Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXVIII

Ooooh, are you talking of the one with the white dress, from Fukuoka's Mandarake (I think it was Fukuoka?)? I'd been watching that boy for aaaages but since he wasn't on my priority list, I never got him. Just saw that he finally was sold today when I checked my list and I was like "Yessss! Finally going to a new home, poor boy, he's been up for sale for WAY too long!" If it's really you who bought him I'm now twice as glad that the poor fellow's finally going to a good home. You do have to post pics once he arrives!

 

@Khell Yes, that was the one exactly! I had a pair of characters that I impulsively decided I wanted to shell. While I knew which doll I wanted for one, the other I didn't know. I have a Kanata that would have been perfect, but I don't really like identical dolls that aren't twins and he's settled into his current character. So I ended up looking through the Volks head sculpts on Neo Angel Den, and the F-20 was just PERFECT. I had thought it would be SUPER hard to find, but that one came up, and it's even on a good body for the character! It's the right height, and the right muscle tone! I just paid for him, and I can't wait for him to get here!

 

@Audrina Mystique That's so awesome, I'm totally, ridiculously happy you got him! As I said - please, post a TON of pics of your new boy! I've been watching him on Mandarake for so long I've grown just a tiny little attached to him myself and it's so great he's not gonna gather dust on a store shelf any longer!

 

@Audrina Mystique Congratulations on the new doll! I’ve noticed that F-20 long ago, but mainly eyed it for the White Sato FCS Box. I turned away from it since the condition of the doll was listed as “used / Hell Has the smell of cigarettes.” As I’ve gotten older, I can’t stand the smell of smoke anymore.

When you receive the doll, can you update us on its condition and scent? I’ve noticed that some doll items are also listed as “smell of cigarettes” but they’re priced so well! I’m curious to know how much of a scent an item has to have before it’s described as “smell of cigarettes.”

I had a doll from there that was sold as 'smells like cigarettes', but on arrival ,i couldn't smell anything that reminded me of cigarettes. She had a slight funky smell, but definitly not cigarettes (and it disappeared very quickly)

 

Speaking of F20, a few months ago there was a nice WS head for sale on the Marketplace, and I got him, along with a WS Graffiti boy body a month later, from another seller.


He has a Volks face-up, and default eyes still in place His headplate says "F9902", which after comparing with my other Sato proxy FCS from Fall 2008, I think he might have been made around late 2009/early 2010. The style of his face-up makes me that, too.

It's nice to know that there's some renewed interest in him; I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of yours, @Audrina Mystique!

 

I'd love to get both Williams and Cecile, but I'll have to settle for just Williams for now. Either way I'm happy we all have this chance.

I'm taking the much riskier chance of entering the Japanese lottery for the romantic glance Williams with a friend over there. There's no guarantee unlike the SD17 Williams but I have an SD13 an Midi Williams currently and Romantic Glance would be a dream. But if I don't win it saves me money. I wish I could try for both but even not travelling for doll cons I still should save for next year.

 

Can anyone with Oscar tell me if her face up is delicate at all? First time dealing with nose and chin blush as well.

@Arara well, I haven’t wiped mine down to repaint (yet...) but it looks like her face is “warmed up” a fair bit with blushing. The color is subtle, but you'd see relatively white resin if say, a part of the front of her cheek were scratched away. Does that help?

 

I also want William Romantic Glance even though the chance will be almost to zero. He looks very charming. I will be happy enough if any of us here will win him.

 

Is romantic glance only available via Japan site lottery..? He is so gorgeous ;////; ))

 

I'm struggling with a craving for Yugiri...had version 1 back in the day and sold her (mine was a her), because...reasons...(ie I can't remember)...

Anyone care to feed my craving with photo spam, please..? Boy or girl...and I think most had them as a boy..? Or am I mistaken..?

@Alice80 Here's my Yugiri, Theodore! He's been a grail of mine for a long time and I finally brought him home last July. Funny story, I initially didn't even like this sculpt but he grew on me and I kinda became obsessed and started looking for one everywhere. A proxy picked him up from Sato for me when Volks announced they had a few in stock. It was meant to be. I love him to bits!!

Mine has held up well, so far... I'm not rough with my dolls at all, but I don't use white gloves either. So I'd say it's pretty solid under "normal use" conditions.

Awesome. I’m glad to hear that. She’s still in her head guard, but I moved her head towards me using said guard and over the fabric material, and I’ve been a bit paranoid that I’ve damaged her blushing by doing so. I know it sounds dumb, but I really want to take care of her as much as possible.

 

Hello, I just checked the international Volks preorder websites for Cecile and Williams and it says Volks is not accepting payments via PayPal?

 

Hi, @PinkBear, I purchased an SD-size doll from Mandarake this month and opted for DHL. It took three days for the doll to arrive, and all was smooth sailing. Hope you can get your grail!

 

@Arara Just handle her head from behind her ears and/or through the wig and you should be fine. I had my Isao repainted last year and his original faceup from 2004 was still intact, it's just that over the 15 years of his life the sealant eventually wore down and got shiny. None of the paint or blushing was missing though.

@PinkBear I don't think EMS is even available now but definitely still avoid it, the doll I ordered from Mandarake in April still hasn't even moved past acceptance. I've gotten two dolls from Y!J via Buyee since he was shipped, both via DHL express. One came in 37 hours, the other took 3 days. So DHL express should still be fine.

 

I think most people keep Yugiri as a girl.

 

I talked to my parents for buying cecile with my own money and they were like i don't know what's in ur mind... Well for sure i don't have any money because my money are their money... so sad i maybe have to wait for 8 years or more until i graduated from uni and work

 

My recent order took almost a week and most of that was being stuck in Quebec. It moved like a rocket before hitting there.

Does anyone have pictures of an old F-06? Or know her wig and eye sizes? There aren't many pictures I can find, and the old resource pages images are all broken.

 

@Bristol I posted my old F06 in the old thread - she wears a 9/10 inch wig and custom eyes that I think are 18mm

 

Wow, looks like may have always underappreciated Yugiri, it's a really cute mold!

I finally put my F62 in the Volks Night Rose Lolita set I had found on DollyTeria/Y!J a while ago (pieces sold separately in 3 different listings, but hey) and I LOVE it on her. Been planning to do a twin shoot with her and my F73 ever since I got the set and yesterday I finally had the time to do it. Proud of this pose, the only thing holding them up on that thick throw blanket that's under their feet is eachother!

Just got my Global Membership too! This feels like being a Volks member back in the old days! I'm still not sure if I'm putting in for a Williams or not. I have some ideas of a little back story for him and Etienne involving the French Revolution. But I'm also about to remodel our kitchen so -- you know adult priorities and whatnot.

Thanks to those of you who posted about the Global Membership! It's really exciting. We were supposed to visit Japan later this month, back in another life, and it would have been perfect to be able to visit Sato without a reservation. But someday!

 

Okay had a look at the one offs again and actually I just want those ship headdresses. Keep the dolls

This is so very exciting but I am now extremely torn. I want to enter for RG Williams more than anything as he is my ultimate dream doll and I spend at least 10 minutes a day staring at him. However, I also really want Cecile but I cannot, by chance, get both. If I don't buy Cecile and then don't win RG Williams (which is very likely) then I get nobody! The conundrum I suppose this is what credit cards are for!

 

I've just got my membership...I saw the heads and the Williams and Cecile preorders...then went to look at the Dolpa one offs...

Trying to get my membership but Volks keeps denying my card. Ugh... This never happened before. -__-

My ethical dilemma is always that, not being fond of the current colour palettes used in faceups, would I feel bad if I won a one-off and then decided to wipe it..?

It did for me...the preorders were there as well as the DWC heads and torsos. You have to click into the Dolpa 43 banner though to see the one-offs though...and then I just used an online translator to read. However, there's a message on the one offs page in English in large, friendly letters, saying you need to have the GL membership to go into the lotteries...

I had to go round twice as it said it was 'busy', but I paid using Paypal, so perhaps that made the difference...

And yeah...I'm getting a warm fuzzy feeling thinking about Yugiri, but it's going to be more of a case of one in, one out this time... the resins cabinet has reached capacity! And there's no more space for other cabinets, so difficult decisions will have to be made.

 

You're not alone on that. As gorgeous as their face-ups are, I'd probably end up changing them too since they really wouldn't fit with the rest if my dolls. A lot of these sculpts are hard to obtain so winning a one-off is most likely our only chance of acquiring one without having to sell a kidney.

I feel you. I always told myself one cabinet only and it's already at its full capacity and I have three more SD17 dolls to fit in there.

Ended up paying for my membership via PayPal! Now I'm a proud member of Volks also haha. Not sure if I'm going to enter any of the lotteries but I just love they offered the option to their international fans so I had to get it!

 

@purplepaws Oh me too! So proud! But as I scrolled down and looked at what else is available to members...ahhhh, if I ever get the chance to visit Japan, I can go to Sato! Not likely to happen, but knowing it could be possible...*happy sigh* Nirvana...

Just got my membership! Does anyone know if it is okay for other family members to have membership too? We live at the same address, so I wasn't sure if that would be a problem for the one-off lottery entry. I recall it was okay for the USA holiday lotteries, but I didn't want to harm the chances of winning if Volks had a problem with entries from the same address / same last name.
