Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXVI

Hello! I apologize if this has been answered before but I am new to buying anything from Volks and there were some measurements for their dolls that I could not find in our Wiki here (and I am not sure how to navigate Volks' site to find the information there) so I am hoping you all might be able to help me. What is the hip and shoulder circumferences for the SD17 male body? Also, what is the shoulder and neck circumferences for the SDGr male body? Thank you for your help!

@Yurikun - My Girl is still in WIP mode, but I prefer 18mm instead of 16mm. That is just my opinion of course.

 

Hi guys! It’s time for me to ask for some helps. So I realized new FCS in VOLKS USA has released F57 as the option, and I’m starting to grown into that handsome face more I look at him. Anyone had a F57 in house could maybe show me how he looks like outside the official picture? Or if you know any doll owner post their f57 on social media would help too. Thanks!

 

Go onto Instagram and search "sd_f_57" and there should be photos of customized F57 heads, mainly by the official Volks account.

I just measured my SD17 and his shoulder measurement is around 14" and his hip measurement is around 11 1/4"

 

Are those measurements all the way around his shoulders and hips or just across the front? Thank you for measuring your doll to answer my questions!

 

Is FCS from Volks USA just for Americans?

How can I take part in a FCS if I live in Eu?

 

Volks USA is only available in North America, as per their FAQ. I imagine you would have to ask someone who lives in the US to place the order for you, and then get them to ship to you once the doll arrives to them.

 

Just wanted to share some good news on my end. I won an auction on Y!J for an F72 head, and she's currently being shipped to me I'm going to be wiping off her faceup and giving her my own, something I haven't done in a long time and I miss it! I think she would go well with my Suigintou too!

I know that Volks sometimes applies two sets of lashes, so they look thick at the base and then long and tapered from the side profiles, would anyone be able to identify which sets of lashes they used for the long tapered layer? Perhaps someone who owns one of the dolls with double eyelashes applied. Many thanks

i'm thinking of ordering a f-48 boy in sunlight during this FCS period, as he is a grail i've been dreaming of for quite a while.
however, i prefer 2-part torsos, but the 2-part one comes with muscular arms which i do not like. i've heard rumours that you can sand volks sunlight resin with no discolouration, is this still true? does anyone have any pictures they could show of it?

this'd be my first full volks doll... i have a kun head that shares a body with another doll, and a doll-love head on a SD10 body (DL normal yellow is an excellent resin match, btw, the only problem was having to sand the neck to fit the head hole. :P ) so i'm kind of nervous.... i've almost taken the plunge once before but the arms were really putting me off.... ;;

Hi! I’m wondering does anyone know the difference between the original version of Tsunenaga Hasekura and Tsunenaga Hasekura II? Is it just his original mold was remade because of multiple usage through time or is he re-sculpted? ;u;

I don't think the 2nd version refers to a re-sculpted head but his release. In the first version, he is in his military attire and in the 2nd version, his kimono. The outfit and make up have changed but not the head sculpt itself. Or that is the way I understand it. I don't think he's been really cast enough times to make a new head mold? Unless the original one was damaged or unusable. But the only way to know for certain is to look at the number inside both version 1 and 2 to see if they are the same. I don't have him so I can't tell you. Maybe someone here is willing to post the numbers inside the head?

Yes. You can sand sunlight resin. In fact, Volks offers a satogaeri service to sand the seams off any doll, in any resin colour. If you are interested in having some clean seams, you may consider adding it on to your FCS. But yes, you can do it yourself if you want to save a bit of cash.

 

@reitsuki While the faceups and fullsets differ between the two releases, the mold/sculpt should be the same for both of Hasekura's releases. Volks does indicate when a mold has been renewed or resculpted and no such notice was given for this release.

 

@xiluoxia if you're still looking for f57's, here's mine! Sorry he's not dressed or set up anywhere nice, he's being measured for an outfit today. I tried to filter out some of the stuff in the background at least. Anyway, hope it helps! I love this sculpt, I picked him out last October during another VolksUSA FCS. Let me know if you'd like to see other angles, I'd be happy to shoot them to you.

He is suuuuuuuper cute!! i actually already placed my F57 order, and cant wait october to com! but also im planning to change his body to sd17 later. Idk if its gonna work well or not yet but hopefully this will be a good decision!

i'm not particularly concerned about seams, they've never much bothered me unless they're super obvious or on the hands..! ^^
i was actually thinking of sanding the muscles off the lower arms to suit my aesthetic preferences better.
i would worry about making the arms too skinny with my sanding though, although i might end up liking the muscle version.... who knows...!
now i just have to figure out if the faceup would be worth the price or not..... u_u

Speaking of sunlight, after having her for a few months, my Pearl is finally complete. She's my first tan doll and I'm in love with the resin color. I wish Volks would release more dolls in sunlight or ebony.

My Mia head arrived recently, so I put her on my F-73's body and took some quick shots. I really need to arrange a proper photo spot somewhere in my house... The outfit will be hers, but she will be getting a different wig and eyes (and a body of her own of course). I love her shy little face, I do think I'm going to want to change her faceup at some point though.

the sunlight color is so beautiful, it’s my favorite tan resin that i’ve ever experienced! i did just notice that on the fcs site, as well as the tan option parts on the volks usa store, the color that they use as the sample doesn’t look anything like the sunlight resin that we love so much! did they change the formula when they changed the name from sunlight to tan? or is it just poor sample selection? i hope they didn’t change it because the original color is so nice.

Quick question though I think I know the answer. Other then the holding hands, the gun/sword holding hands and the default hands there aren't any other option hands available for SD17, right?

Correct. Though the hands made by SQLabs are intended to fit SD17 guys and the resin is a pretty close match.

@c4tbus They confirmed when they did the name change that the formulas were not changing (see here). I find that a lot of Volks' studio pictures make it look a little darker than it actually is, and that the difference is far more subtle in non-studio lighting and in person.

i'm now trying to find an outfit and faceup artist for him.... i think something similar to the original volks aesthetic would be nice, but i need something a bit more specific, so i didn't order the faceup directly from them. x__X;;
i also like the dark owl sets for clothes, but the one i like best is out of stock.... does volks ever restock their outfits?

Can any other of you guys help me identify my boy on the right? I bought him (on his SD old ns body) at Mandarake in Akihabara last year and thought he was a School A, but if no School As is have had plates then what is he?

57 looks great with SD17 body. Mine is on SD17.

 

I saw this guy up online from a JP store (and I want to buy him), but I'm trying to figure out what is this headplate? All they say is it was "limited in the magazine." I do not know what that means. If anyone has a clue, please, I would love to hear it. Even though this store basically only deals in dolls I just get wary when I see things I haven't seen before.

 

@Gunter von Christ, my 2nd ed. Shiro Tachibana has the same head plate. He was offered as a special to those who purchased Volks' big SD compilation book in 2006.

SD PHOTO AYS 06 -- it does make sense once you know the code, doesn't it? If I ever got a personalized license plate, I think I would want Volks to come up with the lettering for it.

Hi. I was just wondering if anyone ordered from the online FCS and what doll/ sculpt they got. I got an SD13 F73 in white skin.

 

You know, I'd had info that the photobook dolls had "SD PHOTO DAYS" on their plates, which never made much sense to me - "SD PHOTO AYS" actually makes more sense - it's the PHOTObook Another YourSelf. Seems so obvious once you understand!

 

WOW now im really excited, even tho i need to wait till october to finally see my F57

 

Just curious, has anyone gotten any results concerning the Dolpa 41 collection from VolksUSA?

FYI :: Dolpa 42 is December 14, 2019 (Sat) and Dolpa 43 is April 26, 2020 (Sun). Both are at Tokyo Big Sight. I got the info off of the back of the Nagoya Dolpa guidebook. No mention of the March Dolpa in Kyoto in 2020.
