Oh Lucky XIII they are beautiful.

I'm almost ashamed to add a picture of my new girl on the first page:
the lighting is terrible
the poor girl was so early I was grossly under-prepared:
no clothes her size
no shoes her size (or gender)
no wig her size
no eyes that remotely fitted her
Still I managed to get the eyes I wanted extra quick
so here's a first picture of face-up-less Kaori (Sidonia on Nuevo, large chest):

 

You know what? Kaori is still beautiful!!

 

thanks fishcake, I adore her. I always find it incredible how much a personality can shine through even without a face-up. i really admire the BJD artists who make these amazing sculpts. ♡

And yes, so many of the Granado heads look great blank - Kaori is no exception!

 

One of the large Granado guys is on my wishlist, the posing possibilities seem endless and they have some nice masculine looking heads to go with them.

 

They are fantastic posers, I really like the male bodies! The heads can look a million different ways depending on how you paint them, too.

Soo, I was quiet for the whole thread number 6, but I still have my Granado boy ^^ I had Charles and Davon, but Charles left me, because he couldn't stand the fact that i love Davon more than him :p

So, I named my boy Amiyagi, and I will share one photo (not the best one) and his wig is not his permanent, but anyway, enjoy!

 

You know a sculptor is good at his/her work when the sculpt is beautiful and full of character even blank. This is true for all Granado sculpts.

PrincessR - Kaori is gorgeous even blank and wearing borrowed clothes, absolutely charming. I think Granado is seriously one of the few companies where the sculpt is so nice that it can carry being unpainted. I look forward to seeing your full concept too.

MarkBTink - Ohhh...Which boy is under contemplation?...And yes Granado boys are wonderful posers, solid and smooth flexibility. There is quite a fan club for the Granado boys (and girls) here.
Hamleta - Welcome back! Ohhhh I like your blond Davon. I am enjoying. I can see why Charles felt threatened and had to move on.

Glad no one minds my Hybrid Boys. Tiarnach is sulking at my studio waiting for a reblush and paint for his Nuevo body, and Aiden is here with me at my place but getting little attention because there's nowhere to shoot here. Tiny space. He did, however, go with me to a doll meet locally and get some visible time there, so he shouldn't complain.

I need to get this guy clothes and hands before anyone else comes home! I looked at some Dikadoll hands but it seems like the wrist ball is too large?

 

Clothes are optional, but hands are not! How difficult would it be to sand down the wrist balls?

 

More than I am willing to do...since there are Granado hands theoretically available. I may end up ordering another body, this time with the jointed hands, and swapping people around. Some guys here don't have jobs so they don't need special hands.

OOO got my shipping notice for My Katrien head! I ordered her July 9th so this was pretty quick!

yeren892310 Thank you, yes, that is my Xavier--he's so nice to look at, I haven't made him many clothes yet.

 

He don't need clothes, isn't him? He is just so cute.

 

Soon it will be winter here though, and he will need something If he lived in Bali, he would have enough clothes right now, though he might need a parasol. Perhaps a swimsuit, too.

fishcake - Your Xavier have such a wonderfull hairs, I need to find something similiar but in blond for my Davon. Xavier is lovely. Although I'm hoping to see one day photo of Coppersmith and Captain Aldwood together

And, speaking of sweetnes, not a long time ago I was planning to get my first female doll. But at the end I decided not to buy her. But Amiyagi somehow find out I was planning to get a girl and today he decided to show me that I don't need a female doll, because he can be as much sweet, pretty and feminine as I want. And I must admit, he was right :P

 

Thank you hamleta! His wig is just a Soom wig that I trimmed a little, there is a nice blonde one on the Soom site that Spessar is wearing--I think it is the same wig in blonde. Amiyagi does look sweet and beautiful there; he has such pretty eyes!

Hamleta - Amiyagi is just angelic and very pretty... please do share more of him. And uh, fishcake...you can just take your time getting the clothes together...and post him all you want just as he is. I love seeing his sweet face.

So it looks like Doc's repaint is done. He pretty much looks the same, although the artist is different. I've gotten new Eyeco eyes for him (sorry I forgot who recommended me go with these, someone from the Granado threads...I got some for my other boys and they are amazing!, so thank you!) we'll see if either one I picked will make him look less doe eyed. Although I think what's really happening with him is a total character shift. For some reason he seems to be demanding ruffly collars and wearing white.


Okay...Here's little Sammy, all ready for school. He's not thrilled about it either.

 

Spent the weekend enabling, I mean showing sgtgeorgecarter Trouble Man's lovely body, and finally changed his hands out to the jointed hands. Love the jointed hands! I will take a picture of them soon.

 

got my guy in yesterday. he is such a beauty. im really bummed that he didnt work out for me though!

wovenwuff I love seeing the jointed hands up close--eventually I am getting some! That is such a gorgeous color--very unique and hard to match though for hybrids.

 

Wovenwuff - Sorry to hear that the body/hands didn't work out. Was it for hybridizing or was it a different concept if I may ask?
Fishcake - Haha...I know right...I totally laughed when I put him in the pose (or any pose), I swear Terra has brought me the most pure fun & laughs I've had with my crew. It's that face that gets me. Like a little tiny dog barking at a Rottweiler.

I do hope to see more mini's at some point from Granado cause Terra needs a buddy.

 

The jointed hands are very cool. I am so happy I spent the extra $$$ for them. They are less wide then the regular hands, and look more graceful, IMO.

 

I was going to Hybrid my Switch Rusi onto him ^^ the resin match is not an issue as i found someone that was willing to airbrush my Rusi for me. I just decided that i wanted to keep Rusi's beautiful pale colour so tan wasnt going to work at all. The sunshine is such a wonderful colour (dare i say my favorite tan ever) and parting with those jointed hands won't be an easy thing! but my mind was made up before i even got him in sadly so ....

plans change and they seem to always be changing for me xD Granado is such a nice company but none of their dolls have worked out for me sadly!

My female body didnt work out nor did my incoming sunshine Terra but hopefully they can find some good loving homes

I am also happy about the hands can hold things which are heavy!

That is a pity that Granado can't work for you now, maybe you can find out their future dolls?

Oh, Andrew looks really nice there--I like that wig, and the resin looks almost like skin in those photos. Risou, are you close to when he might be ready to ship to you?
And yes, August is usually a school holiday--it used to be June, July and August so that the kids could help with harvesting summer crops (my grandfather used to bale hay in August and early September), but of course now the kids either go to summer school or sit inside keeping cool.

Agh, my Katrien is so dawdling on the way here..I think she has stopped to chat with every Customs guy and postal worker. 3 days in customs and already sitting around the sorting PO in suburban Chicago for an entire day.

 

I have no idea when they will ship my heads. I hope they can fast.

I have quite a few noob questions (sorry about that) to do with Kaori, my Granado Nuevo Sidonia

first she is my first girl so shoes are proving mind boggling:
flat are shorter than heeled - 2 shoe sizes? how does that work?
with my boy, since his shoes are completely closed, I can get away with shoes quite bigger than his foot... I'm guessing that isn't the same for girly shoes since they tend to be more open, I'm guessing size differences are much more likely to show and look odd... any size guide would be welcome (for information, I am currently eyeing some Impldoll shoes and boots which come in 2 sizes. does anyone know if they're a good fit?)

second... wig size, shocking as it is, I don't have spare wigs so I couldn't go for trial and error - and i can't get my head around wig size Vs 20cm head circumference. I guestimate she is a 8" though (is that corrcorrect?)

and last .... my girl is sooo floppy. I just want to tighten her elastic.
but she feels so delicate though compared to my 73.5cm Loongsoul boy that I'm a little scared.
can anyone reassure me that I'm not going to break her by tightening the leg elastic so the top joint doesn't pop out all the time? that is not "normal", right?

That's it, noobin' over. sorry to ask such basic questions, but she's so special to me, I had rather ask the experts than go for trial and error and risk ruining her.

Granado resin is awesome and not fragile at all! Don't be afraid to play with her.
In regards to stringing, the girls are strung the pain in the but way. The legs are done separately and cross through the pelvis. This is why they dangle and cannot sit tight up to the cup part of the joints in the pelvis. Even with restringing, I was not able to tighten my one nuevo girls legs so that they don't dangle. this is the downside to dolls strung this way (I have another doll strung the same way and have the same problem). You'll just have to get used to it.

I myself tried to mod my girl by drilling holes into the pelvis (I removed the resin hooks inside and put the holes there) so I could put the elastic up through the body to go up to the head and back down like all my other dolls are strung. While she was able to stand after that, she could no longer sit. I ended up modding in a couple other places to get it to work, but still did not have much luck. So she is strung back through her pelvis and then up to the neck. I really can't stand stringing this way but it's the only way I could get her to cooperate.

I'll try and take some pictures for you later (I'm not home right now) to try and show what I did.

PrincessR the inside of the hips on the Nuevo body are complex--here's a guide--read through it before you take anything apart. It might not be completely clear but at least you will know to look closely at the stringing if you take it apart:

And yes, the regular feet are teeny

I just got my Katrien (yay!) and she is more of a 9 than an 8, but a stretchy 8-9 should fit!

And Risou, she was pretty quick--I ordered her in July and with a faceup, and with the Hong Kong show I expected it might be longer! I'm glad I got a faceup on her--no way could I have painted those delicate eyebrows.
