This is brilliant! I think it's a bit pointless to have SIDs and EIDs (the guys of which can't even swap heads!) in the same thread and nYIDs which are 100% compatible with SIDs switch-wise in a separate one, anyway ... so yay! Thank you for your trouble, Ashbet!

Well, I have no nYIDs and only one SID, but I still think this thread is a wonderful idea. I hope to one day add nYID Oscar to my collection, though a large size girl will probably come first... if only I could decide on a sculpt!

I am looking for recommendations what an nYID boy might be able to wear? I found a few suggestions but I hope there's more?

 

I agree! This thread will come in handy. For now I only have two JIDs, but am hoping to get an SID at some point this year. Many of you have already seen my Patrick. He is Real Skin, wears a Monique Ginger wig, and eyeco soft eyes. He is wearing Dollmore shirts and leather like jacket. I don't think that the Dollmore pants will fit him though as he has a big IH butt!!

 

Would SD 13 stuff fit him? I was just on Sunny's world on Ebay and they had a lot of nice clothes for that size.

Great idea............I have a nYID Erica on an SID body. And you're right, with CDS, there are so many combo's available now, that it's nice to have a place to share all the larger dolls.

This dumb thread makes me want to spend my money on my nYID's way to early ><... (early for monetary reasons lol) ... MY planned nYID girls will be paired with EID's and SID's eventually. I have been thinking about Eric since he came out, and decided that he will be next once my Grace is home.
But I have been leaning more and more towards the nYID body for him, simply because it's less musclelly ;P
I'm not sure if the head will look big on that body though, so I'm asking if someone could take some pics if the have a nYID Eric.
And if you could snap a shot with him beside a SID woman for height comparison, that would be awesome

Sorry to be a bother, but I've got another request... could somebody show me a Peach Gold Skin doll next to one in Special Real Skin? I have a hard time deciding what I want... all I know is that the Normal Skin is too pale for what I want to order...

okay now I am 100% sure my "favorite" resin is RS... but dang I had thought PG was too pink/peach. I was afraid the difference would be too much now I'm not so sure ><.... (I was eyeing a doll on MP but unsure due to the PG... this is not good for my wallet lol). The only thing is I'd have to have the makeup tone down the 'orange' of the lips (I like extreme subtle)... and wow love the twin Felix's ^^

Wow, two gorgeous Felix guys! I've got a thing for blond boys with green eyes--yum!

That said, I have found that both Real Skin and Peach Gold photograph lighter than they are in real life. The browner Real Skin looks more natural to me, but I had to sell both of my Peach Gold dolls. The color was way too pink--I couldn't stand it. In photos, though, it looks fabulous.

 

Urgh, never mind, I can't seem to get photos to load on the mobile app without being horribly blurry or gigantic.

I agree both the colours are much more beautiful in photos. Although I love the PG in real life too it is by far my favourite resin colour, I'm not too fussed about the RS in real life, but it does compliment the PG wonderfully.

Edits: because apparently I can't compose myself today :P

 

Aaaaa Felix is one of my favourite SID dudes ever. 2x is like, perfection.


I have a huge request. I have totally fallen for Chris... on an EID woman body (long story, but this is the lady I needed to shell. As you can see, that bone structure don't get found on girl dolls very often). And when Iplehouse did their head-swapping reviews and opened up size recombination in the CDS, the nYID boys didn't exist. I was going to request that nYID boys get added to the EID/SID/nYID/male SID CDS, but could I ask for some photos of an nYID boy head on an EID woman body? From the numbers, it seems like it should be a pretty good match, but you don't know until you see it...

 

Peach Gold has become my favorite resin tone...though I also love Real Skin.

I think they photograph lighter especially outside....in daylight...but it also depends on the background...here I have a very dark background so they might look a tad lighter.

Wow, you really changed my mind, I was going to order Chris in PG, but now I think I will have to go with Real Skin.

I'm favoriting the PG too, for now. I love RS but I had one from one of the first batches that turned a little green and even though they've fixed that, I'm still a little cautious and appreciate the stability of PG. It seems to get a little lighter over time but since I can only take something resembling a decent pic outside, the PG UV protection is an advantage for me. Love all the pics!!!!!

I am actually torn between Felix and Theo. I know that Theo's current sculpt is going to be discontinued at the end of the month, in actually a couple days. So I have to hurry and make my decision. I already have nYID Patrick in Real Skin and was thinking of getting my SID guy in Peach Gold. Seeing your Felix I think I will.

I know that he is because I got him from someone reputable here on the DoA. Is there a way to identify him as genuine?

I have a question for all. I am getting ready to sell my oYID Louis. I don't have any identifying paperwork for him, or his original box. And nothing on his body which identifies him as a genuine IH. Does he have the seal on the back of his head? That would work as verification.

 

As bajib said, he should have a large seal on the back of his head. Huge, actually.... it looks like this:

 

He has that indent for the seal. But the seal is gone.

Thank you for the pic. I figured there should be a seal there, there is an indentation. No seal. I have never seen the seal. It was gone when he came here. Now what? Any other way to identify him as legit?

 

The seals do tend to fall out or stick to wigs but I was hoping for an easy solution. Some IP have things written inside their joints for assembly guides. Like my nYID Bianca has on her knee peanuts. Have you tried pulling the joints apart a little and looking inside to see if there is anything written there?

 

bajib. I am so upset that I can't identify him as legit even though I honestly know that he is. I had thought about looking to see if there are any IH markings inside his joints or torso. I am even thinking of writing IH for any other identifying marks. UGH!! With all the hub bub about re-casts? I don't won't to get tangled up in that mess. I was hoping to list him tomorrow. I knew I would be selling him at a very reasonable price simply because his white resin has yellowed. And plus the fact that I am unable to identify him as legit? Might as well give him away. How disappointing.

Oh, I forgot that Louis was older! But you are ok--if he has the indent and the pointy shoulder blades he's real--copying wasn't such an issue back then. You can also hopscotch down people's feedback to find the original owner, and just make a list. I don't think people worry about the original yid's as much.

 

I'm sure you'll be fine, too morelle! Recasts have a competely different look to them - they are thinner resin with awful sometimes double seam lines and webbing between fingers and toes and the indent for the seal has mushy edges instead of crisp, plus what fishcake said.

 

Fishcake. Thank you for the link. Yes, Louis is an oYID. He does have the indented circle in the back of his head and those God awful pointed shoulder blades. I always hated that about my Louis' body. His body is the reason why I am re-homing him. I really would love to get an SID. hopscotching down feedback is a good idea too. I still have the DoA email from the person I purchased from. Will try that.

Fishcake. This link is your site? Do the oYID's name numbers on the inside of their limbs or torso?

Also. I saw the photo there of the new hip construction with all the grooves. My nYID Patrick seems to be a little loose. Is this construction working properly I wonder?

bajib. There is really no way that he would be a recast. I even purchased nYID hands for him. and they fit perfectly, even though the resin shade is off. He has all the characteristics of the older IH dolls. He is well made, sturdy.

I had a soo-ri but mgawd that was like in ..09.. so I forget!

 

Actually, my Harin is the old style YID but she is only about two years old. I bought her when Iple announced that they were discontinuing the line. Even so, I looked inside her head and there is nothing printed/engraved there. I didn't see anything on her knee peanuts, either. That big round seal would have been your best bet for identification, but like someone said, they tended to fall off and it could have been lost.

Also, there would not have been a box. The YIDs came in a black carrying bag, with white pillows, packed inside a shipping carton. No pretty color boxes like Iple sends out nowadays. There was probably a certificate originally (I have one), but if you are the 2nd or 3rd owner, the certificate might not have followed the doll. Just mention in your listing what the doll does and doesn't have, and let the buyer decide if he/she wants to buy it.

Are you sure you want to part with Louis? He's awfully cute!

I wouldn't stress about this if I were you. Like fishcake said, recasting is a relatively new phenomenon. If your doll is from 2009, I don't think it's a problem.

Yeah. I already checked inside my oYID louis' head, and nothing. Briefly checked his lower torso, and nothing. I'm thinking he is from 2009 or even 2008 since the end of the line was dated Feb. 09. That's interesting that the early ones came in a carrying bag inside a shipping carton. I must be the 4th owner of Louis, or possibly even the 5th. My Louis is extremely pretty with his natural face up by Sally Chandler. But, I am ready to re-home him as he has that baby face appearance that no longer works in my "boys club" collection of SD's. I'm actually thinking of getting SID Theo. And I know that I have to act quickly as his current sculpt will be discontinued at the end of this month, in like a couple days.

Your Tanis is gorgeous!! Is that Peach Gold resin? I want to get Theo in Peach Gold.

 

Take a vote!! Help me decide which one. Eric is on the left. My Patrick is in the center. And Theo is on the right. Do you think that Eric looks to much like my Patrick? Patrick is real skin. I will be getting either Eric or Theo in Peach gold. Help me to decide.

 

I think Theo looks better with your Patrick, though I can't explain why.

Thank you. I think Theo looks better along side Patrick too. I think that the shape of Eric's mouth looks to similar to Patrick's mouth.

 

Get Theo before he gets redesigned

 

Theo, offers more of a difference of expression. Always better with more variety ^^.
My personal example is Dexter and Roger are too similar in expression so Arvid comes before Roger as a companion choice...

 

Theo and Patrick would look great together! Agreed about Eric's and Patrick's mouths, they look like they could be related ... their eyes look a bit similar in the pictures too, but that might just be those photos.

You have to be careful, I bought a doll from a very respected person on here. It came with all the papers, but I can now tell from the skin colour and the finishing of it that it was not original.
Also comparing it to my other iple's it was a giveaway. (as my collection grew)

Unfortunately it was not purchased through DOA and I was very naive to think this sort of thing does not happen in this hobby. In fact at the time I did not know they existed!

 

Christie. Yes I know. It's the nasty recast issue. I do not buy re-cast. I myself would rather have the real deal in my collection. But I know collectors who do, unfortunate I know but I guess they can't afford the real deal. Anyway, I have gone through the feedback on my oYID Louis who I have had for about 18 months now and have a trail all the way back to Feb. 09. My Louis is the real deal. Although his body is awesome, sturdy, with great definition, it's old and has some ware. He really needs someone who will clean him up a bit. Anyway he is in the MP. Wish me luck PLEASE because I have taken fishcakes suggestion and ordered SID Theo before IH discontinued him.
