Alewife They look so wonderful; such glorious clothes..I am trying to sew, but work keeps interfering! And I need to add my Maiden Body to the waiting room, just haven't gotten over there yet. I did find some bigger hands for Teodor, my Mads--since he was a stevedore before he picked up the arcane arts I figured he needed big, competent hands. It's an undignified photo since I just took it for reference and he's still in someone else's underpants.



Those are Super Senior Delf hands and the resin is about perfect, though the wrist ball is a tiny bit too large.

 

Oooh, Fishcake, I loooove those hands! I'm such a sucker for hand sculpts anyhow. That's an excellent resin match.

 

I was so surprised..I have had those hands literally for years and just found them yesterday in the body parts box. Even with the wrist ball being a little large, they pose really well on the arms.

 

Nice! That was lucky. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a box full of random doll parts. Heh heh.

 

Even if it's just to weird out one's relatives, it's a lot of fun.

 

A friend calls her parts box the "Ed Gein box".

fishcake, the hands are a great size for his face. I love the photo. It looks like he just woke up and is having his first cup of coffee.

EDIT: I forgot to say, my couple are wearing outfits by Stacy's Pink Ocean. His are SD17 and hers are SD16 size. Not a perfect fit, but not bad!

 

Alewife, that is nice to know! I love the SPO stuff but I wasn't sure of the fit on Granado dolls!

I am dying to do something with the dollies, but work is so crazy that I basically try to sleep as much as I can when I'm home, to the detriment of just about everything else -_-. But I drop in for picspam! More please!

fishcake, love those hands for Mads! Senior Delf hands are gorgeous. Are they sold separately? And do they attach the normal way? (Even as a great amateur of hands, I think it a BIT much to get a whole body just for the hands ;P...)

 

Sigune the hands are just regular hook hands--I got them from the Den of Angels MP in 2010, ( I often go through it looking for loose hands and feet). I haven't checked at Luts but I know they sell option hands for many of the dolls. IMO you can never have too many hands.

I was feeling a bit badly about Gabe still not having a faceup so I took some, er, dramatic lighting photos of him this evening. They're a little over exposed. I'm not much of a photographer!

 

That is such a clever way to give Gabriel a face--your brain fills in the details! I swear my dolls are looking over my shoulder saying "Why don't we have clothes that nice?" Even his buttons are to scale!

 

Thanks! Dollheart clothes are pretty awesome. I'm a bit obsessed with fancy boy clothes. Gabriel really should be wearing purple as it's sort of his signature. But brown works for now!

 

I am soooooo worn out from work - I can't even comment properly on all the updates but this is how I feel inside looking at all the Valentines inspired pic spam

 

I really like the photo, the way the exposure works with the shadows and lighting is really cool. It gives his face a great deal of depth and shading. Who needs a face up now, eh?



In other dollieh news... I'm getting the shipping notice jitters. I'm SO CLOSE to my 90 days for my Nico. So close!!! *squee*

Ooh. Another Nico! It's great seeing these boys start to roll in. I'm very curious how owners are going to dress and paint him. I really love his face.

I wonder why the option is only the nuevo body, and not the maiden one, I'm not sure if the head fits the maiden body? Confusing, since I think the head on the maiden body is V-04?

Yeah this is so weird! I also see that they didn't put on Maiden body option on other dolls page like Anne or Sidonia...
I am guessing they may not release Maiden body to the old head. or maybe you can just order Maiden body alone. That is so weird.

 

Gabriel Vine. Part time motorcycle mechanic, part time vampire killer. He's upgraded from stakes to boomstick, but that's just if he doesn't talk them to death. haha

Trethowan Gabriel is a Boyd, isn't he? I think Adalwolf would be so happy to find a "boomstick" like Gabriel's; she has been looking around for more weapons for her people. I'm just looking for a paper mache' cannon And I need to finish Coppersmith's outfit, though I got sidetracked with work and painting a background for him.



Still pretty rough. You can vaguely see Jack chasing a chicken in the back...the chicken is just a blob. I'm sure Coppersmith would rather have clothes.

 

Yeppers, he's a Boyd. As for the props, you can find 9 different styles of long guns by searching for Gibson brand novelty BBQ lighters. They run about 12 bucks each. I bought mine through "The Man Cave," a seller on Amazon. They're also available on Ebay. There is a seller on Ebay that has a buy 5 get one free deal, but I felt his shipping was too much to make a free $12 item worth anything. The Man Cave offered decent shipping prices too so I went with them. Some folks are saying they see these at gas stations. Of the 9 styles, the price ranges vary between $10 and $17.99. I've seen some posted for $22 but that's just ridiculous. There are two different kinds of shotguns, AK-47, bolt action rifle, an M-16, and a few others. They're supposedly collector's items so I imagine once they're gone, they'll be gone. Don't know how long they've been on the market though, so it's hard to say. I thought about writing to Gibson and asking them to make more varieties for doll collectors. hehe


Lastly, that is a gorgeous painting.

Thank you Risou! Well, sort of an artist--I do covers for rubbish romance novels and low-budget SF novels. I can paint a pretty good monster or outer space scene

Oh, and thank you too Blithe Fool! For some reason I just opened up the last page and missed your and Trethowan's comments...the lighters sound perfect, I should copy and paste Trethowan's info and sent a PM to Adalwolf.

Covers: It's ...sometimes.. a fun gig--I like working with the authors, for some reason they are really interesting and fun people. The art directors are all good too--I sometimes have trouble with the Corporate Overlords and the people who are actually supposed to pay me, and that is not fun. They are also the ones that sometimes override the art director's good sense and want derpy things on the covers. Since I do genre covers the art direction is often very funny. Usually it's either more boobs, or bigger type.

Risou the joke is that it would be "A great business if it weren't for the clients" I do enjoy it, just not the paperwork and filing taxes and bothering the Accounts Payable people for my money. That is when I wish that I worked for just one company all the time and they would take care of all that stuff.

Completely unrelated, I found out last night that the male Granado heel feet fit my Soom girls perfectly I have misplaced some ankle balls-- and this way my girl can at least stand up!

I'm currently so silent in the forums, work is eating my time, but I wanted to share my Mads that arrived...last week? Week before?
My bronze Andrew head is still being prepared, but Islanddoll already told me they will make a custom body for him.

He's still such a big WIP, especially after the seamstress I wanted for his outfit is as talkative as a stone.
I wanted Amadiz to make his outfit but she doesn't have a Nuevo body and never answered my questions. Hrmpf.
Not to mention the wig, weapons, outfit...oh, and I need to save for his own Nuevo body XD



I just think I need to open up his eyes a bit, they are so small DX

The leather jacket is from Dollheart, I got it in a Fuku last year.

Heeee...well, he will actually be a fan character of some sorts.
I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear Solid and my girlfriend owns one of the characters in doll form since 2009, and I told her years ago that as soon as I finish our big project I'd get him a partner.
So in the end I hope he will look like Revolver Ocelot, going for his MGSV look.
It will also satisfy my burning need for a Cowboy-esque guy in the group

I actually never wanted to have a doll that is based on someone elses character, but in his case I couldn't resist.
And I'm glad Mr. Kojima doesn't mind things like that, else I wouldn't have tackled this project.

And a picture to celebrate Mads fantastic lips, I could stare at them for hours.

 

I understand now. In fact I always want to hit my boss. I work in a small company and there are non-stop paperwork everyday, I hate my work but I love money.
Anyway this is a bit out of topic

Islanddoll will make a custom body for Andrew? Sounds great! I don't even know Granado has a cooperation with them!

Not doll sized, but you can cheat and use the layout drawings to make doll size patterns
He is going to be so cool! The wig is harder..there is a similar one here but it has curls and it seems to only come in blonde if you need a light color, and that is the Monique Taylor.
I see why you want to commission a custom wig!

Risou, does Islandoll make super tall bodies? Some of the Granado boy heads are big...

Risou, noooo, nooo, you misunderstood me
I asked them if they'd be willing to make me their Norse body in a custom color, namely Granado's bronze.
They told me it's possible, I just need to pay an additional fee and of course send them a part to match the body too.
I'm sure I will have to mod the neck a bit, but the Andrew head itself is already pretty big and the character needs to be the biggest one in my crew.

fishcake, I sadly can't sew...like...at all ;-;
And I'm really picky with the quality of my doll's clothes so finding a good seamstress is pretty difficult, especially because most of the good ones only sew for dolls they have available.
Which I understand, since it guarantees a perfect fit and it makes sewing easier, but it definitely doesn't make it easier for me XD
Oh, also not every seamstress actually does cosplays (they only do own designs) and on top of that not everyone is capable of sewing leather and especially leather gloves.
The outfit itself does seem simple, but he has a lot of parts that can only be made by someone who's skilled enough.
The wig will most likely be made by eclipse21 for me, she already made a similiar one (just shorter) for a friend and I was pretty amazed by it...now she just needs to open slots again :I
I'm glad I have all the time of the world with this guy, because he proofs to be as difficult as the guy he's based on.

 

Ara he will be quite a project, with so many pieces! Eclipse makes beautiful wigs, that should be perfect for him.
I want to try making leather gloves myself-- but I think they will look like the cat sewed them when I am done

Mads continues to be a beautiful sculpt, especially blank! Just such a wonderful face. I hope I can snag one eventually. But I finally managed to get a lay away started for a Nico head in sunshine (with faceup, suit, and handgun set). I'll work on getting his massive body later.
