I voted for Maacha, Junichi Nakahara Lorina with the ponytail, and Lady Oscar. I already got my Lady Oscar but I'd love to see the other two rereleased for sure!

 

Liese/Luna 2019 and Mia got my votes. I'm bummed at the lack of Miruku/Kurumi. Definitely a little surprised to see Mana-sama included in the voting.

I’d love to see a Mia but with a different face up and styling.

 

I don't really want one myself, but I tossed my votes in for Mana and the JN Lorenas since I know a lot of you guys want them.

 

I used the opportunity to beg for another Diamond release and Yume. Very upset I had to sell my Yume, but she had bad memories and energy from a past someone, so I'd really love to have her back and fresh/my own without paying 4k on YJA lol.

Super bummed we didn't get an SD16 FCS last year and am worried they're going to stop doing it. Still kicking myself for not getting Diamond last time.

 

I can't believe it, Mana-sama is on the ballot, I reeeeeaaaally hope Mana-sama get picked!!!

 

Wow, I am surprised to see Mana too. (Raise your hand if he's a reason you got interested in BJDs lol...)
But I voted Lady Oscar, Diamond (give me the mature sculpts~) and Marie Antoinette!
It was hard not to vote for one of the Lorinas, but I feel confident she'll get a re-release at some point anyway

 

this is AMAZING!! Thank-you SO SO much for taking time out of your day to do this for me. I'll be saving these images to help me ID bodies. Also I had no idea the new standard dolls came in one-piece bodies. I would have been very disappointed if I ordered one just for the body and expected a new two or three piece torso. I also had no idea about GrG bodies being the 3 piece torso or even the height difference. Or about the new SD13 girls having double jointed arms. This information is just so helpful, thank-you. It's disappointing the new GrG bodies have heels and no joint. Long ago, I liked heel legs, but now I find them more annoying to own and prefer flat jointed legs (my SQ Navi has that).

Thank-you again for these photos and the wealth of information. I doubt I'd be able to learn all this elsewhere or understand it without your helpful photos. I haven't snagged anything yet for the two heads coming my way, but I'll keep an eye out and maybe post some questions here if I have any.

 

As for the voting, I cast my votes! It's so hard to narrow it down, but I had to vote for one of the disney girls as I had no idea a re-release would be possible. I would have thought they'd have to renew their license to do that. Maybe in a contract for a new girl? But there's so many other great girls, Marie, Yumeipi, Macha and I'm forever a fan of Lieselotte. It's tough to vote but I did! I'm relieved they say they're going to post the winners but no guarantee it'll be right after the voting on Feb 18th. I just want to know!

I'm kind of surprised by the Disney girls for the same reason, but who knows what those contracts are like. I'm torn because I sort of want them re-release too, but I also want to see new girls (Jasmine, please!).

If they do re-release, I think it would be cool if there were additional outfit options - like how Ariel came with her mermaid outfit and her land outfit was also available to buy. Something like Anna and Elsa's coronation dresses (though I'd want them with embroidery...). Or if they eventually do Aurora, a pink or blue dress. Or Belle's winter outfit, omg!

 

Yes to new girls too! Jasmine is my favourite of the girls not produced yet so I'm rooting for her. But I was also hoping for Aurora because it's her 65th Anniversary this year, it'd be timely, but then I doubt one is coming at all this year because I thought they were always announced at the winter Dolpa's. I completely agree with bonus dresses for Anna and Elsa. IF they did that, I bet they'd go with Elsa's movie 2 dress, but I'd personally like to see her Frozen Fever dress. For Anna, I'm the opposite and would like to see her cream dress from the 2nd movie. For Aurora, I wonder if they'd do two different dresses or use that fabric that's sort of both like they do with her at the parks or the Disney dolls. I would die for Belle's winter outfit too.

Haha, look at me go. I'm so ready to throw my money for the next Disney release.

 

Just to note, for the SDGr girls, you can buy the "moveable legs" as well (i.e. normal legs with an ankle joint). I think with many (all?) SDGrG releases there's been an option to buy them separately - when you buy the doll, you receive a piece of paper with a special URL for ordering extra hands and the leg parts. These special URLs are usually time-limited and only active for a few months from the doll's release.

The same goes for SD16 girls. When I got Lady Oscar she came with heeled feet by default, but I was able to order pureskin white jointed legs separately through her special URL.

If you got a SDGrG second hand, you're not out of luck - you see these legs parts fairly frequently on second-hand marketplaces like Dollyteria or Mandarake. I hope this helps!

 

Oh, wonderful, thank-you! Although it sounds like they'll be harder to come by if only some people ordered them, they might not want to let them go. I'll still keep an eye out! Thank-you! So far nothing has popped up that I've wanted to jump on, but I'm patient for the right body. I appreciate the information, everyone here has been so helpful in educating me.

I also have another question. I was browsing some of the clothes on Volks' site and it says which bodies they fit. In additon for the two heads that are arrive for whom I'm searching for bodies, the other arrival is a complete girl with what I think will be a SD10 body. Will "SD" clothes fit that body? What about SDGr or SD16? I ask because the item is a dress and not pants. The supplied photos shows the SDGR is taller than the SD10 but maybe it'd still fit?

 

SD clothes will fit the SD10 body. Some outfits will fit multiple sizes, though beware of shoes – if a shoe fits SD17 and SDGrB, it'll look like clown shoes on any SDGrB.
Volks outfits have circles on sizes they will fit and crosses on ones that won't. I'd upload a picture, but Flickr seems to be down...

You'll notice that any body size description on its own means for girls, and "B" is added for boy bodies in the same size

 

Ah perfect, thank-you again! You're always to my rescue, castironteapot! Looks like one I really loved won't fit my SD10, but that's alright. Still plenty of outfits to go after! And oof, good to know about the shoes @_@

 

Just going to add how multiple size items look on an SD10 body – this blouse was listed for SD, SD13 and GrG, but as you can see, while it fits the torso, the sleeves are a bit long (once again, sorry for bad lighting!)

In my case, I have an SDB and a SDGrB as brothers. I've designated my SDB's age as 13 (as well as my other 2 SDB), and his SDGrB brother's age as 18.

With their 15-year old sister (Volks SD13G F-27) --


However, some of my SDGrB are younger (age 15-16), and I'd prefer a an MSDB or MidiB as an 8 to 10 year old younger brother.

Which SDB sculpts have you been considering?

I won Williams! I sold my SD17 Williams (2nd version) last year and wasn’t really interested in the SdGr version until I saw owner pics and loved his face-up with the white skin tone. I also got to see him in person at a Volks showroom in Tokyo in December. Can’t wait to get him!

 

Got my very kind 'you are a loser' email from Volks. Not sure if I'm going to enter the US lottery, I have a few days to decide. But congrats to all the winners and it will be exciting to see these new siblings around here!

 

For any of you that have a Cyndy, do you know what size eyes she usually wears? For SD, usually I default to 18mm, but her eyes look large, so I'm wondering if 20mm might be better? Thanks for any advice!

I really need to get some better photos of all my dolls but especially this guy! This was my first ever Volks fcs that I got brand new and got to choose all the faceup options so he's very special to me.

 

I don't have one, but it seems Volks originally released her with 20mm eyes, so they might be a better fit than 18mm

As I go through my collection and sell the ones I can't keep (life and space changes), I am reminded of how beautiful Volks sculpts are. So many tiny things that make them feel more alive.

Might be of interest... SDGr Williams is now listed on the Volks international online store, available to buy directly. I guess he really didn't sell well! Maybe people are Williams-ed out. I decided to get him and will be replacing an SD13 Williams I have (I like the SDGr boy body and the white resin more).

 

^I think the whole look was the problem not the sculpt. I never want to see that combination again.

Between the strong dollar and the unpopularity of my last two Volks lottery dolls, I couldn't be happier. + He shipped!

Anyone looking at getting Williams in the USA lottery should check out Japan. USA adds the difference in yen to the dollar & tacks it onto the cost. Even with shipping, Japan is waay less expensive.

 

Question about yellowing. Do volks resin doll yellows even if it's in a closet without sunlight? Is it because of the air is till moving when opening and closing the closet that may cause mild yellowing over time?
( I remember if box unopened they generally don't yellow at all...)

Ohhh, I've wanted a Williams that wasn't as big as an SD17 - but I am hanging on in the hopes of finding an old one from the SD13 release, as I have a body in a box in the cupboard under the stairs, and I've held onto it for just that reason!

 

Ugh, I hate when I miss a new thread.

I really really hate that I missed the thread now. I had wanted to put in for Williams in the International lottery, but couldn't scrounge up enough money in time so consigned myself to the USA one, and entered on the very last day. If I had checked this thread I could have saved so much money potentially, since I haven't won the the USA lottery yet. But if he's really not that popular then my chances may be pretty good.

 

@Cloudedmind, for what it's worth, he's still in stock on the Japan/international store 2 days later, which I think is a good sign. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

And from what I saw in comments from Japanese owners on Twitter, the general vibe was that people were more interested in a white skin SD17 release or preferred the proportions of SD17 Williams. So maybe that explains it also.

 

That makes a lot of sense, @idrisfynn! There was also the white SD17 body that came with Ludo, but obviously that's pretty hard to come by. And just from my own window shopping, SD17 Williams comes up pretty often, so anyone who wants him now isn't going to have problems getting him.

Plus, while I like his outfit, it's definitely a lot more younger-boy/man (which makes sense with the timeline) than the more swashbuckling outfits that came with the SD17 version.

 

@idrisfynn Andre and Ludo are the other 2 options for SD17 WS, but good luck with those two too. It really isn't the ideal release unless you need WS to match RG.

I felt really lucky with this release because he was both WS and SDGrB. I dream of winning an RG head in the future for the same character, so I didn't want to settle for an old release in normal. Everything seemed perfect until I found out I couldn't enter for him because I don't own a credit card. I was pretty crushed and didn't want to pay the ~$300 USA tax. I'm thanking Mother SD for accepting my 31 Williams drawings and letting me order him even though I failed to enter the lottery.
