I am so happy with her! I can't stop picking her up. The cute little pyjamas she comes with are super soft. She has such a sweet face. I am going to have so much fun taking pictures of her!

Doll tax! I took my girls to the London Fashion Doll Fair at the weekend and the theme was 80s. I bought Maddie a cheap wig off AliExpress to help achieve the big hair look, and I actually really like how it looks on her.

Magdalena is in dire need of some tightening. Is it wise to pick up all new elastic and restring or can I get away with reusing the original elastic?

@CelestialSnow, Magdalena is such a sweetie! If you're going to go to the trouble of restringing her, it'll be worth your while to change out the elastic. The elastic just naturally degrades over time, so new elastic will make your restringing efforts more worthwhile. If you restring her with old elastic, you'll have to redo it shortly anyway.

As a treat to myself for my 30th birthday in September, I decided to do a FCS order from Tenshi no Sato! I'm doing SD f 122 with ennui makeup and fuller lips and freckles! My proxy thinks late September, early October for her to get to me

I just ordered the last SD Ena on the Volks USA website. She's a perfect younger mix between Lieselotte and Charlotte. I'm amazed with how cheap shipping was and how FAST Volks shipped - I ordered last night and they already mailed her out I'll show her off here when she arrives!!

Happy soon to be birthday (welcome to the 30’s club!) and congratulations on the FCS order! Is it your first order?

I just had a birthday myself and to celebrate my future engagement in September my partner is financing my first FCS order. A suntan F-01 with a girly face up with freckles. My order was placed at the end of July. Our orders should ship within a few weeks of each other! Please post your doll when it arrives!

I took Misako to Anime NYC, it was my first time taking a BJD to a convention! We wore lolita together! I need to get a proper carrying case or bag, she got pretty heavy ^^;

Is anyone participating in the After Event Lottery for the Hometown Osaka Dolpa 10? Good luck if anyone is! So many lovely models available this time. I'm personally very interested in the Dear SD 10th Anniversary Event that ends tomorrow. I'm obsessed with the sleeping Dear SD Nana and if given the chance would love to hybrid her to be an SD! Here's to hoping that event might come to the USA site too.

Thank you. This has been a very happy year for me. I do have other dolls, but this is the one I've bonded with the most. I don't see her as my "child," more like a type of friend that I've always wanted to have but never really had the chance to have in real life.

I got a girly lacefront wig for Zhara (SD-F-26).

 

I am in the wonderful position of being able to finally bring a Regulus home - but as yet it's just his head. It's not going to be a problem for some time (thanks to layaway!), but what are the hybriding options for Volks' bronze skin? I'm guessing the Volks bronze bodies don't come up that often..?

 

Question - what is the shoulder width measurement for SD17 boy? I'm trying to figure out a hybrid, and it's the one dimension (and a fairly important one!) that's not on the SD17 wiki page. Thanks in advance.

 

Someone else may have a more accurate one, I had to wrestle with my boy's shirt hah. But id say about 17 cm from the outermost part of the upper arm to the other, or 14 cm from socket to socket (so just the torso part), if that helps. That was across his back, not sure if the front is better if it's a head scale question!

 

@aihre I got 15cm shoulder width including arms, 11cm without arms, from the front of the doll.

 

@Ayaka @castironteapot Wonderful, thank you both! I suspect SD17 has shoulder width closer to 15cm, since my 65cm and 68cm boys all have around that shoulder width. I will add this to the wiki too

 

It looks like the FCS prices went up on the 19th.

 

I got the 2 way blouse dress from the Dolpa Osaka 10 collection for my SD13 girl and I'm disappointed. The material feels like cheap plastic, and the lace is not very nice. I suppose it's just a doll so it doesn't matter how cheap her clothes feel, but it's my first item from Volks that's felt so carelessly made. Oh well.

I'm glad to see FCS returning next month. I wonder if the lineup will be the same as last time. I understand the jewels are hard to get, so I assume they will be the options again, but it's fun to see some of the "numbered" FCS heads in combination with the SD16 body.

 

Yeah, the basic blouses... aren't great... Sock fabric and lace is also kinda eh. Wasn't too thrilled with what that $80 nun set looked like either--up close, the entire thing looked like a cheap polyester Spirit Halloween costume for a doll. It could be that they put more of the budget towards the featured jumpers and dresses instead. Like you can run a finger down the Etoile or the Medic or the Touhou Gear set brocades and laces and it's got crazy nice texture to it, so it's mind-boggling that the nun set costs the same as those without the quality.

But it could be worse. Look at what they put out for Dollfie Dreams--the choice and quality of fabric is like night and day compared to the SD lines (I wonder if it's on purpose, different customer bases and all).

I do wish they would put out more ecrue cream-colored skirts and stuff in the SD fashion line though. A lot of crisp bright white lately aside from the lemon dress.

@Lyrajean thank you so much! I painted her a few times before this and really she can look so different and that I love about this mold. She is a very unique Volks face mold as to why I chose her! ❤️

 

The DD stuff used to be nicer, but it just about all feels like it's one step away from cheap Barbie clothes now. For the same price, of course. And what they've done to the Miku sets (the single piece of printed panel is NOT my thing) is disappointing.


Does anyone know of an updated list that shows what FCS sculpts are available or discontinued? There's one sculpt in particular that came on the second hand market I really, really want. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to buy or if I should just wait. Assuming it's not discontinued.

 

The latest Volks News lists SDM-F-20, SDM-F-42, SDM-F-53, SD-F-54 and SD-F-56 as being discontinued at Sumika locations at the end of this October. I can check the past few issues too if you'd like?

Awe thank you, I was actually surprised she turned out so cute. Her look changes pretty dramatic with different wig colors. This one made her stand out the most, my favorite. ❤️
