (sunk in) but despite that the little twit stood free for me last night lol. So much to do I need some sleep so I can *_*

    12. Those SID elbows have been around awhile.... I remember someone showing me how to pose them thinking the EIDs had those........... and they dont. At least I'm pretty sure that is the same design that one older SID had (Pretty sure it was a Lee that was at least a couple of years old or so). I wish the EIDs had those elbows actually x.x With how heavy the arms are on my guy, they dont like to stay how I put them at all and he cant hold them up on his own/barely bumping them makes them move. He might just need some tightening of his arm elastic but... I dont actually care too much for the EID elbows...... Cant wait to get my hands on an SID to test them out.

and.......... here are the boards for Lydia and Henry :P

-goes to check out camera- thanks :D

    13. They make a cute couple, vermont chick!

    14. The both are cute together :3

There are no changes on the joints parts on a SID, their are a part you can put out and also make the joint stuck with the upper arm and move the lower arm, that's the joints.

yesterday I just weighed my two dolls because I was of the opinion that Jin is heavier than Edan and so it is, Edan is 30g lighter XD And also I can pose Edan much easier, I just do not know the reason maybe because I know exactly how I have to pose him or what I want from him. o.O

    15. Not sure what they changed, but I think she looks more alive now - less doll-like than the first version. :thumbup

    16. Well, they did not change face ups much, but her face is less round, jaw is more visible and I think her chin is a bit longer. Her nose is a bit different also, not sure about lips, they look different, but maybe it's just a photo. IMO she looks much better now, but this is only first preview, so not too much to say. We need to wait for rest I guess ;)

    17. Oooh, based on this preview she looks much better! I love her jawline. :D

    18. *swoon* Her cheekbones are amazing! I'm smitten with the new scarlet. I'll have to put her on my wishlist, as there are to be no more dolls this year for me.

    19. Her nose looks different. I like her much better. :)

    20. Ooohhh, yes!!

Love the new Scarlet -- they listened to what we were saying about the jaw shape and the 'smile line' area, I think. She also appears to have a bit more definition under her eyes, used smaller and better-set eyes, and I feel like they've tweaked the mouth-corners a little, although that could be the face-up.

MUCH better -- I also like the face-up, which feels more lively and intense. (I'm not 100% sure what they've changed, just that it's an improvement.)

And congratulations on Edan's arrival, Lady Tiku!!!

      -- A :D

    21. Okay! So they are there (d'oh), but it's not too surprising that I didn't know it - they are so tight that a grown man could barely make them budge, and he really gave it his all. They are completely unusable as they are right now. *sigh* I don't think they're actually stuck or fused, but I definitely see some restringing in my immediate future.

Sadly, I can't test these to see what the difference is. Do you know? The ones in the EID can be sort of pulled outward and then locked on a little lip thingie. It's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but it is effective, and I like the extreme added poseability it allows. From the lukewarm comments, I'm starting to think I'm the only one, though.:sweat

    22. You're definitely not.
I don't own EID guys, but the EID girls and SID girls have the same basic locking mechanism only different ways around. With the SIDs the front bows by itself and the back part has to be pulled out and locked, with the EID ladies it's the other way around:

Craptastic pic, but I hope it shows what I mean. Also the EIDs have a full "peanut" and the SIDs don't, they have a kind of stacked joint (lower arm going into "half-peanut" going into upper arm).

    23. it shows perfectly the different but I think I would like to have the EID joints :/ the SID Joints moves out sometimes, I'm afraid the joints will break when this happen but I want a YID Body for my SIDs anyway I think their are also better to pose around.

    24. New Scarlet looks better, i think, i like her lips and jawline!

    25. It's a great pic; it illustrates the difference perfectly. :thumbup Thanks! I prefer the full peanut aesthetically (the other looks like some kind of weird compound fracture or something equally horrific), but as long as they can scratch their nose, fuss with their hair or hold a cup of tea, I'm good! I'm looking forward to the results of restringing...

    26. I will maybe add new!Scarlet to my wish list and drop Zera out.. I can't wait to see her pics so I could decide which one is my Brenda, I like that new attitude a lot.

Terra's own wig finally, slowly getting her needed items. I hate floating heads!

    27. Terra is marvelous, Adalwolf, the wig really suits her.

And as for Scarlet I think she looks great. If you want to compare new and old look:

    28. I picked up Harace today from the post office. Here is a quick pic. I really like her in PG!

    29. Talking of Scarlett, I myself MUCH prefer the one on the right - is she the older version? Right now I've a Zera on layaway. The Zera sculpt is pretty much a doll version of Shin Min Ah LOL so I'll be doing a gumiho outfit AND a Joseon-era hanbok getup...

    30. can't wait to see it. I watched my girlfriend is a gumiho a while ago and loved the movie :dance I hope she will turn out like you want her :XD:

    31. my quick thoughts on new Scarlet?... noses, lips, cheecks jaws or w/e aside.... what she has now that she lacked before to me... is maturity. This version looks like she's lived a little (or a lot) ... the old version is more suited to the 16 year old self when she first meets Leo at her coming out. ^^ The new faces can show a depth of character the other just had not had the time yet to live... hope you get my meaning ><

@Celga... I'm going to have to stop reading your comments when dad is around >< they make me laff.... out loud.... a lot. He keeps giving me looks like it's time to call in the white jacket men lol. I nearly spit my coffee at the monitor with your 'compound fracture' remark. and how long have you not known about that joint LOL?

@ all the new resin kids... wowie! nice ^^ tha wedding dress is great!

Sooner than I think I will prolly have one of each size doll and in each sex too to do comparisons... but only in the new bodies (nYID and renewals). Note I had not planed this Iplhouse!... Not all at one time (stupid 'themes' >< that I can't live with out ><) .... my shiny red button has been beat so much it's getting pink and dull looking... I hope they don't break it before I get what I need ;p

    32. Yay! Terra!

And I think Harace looks so much better in owner photos than she did in the promo's. If I wasn't in love with Aurora's perpetual resting frowny face (with the right face-up, of course), I'd seriously consider Harace for the same character.

And... wowowowow new Scarlet is everything I wanted. She's even MORE perfect for my femmeChris's best friend/battle buddy. I just drew that character yesterday with that EXACT same smirk. She has a jaw similar to Aaliyah now (especially with that smirk), but they still look very different.

    33. Yeah, well...*coughtwoyearscough*, but don't look at me, look over there, it's...the, um...awesome new Scarlet! :sweat Actually, those boys were the first of my IH crew, so I had no idea what to expect. Even mistaking the tin woodman-like peanuts for single joint elbows, they were so much more posable than some of my previous resin that I never really thought about it...even though every other size I've gotten since then, right down to the BIDs, has one. So yeah, I bestow upon myself the Duh Award. :P But really, you can't imagine how completely immobile they are. In their current state, they might as well not be there.

Of course now I'm itching to haul out a crowbar and make those things work, but they'll just have to wait until I have time this weekend. (Have I mentioned how much I dislike restringing? Bleh.)

And on a different note, just for the record, I really do think Scarlet is awesome. I was afraid they were going to take away her smirk and just make her girly and cute, but the changes are subtle and she looks great. I still don't love the faceup, and I actually liked her slightly bulkier nose, but the lips are more realistic, the jaw and chin are an improvement, and she definitely stays on my want list! :D

    34. lmao one :dohAward to the lady!... But! I don't think you need to restring for 'this' issue... just work the joint a bit.... I think it's just tight like a cork tight. more like a hinge that needs greasing (no I don't mean I plan to slick it up some how). I think just pulling and bending the joint and a bit of twisting should work... the knees 'seem' to bend more easily already. So hold off on the crowbar and make like tug-o-war on him ;p It's like they were assembled on a hot day and things just sorta got 'stuck' in place? heh just had the thought to stuff him in the fridge for a minute lol.

As for Scarlet... she finally looks like a 'grown woman' who fits the age of Leonard better (she should be only 2-3 years younger). She is not a 'wish list' doll but in the distant future when extra dolls beyond the ones to fit what I want... maybe ^^.

    35. Thanks a lot! ^^ It gives her some color, she's currently only gray-black-white until I can get colorful clothes! And thank you so much for posting a Scarlet comparison :aheartbea The new one is truly better and all those Fairyland plasticface Barbie vibes are gone, that jaw :love And the whole expression is full of power, not just a teenage girl smirking.

Congratulations, she looks very tender and kind..

Yes it's the older version and I'm wondering are they going to sell her or break the whole model/mold.. :o

...and lol I'm actually trying to think do I want Zera or Scarlet haha. Zera is very unique but something bothers me, I haven't seen my-kind-of Zeras and Iple's pics don't help.. not even blank and she has something I dislike and something I like a lot, but that Scarlet's new pic: I like every single detail.. oh no.

      Thank you!!! :)

Yay yes XD she's still alive..

And I have the same wowowowo feeling because that smile makes me think she's just seeing her possible pirate-story enemies dying or something hahaha, and of course she alone destroyed them all.. what a lady :drool But lol in my and gf's storyline the possible character would be Terra's teacher.. and almost bald with head/body tattoos like Mass Effect Jack has.

    36. EEEEEEE, Terra looks amazing!!! :aheartbea

And I love the idea of a Jack-style Scarlet -- she could totally rock that look!

      -- A <3

    37. mmm I think the new Scarlett looks more masculine, which is good

    38. I dont have any EID ladies sooo... I had no idea how much they were like the SID elbows... and I wish my EID guy had those :/ He has one little "shelf" for locking his lower arm in place... and the upper has a little place too, but when it comes to more movement or "levels" of posing... all I can do is slide his lower arm up over the peanut thing and like I said... barely hit his arm and that moves. or pops out completely and his arm looks broken x.x

    39. Thought I'd pop in the new thread and share a picture of my Harace, named Nora after one of my grandmothers, here:

Also, Miss Scarlet is looking gooood! I love her more refined features and that smile/smirk is great!!

      • x 1
    40. oh gods how I love this shot... it's like the last shot of 'mamma's gir at home' before heading off to the church and to her new life! ... that's a great photo spot

    41. LOL - you are too funny. I was thinking it was more of a "I have no good place to take pictures of larger dolls in giant dresses in my house" kind of photo!

    42. Oh the new scarlet! I mourn for my bank account!

    43. Wow, Nora is a beauty! Congrats, swazini :daisy

    44. swazini, I second that, your Nora is simply beautiful,

    45. His moves too easily and my SID boys' don't move at all, lol. In the case of yours...long sleeves, maybe? :sweat

So yeah, let's face it, these dolls still have posing issues. BUT - compared to the early joints, they're amazing...and Iple's are some of the best I've used. Eventually, I think they'll perfect them. :)

Callasdoll and swazini, I just have to say that your girls and their gowns are both gorgeous!! :aheartbea

    46. At least they arent super clunky looking! They still look rather nice depending on the angle you take photos so that's a plus ^^ My guy only has long sleeve shirts at the moment... and that is a pain because then I have to hold on to his arm a certain way when he has a shirt AND a coat on.... hence why it annoys me so when it pops out or wont stay cuz the shirt fabric is stuck in the joint XD

    47. So true. It takes me a long time to pose an Iple exactly how I want, but once they're posed, they're posed, and they look really cool and natural in clothing. So excited for my girl to arrive, since I've only posed the boys so far and I want to compare. :)

    48. Yes that's true :)

    49. This is an honest question, so don't laugh at me - I feel like a total newb for asking, but is there even such a thing as a BJD without posing issues? (I mean, vinyls are said to be amazing posers because they're lightweight and have strong joints due to their internal skeleton, but I'm talking about the ones with string. ;))

    50. Oh I think there is. :D I was so used to well-posing bodies that I had to let my IH guy go, I didn't have the patience to deal with him. .__. And some cheaper bodies tend to pose better in my experience. My Dragondoll is on a Demon Garden ver.2 body for example - which only has a hip joint in the torso so he can't slouch but otherwise he poses like a dream and stands like a rock. His ankles are made so that he can't fall over. I don't know what happened to the company though since I haven't seen them anywhere for years.
I've heard that Spiritdoll and Granado dolls pose very well too.

Let's be fair though: Iplehouse doesn't have it easy with those big and heavy bodies. But I still think they are overcomplicating the joints. Especially the ankles are in need of serious improvement.

    51. Ah, yeah, I should have specified that I was talking about the big guys. I have much better posers from other companies in the smaller sizes...but I have yet to deal with a 65 or 70 mm body that I prefer to these (I hated the Idealian bod so much for its lack of posability that it almost put me off the large sculpts permanently). It's true that the ankles are debatable, but I love the mobility joints in the thigh, and finally got used to the elbows - so now, as sidroq said, once they're posed they look really natural in clothing!

Then again, I certainly have not road tested all of the other companies, lol. The idea of hybrids doesn't really appeal to me that much, because I'm horribly retentive and even the slightest color difference would drive me nuts...but I'll admit that I'm quite curious about other people's experiences with them.

    52. This ^ lol.... yeah see I want to make a couple hybrids but I am seriously worried about color difference... so much so... ever since migidoll changed their resin color AGAIN, I've decided against getting soul doll double bodies for my boys and instead am planning on getting them on the new body migidoll is offering.... thank goodness it actually looks better than the old one! As for hybriding Iples... I dont know if I could do that... I'm also a perfectionist when it comes to proportion... so if it looks off, that's gonna be a huge issue.

    53. and the body should also looks good too XD I like the ringdoll body :/ but knowing the resin doesn't fits to iplehouse Resins makes me kinda disappointed. and you never know when companies will change the resin and suddenly you get actually one skintone who doesn't fits together anymore. :(

    54. My Nil, a WS Felix, is on a LUTS SSDF body in NS. The resin match is pretty damn close, and doesn't bother me that much at all since he's always covered up (boy can't dress for seasons other than winter or autumn). Some owners I know have also made hybrids with Spiritdoll and Volks bodies, which I am looking into because some of my characters simply aren't beefcakes. There is definitely going to be a gap under the chin, which would probably bother some of y'all, but having a wig on and the donut in helps quite a bit.

    55. Thought I'd share this picture of my Edan (still thinking about changing his name) that I took a few days ago.

    56. I haven't posted in this thread yet so here's a quick pic of Ember showing her Halloween spirit in her favorite skirt.

    57. My two Haraces--it's hard to believe they are the same sculpt as they are so different from each other.
