Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID ) Part 07

Oscar and Audrey spam for the new thread. They are the only large Iplehouse dolls I have left. Everyone else has been re-homed.

 

Yay, new thread! I can finally add my girl, who just came back from getting a face up!

...This picture is a little dark, but I just haven't had the time to take proper photos yet...

Now to find the perfect wig, shoes, and outfit!

I'll contribute a photo too! I took this a couple days ago when I was doing the trial run of everyone's (sans Danielle) costumes for a con I'm going to next week. The theme is 'heroes VS villains" so the trio is going as themselves. I spiced up Josh's costume and made Lacie her mask, Zander is basically the same lol. I'd take Danielle too but I don't have room and will be bringing home a doll (among other items I'm sure). I'm also taking Andy dressed as Spiderman and Ember dressed as Selene from the Underworld series, but those two are going on a separate day as the trio.

@artisticadelle Thank you! Gosh, that's a lot of large dolls to take to a con! How are you going to carry them all?

 

Haha well I'm taking Lacie, Josh, and Zander on Saturday and then Andy and Ember on Sunday. I bought a big rolling bag that I can strap them in and I can fit 3-4 big dolls in it, if two of the big dolls are nYIDs or an SID woman. Both of my SID boys and Lacie fit in there nicely and I could put a small doll in it too. I want to have room for stuff though because I plan to hit up all the shopping booths hahahaha!!

 

@Animethemed , your Stella is amazing! I would also like to know who made her face-up. I am paying off my own Stella, so i need to find a make up artist.

 

Such a lovely girl, and in a black color scheme, too! I am so jealous! ^_^ She's my favorite female sculpt from Iplehouse, although I doubt I could ever afford her.

 

so I have come to a conclusion.... people who restring dolls (especially the big guys) and don't mind it... are one of two things.
Numb from the experiance so don't care anymore....

my headless EIDm model body lol... it's sold (just the last 50 + w/e shipping is) I need stringing hooks badly lol.

I wish Iplehouse would restock the new wigs for the EID SID women already. My Jade ( Zera) could use another from them in a different color.

 

The only way I'll restring an EID is with a couple pair of straight blade forceps and a shoelace...and a chopstick.

I have a question for those who have SID girls with small and large busts. How big is the difference in circumference of those busts? I want to commission the dress, but the lady have only doll with small bust and she said that the dress will not fit properly on the doll with large bust. Thank you in advance for any information or suggestion.

 

Both ladies are gorgeous. Does anyone have a Soo on the nYID body? Think I have made a final decision on who I'll be getting after I get Hazel her new body.

Oh, @ArvenSS, your Mari looks adorable. What sculpt is she?

 

I really want to purchase Luna even though she was never on my wish list, but she was one the few dolls I thought of buying when I was shopping for my first doll. Sadly I don't think I can afford her even with layaway.

@Troublestar it's the set that @EmeraldPixie linked above, she just isn't wearing the cardigan. I found the dress to be a little too short for her in person so I got her some white capri leggings to wear under it. And thank you for the compliments on her!

It took me quite a long time to finally bring a Mari home - now that she's here, I am loving the sculpt's versatility. She looks great in so many different combinations of hair and eyes.

@ArvenSS, @artisticadelle and @Jill in WV - all of your "incarnations" of Mari are so pretty . She is great sculpt.

@Twisty - I think that Dexter with B face up is normal skin tone.

It looks like normal skin to me, but it could also be white skin that has been liberally blushed. Iple's normal is quite pale, and white skin is not paper white, but has a tiny bit of pink in it.

 

I'm so enjoying the Mari love....

Oh my gosh! It's almost hard to beleive all 3 are the same sculpt! She's so versatile! I love seeing the different aspects that can come to life in a sculpt.

He's based on a fantasy setting OC so I ditched the SWAT clothes, I got a nice shirt to go with him so he won't be standing around naked though. I'm hoping some of my existing pants that haven't fit anyone else yet will work with him. Dressing him is gonna be fun since I only have regular boys but like... if some of my SD shirts shirts don't button up all the way it's fine. He's a casual guy.

My boy is going to be based on a really old character of mine that means a lot to me named Kirkley o: he'll also be a fantasy type character, kind of an amalgamation of all gods and kings of the sea o: like Poseidon and Neptune kind of thing. I'll be commissioning custom wig and eyes to go with him c: he's pretty casual though--my wife plans on helping me make all of his clothes since I couldn't afford any from Iplehouse just yet. Very much a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy!

If we're allowed to, I could link to some concept artwork of his character I've done here (SFW) as well!

Hmm o: well the only way I can think to do it is by putting in some spaces, so if you would like to see the SFW concept art of Kirkley, just take out the spaces? :>

Wow, all those Maris. Thanks for sharing! That sculpt has been on my list for a long while, but I don't actually have a character for her, so... I think my Barahan would like the company, though.

 

Thanks so much! Ahhh....a favorite? It's so hard to choose....I don't think I can pick a favorite. They all become such individual characters....I do love how one sculpt can achieve such different looks. The one on the right was my first and I got her when she first was released by Iplehouse. The middle one I was able to get Lyn Raftis to do her faceup in a custom look and she turned out so perfect! And the one on the left is my newest Mari I got just this year and her faceup is by Cristy Stone. So it's nice to have such a variety.

I'm not 100% sure, because I am not her first owner, but I believe she has the second of three faceups shown for the Elemental Guardian version of Mari.
Her faceup is beautifully done and looks wonderful in person as well.

Speaking of Evas ... mine requested a dog ages ago (bigger than a beagle), now Iple came up with them The only trouble is deciding on one ... with the heads I'm planning to get I definitely have to pick, otherwise I might have been tempted to get two I was leaning towards the bull terriers, but the Bostons are so freaking adorable! Also, Katie (Bliss) is now mad at me because Lauren is getting her dog while she still doesn't have her cat ... but somehow ... is it just me or do the doggies look lots more realistic than the cats?

 

I think it might be that those dogs are short-haired breeds, so the flatness of the resin doesn't look too strange, while the proportions of the cats look like they're supposed to be kind of fluffy, but it's not that convincing. Perhaps if the artist had made deeper texture grooves on the cats it would look better, but obviously there's going to be a limit with this medium.

Yoooooo I love his style! He seems like a really exciting character to bring to life . Are you gonna try to find similar glasses too?

I'm basing mine on this character of mine, I think I might need to get a custom wig for him too since it's really hard to find nice medium/short wavy styles.

 

Omg your character is so cute!!! I can't wait to see him as a doll--yeah personally I would look into getting a custom mohair wig for him because those are really nice for styling purposes And thank you, I would love to find glasses like that for him! *__* he's always had them so I hope I can find some suitable ones.

This may be a silly question but has anyone tried modifying American Girl/AG knockoff glasses for these SID boys? >>" He'll be my first SD so I'm not sure how big his head will be in comparison to my Yo and MSDs, cause right now those are my only hope :C

 

Pretty sure I tried a pair of AG glasses back when I was looking for a pair for my Hwa-Lan, and they were just plain too large and I ended up breaking them in an attempt to make them tighter (but that was years ago, so I'm not entirely sure of their source). Dollmore has some cheap (lensless) options that can be modified, however, and I know there are others out there.
