I really love the faceup on Jun they did for Ariel, and that wig is just perfect. They always knock it out of the park for the Disney collabs.

@himitsu Volks dolls will yellow but It's not so much a green as a mellow yellow. I just took a comparison shot of my three Volks white skin dolls in natural lighting. Masha is the oldest and compared to Williams, she still looks great. She is on an SD13 body that isn't her original and it did yellow a tad more than the head. When you compare Masha's neck color to Will's you can see the aging more clearly. I am actually looking forward to Will aging a bit because he almost glows white.

I took a bunch of comparison pictures between the new revival 13 body and the SDGr body which I still need to sort through and edit, so I'll just add my findings so far. The body feels like a modified SDGr body. It shares the exact same hands and feet, and aside from the extra length of the legs on the SDGr body, most of which comes from the lower part of the legs, the legs are also pretty much identical and interchangeable. So if you wanted a taller revival body you could take the legs from an SDGr body to make it taller, or do the reverse and take the legs from the revival body and put them on an SDGr body. The biggest difference is in the torso which is thicker width wise from the SDGr body. Anyway with the hands and feet being interchangeable with the SDGr body perhaps this means that one day the revival body will join FCS.

Also, there was a change in the stringing channel position in the hips of the revival body. On the SDGr body the stringing hole in the hip part is closer to the outer thigh, but on the revival body the hole is closer to the inner thigh. I don't know about anyone else but I always have to be careful about my Gr boy wanting to pitch forward at the hips, and unless I have him leaning against something I tend to have to position his legs in a wide stance to keep this from happening, as the position of the stringing hole lines up almost perfectly with the channel for the upper thigh when the legs are closer together.

However, on the revival body I don't have this problem. Because of the position of the stringing hole on the hip part, when the legs are straight the strings sit behind the top thigh part. This does create another problem though. When I try to get him to sit, I have to put a little more effort in to make sure the strings slide into the notched slots at the top of the topmost thigh piece, and don't get stuck behind them preventing him sitting properly.

I love the look of the revival body, I have found the SD13 body too chunky, and I was put off the SDGR body by the skinny lines, but this might be the perfect midway point. Thank you for your detailed review @Cloudedmind, looking forward to pics when you have time.

What a lovely girl, @Dollfie-Sarah ! Looks like an F-05/old F-08? Still one of my favorite sculpts! Oh, if only Volks USA would release her in online FCS, she's gotten hard to find these days...

Volks resin really seems to age well, both beauty white and normal, doesn't it? My Isao and Tsukasa are both heavily yellowed with age, and yet they still look good.

@Cloudedmind Ohh, I did not need to see that. I'm a sucker for getting dolls that are slightly different. Theodore is looking more and more tempting as a friend for my SDGr boy. But I've not had great luck with Volks limited in the past; I haven't liked the face up when they show up. Plus I kinda like Ernest's barely open eyes though he doesn't line up with any planned characters. (Yet.)

 

C'mon Volks why show me Ariel knowing full well that I can't out right buy her now?! She is just stunning!

 

Figures she would be a one-off doll. Now I need to think about replacing a current doll that has yellowed to the point of no return.........ahh tax refund.

 

I don't see the Ariel one-off, is it on the USA site?

Also, does anyone know why they changed their name to Theodore and Ernest if they're the same mold as Lucas?

Fella must've had a rough flight/ride to me! I contacted Volks Sunday and haven't received a reply yet. I just sent them a reminder email a few minutes ago asking for help. Perhaps it's taking them a while to get back to me because of limited English-speaking/writing staff? I'm eager to get my poor lad mended soon.

 

@nikittin Oh no! That is such a shame, I hope Volks can help sort things out soon and replace the calf for you. I think Ernest is just stunning, I'm looking forward to seeing more pics of him.

@himitsu Ernest is lovely in person. I tried my RG Williams fullset wig on him, and I now the urge to get an additional head to turn into a girl. It's rare that I want to turn boy sculpts into girls, but I was getting Masha/Sasha vibes (which makes sense since they're all related).

 

I believe this is a limited lottery (?) through or for the Takashimaya Department store in Japan where there will be a Juninchi Nakahara display from March 28 - April 10. The same display was at Dolpa 36. I will guess that it's unlikely we would see this at VolksUSA. But I could be very wrong.

 

I received a SD13 Eden from Volks Int. with a broken ankle several years ago. The process to get a replacement part was about a month, and Im sure I had to pay to ship the piece back to them.

Thank you for the information! Thats a little bit disappointing, since I love this rendition better. Thought it might have been Amy or Meg March. But i believe she comes with GE-11 Zoukeimura eyes, so it makes more sense that shes a special limited.

Oh, dear! Sorry to hear about that, Daniel. Did they charge you for the replacement part? Many moons ago, I paid for a replacement calf for a Magical Michael from Volks USA but it was well after I purchased him. On a separate occasion, Volks USA replaced a broken elf ear free-of-charge for my Kaelin when I unboxed him at the store.

I wonder if Volks International will allow me to fix the problem with Volks USA to help soften the burden of paying out of pocket to ship the part back to them. Here's hoping!

I'll have to send Audrey (my old F08) out for a face-up next. Found her a body on Y!Auctions for a really good price, old style (the kind with the hands and feet tied on), WS (perfect colour match) and generally very nice. The lower arms are mixed up (left one's on the right and right one's on the left) and her left foot keeps falling off but I'll have to restring and clean the body anyways, and get more S-hooks. Really happy that I was able to get Audrey a body so soon!

 

Thanks @Khell it was La Coterie de la Lune, and was in part trade for my F07 (who just didn't work out here unfortunately). I love the hairy eyebrows she does on her Blythe commissions, so I asked for them specifically to be a bit bushy!

Exciting about Audrey, I am so looking forward to seeing her all finished, and a stroke of luck to have found the right body and it be an exact colour match. I love the older Volks girls, so characterful!

 

Oh yes, I love that "attitude" of that F08 head! That's why her name's Audrey - Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks, and I plan on her getting a face-up similar to Audrey's face. Can't wait either, but it'll take a bit since I'm paying off two layaways right now.

 

For those who can see Facebook, I found scans of News 77 for your viewing pleasure. Some of the upcoming lolita styled dresses are very cute and I'm definitely going to need to try for the red SD mary jane style flats. There's more info on the ice skates too.

I voted for Momoko, Shinku & Luna. It's very tempting to vote for some of the older or newer girls but in the end I had to go with my personal preferences for style which is pretty specifically BtSSB clad Sd10 girls and oh how I'd love to see Shinku get a re- release.

 

Suigintou !! would be very very nice.

 

I voted for Miruku, Sd16 Amelia, and SD16 Megu. Lol...I don't think they can compete with the licensed characters, but worth a shot!
