My Pancho is on his way! He shipped out on the 23rd, and apparently hasn't moved since?? Any tips on tracking packages from China? Most of my dolls have come from South Korea.

Zardi sometimes you will get nothing and then BAM they are on your doorstep! I usually look at both the USPS tracking and the China EMS tracking because sometimes one will know more than the other. I bet he's close to you already! and congratulations!

Have you guys seen the teaser for what's supposed to be the successor of the Nuevo bodies?



I'm not going to lie, I'm a little upset that they're announcing this now. I just bought my Jaden in Bronze and as some of you might have noticed, was having trouble finding a body because of resin matching and size.

Now if I want this body (which I probably will), I will need to pay the additional +$90 to get it in bronze, when if they had just waited to re-release the heads in conjunction with this new body, I'd be able to buy them together and just pay the additional cost to get bronze resin once.

Yeah, sorry, I just had to rant because I find this rather frustrating.

AlekInexelsis that is the story of my dollie life. Doll companies know how to mess with our plans! I will have to go see if they have more pix on the facebook, too. It's possible that the sale of the special heads is going to fund the resin run for the new bodies, so they couldn't release them at the same time..but who knows?

That new body does bring the beef

 

I've had the page for that head saved for awhile now. I finally gave in and bought it. I figured that I would use it to mod for Rinzer's demonfied look. That way if it turns out horrible, I won't have ruined my guy.

 

I am very excited to see what this new body is going to look like! I do wonder if it will fit my Jaden head?

Now I really need to wait for Katrien AND that body. Because I totally need to find out if the NS matches with a head I've got rolling around. - If the Evol boy has the right height. This character is actually supposed to be taller than most of my crew so I dare venture towards 68 cm in this special case.

 

YES! I was right to hold back. When they discontinued the older bodies....I was thinking...hmmm...maybe new body? I just hope this one is at least 70cm and that the older heads can fit. Coz my Uranus needs a body.

I like how Granado mentioned that they have thought of something for customers who purchased only a head in a special color, like AlekInexelsis, and would now purchase the new body for that head, so they don't need to pay the additional fee for special colors again :3

I still would hope for a slim 70cm one (like Dollshe, just a bit less slim), because then we'd have a good trio of three different types that could work for a lot of different bodies.

The Evol looks so far very promising though

I'm crossing my fingers the pecs look as nice as the Nuevo ones, hehehe. I'm not usually that particular about such things but for the character I have for my Jaden, it's a weird priority of mine. XD

 

Oh my, saw that teaser on their Facebook page and oh la la I really like the nuevo body but feels it's a tad bit too short for my current preferences, so if this one is beefy like the nuevo but slightly taller... I think I'll have to start saving up for it immediately xD

I also saw that they had plans for customers in your situation, AlekInexelsis, which I think is terrific customer service! I really like when the companies listen to their customers OuO

Also, speaking of customer service, I have to say that Granados ordering page is the best one I've used so far, even better than Dollshes which I thought was the best up to this point xD So simple, and it felt so safe using it - one step at a time and easy to follow instructions. I hope more BJD companies look into it and update their order sheets!

I love the look so far of the new body. I'd be interested to see how this one turns out (especially because I feel an Andrew would suit one of my characters really nicely ). I am constantly surprised my Granado, their sculpts really do grow on you.
Also, a quick update on my Mads' face up progress - the scar is the only thing I have left to do now. I've never done a glue scar before so this is make or break time. I'll have photos of the final result tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Thank you both for the suggestions! I do typically use both track trace and USPS, but I usually get more detail with Korean packages so I thought something was wrong. Sure enough, he landed in San Francisco this morning. I can't wait to stalk him across the country

The Evol body is extremely muscular. Crocus said it's around 70cm.

 

I'm looking forward to see "Evol". He is very muscular from what I have seen.
It reminds me a lot of "Titan" body.

 

Wow, I'm really glad I got the Nuevo now! Yet another 70cm guy ... maybe it's because I have no use for them, but I feel there are plenty of 70-72cm guys ... and lots of 65 and shorter who are usually less mature, but next to nothing in-between. Oh well, I got my Nuevo and I'll get a Lads, and I guess then it's back to body hunting.

 

The Evol looks like a badass. Can't wait to find out about his measurements. But I really like what I see and in desperate need of bodies. Meanwhile…here's a little Madeline spam. Lazy as usual….

 

... Well...... I Really want Katrien asap now. I need to know if the ns works for the head. I only wanted to go up to 68, but honestly, if the resin matches somehwat, I'll go for the Evol body >3< I've been looking for a built body like that for the character I want.

Also, I'm sure there will be shorter bodies in the future as well.

The Evol body looks very cool so far - the new teaser Crocus put up on Facebook is making me more excited for its release. Not that I'll be able to afford another doll this year. I'll hopefully get an Andrew head on it next year.

Meanwhile...the face up is complete! *laughs like a mad scientist*

Aaah, he's gorgeous, Quiet and Insane ;____; Now I feel the wait for my Mads is getting really difficult xD The wig looks great on him as well.

As for the new body I'm reeaaaaaaaaaaaaally looking forward now to see the whole package OuO Personally, I feel there's a lot of slim, muscular 70cm guys out there, but if you want a real muscular package you have to look to companies like Iplehouse (whose body is the reason I haven't ordered my grail from them, can't stand it) or you have to settle for 65 cm guys. A real hunk of muscular 70 cm is right up my alley OuO This is so exciting!

New thread AND a new Granado body?! How exciting! I've been hoping to buy Daniel (my Fabio hybrid) and new body. This might just be the ticket! The Nuevo was beautiful but too short for him.

I'm happy the new body is tall--my guys keep getting bigger, or the heads I buy get bigger, or something. It does make sewing easier

 

I'm loving the new body. It will be perfect for Rinzer's other best friend Balthier! If I get him, the Troublesome Trio (or I should say foursome since Vee is with them) will be here. Good thing Jade is around to keep them in line.

indigoparaflax…I agree about the big beefy body options being limited..as in the guy could have been warrior back in the day. I mean on the beefy-beef train what's really out there…Iple, Dollshe, Titan I put in a different class all together.

Needless to say my efforts to stay away from bigger dolls has been a complete fail this year. I'm curious if there'll be a new head to go along with him. I bet Charles, Mads, Andrew and Uranus would look beastly on this body.

 

WoW, one goes away for a weekend, and *boom* suddenly new thread, new body, and some pokes! (really, I appreciate it, I'm always afraid of posting too many pics ><).

But damn, that Evol body does look good so far! I hope the name also indicates some evolution in posing, which would mean that my Andrew head no longer has to search for his ideal body (he needs to be around 70cm, and a muscular hunk of a guy).

I ordered a Venus head today - I just love her features. This will be my first doll from this company, so I'm enjoying seeing photos of everyone's beautiful dolls!

 

I hope if this guy is nearly 70cm, that they also eventually make a body in the 63-65 range... I know a lot of people don't do 70cm dolls, they are kinda huge. A lot of other people also like Granado bodies for hybrids, and 70 is a bit too big for many dolls. It would, however, be amazing for the larger heads like Minimees or Simply Divine doll heads.

I used water-based craft glue for the scar [MENTION=16841]fishcake[/MENTION] and [MENTION=13225]Smaug[/MENTION]. I traced the shape of the scar in watercolour pencil first then layered on the glue in three steps. It took a little while, but waiting for each layer to dry was a good way to gauge if it needed a little more or not. I'm not 100% happy with the scar though, I think next time, rather than drawing it in pencil, I'll use pastel to make it blend in a little better. But still, I'm impressed my little expriment worked as well as it did. Now to finish paying off his body...
By the way, Silverfox and Josiah are so gorgeous Smaug!

Oh he's always wanting new test subjects [MENTION=63054]mdonline03[/MENTION]...he's really not the nicest guy. He'll be civil enough out in daylight, but at night watch out! I guess he was inspired by a combination of Mary Shelley, Lovecraft, and Jack the Ripper. So you can see where I'll be going with that. I agree, Andrew would look awesome on the Evol body (hello, future addition!)

Congratulations [MENTION=15085]quicklikebunnies[/MENTION]! Venus is very pretty. I think you'll really like Granado's resin, I was very impressed with its quality when my Mads head arrived.

 

Quiet and Insane, a little tip for the next scar:
first layer the glue and then paint.
I usually do it like that:
- seal head
- apply glue, shape it like wanted, let it dry
- add a bit of pastels in the same shade of the skintone to the scar
- erase it on top of the scar itself with a tiny piece of magic eraser, so you just have a bit around the borders for blending it in better
- seal it
- take a darker shade and a more blocky shaped brush and dip it at the borders of the scar, highlighting the outer form that way while the actual scar tissue still remains lighter
- seal again
- take two, three spots where you make the shade even darker
- seal again
- optional step: take a very thin brush, dilute some of the darker shade and very thinly paint some spots of the border and make the ends of the scar a bit longer

You can also add some satin gloss and faintly gloss the lightest spots to achieve a different look for the scar tissue than for the "normal" skin.
If you are not making a fresh cut or a badly healed/still fresh scar painting the area underneath the scar is something you should avoid.
Generally, it's better to paint after making the scar because that way you have still the option to fix things
That's how I did this scar for example.

The body is beautiful but I fear that all his clothes wouldn't fit anymore, and sadly they are all custom made ;_;

Gaah. If this body had been ready to release, I could have gotten Mads on it.
Oh well, saved the money for whatever is on the horizon.
Evo looks good but I kinda liked Nuevo's chest better. Maybe it will look fuller at different angles.
at least with Granado, we know the products are completed and ready to manufacture before they get released for sale so orders always get done in a good time sans waiting too long.

(think of the angel-thing in Hellboy with his skin textures). I did do something doll related this weekend (besides cleaning the house and blowing my nose), I made a wig (another one) for Captain Aldwood because his default either hides his eyes or needs little girly clips. He still needs a formal white one.



And he does have a stack of clothes now, he's just seldom in them

I just realized I made a major mistake skipping out Uranus. Uranus + that Evol body would make a way better shell than the DZ Cosmo head plus the body I originally considered, for the character I'm still missing *major sigh*
I hope they might do a summer event heads or something, or maybe I'm lucky on the MP ...

Anyone else convinced that the Evol body will be avaible at the body sale at the beginning of July? :3

I'm with you. Evol (is that Love backwards?) is gorgeous, but bigger than I want to go. I really liked the 65cm guy. I hope to see a lot of Evols in this thread though, so I can admire him vicariously.

I said this on facebook and I'll say it here. The Evol is an absolute work of art. The back sculpt is gorgeous. I think the overall side/front view looks quite promising as well. I can't wait to see the whole thing!! Looks like I'm getting a new body for Christmas Weee!

Quick question folks…my Madeline is a couple years old now…do any of you have the new normal from several batches? Just wondering how consistent the colour has been. I'm eyeing maybe the Lads for a floating head I'm expecting soonish.

 

They are heeeeere

The color is absolutely wonderful, and I'm sad that it isn't a regular one.
I'm also very happy with the 68cm body, except for the hands and...well, the calves.
I knew you guys said the body has total killer calves but I'm still a bit shocked.
He doesn't fit into any of his pants anymore, which sucks because they are both part of his main uniform, and I can't completely zip up the boots anymore.

I will probably sand the calves a bit smaller, even though they are 100% in character they are just too much of a hassle and two of his pants are just too important for his whole look that I can simply shrug it off.
I'm glad that Granado's brown skintones are pretty much sandable, I just have no clue how much in the end I will have to take off x_x

Another update follows later, with pictures, I'm still taking them and trying to dress him up >_>'

 

mdonline03 it's been a pretty consistent Normal Pink. The white has gotten a bit pinky in a couple of batches, but the NS/NP has been even all along.

Ara* yes those Calves are Mighty. I took to putting elastic in slits on pants and cheating with boots (shooting from the front, putting a bit of fabric, dark socks and leaving them unzipped. I actually love them so much I don't mind the extra work--they look fabulous in 18th century stockings

 

Fishcake, he's gladly mostly wearing boots but at least with his combat pants (these half leather/half fabric camouflage ones from Souldoll) modifying them sadly won't work.
They actually have a zipper down there in case you need the extra space and they still don't fit.
He definitely did NOT skip leg day

We already measured the difference between old and new body and I will definitely sand them a bit to give him extra space.
I love the legs, they are so damn in-character, but these two pants are very important too...not to mention that it would make things in future easier for both of us.

Anyway, still super pleased with him, he's way more himself now than before.

 

fishcake - Ooh, neat! I really like his wig. Also clothing is overrated.

BlitheFool - Likewise. I attempted a wig once...it was not quite what I expected. I think I'll stick to improving my face ups for now. XD

Snowy - Thank you! It was supposed to just be stubble...but he demanded a beard. His eyebrows (unintentionally) look like mine. :P

Alewife - Depraved is the perfect way to describe him. I picked those eyes up second hand just on a whim and I am totally in love with they way they catch the light and appear to glow! (I'm such a sucker from the colour green, it's tragic).

mdonline03 - If I do end up getting Andrew on the Evol body, then he'll become a character from an entirely different story. But I suppose I could do a crossover once in a while. Sinister characters are quite interesting to write. I've been having a lot of fun playing around with what he could do.

Ara* - Ooh that's exciting! I look forward to seeing photos.
