I'm very fascinated by his nose. There hasn't been a great deal of nose structure variations in Granado's guys, and I especially want to see a sculpt with an aquiline nose. I can't tell from the tiny preview in their sales page but it looks like Michael might have that.

 

Michael looks very promising, but I don't see the new body on the website, yet you can purchase the new body with Michael. I am confused.

 

I think they are just still editing the video showing off his body...

At least yours still has one Mine's gone thin as a stick insect over all these discounts and discontinuations. At least one of my incomings might ship soon

If that's the case, I'm freaking doomed. (Not sure whether to hope for it or be afraid ... very, very afraid. )

I guess the body will be up later. Michael's page is still in the "preview phase" too, so I guess they'll update both at once.

 

Embody's video and pictures are nearly finished, but I am still working on Michael's video. **Tired**

 

LOL it must be hard to keep up with Crocus Lee. Maybe he will sleep a little in September.

@Snowy I almost forgot to tell you-- I did get Mercury-- but the girl version, and not the boy version. I just got some wigs from another DoA user so I was trying them on her--this one looks very "waif" like..she could be some kind of fairy in it with the right outfit:

She's so fun to pose on her Maiden body, too!

 

I already bought Enoch... Heck I'll probably but Michael as an early birthday gift to myself... For next year....

@fishcake Ooooh! I love her in that wig, and in that... outfit? She might just be holding fabric up to cover herself. But it looks great! Love that shot. She's so adorable. Very sweet and innocent look to her.
I want a wig like that but without bangs, for my DC Stacy.

 

My Jupiter arrived today. And he is absolutely gorgeous.
Now, what did I do with the eyes and wig I bought him? Gotta search.

@Therealwalter he is stunning... and so is his chair! I am sure the wig and eyes will turn up!

@aernath shh it's a second pair of bloomers that were too large...she has a lot of clothes but she wasn't really ready when I pulled her out of her box. I think that is another brand of wig than Monique but I will have to check the label and see--it's sort of an in-between size which is good for Mercury. and thank you!

 

@Jany Eeeh... I guess that's true. Trying to fatten it up, but things keep leeching off it. Don't have any incomings at the moment either, but enough work left to do on those I got at home.

@aernath I know, right?! I kinda wanted him on a male counterpart to the maiden body, I have to admit u.u Something slender and more filigrane in contrast to all those hunks ^^° Thought for the maiden version I had this idea of a tomboy-girl... Oh well. One day. Maybe. Next year or so? ^^°

The Embody pictures are up. Crocus does beautiful work as always, but I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for a slimmer, more trim body, but Embody looks to me like a smaller version of Titan. Furthermore, it lacks the unique traits that the Evol body has, the points that mark it distinctly as a Granado body, whereas I feel that Embody is too similar to the other 70 cm "generic" muscular male bodies out there.

Is that Uranus' head modeling the Evol body, by the way? It looks from the Embody modeling pics that Michael does have that aquiline nose thing going on. >_>

 

The Embody is a smoother Evol body. I love it. This is a trimmer body in a way that his muscles are not as defined. Just as gorgeous as all the others. Those of you hoping for a 68cm will be disappointed since he's the same size as the Evol. I'm fine either way though. except for the needing money thing XD

 

I'm glad it's not a slimmer body, I like Micheal's head, but I just bought a Pancho....I was afraid Michael might have been better, but his neck too large for what I want. So yay! Mind made! Which is good because I ordered days ago!
Gorgeous body anyway.

 

Yeah, looks like Embody is just a smoothed down Evol body. Which is what I wishhhhh Crocus would do for the Titan body.

@Therealwalter Ha! So glad I'm not the only one that misplaces things I've set aside for an incoming doll! I know that feeling: put it in a safe place, then forget where the place is... *sigh*

It's a lovely body. @sno4wy I think I see what you mean, it is reminiscent of some of the other big muscular bodies on the market, but to me this one looks so much more graceful. Now to decide if those extra few centimeters will be a deal breaker for me. I was so wishing for 68cm or even shorter!

 

The new body is gorgeous (and more “normal“, compared to Evol)...but still so huge
I actually get that smooth, pretty Iple feeling from it.

I get that Crocus can't size down the bodies much, else it gets harder and harder to use most heads on all bodies.
But I am really glad now I was able to get my Uranus on the 68 back then.

 

Drat. Okay, that could be the deal breaker for Michael ... now he really needs to be perfect by himself. On the other hand it solves the colour issue, if there's no suitable body available with him he'll have to share, which means he'll need to be NS.
Also @sno4wy that's definitely not Uranus. From the promos it could be Michael, but there's some family resemblance to Saturn too, if I'm not much mistaken.

Don't get me wrong, the body is gorgeous and it would fit "my" Michael perfectly ... but ... size. I'm starting to wish I'd gone for Enoch's head instead.

They are saying Channing Tatum will be cast in the Splash remake. Cool to know about your username. It's a cute name. I was associating it with kamaboko--which can be made in cute shapes and colors, and are actually pretty yummy, I think. (Do you have your mermaid images on the internet anywhere?)

Oh! He IS gorgeous! Love that wonderful facial hair (and I'm usually not a huge fan of facial hair on guys--but he does it well!). Please do post some more photos when you can! (hmm... I haven't checked the Granado photo thread for a while... are you all posting everything there?)

I'm surprised the Embody is yet another muscle body, too. What sort of things would make it more Granado-like? It IS a smoother style, closer to say, the Iplehouse style... but it also still looks Granado-y (and the bodies tend to change a lot from sculpt to sculpt, I think, so it's not an easy style to pin down).

I am terrible at identifying sculpts, so I have no clue about the head on the Embody, but I'd guess it could be Michael's since that's the release that's coming up...?

Totally looks like a smoothed down Evol, with the side-by-side comparison! I would have thought he'd go for at least a slightly slimmer, but still defined look, just to give folks a bit of a variety... but I do have to say, I like the new sculpt. It does look a bit more natural. And doesn't seem to have the nipples of doom, like Evol... edit--actually... Embody still has some pretty pointy nipples, just situated in a better place, I think... I had another look. It's a nice body, but pretty much a revision of Evol, it seems. I really would have liked it slightly slimmer. Ah, well...

I totally buy stuff for incoming dolls and then forget where I put them, too. agh. I really need to go and sort out all my dolls stuff. I used to keep it in order, but now it's a big pile of mess where I can't find anything! (I'm currently looking for where I put HEADS these days! I just got a body in and it's just sitting around, waiting!)

Re-releases are always welcome... (or not! what am I saying? I don't need more dolls! But... they are all so cool...! )

 

According to Granado's facebook, the new body is slimmer than the Evol. They look really close in the pictures, but maybe there's a bigger difference than we can see. We'll have to wait until they give measurements.

 

@april I think the mermaids are somewhere on the web (for SeaVision) but since they were print and T shirt pieces I am not sure how many you'd see--I did an otter for Aeris too. This was back in the late 90's too I will try to get more pix of Mercury up this weekend! I think I did a box opening here but maybe that was it.

 

I love the Embody. It solves some of the less smooth areas of the Evol body and has the more clean lines like the Nuevo had. Me likey. Might have to get Mike. (I mean Micheal.)

 

I think multiple people addressed this, but I wasn't asking about who's modeling the Embody. I think that's definitely Michael. I meant who's the head on the Evol body in the comparison shots, is it Uranus?

And somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but is that skin texture in the resin of the torso pieces???


Oh, and measurements are up! I'm looking at them....
Looks like waist and hips are smaller, but the rest is all so close. Fractions of a cm.

 

Ohhhh man I LOVE THIS NEW BODY

It's like they took Evol and kept all the energy that I loved about that sculpt, but then refined all the areas that I didn't like so much, principally the musculature of the back.

The only thing I'm not sure about is how... choppy? the elbows/knees are, just wish the engineering and sculpting could've been done in such a way as to make the transitions less sharp. The knees in particular, I feel like they'd look so much better if instead of a straight peanut joint they made the peanut itself a slightly boomerang-ish shape, such that the knee might look a bit less sliced open when it's bent.

But that aside, LOVE. Better than Iplehouse or Soom Idealian, both of which I think have awkward legs. Tough choice between this and LLT Ludwig/Ahaz's body though. I prefer Embody's chest joint, but prefer LLT's knees. Decisions, decisions...

 

I missed Jupiter, but they are really psyching me up with Michael. I -love- the new body. The EVOL was a bit too "much" for me with all the definition, and the comparison shots they posted between the bodies were very nice

@fishcake -- Heh, yeah, I know... I'll check out a date on some of my pieces that I think are fairly recent and discover they were done in the '90s... ack. Crazy: the time flying...! (Plus I need to do some more art... I've been SO lazy lately.)

@sno4wy -- Oh, sorry... yeah, I agree with aernath... I think it's Neptune on the Evol body.

@Miri -- Yeah, I know what you mean about the choppy elbows and knees. The bodies look fantastic until you bend the elbows and knees and then there are those super-obvious joints... It's not easy to engineer good looking joints, but it's true that the Granado ones really do look sliced open... (however--apparently not something bad enough for me to stop buying them!)

@LuckyXIII -- haha!!! He does look pretty ridiculous in that shirt! That would crack anyone up, I'm sure.

 

Aha, yes, I agree, it is Neptune. Sorry, I've got Uranus on the mind, since my boy's head is coming home from the wig artist. XD

 

I'm with you on the knees - sharply sliced open knees like that are pretty much an automatic DQ for me (which is kinda silly, really, because it's not like I'd ever really have to look at them - I'm really not a shorts person. There are no shorts in this house, not for me, the Hus and really none of the dolls either (except the Frankensteins, who are the exception to pretty much every clothing rule)
Also a little bummed he's not just a teensy bit taller/shorter. I have a pretty firm 72cm-required-to-live-here requirement for guys and I know a bunch of people were hoping for closer to 68cm.
Oh well. Maybe I'll change my mind about the height requirement, for the right guy

Dang....I like that new body. I just wish they had released it with Enoch, then I would have totally gone for a whole doll and probably another color. I wonder if Crocus solved the problem that the Evol had with balance. And did they use two head sculpts with the Embody? One is Michael posing with Neptune. And the other...? Enoch?

Ahhh! The Embody is PERFECT for my Neptune. I mean, I love the Evol, but the Embody just ticks all the right boxes for me. Looks like my Neptune will be getting a body next year some time.

They announced that they're releasing the body for sale Sept 1 - Sept 3, but not sure if Michael will be released simultaenously.

I watched the video and the body is a work of art, pure genious! I love how it poses so naturally. Now I am broke when they release Michael, unless I win the lottery, I will have to dream that he is not Limited.

Granado usually brings back their heads once in a while, either for certain events or after asking people what they'd like to buy again.
So no worries, he will come back sooner or later


I have to admit the body grows on me, more and more.
He IS bigger than I wanted (shape is perfect, but a little less wide would be nice...), but I get the feeling I could maybe make it work.
I just hope Michael is suuuper ugly, because I am broke too and still waiting for my Enoch head
