CHARACTER: Florie comes from a family of empoverished faeries and is initially daunted by the richness of her husband's court. But lively and undertaking as she is, she quickly makes it her home and adds her own touch. She is a practical and, as it turns out, very capable woman who basically ends up ruling her husband's lands when he is off adventuring or fighting for his king.
Florie and Gawain are deeply in love with each other. They have two sons together.
HISTORY: Florie is the daughter of the Karl of Carlisle. Her father doted on her so much that he wanted to keep his daughter with him forever. Morgana the Fay placed a curse on him that turned him into a fearsome giant. The spell would only be broken if the Karl gave up that which was dearest to him to another man. When he eventually allows Florie to marry Sir Gawain, King Arthur's nephew, the curse is removed.

CHARACTER: Sara is a reclusive town healer in an Early Modern fantasy world I created. Although genuinely warm and kindhearted, she does not have many friends because she is rumoured to be a witch.
HISTORY: Sara's father was a radical revolutionary, her mother a feminist who died shortly after childbirth. Her father encouraged his daughter (and only child) to read and think for herself from a young age, in marked contrast to the way girls were generally raised in his society. Sara spent some of her childhood in a neighbouring country to where she was born, in a much more progressive and liberal society where the arts flourished during a mini renaissance. She attended university in her native country, but during her final undergraduate year, she was forced to leave because women were no longer allowed to obtain university degrees -- the unfortunate ruling of an ultra right wing fascist regime that had taken power. She wished to leave the country but realised that she had a purpose to fulfil in her homeland. During a revolution that deposed the monarchy, Sara rescued Mariah, the king's only daughter, raising her as her own child. She continued life as a healer and friend to outcasts, showing kindness where it was needed and protecting those she cares about.
