@Kykycik I'm also curious about that paid - exchange service in my other previous post but no one would discuss about it?

 

The paid exchange service is that Volks allows Volks owners who are residents of Japan, I know they used to allow Koreans do the service as well but I am not sure if that has continued since they closed the Korean Sumika, to send in their doll heads that they own and exchange them for a new head for a price. So say you had a really old first release Michele who got yellowed. Japanese collectors could send that head in to Volks and get back a newly cast Michele head. They do not offer this service for every one of their sculpts though, and they made changes to it recently requiring the owner have the headplate and I think more stringent inspection to make sure the doll head being sent in is a legitimate Volks doll.

 

While we are at this topic...
I don't remember seeing which sculpts will be available for the exchange this time, is there a list somewhere? I never really bothered about the exchange service but I would be interested to know more about it.
I think they always offer different sizes right? Does the list of available sculpts within one size ever change or will a certain sculpt never show up if it´s not on the list now?
Has anyone here gone through the process of exchanging a head (either themselves or maybe through a proxy)? What were your experiences?

She is great, thank you for posting that. Think mine will be getting a body blush. Her skin is so fair I think it's going to look better with a bit of color.

I live very close to the Volks USA location. I wonder if I could come there and request for exchange service. I must be so much convenient if they would also do exchange for body.

 

Every time I see this outfit I am in awe. In fact, I may have to swipe a few things from this to touch up my human-sized cosplay. Like that HAT. I love the hat to death.

 

Another head mold number, for anyone interested. I have a Shirou Tachibana After School head from 2006. His mold number is 31.

 

You could try, but so far this service hasn’t been made available to the US. Also as @eleniel pointed out above, the exchange is for the head only, not for the body.

 

Volks has done occasional body exchanges before, but they often cost the market value or so for the price of the body exchange, so I've not really felt it was a worthwhile thing to do. I'd do a head before a body. I thought they did some for a bit for the SD10s to get the double jointed arm, but I haven't seen anything in quite some time (years?), so I'm assuming that's closed now.

@Brightfires - she's GORGEOUS. I don't think I'd change a thing about her faceup, she's that stunning. And that uniform is bananas.

Crossing my fingers it is still in stock and thus it is mine, but I really love the Yugiri Seirei body and hopefully just managed to snag one for hopefully upgrading my Liz.

Belated congrats to all the Oscar and Andre owners! I can't wait too see everyone's pictures when they arrive.

Anyways, just popping in with a picture of Paige with an awesome hat from the Dolpa 40 collection! I'm starting to (slowly) build her wardrobe, so hopefully I'll finally change her out of this Little Moda outfit. I just need to get off my butt and take more pictures of my dolls.

 

Oh man I can’t wait until the Dolpa attendees get their winning notices for Lieselotte and Luna..... really looking forward to seeing some pictures!

 

Everything is so close together this time... personally I can´t wait to wake up one day and suddenly see the dolls for Dolpa 41 have been announced/leaked... I mean by the time the After Event for Luna and Lieselotte comes along, we might already know what's coming next. This is such a surreal feeling - not that I hate it, it´s very helpful to know about possible future expenses before entering for a doll.

When is the next event after Dolpa 41, somewhere in summer? I was going to say, having everything so close together now could make for a summer without any news - then I remembered that there is still the Atami to provide us with broken hearts and lots of lovely pics.

FYI - about the trade-in service - the most updated info is always here, if anyone wants more information. It does include bodies as well as heads but everything has exceptions.

 

This is probably a silly question but, Volks SD16 doll clothes do not fit an SD10 sized doll, do they? I like the Eclair bustle dress but, it doesn't come in SD size. I'm wondering if the SD16 version, which I know is currently out of stock, might work. I don't mind if it's a bit too long but, if it's too small in the waist, then obviously it won't work.

 

SD16 clothing on SD10 body is usually not possible. The waist on SD16 is about 2 cm smaller than SD10 and the bust about 3cm larger than SD10.

 

@Allie27 Technically, no. It's likely to be too tight around the waist, and it'll definitely be too long. I've put things on dolls that don't technically fit and not fastened them or only fastened them partway though; sometimes it works fine, sometimes it really doesn't. It mostly depends on how fitted the dress is - and how fitted you want it to look!

I highly recommend the Eclair and Myrtille dresses! It turns out that they're made out of some microsuede type fabric and are wonderfully soft. The Eclair Bustle dress is currently in stock on the Volks Japan English site.

Hi guys! Everyone's dolls both old and new releases are lovely.

It's my first time to post here but I've been a fan of Volks dolls by the longest time and finally a got two girls! I have a Jun Tachibana and F-26.

It doesn't say anything about fitting on SDGR or SD16 heads. Do you think it would fit? It's shown in that original image on an FCS F-38.

 

@TabletopPhantom : It'll fit! The DD heads are 8"-9". Technically the DD sized wigs will fit SD/SDGr/SD16/SD17 and etc. They actually have a decent amount of stretch so you can sometimes get them to fit on big ol' melons like Megu/F-01.

My Reisner sometimes wears a a DD wig since his head is a wee bit small for SD 9"-10" wigs. (I only learned this after I bought a ton of 9"-10" wigs..........."

@Marie Angelcakes : I absolutely love how you styled your F-26. She looks so dreamy and I'm enamored with that lavender wig that she's sporting there.

In terms of DD size wigs from Volks, I have an F38 his head is really small (feels more like an 7-8 inch head to be honest). Reisner's head (9-10 inch) is WAY bigger than F38 so that DD wig will fit F38 for sure but since Volks DD wigs have a nice stretch, it fits big heads like Reisner as well. Not sure about F-01 though (I think it might not fit her)

 

I was looking at that and realizing just how much I needed it. To be able to zoom in on the details on a face up and perhaps reference it for doing my own work (not something I am ready for yet, but I’d like to be!) is an amazing idea. -puts on my own shopping list!-

 

Just with regards to the numbers in the heads - I recently purchased a renewal version (2010) of F42/Elena, and when packing her up to go to the day spa, I found that the number in her head is 60, not 42 like I would have thought...

 

Maybe All Elena heads just says 60 inside (doesn't matter if it was a Standard Elena or FCS-42 since she started out as NONE FCS.) Then this probably applies to Kanata and Rinon standards and FCS (meaning they would also not have F-## inside unlike like a regular FCS head would have) This probably also means Elena head remains the same head this whole time and was never resculpted or updated. This is just my own assumption......

And @Marie Angelcakes, Hi Jae! We had a discussion on ManikaManila a while back about my upcoming family of "big" (sadly non-Volks) boys and how I'm going to manage carrying them around.

 

@Chobittum @Izam My Kanata is 79, so yes I believe that's correct - if something's released as a named head prior to being an FCS mold, it probably has a sequential number rather than the F#. I'd assume even the more recent standards (which they obviously intend to release as FCS eventually) are the same, as they're probably not sure exactly what # they'll be until after their original release.

 

When we're talking about head sizes... F-16 is on the way to me and I'm wondering - is it's head around 9-10 size? Do I have to be really careful with wigs?

 

@Marie Angelcakes your F26 is delightful...and her faceup is so different from many others I've seen and completely changes the look of the sculpt. Gorgeous...

@mx_95 I have several F16s and usually just use 8-9 - but my preference is for Monique Gold, and they have elasticated edges on their wigs. But when I did FCS for my Victoria ( < < my avatar!), I just ordered an SD wig from Volks and it fit fine...

 

Yep. Monique 8-9 wigs will definitely fit on F-16 heads. That's what I have on Brooke at the moment.

 

The F16 does have a larger head, but it's not huge. Tight 8-9s won't fit (or at least not well) but elastic ones are fine. Volks DD or SD size both fit fine.

 

Ahhh thank you very much guys! Even elastic enough 8-9 would be okay... That's nice because as long as I was planning to get that doll I was only looking at 9-10. :'D Thank you I'll look at Monique wigs too!

 

Stretching a DD wig to fit an SD can cause the hair to lie differently. With bangs in particular this can have undesirable results.

There are a few DD that have such big heads they have that same issue with DD sized wigs.

 

F16's heads is definitely 9-10 inch. But if an 8-9 inch wig has a nice stretch it will be ok for it too.

Volks please release a sunlight SD17 body because I really dislike my sunlight F16 boy's proportion on SDGr orz.
