Sewing resources for Iplehouse EID women-patterns etc.

Jan 6, 2010

    1. Since she is so difficult to sew for...a place specifically for patterns for her would be great.

Place any resource links, free patterns and tips on sewing for her under this thread.

    3. :( I guess nobody has any patterns to share for these big girls??

      It's a great idea Pam......

    4. First off, I have an EID Noctarcana Circus Luna with small breasts. (Just so you know what I'm dealing with at home.)

I have a few tips on sewing for her body.

I found it pretty easy to size patterns up or down for her so that I can use any pattern (human or doll) that I come across. Minor adjustments are sometimes needed but it's worked out fairly well so far. Generally I just have the pattern up on the computer screen, get the size to match her when I hold her up to it and then I carefully trace the pattern from there ^^.

Also, for her bum. She is a rather full woman and I had a ton of trouble getting her bum into the first dress I made her. So here's a few tips regarding clothes that can be fitted at the waist, but will be able to go over her bum.

Firstly, if you're inserting a zipper, make the zipper end a bit under her bum. This makes it easier when you're having her step into dresses (which I prefer since I'm paranoid about her face-up.)

A good way to make something fit really simply is to use a lace up style back. This will make sure it's nice and fitted across the bust area as well as her bum.

If I end up finding a good dress pattern or something for her, I'll remember to share it here ^^.

    5. I've got a sleeveless blouse and tight pants pattern I could share. Both have been draped on the doll and tested with multiple pieces. I'll try to scan them in tonight. I can use this as an excuse to show off some of my pieces.

    6. Here's the pattern for EID Womans pants. They are tight fit with 1/4 or so seam allowances. I give alot of extra room on top and a little extra room on bottom for different seam options. If you've got a stretch fabric you can probably take a 1cm from both sides almost all the way up to give a really tight fit.

      Front Top
      Front Bottom
      Back Top
      Back Bottom

I try to link some pics of example clothes using these as a basis soon.

    7. pamsd wow great idea will be subscribing to this ( and hopefully adding my own patterns at a later date)
deltafoxtrotzulu thanks! Will try this out tomorrow and let you know how i go.

    8. DFTZ - thank you so much!!

What little I have sewn for her so far has been without a pattern - so reproduction is unlikely. But I am looking at doing some pattern enlargements and reductions so will hopefully have something to share before too long.

    9. Here's the pattern for EID Womans shirt. It's a bit more Rough, but it's worked well for a couple tops now. No sleeves included. They are pretty close fit on Medium Breast with 1/4 or so seam allowances. I give alot of extra room on bottom so you can decide how long you want it to be.

      Shirt Front
      Shirt Back

Don't have pattern for sleeves but Sleeve should be about 8.75" long and 5.5" wide at shoulder and 4.5" wide at wrist. Flat at wrist and rounded at shoulder.

I try to link some pics of example clothes using these as a basis soon as well.

    10. Does anyone pics of these patterns completed ? I dont have my girl yet.

    11. Sorry it took me so long. Been a busy couple weeks. I posted a thread of my EID girl in some of the outfits I've sewn for her using these patterns.

The gray pants are a stretch jersey-like fabric so I took 1cm off the leg seams all the way up to get them to be super tight fit. I suggest doing this after sewing the seams up as is so you don't make them too tight. I even had to take up the crotch seam some to get them to be as tight of fit as I could.

The jean shorts are from the pants pattern, I just cut really short legs and used flat-fell seams on the sides.(Haven't figured out a way to do flat fell seams on inside and outside of legs with the size of doll pants). I didn't want to do a complicated zipper and normal button so I came up with a little button fly using buttons and elastic. The butt seam is flat fell but the front is a normal seam(should have tried to flat fell it).

The V-neck black top and the cheerleader vest are both based on the shirt pattern. The V-neck has an underarm seam using three snaps to give the front and back a smooth appearence.

The cheerleader top has a back velcro closure. I used the front piece as is and cut the back piece in half with an extra 1-2cm to let me hem the two back pieces in the middle.

The cheerleader skirt is 33inx7in or a white stretch fabric(same fabric as top). I hemmed then pleated it all the way around and them found a way to hem and seam the top to keep the pleats flat. It's a bit longer than I originally intended, but I like it. Might make it again about an 1-1.5in shorter.

The halter top is a quick muslin of the pattern piece I'm working on. I worked it up in an hour or so before taking the pictures. If I perfect the pattern for proper hems and such I'll release it.

Last but not least, the spanky panties to go with the cheerleader outfit were also a quick thing I made when I made the outfit. I might try to come up with a pattern for them if there is any interest. I kinda have to redo them to fix the fact they are a little too wide in the middle.

Hope you like them. Enjoy the patterns.

    12. Thanks for the help.

    13. EID Woman - Bra pattern - Medium Breast
      [IMG][IMG]

The Cup is one piece and has 3 darts in it as indicated by the notches. The Cup has no seam allowance. I advise leaving 1/4" all the way around. For Large breast a slight scaling (10%?) of this piece and maybe small adjustment to the darts should work. When fit right, the top of the cup sits just a little above the nipples.

The back strap has 1/8" seam allowance. Depending on how you make the back piece snap, you may need a little more length.

Sew all darts and hems into cup before sewing cup to strap. The cup is one layered. The strap is two layered(sew layers inside out except for cup part of strap and then flip, iron and sew cups to strap) ~1/2 of the upper/outer part of the cup will be above the strap and then needs to be hemmed. This part is where the strap attaches.

The strap is roughly 6". I pulled these as tight as possible (as can be seen by the overlap of the strap over the shoulder) to make it fit well and no risk of sliding down.

This material is a cotton so there is no stretch necessary.

I am indebted to this thread for getting me started, but I ended draping both pieces right on the doll so this pattern is my own.

    14. You're amazing!
Since there isn't anything like this for the YID dolls, you have inspired me to make a thread for that. I am going to do that when my girl gets here and I can drape some stuff on her. I don't know if people would be that willing to sew, but who knows if we can get them all inspired :)

      Thanks!

    15. I'll be drafting some patterns myself for an Ashanti when she actually arrives; I'm probably going to start with the boring separates, a shirt-dress, tights, business-type clothing, and then branch into things like adapting my man's greatcoat pattern for her. Folks who have ordered around the time I did have received shipping notices, so I hope it'll be soon.

      - Mel

    16. I'm actually half way through drafting a short jacket and a coat, but would rather fit them ON the doll when she gets here, so I've stopped that for now. From YID to EID it should take minimal tweaking.

    17. Oh this is perfect! I want to make my E.I.D. Carina some clothes. I don't have her ordered up yet, but with a little saving and a basic/custom doll order form, anything is possible!...Now I just need to learn how to sew...

    18. Any new updates with these patterns?

    19. Bumping this for a little full girl love!!!!

    20. UMMMM question. I am going to be taking the pattern slopper class on here and need a few measurments for this big girl. Would someone be willing to help? Bust, Waist, Abdomen and hip?

      TIA

    21. Great idea. I'm in the pattern class, too, but my Carina won't arrive till mid to end December, so I can't measure yet. :(

    22. I haven't even ordered mine yet. I am saving for her. But she is just beautiful. I have a character all ready for her.

    23. I wish I was into characters. That would so help focus me on how they should look when they get here.
For me it's more trial and error till something POPS and then I know :D In the meantime I keep making stuff, trying it on, and going... naaaah, not quite.... lol A bit frustrating. But we'll see how I manage when 2 out of the 5 incoming I have no clue who they are :D eek!

    24. Any updates on patterns? I would love a simple wedding/evening gown like pattern.

    25. Sorry been away for a while. I don't have any more patterns right now but I did make a new dress for my EID Yur. Here's the gallery thread.

I made this using the shirt pattern I've already posted as the basis for the jacket. The skirt is a 3/4 circle skirt that I made to go with it. It's a bit too full. I should have cut it down even more to 2/3 or even 1/2. It's about 16" long.

    26. I am thinking the same thing. I'd like to make a wedding gown. Only thing I can think of is a corset pattern attached to a full skirt, or using that same corset pattern and "extend" it sort of, to make a more fitted dress.
Love the idea of making the shirt fitted and adding the full skirt. Great job DeltaFoxtrotZulu :D

    27. Do you guys know of any place that I can get EID lady sized gloves or a pattern so that I can make them myself? And I mean more like dress up gloves that go up the arm or the kind that stop at the wrist with a bow or something swanky like that.

    28. I've been thinking on making some gloves. Mitten type aren't very hard. It's individual fingers that's tough. Need thin stretch fabric. Will need to be mostly hand sewn. I need some. I'll try to look into this.

There was a good tutorial on gloves on here a while back. Leather SD sized ones.

Looking at her hands, most of the fingers are fused so they will have to start as mitten type and there might be a little that can be done to make them look like the other type.

No luck on gloves yet. I don't have any of the right kind of material right now.

One the plus side, I worked a bit on an improved Trench Coat pattern and this new one came out much better so far. I need to put some more time into it, but its looking very promising so far. I will share this one when its done this weekend.

    29. To make faux gloves for a doll with fused hands, why not make a mitten but before you close the seams on the sides, hand-stich 'fingers' onto each side- just run it up to the end and then reverse to make it a bit thicker. I have a pair of gloves for an OT doll from the 1950s that are done like that.

    30. I am still struggling with the bra pattern...smh

    31. Oh gawd. I'm done struggling with the bra pattern, unless I make it out of seamless ribbon, fleece or felt. Gah.

    32. I made a tutorial for my bra pattern. I put it here on picasa. Read the image captions to get the instructions for each step. Let me know if there are any questions on it.

      [IMG][IMG]

    33. Nice! Yours turned out a lot better than mine did, but that gives me hope to try again in the future :D Thanks for posting it :D

    34. This is AWESOME!!! I appreciate this. My medium bust Jessica will be coming home soon and I've been feeling raunchy about finding things that will fit. I don't imagine I'd have thought to trace right from the monitor! :sweat but that's really cool.

    35. Oh I must have missed that post, or forgot about it. One of the 2 :D I don't have a pattern either. I drape on my large bust Carina and then work on the outside of the fabric till it fits how I want it to, then I figure out where the zipper will go. I have yet to do a tied style but that's a great idea. I've done that for regular SD a few times to give some leeway :D

I second the bum thing. the back split of skirts has to go under the thickest part of the bum, otherwise it can't slide up.
I might make my next girl a medium bust (maybe a Yur, maybe a Jessica, or maybe ?) just for some variety around here :D hehehe

I am wondering if the "easy dress" could be altered to fit EID. I might work on that today. Other than that, I have an SD pattern I might be able to alter, but can't share it cause it's not mine and the person that made it has it for sale. Let me see what I can come up with.

    36. bumping........

    37. bumping........

    38. What are you bumping for in particular, RROSS?

Incidentally, I still have my crappy pencil skirt pattern that I need to scan and post, if anyone needs it.

    39. Fork it over lol! I'm not looking for any particular pattern but could use anything and everything to fit these broads.

    40. I started a sheath dress pattern two weeks ago...
It took a whole day to get the fit right and seams and darts in all the right places.

      finally....

SHE has an extremely difficult bust to fit.
The seams appear simple enough but the shape is so dramatic the placement was brutal for a sheath.

This is after cutting it off on the seam lines.

And then after 2 hours drafting.
This explains why I don't sell patterns very often...they take sooooooooo long.

and now for a bonus...a preliminary shot of the first project to test the pattern and it's versatility...
considering it was a first try...I uh...got carried away and made something extravagant.
      I got lucky...it worked.
I'll have more photos of it tomorrow.

    41. WOW. Fits like a glove!
And the test piece is beautiful!!!

    42. Very interesting thread. I have a SID girl, but they are not that far away from the EID ladies.

And I found out that they can also be a bit tricky to outfit.

    43. PamSD: Your sheath dress is really nice.

    44. I sewed this corset for the Victorian garment of the year 1890.
You can download my pattern. Hope you'll like it.

    45. I think the corset looks nice. Thanks for the pattern.

    46. chrystal, welcome!

I'm really interesting to hear something about my pattern.

    47. SiliEl: Haven't made the corset yet, but will get around to it.

    48. I made the corset to see how it comes out.

    49. It wont let me download it.

    50. You have to click on the link and follow the instructions in order to be able to download the corset pattern.

It does download. You mustn't be impatient.

Hi! Is that pencil skirt pattern still available? I would love it please.

    51. Sorry to butt in, but is there a similar thread for SID women? The search didn't yield anything ...

    52. Something must be blocking it from downloading. I've tried it twice.

    53. RRoss: Did you get to the part where you have to put the codes in?

    54. Yep i put them in and then I clicked download and it tried to install a program.

    55. You have to wait 60 seconds. I tried to download it and it worked for me.

The pattern will download. Did you come right with it?

RROSS: if you pm me your email address I will email you the pdf copy of the corset I downloaded. Haven't tried to email it yet, but it may work.

    56. chrystal, the corset looks great! And how does it fit on the figure? :)

And thanks for helping others with pattern!

    57. It fits very nicely.

    58. I have the same problem. I have tried it more than 2 times. Can you email me the pattern too?

    59. It says "Please wait. There is a file search." After a few seconds, it comes back with file not found.
