Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XX

Feb 7, 2017

    1. Just checked on Volks' website and the Tokyo Bay Cruise page now says that, as of yesterday, they have started sending notification/payment mails to the lottery winners for the tickets. They state it may take up to one week so I guess we'll all know by the end of the week whether we're going to the cruise or not ... Nothing here, so far. Good thing I got a "Plan B" so if I don't get a ticket it will kinda suck but I won't be too disappointed ... ;)

    2. @meeve Yikes yeah someone just messaged me saying they'd seen one already that sold instantly and was that price. So crazy! I knew that would probably bet he case though! I just hope those of us who really wanted him for keeping get to have him!
@Khell Haha Plan B's are good to have ;)

He will be at the LA even too I think? Hopefully on a long enough timeline most of the folks who want him will get him :)

    4. Volks seems to be hinting that he will be, but in what capacity or amount we don't know yet.

    5. Have they said when they are going to do the online FCS again?

    6. Yay, new thread! There's so many exciting things going on, it's no wonder we've hit capacity. :XD:

@Cloudedmind Yes, agreed. He may just be a special lottery doll or the 'one for all' doll. Let's hope it's a preorder instead. :3nodding:

@Ravenwolf That's wild!:aeyepop: Amazing he sold instantly at that price. I suppose that for people who follow the story closely this must be even more exciting than I could imagine. He is a beautiful doll, certainly.

@ruskyles What a gorgeous girl! Congratulations on getting her back. She is truly beautiful and I hope we get to see more of her on the forum soon!:D

Here's a pic of my Coco who remains without an original name but is by far probably my favorite standard girl I have ever purchased. She's the right girl for for the outfit!

*update* This is one of the worst staining outfits I have ever had from Volks. If you are planning on buying this: please beware! Since I am/was a DD owner before resin I dress all my dolls in light under garments when wearing black clothing. The stockings completely dyed the undergarments/protection stocking bright orange. Where the shoes came into contact with the stockings and under stockings it stained through two stain protecting layers. (I have had issues with black stockings from Volks before so I used more than one layer) Coco made it out unscathed but the stain protection clothing is ruined with bright orange and brown stains. Additionally the black waist band of the petticoat also stained the under garment.:shudder

@derilan85 I haven't seen any announcements for online FCS in the USA this year yet! Probably soon though, right? :aheartbea

    7. Does anyone remember the Order payment or shipping estimated time for the Volks USA Jo and Beth dolls? I saw that Volks International is going for payments by end of Feb and shipping from this summer some time, but nothing further than that.

      It's a pretty vague time-frame...

    9. Really? Summer is 5 months away at least? I can't remember a lottery ever taking that long to full fill. The last time I won was Volks Charlotte 2010. I can't remember the time frame but it wasn't 5 months.

    10. @nakitaninja, such a pretty outfit It's the first time I see a Coco with short hair, it really suits her well :aheartbea

@DemonMiko, I haven't seen much information around either, but also noticed that the winning mails were said to be sent by the 20th of February. Maybe they're just giving themselves a longer time frame to be sure that everything proceeds nicely?

    11. Maybe there were more winners than usual? More dolls to make? Anyone know how many are being made?

    12. You know, I only saw the estimate on Volks Int'l for June 2017. Didn't see anything from Volks USA about and ETA yet. But it's such a long way away!

    13. I won a Jo! This is probably the first doll I've bought in about a year and a half. I totally lost interest in dolls when my dad died. I think that Jo will help re-ignite that old flame. I really dislike her faceup, though. Which is a bummer.

It looks like it says sometime in the summer on the Volks USA website too. Damn why so long?

    14. @Cloudedmind @Ravenwolf @meeve @Khell @KeiCai_Ayan and anyone else who also entered... the drawing for the Tokyo cruise wasn't over... I made it in! :cheer Hoping everyone else gets their notifications soon too! Please pm me if you made it in- maybe we can meet up! :dance

[IMG]Looks like I'll be going on a cruise?! by NakitaN, on Flickr

@Tetradeka Ah congrats on winning such a gorgeous girl. I agree with you on the face-up- it's really beautiful in its own fashion but I'll be excited to see lots of stunning repaints. She has to be one of Volks most beautiful sculpts ever. :3nodding:

Also also.... yes, 5 months is a really long time for delivery. I wonder if they are making larger amounts of the dolls since the ones at dolpa were all guaranteed upon attendance and it consequently moves the timeline back for everyone in the online lottery? Hmmm.

    15. @nakitaninja I also got an email, I made it in!

ALSO, I think it's OK to mention this. The email didn't ask that I don't, but I also got a secondary email from Volks saying that they'd be holding a Dolls Party in LA in September and that they'd be taking orders for Williams and other dolls for those who make it into the Tea Party. As such I have until March 6 to withdrawal from the Cruise. They also mention "*Participation in the Tea Party may be decided by lottery."

      • x 2
    16. Congrats!!! I hope you decide to go because I would love to meet you (PM me if you decide to go?:aheartbea) but... I also completely understand if you opted to try to go to Dolpa in the US instead. It makes a lot of sense. It will still be a lottery to get into the doll party but how wonderful for those who *do* get in! That's fantastic! :D I think you've given a lot of people who also want to welcome Williams renewed hope.:aheartbea

It's also pretty cool they let you have time to decide what you'd like to do. :3nodding:

    17. @Tetradeka Congratulations! I hope she does reignite the hobby for you. She is a beautiful doll and with a custom faceup, you can make her your own.

    18. I also got an email that I got in. *_____*

I also got the second e-mail mentioning the LA Dolpa. I might send a reply asking for more information, if orders will be similar to the cruise in that they are guaranteed (vs lottery) and they will have enough for everyone at the Tea Party. I'm happy we have until March 6th to make the payment. It appears I've made it into both the afternoon and evening cruises as I applied for both!

I'll be thinking on this all today of what to do. I'm really excited it appears they've accepted several foreign fans!

    19. @Ravenwolf @nakitaninja @KeiCai_Ayan I received the email from volks for the cruise!!

Looks like quite a number of us have gotten it, for those who are going. Maybe we can arrange to meet at the venue on that day itself :)

    21. Hi congrats to everyone! Yes I got the e-mail this morning and got in too but I decided to withdraw and
will probably go to the CA event instead because my husband had wanted to go to CA anyway
for some other things. We would rather go to Japan on our own time when it's not for an already set
event I think. Congrats again to everyone who is getting their winning e-mails!!! :D

    22. Will do!

I'm on the fence now because my brother is planning a trip to Japan next year with some friends of ours, and I definitely want to go with them. I've got about a month to think it over so I'll see.

    23. That's exciting for everyone with the USA lottery and the cruise lotteries so close together! I'm excited to see all of the dolls that will be incoming!

That makes me conflicted about whether I want to go to the Tea Party now. The Oath of the Silver Coin dolls haven't ever been high on my list, and if the cruise dolls are pre-orders instead of just having one-off models for sale, I'd feel a little weird.

    24. From what I remember from the VolksUSA information page for the lottery, the doll is due to be shipped "this summer." Nothing more specific than that. Per the winning email, payment was due practically immediately. Because of the "lost emails" issue, they extended the payment date until today, February 8. I made payment the same evening I got the replacement email (I was one of the "lost"), which was Monday, February 6.

Congrats to those who won the cruise invite! I had been thinking about trying for the US tea party, but to be honest, I'm not a big fan of the event doll, and since a couple of other events have since come up, I'm bowing out of this one. I still hope to make an official Volks party in the future, though.

    25. That is great news. Just thinking I actually have a shot at getting Williams makes me feel giddy! I wasn't able to get in the tea party last year... I hope they will have a bigger venue this time so more people can attend. :D

Congrats to everyone who got in the cruise too!

    26. So, looks like Mother SD has deemed me worthy of owning a Williams - since I got a Cruise mail, too. Never have parted with such a huge amount of money with such a big smile on my face. I was grinning like an idiot. XD
Now I'll spend the nights till April between dreams of my dream boy Williams coming home and nightmares of me getting totally lost in Tokyo. *gg* I just have enough money saved up for the event plus Williams plus flight plus hotel. And by the time it comes, I guess I'll have some more money saved up so I can actually buy myself some food over in Japan, too. XD

This is just so perfect. My birthday's exactly two weeks before the cruise. I'm turning 40. That cruise is exactly THE kind of Volks event I'd secretly been dreaming of going to for my 40th birthday. You know, go to Japan, visit super-special Volks event, get super-special doll. Never would have thought it would actually work out. I guess I won't believe it's happening till I'm actually there. :D

    27. did anyone else got an additional winning lottery mail from VolksUSA? looks like I won both Jo and Beth after all...?

It seems like my Beth is from the redraw of the cancelled doll portions.

    30. Went to the movies with the spouse, checked my phone when we got out. Oh, email from Volks? Probably the officially 'you are a loser' mail.

Nope. Looks like Jo is headed my way after all!

    31. That's so exciting to see so many winning emails from Volks about Jo and Beth! It's a mystery how so many original emails got lost.

It really seemed like we weren't going to see much happy news, but congratulations to everyone who will be welcoming new dolls!

    32. It is indeed exciting to see so many winning emails this time around!! It reminds me of the time when Volksusa still takes lottery for dolls 2-3 years ago!!!

    33. Thank you so much!!! I paid right after I receive the email just in case it is a mistake from them!

    34. Ooh I'm so glad that more of us got her! :) This thread is going to be totally bonkers when the Jo's and Beths start arriving!

    35. I was another one that got one of the Monday emails, so count me in with a Jo. :)

    36. Congrats to everyone who won!

Now, Volks, let's talk about a certain Tokyo Boy you've never re-released that won't leave my heart alone...

    37. Tsukasa Konoe is a love of mine, too. A few years back I found one that had not been repainted and was in pretty good shape; and I thought that as soon as I got him, Volks would do a re-release.

    38. I like how I don't even have to name him for people to know who I mean. XD

There was one on Dollyteria a couple days ago but I missed him, sigh. Someday.

    39. It is a little odd that they've never done another Tsukasa release... He's always seemed to be reasonably popular, so you know there have to have been requests over the years.

    40. Agreed! I don't understand why all the other dolls from the Tokyo Boys Story got re-released except Tsukasa. I keep crossing my fingers for him to come back every time a new dolpa is announced and I am always disappointed.

    41. Perhaps we should inundate VolksUSA with requests for him so they know that the rarest of the Tokyo Boys Story is greatly desired among their collectors, especially in a grown-up SD17 form.

    42. Now I am starting looking for the white skin sleeping William, he is so beautiful, I believe many people want to buy one.....However, many I don't have enough money to buy him:(

    43. ^^^^ Just curious, how much is he?

    45. Annnd there's the other Williams!! I'm surprised he's coming out so close to the Cruise. I had hoped he'd be toward the end of the year (as I shamelessly want twins).

That Kohya doppelgänger looks beautiful too. :aheartbea

    47. Well... I mean I never thought having only one Williams was enough. One gotta have at least two, right? I'm just trying to justify my spending habits. :abambi:

    48. I have been reduced to a gibbering pile of WANT over this new Williams. His faceup is perfection, such moody, haughty amazing-ness.

    49. Foxy, foxy dudes. O_O

I don't have room for either of them here, alas... But good luck for you guys who are going to try for them.

    50. Yes, please, let's! :dance

If anyone would like to ask for Tsukasa, the Volks USA email is: [email protected]. I'm personally going to email Volks International because I figure Volks USA will just be forwarding our comments to them anyway. Their email is: [email protected]

    51. Yep, because the world can never have to much Williams. So, any funny/interesting takes on who the new Oath boy is? The slashier your take the better. xD

      • x 1
    52. I have my wishes but I know it'll be a boy because he's too beautiful and they do sell better. I just wish they'd release him on a gender neutral tenshi body and then it would be peeeerfect. :apirate:

*¡¡¡¡warning TLDR; for those of you not interested in the plot of OoSC so please skip!!!!*

Maybe it goes a little something like this: *wavy fade to another scene*

After the duel between Williams and Cecil, Elizabeth was ruined. She had lost both her love and her brother and there was nothing left to her but betrayal and heartbreak. Cecil was banished and Williams left for the Royal Navy the next day. Then there was the talk- her reputation for being betrothed to a vagabond brought shame upon her and she was cast out of society. Her parents could no longer even look at her without their hearts breaking.

It was hoped in time that the censure would pass and so the decisions was made to send her away from her childhood home to a distant nunnery where she could continue her education and life away from gossips and prying eyes.

Unfortunately for Elizabeth she could not forget that time nor her love, Cecil. Her depression grew and she began to waste away. The only time she came alive was when she was in her library or at her studies. Her tutors who were instructed to give her a only the expected, remedial education as befitting a “lady” of her stature, saw her listless eye come alive when challenged with the mysteries of science.

As a result her tutors took pity on her and indulged her curiosities for the world- in particularly she was interested in navigation, the use of a sextant and astronomy. Eventually she had surpassed what they could teach her but it was obvious she hungered for more knowledge. As time passed Elizabeth flourished- her appetite for learning fueled her and she became more even more beautiful than ever before- but that beauty had a dangerous edge to it. Those who kept company with her could see the fire in her eyes was insatiable and her future called to her across the sea.

By this time she was 18 and her parents had made preparations to receive her back home for an arranged marriage. While it was good for the family and would erase the black spot on her reputation, she professed little interest in it. Elizabeth was busy making other plans. After a oil lamp fire took her rooms in the nunnery late one night Elizabeth escaped into the darkness. Later she makes the transformation from “Viola to Cesario” (/Shakespeare) by cutting off her gorgeous golden hair and binding herself. The next morning she traveled to the capital and enlisted in the Royal Navy hoping to serve in the role of Navigator.

Elizabeth is fiercely devote to her job and her education serves her well- not only does she apply herself courageously but also learns much of leadership and the outside world. Though as a man she appears boyish with the air of an aristocrat those who mistake her for frail do so at their own peril. Though quiet she is cuts to the quick with her wit, fierce courage and an unparalleled intelligence that advanced her through the navy at an unprecedented pace as a master tactician. She is peerless in her performance with her firearm and is admired by many- particularly noblewomen. (looking at you Oscar François de Jarjayes)

Elizabeth is eventually appointed to Williams ship as his navigator. Sister stands before brother, divided by years and experience- Elizabeth sees this day as her final test and if he does not recognize her then she has passed. She knows in her heart she cannot go back to the life she knew before, nor does she wish to but this also means she must always be a stranger to her brother. In their first meeting she is both elated and grieved: he does not know her.

She also learns through Williams of their parents death the past year. She is initially shocked and feels regret but reflects that she ‘curiously’ feels much less than expected and wonders what has become of her heart. As a result she decides to give herself over to her career and serve her brother -her last remaining relative- with the loyalty of family and the courage befitting an officer:

“Though he may not know me as sister, I shall serve Williams as a truer blade than any before me. I have been tempered by the fires of grief and war- I shall not bend nor break for any in my path!” (looking at you Cecil)

Elizabeth keeps her word and serves Williams fiercely with a quiet dignity, anticipating his needs before he himself even knows what they are. Though they do not converse outside of what duty requires, their communication appears preternatural to many. Williams himself takes note of it but brushes the thought aside. He has also changed in the last years and keeps to his cabin if he duty does not require him to be elsewhere. He endlessly and ineffectively pours over maps and books always searching....as he is engaged in fighting his own personal demons- his own darkness and thirst for revenge. (referring to romantic glance version of Will, naturally)

      ****

      Time passes~

After searching and serving in many military battles in the navy Elizabeth encounters Resiner at the masquerade held by the Royal Navy to celebrate Williams advancement and honor his heroics in combat. Resiner has fooled everyone at the mask into thinking him one of the most beautiful noblewomen in attendance but he is actually infiltrating as an assassination attempt on Williams life at the behest of Cecil who has sunken into madness.

Elizabeth is struck by the feeling she knows him and yet all the "woman's" movements seem to be otherworldly, belonging to someone else or something else she's never seen before. Emboldened in the moment she asks Resiner to dance and he/she consents. They both dance skillfully, each playing the part of someone else from another time- even onlookers are impressed with how well they look together. They dance away from the crowd and have light conversation about whatever inconsequential matters like, say, "the weather".

Elizabeth sees in the moonlight what Resiner's masquerade mask has hidden! The scar! The similarities in the appearance between Cecil and Resiner- down the very scar Williams had inflicted upon him are staggering. Yet somehow in her heart of hearts Elizabeth realizes it is not him- but sees he is armed!

Elizabeth cries out in shock and draws her firearm and holds it dead level in Resiner's eye line... but she find she cannot, for the first time in her career, shoot the man who looks so much like the young man she once loved. She hesitates (and hates herself for it). Resiner looks into her eyes is taken aback because as she cries out she has betrayed herself and he sees her to be a woman- in this moment they are both exposed and confused. He has little time to ponder who this person is as he is set upon by guards and is forced to escape into the darkness of the night... (<---it's probably by jumping over a balcony or swinging off something while look awesome.)

Elizabeth is heralded as a hero and foiling an assassination attempt by the Navy but, knowing the truth, she feels confused and lost after the encounter. Borne of this frustration, sorrow and confusion comes her steel resolve and to courageously seek out the identity of the man who would be Cecil...

Thank you all and I hope you enjoyed it even if it's a little different interpretation from what everyone else expects/wants.:abow:

    53. @nakitaninja So when are you going to start writing your OoSC fanfic and putting it up on Archive of Our Own? xD Again you slay me. It would be funny if the new doll did indeed end up being Elizabeth as a "boy". As I was reading your take, your version of Elizabeth reminded me a bit of Marie-Josephe from Innocent. If you'e never heard of it before, you should check it out. It's an interesting manga.

    54. Hey. A few posts ago I was asking about the Alice/Lorinna mouth shape. The reason is because some photos make the mouth look deep but lacking a hole. Others show a very distinct hole? Is there any difference in the molds? Attaching image to illustrate what I'm talking about.[IMG]

    55. Thanks for the info and lovely pic! He is gorgeous! I hope you get him and spam us dearly!! LOL

      • x 1
    56. @Cloudedmind Hahaha, yeah, I totally get carried away but somehow that story just writes itself. I really think it's because those are some of my favorite literary tropes. I'm not fooling myself though- I doubt a cross-dressing Elizabeth doll would sell nearly as well as an exceptionally handsome second on Williams ship. It's probably a Folken/Dilandau situation more than anything else. (No Escaflowne spoilers here but, uh, my plot would still basically work- right?!) I will definitely check Innocent out! Thank you for the suggestion!:aheartbea

@Isenn I know this sound odd but I really feel like it is the angle in those pictures that is deceiving- along with the fact that the paint in the mouth on the right is darker to accentuate the difference? I do think there is a significant gap but, of course, only people who have both can really answer with any authority. I bet we'll hear form someone soon!:)

@callasdoll Oh, thank you! He is guaranteed delivery as long as I attend the cruise. I ordered him and Yo-Cyndy who I have always loved since her first release. I don't know when he will show up but I will definitely share tons of pics once her arrives. I hope he's finally the boy my doll family has been looking for!

Also also... I have to say I love the two new dolls and am a little sad I cannot afford to welcome them after all the cruise shenanigans. I really don't need more dolls but those two are so striking together. I really love Elizabeth's (I know it's probably not her but I can dream!!!!) gold eyes. Sigh.:aheartbea

    57. @Isenn they are all the same. It's how the lips are painted and the shadows. If you look at my Flickr, I have had a few lorina's and all painted differently. Their default faceups unless they do lip mods are the same :)

    59. @nakitaninja - Can you point me in the direction of these new dollies? I was looking all over the Volks website today and didn't see anything about them. :(

    60. @wherethelilacsbloom Nakitaninja has a picture of them in one of her posts further up the page. The picture originally came from Volks Japanese facebook page.

@nakitaninja Yeah, as you say it's most likely a Folken/Dilandau sort of situation, but your theory could still work. (Loves Escaflowne)
