Part 9 baby, YEAH!!!

Jaden is mine. I don't care how much he costs. I missed out on Fabio. I said I'd hold out for an Asian dude and here he is!! YEAH BABY YEAH!!! I need a new doll shelf. Srs.

I don't even have a character for this guy. I don't care. I just want him.

 

I know that's only a tiny part of her face but Kaili looks like she could be reeeeeally cute

 

I can't wait to finish my layaway I have with them for my Nuevo body. I just need to find more room on where she will sit when it arrives.

 

Jaden is gorgeous...I have Fabio and Gabe coming, though..waah Crocus why do you make so many pretty boys in a row? Jaden might have to be a head at my house for a while.

Jaden is very pretty. I haven't bought enough from Granado yet this year. Must fix that.

 

Jaden looks much like a smaller V-06. Pretty sure I'm going to need him around here. ^_^

@aernath: About your sewing question: I usually do 2-4 stitches back per hand, then pull both loose ends on one side and do 2-4 knots, then cut the rest off. Never gone loose so far :3

O///O That shirt was self-made? Awesome!
And sewing real pants is a pain in the... butt. Especially since you have to decide first wether or not they'll get pockets and all -.- Cause once the pants are 'done' you can't easily sew on pockets afterwards.
I've only recently gotten pretty well with them. Lots of trial and error. Still often leave out pockets.


Random side comment: The new machine is AWESOME! It can even sew fake leather *droll* Isanity (my middle name) is tempting me to make a suit for Nihlus >3< Maybe next weekend.


@Alewife: Glad you had a laugh. I'm actually now kinda creeped out. Jaden... looks a lot like the solo head that came without blushing. Can't wait to see what it looks like in ns and with and without face-up. Might be an alternative to the planned girl.

@Trethowan: What kind of fabric are you using? And how exactly is your machine eating the clothes? You might have to fiddle with the settings a little. - oh and different needle sizes! That can do wonders. You can't use a thick neelde on thin fabric. It will put thick holes in it, that you'll see afterwards and likely pull the fabric in.

@fishcake: Thanks for the wishes. I didn't get to spend that much time with it yet, but I already sewed an SD sizes apron and a full MSD outfit with it >3< *luvs it*

How is your progress with the carpet going?

 

Snowy, I was trying to make a satin jacket for one of my girls. The corners would just bunch up rather than push on through the feed. It was really frustrating!

 

@Trethowan: Outch. Satin can be quite tricky. I always slow down at corners and if I see an attempt of sewing machine wanting to eat it, I lift the foot and gently tug the fabric to safety. I'd check needle thickness and if it's still pointy. Might have to exchange it.

 

Seconding what Snowy says about changing the needle. Also you can try putting a little piece of tape over the hole in the foot plate where the needle goes through. Some fabrics are just ornery, though.

 

fishcake thank you very much. Yes you're right if it's on a chair, it can sit better. For the moment I'm keeping it on a stand, so the the problem is not relevant. Beside this issue, I have to say that I like the posability of the Maiden body, it's very gracious

(The light was pretty bad just now, but I love what my camera made out of that tan >3< I guess Nihlus spent lots of time in the sun and got himself a darker one? ;P)

Also, he's not the only doll to get himself swim-stuff, but the other one is OT ;P Maybe once I finish the third one (tomorrow probably), I'll take a group shoot - if the weather gets better than this...


@Trethowan: Just remembered: You can use a normal piece of paper as test wether the needle is still doing it's job or not without poking your finger against it. Try seewing over it. If it makes holes without ripping the paper otherwise, it's still good enough and you might simply need a more slender size. If it 'punches' through the paper, it's most likely not pointy enough anymore.

 

Snowy, that swimsuit is beautiful!! And my carpet is almost all up--I just have to pry up the strips around the edge. It's good exercise!

 

Snowy Egad that swimsuit is rad! What material did you make it out of? I love it!

@Buckybear: I had black stretch material left (Only stretches in two directions aka you can pull it appart sideways but not in four - not in lenght) and gave it a try.

Unfortunately I was so excited and over-concentrated while sewing the blue parts on, that I didn't notice a bit of it getting caught, so the blue side parts are slightly... Pulled? They fold a bit on the sides, but since I put a zipper in the back and it really clings tightly to Nihlus' body... Not that much a problem :3


@Alewife: We need more dolli pics in the new thread period :3

Trethowan - I completely understand your frustration now with the pebbly surface of Jim's head! Holy crap! It was as you said, like drawing with chalk over pavement! What a mess. I didn't think it was that bad feeling it, but dragging a pencil over it... wow. Could NOT do a straight, filled-in line to save me. It gives the head a nice skin look, but not good for doing a faceup.

Oh, and thanks for the heads up on 6mo human shirts! That's what Il Woo is wearing here.

fishcake - take care of your fingers! You need them for sewing! I keep thinking of you tearing up carpet and I swear my fingernails cringe in sympathy.

 

Il Woo looks so nice! The baby shirt fits him just fine. I wouldn't have known it was a baby shirt if you hadn't said.

I like pebbly resin for painting, but I can see where it would be a challenge with pencils.

 

@aernath: XD But... But... I wanna see him wear a cravat and all that XD Men neeeeeed suits. Even if they target what remains of my sanity XD

Now that I've seen Jaden's chin, I already know he's not meant for that girl I had in mind. Pity too, but oh well.

I printed some desings on a T-shirt print-on foil for ironing on, to give the T-shirts I make for my kids some more personality and individuality. Unfortunately they turned out too small. Good thing I've got enough of those foils to re-do it. >:3

Also, still looking for a funny text or some sort of pic to put on an apron. Any recommendations? (I don't wanna do the usual 'Kiss the cook' XD)

Ohgoshyes, men neeeeeed suits! : My dream has always been to get a suit for every doll I have. But, my money kept going towards more dolls, and now there's no way I could afford a suit for each! XD

Oh man, sorry about the rough texture for your face-up. I was hoping it was just mine. :-( It was a really frustrating experience to be sure! Maybe they'll fix it for the future heads.

He looks amazing though, really really amazing. I love the natural look you've given him. I'm impressed with that body, too! It looks slimmer than the Titan. Maybe I'll have to save up for one next time they release a Titan sized head. I don't want two bodies of the same build and yours looks fabulous.

I thought I'd post a photo because it's easier to find or recognize a label if you know what it looks like.
The rabbit in question doesn't look too happy about it all either.
Rabbit Skins... 6 months.
Found it in a Kansas kitsch shop in a mall. I'm swapping my duplicate left soom Crow foot for someone else's duplicate right Crow foot, and since they live in Canada, they're going to send a little something Canadian, and I sent a little something Kansas. ^_^
Needless to say, I ended up getting this shirt for myself. Or rather, Il Woo.

Unfortunately, I asked LumeDoll about making Usil again, and I think it was just too much of a headache for her. She's not going to make any more of him or any other dolls that large. So we're back to hoping Granado creates a slimmer Titan body for us. Or hoping one of Granado's resins match the big Leeel boys'. I do intend to eventually get a normal skin Leeel boy. Some day. Leeel tan certainly won't match Granado Sunshine or tan. But maybe white or normal may be closer between the two companies.
Thanks for the kind words on my faceup! I really fail when I try to do more shading and shadowing, or try to do anything using strong colors. I end up with a clown or a raccoon. :P Especially on white or light colored resin. Every little thing shows up. ><

As promised- here's a photo of Fabio (who's name is Daniel). He arrived yesterday but I didn't have the chance to put his head on his body until this evening. Granado faceups are really beautiful. This is the first one I've gotten though I Chaka will have one too whenever he arrives

 

His face is gorgeous! I'm semi regretting not ordering a faceup with my doll but I also hate the idea of a longer wait time~

I totally forgot they were doing the free faceup when I ordered my V-01, Rin! That was quite the pleasant surprise!

Ahh. I supposed I can see that. I didn't feel like it took him too long to arrive. I ordered him on 05/05 and he showed up on 07/08. I tend to only get impatient for the doll once they've shipped. Then I'm refreshing the tracking every hour and acting like a crazy person. Before then, I hardly notice!

BlytheFool Only 2 months? That seems like such a reasonable time. Here I am, still waiting on a DC order from April and knowing it'll probably be a few more months for her

 

I have several of the Rabbit Skins brand, somewhere, though they were newborn. Too small, oh well. HAHA

Daniel is just stunning. I think the Fabio sculpt is so beautiful. Maybe they'll re-release him some time in the future. Perhaps then I'll pick one up.

 

Pssssht. I'm still waiting on a DollZone order from January. January 21st, but still January.

Man! That is so true, BlitheFool! The last days are the worst. Checking tracking. Cursing them for not updating it in a timely manner. Waiting with all the curtains open and the door unlocked, jumping every time a vehicle comes by.

I actually PREFER once it's shipped because I feel like I have more control over it since I can monitor it's movements. Right now I don't know what's happening. For all I know, Granado could be using his head as a basketball :p

@aernath: Yes, I agree. One of the main reasons I decided to just sew myself was, that from the very start I wanted a red shirt (NOT satin) that matched his hair color, so... yeah.

I go witht he flow :3 If it works, it works, if it tortures me, I ... tend to quit (for now) and come back later (for VEGEANCE!).

Hello, it's me again, *waves*

I know that the Male Body "Lads" is still new, but I was wondering if anyone has a both this and a Nuevo male body to compare to (yes I've seen the comparison pic on the website but it's really not a great picture for one, they are both standing at an angle) or is anyone planing to get both?

I like the beefyness of the Nuevo, but not so much the height. (He's a bit too tall for what I have in mind)
and I like the height of the 'Lads' body it's just perfect, but not so much the torso-scuplt.

Granado's got me wishing that there was a body that was a perfect middle between the two.
The 'Lads' height, with 'Nuevo's three part torso, with that nicely muscular sculpt with broad shoulders, long legs and....
Mmpphh. you get the idea.

 

@Elysion gear: As far as I know noone has the Lads body yet, as it takes at least around 30 days after full payment for Granado to ship out. But I'm pretty sure soon one or two persons will have both bodies :3

You got an April Story Julian! I kick myself for not getting Ethan. But I adore him with the faceup in the promo pictures and knew it would kill the love if I couldn't get that faceup. But now, I'm not so sure. I really should have gotten him when I could.

Yup, no Lads bodies in anyone's hands yet, but I think fishcake will have one when they do start arriving in a month or so.
I know it's so frustrating when a doll is so close to perfect, but not quite!

 

Snowy, the blue swimsuit is not too small at all.

The aprons are awesome. Can't wait to see Nihlus wearing them.

Yes. Tbh they were always too expensive for me, but when they had their sale, I snatched Julian pretty much right away. Contemplated getting another one, but decided against it. As for Ethan, maybe you get lucky on the MP? Or you could contact them and ask if they happen to have one left, since you didn't make it for the sale. Worst they can do is say no :3
If it's any comfort, I feel the same way about Fabio, even thought I didn't want any unplanned dolls ^^° Maybe he's getting a second chance...

What's the issue? Do they drop it? If so, if you have some transparent silicone eyeputty, use that one to fix their hold onto the glass - if they can hold it up :3 That's the trick I tend to use if my dollies refuse to hold an item.

@Alewife: Really? I thought it was a 'Why has my glass not yet been refilled?' look, but I guess you do have a point as well :3

Snowy, they were little MSD sized t-shirts and I still haven't made even just one for my boy yet.

Snowy- thanks for the tip on the silicon. That never crossed my mind and it's absolutely brilliant. Gabriel could probably hold a brandy glass well but the champagne flutes just don't like to stay put. I'll try silicon!

Snowy- I am a bit obsessed with tiny elaborate doll suits. I'd like to get some modern ones for them from Sadol but every time I play the 'fill the cart' game it ends up being, like, 500 plus dollars

Also AS just recently replied to an inquiry with something that might interest you => "April Story dolls will be estimated to be released on around August, and Classy Doll normal skin would match with April Story normal skin. Thank you!"

@BlitheFool: No problem -^^- I recommend Mack's silicone ear plugs. Nicely portioned, re-usable and a lot of them for little money in a nice plastic case :3

*patspats* There there... it's all alright. ... And I don't think there is anything wrong spending 500 $ or something on well-made clothes for your kiddos. They hold for years too, so... save it up and go for it! And if you feel it's too much at once, just get one or two for a start and then the next one next time. Also you could get them for special occassions - like x-mas :3
Making them all is a real pain I've realized. And I need to re-do the red shirt, so it fits with the sakko top. Should have thought about that first ^^°
