now I've lost track of stuff, so have a general THANK YOU for the crossed fingers for my kitty! He seems to be doing better and I might be able to take him home tomorrow. *does teh happy dance*

BTT ... how often does Granado re-release sculpts? I can't afford a full Neptune right now, but the Evol body doesn't look as exaggerated in owner pics (and clothes!) as I had feared I might want to wait for Neptune-Evol owner pics before I decide, rather than buy a head now, wait for pics, then have them custom-match the head's colour for the body heaven knows how many months later ...

 

Jany - Didn't he do a major head release for Xmas and New Years last year? Hopefully he does that again. I would very much like a Venus head. And yeah....the Evol body looks muscular but the shoulders are about 2 cm smaller than all the other beafy dudes. The chest area is about the same. I'm comparing with Iple EID, ID72, and Impl Idol.

 

Perfect! Those three are my model "too large" examples ^^° Those comparison pics with Evol and EID were extremely helpful, he is proportioned in a way that makes him work with the shorter dudes without one looking out of scale
I'd still wish for a slightly-less-ripped version because I just don't have an OC like that ... but as long as he keeps his clothes on he should work nicely.

 

Why on Earth would you want the clothes to stay on with sculpting like that?

 

valid question Usually I wouldn't, but my OCs just aren't that hot.

Thanks for finding that. I was going to try and do that tonight but had forgotten. Just added my pics there. Once my Pluto arrives, I'll do a body comparison since I'll have all but the Lads and Titan to compare

Also, I just finished restringing Vee. He is no longer a floppy noodle but he seems content hanging on my desk naked. Crazy guy, it's cold in here!

It has been a while, but I am seriously tempted by Neptune. I'm thinking of getting him head-only - the Evol body is gorgeous but I fear it is too large for me. I was telling myself I could get the head and one of those bust things... He looks very much like my idea of a young King Arthur, and his nose is gorgeous! (I have a thing for noses, don't mind me...)

 

It IS a great nose! One of my favorite features as well!
After seeing Walter's photo of the Evol body next to the Nuevo, I am afraid the Evol is actually too small for me. Crazy, I know, but there ya go. Makes me really wish I had my Mars in hand so I could tell for sure whether this new body is for me or not.

Although I should not have, I did order Neptune's head...I really wanted the whole body, but I have been paying various car and doc bills this month instead. I switched to a new doctor's office and somehow in the database they noted my primary language was "Norwegian", which amused me. I'm glad they didn't hire a translator for my visit.

Couldn't resist, so i ordered a head to share the existing body. really don't have space (or funds) for another body otherwise would love him in tan.

 

I'm getting him! In the tan with the beard face up because I love it. On layaway though.

 

I ordered Neptune's head. Charles too. Both blank. And DZ's new broad-shouldered 70cm body for one of them. I have a lot of big guys but they are all on what I would call basketball/swimmer bodies (Spiritdoll, SSDF, the old Granado body, etc.). I just can't quite get past the excessive muscle definition in the evol body, particularly in the back. Tho I do think it looks pretty spectacular on Mars. Hopefully he'll come up again sometime next year because I'd love to add him to my collection.

 

I must say if Mars comes up again, I'll be first in line. He has an amiable face which I find appealing.

 

Neptune is my kind of guy, but not this year. I'm still working on heads & bodies from the past.
I'm sort of ....kind of...on the right track with Fogi who needs some serious facial work, but at least the two lovers are finally together!

@petiteballerine, I do like Neptune, but I don't sell my dolls which means I need to be 100% happy with him. I wish there was the choice between a sad Neptune and a pre-pancho-discovery happy Neptune.

Also...I ordered Neptune's head in tan...plus clothing. The exchange rate is really, really terrible right now. Just this has already cost me more than I've paid previously for a full doll. I wish the rate would get better...because otherwise neither Andrew nor Neptune will ever get bodies... They'll be forever doomed as floating heads.

 

I just left a message on the Granado FB page, but for those of you who have Evol boys home, are they wearing 9/10 wigs?

 

I just tested my Pluto (who's going to be bald I think) - 8/9 fits with one of those silicone cap thingy, the 9/10 I have is too big

 

@Lilla - I can be 100% sure, then the doll arrives. depending on how long the wait was, I might still be in love. then sometimes I think "no way!" but then paint him/her and fall madly in love again.
that shirt is cool, isn't it? I made quite a few years ago, then ran out of fabric before I remembered I wanted one too. this one came from Alice's Collection. (I think)

I'm waiting until the end of the buying period, then I'll see if I can squeeze the new guy in. I went ahead and got the new SoulDoll boy instead on their long six payment lay away. So I may just end up getting the outfit if I can.

I definitely hope to see lots of photos of all the Neptunes when they arrive!

 

I do love Neptune's default face up...I might see if I can re-create it myself when he gets here. Not that it will do much good until he gets a body.

 

@Risou - Congrats on your shipping notice! I can't wait to see your boy. Also, congrats to all the folks who are scooping up a Neptune. He's really gorgeous.

 

I snagged a Jaden head and put him together a few days ago. I am beyond pleased with the distinctively Asian features; I've long wanted to add an Asian guy to my collection. I was actually a bit (pleasantly) surprised; the Granado faceup camouflages the Asian features a bit, so I didn't see his true self until I finished his face. He's on a Spiritdoll Proud body right now. I am definitely hooked on these guys!

@AnitaS - oh, I like Jaden a lot. I have quite an Asian community here in my doll family. Your man entices me to add him to my list!

 

I always thought of Jaden as a smaller version of V-06, who is definitely Asian to me. So much so, I had to get two V-06 heads.
Congratulations on a great purchase and a sweet faceup that looks great on him! More photos! ^__^

 

I'd love to see more of Jaden. He's one I regret not getting at least his head. More pics please!

And I'm super happy to see that Spiritdoll looks like a good match because I've got plans to get my Jaden a Spirit proud (girl) body

 

Jaden is a really good match for Spiritdoll (tho note that body is 2-3 years old). I didn't even do any blushing to match. Spiritdoll's NS is yellow-toned but pale. Spiritdoll bodies are great posers too. This is one of the newer ones that has joints that click into position. I do have a Jaden question, with apologies upfront for my ignorance: What ethnicity would you say Jaden is? Chinese (and within that, North or South), Korean or Japanese? I can't be sure and Granado just calls him Asian. I'm inclined to rule out Japanese but that's as far as I got.

I just made my last payment on my Pluto! Now I get to try and guess when he'll arrive since I never know with companies if they actually do wait until last payment or not. So I could see him soon, or I could see him in Jan/Feb.

In other news, I ordered some eyes from Souldoll and they arrived today. These ones I hope will work for Hunter.

 

Those eyes look nice! Hopefully you will get your guy soon! My experience has been hit and miss. Sometimes I finish the lay away early, and still have no more than a three month wait, and other times, I have to wait a couple extra months beyond finishing the lay away on time. So anyone's guess is as good as mine!

Those are pretty eyes, Lucky! Congrats on finishing your layaway! My experience with layaway and Granado has been similar to Aernath's. Sometimes it seems like they're just waiting for you to finish paying so they can mail the doll and other times...not so much. I'd imagine it depends on how many orders they've got to fill.

 

My status for him was changed to 'Preparing'. He is full set so I guess even if he is cast and ready to go, the outfit may not be. We'll see. I have no idea where he's going to go when he gets here. My doll shelves are full! Oops. I blame Granado for their amazing dolls

 

Hahaha! Yes, the Granado space on my shelves is taking over as well! lol

 

Well...this is one doll who prefers lurking under desks than sitting on shelves...

@aernath - Thank you! I just sort of propped him up under there while I fiddled around with some things were he normally stands (in front of my bookshelf), I turned around and was caught by the glint of light in his eyes. It's a pity the photo's so grainy, you can only just make out the glow. XD

@Alewife - Indeed, who knows what he might be plotting when left alone in dark corners!

@petiteballerine - In Iwan's case it would be text subjects or scientific papers. I ADORE Granado's jointed hands. I sincerely hope Crocus creates a version for use with the Evol body because I would buy it in a heartbeat.

 

My Mars arrived, and he's lovely, but I have to say he is in a much smaller scale than I expected. His head is TINY, and his body looks small next to many of my shorter dolls, despite his height.

 

I'd love to see some comparison shots. If that Evol body actually looks smaller in real life, I might be more interested in it. . . It looks so bulky in the Granado photos.

 

He does, doesn't he? I realized it when I saw someone's photo.... Walter's? That compared him to EID. I thought for some reason that he would be bigger than the EIDs.
It's nice, but not what I mentally expected. Makes it easier for me to have to pass on Neptune. He's amazing looking in the photos, but having Mars in hand, I'm thinking he's a bit smallish for me.

aernath-- what skin tone is he? (I swear, I totally suck at figuring out what skin tone is which!)

 

He's Bronze. And you're not alone! They seem to have recently changed up the resin colors, so it IS confusing and difficult to know which color is which.

 

He looks good in Bronze! I couldn't tell if he was tan or sunshine or bronze, although I should have guessed bronze since that was a popular color for him. He looks a lot lighter in your photo, but is he that light in real life? Is sunshine (all the huge varieties of that color) a lot lighter? Or fairly close?

(I'm trying to think of what I might like for a Neptune... of course, I'm still trying hard to resist ordering him! Maybe he will go off sale before I realize and I will be safe??? Or I might be so confused about skin tone that I will not be able to decide before he goes off sale...!!!)

 

The old sunshine that I'm used to is a lot lighter, but this sunshine my Uranus came in is quite a bit closer though still noticeably lighter.
Personally, I'd get Neptune in Tan. I've avoided that color over the years because it looks a bit ashen to me, but this new Tan looks more vibrant somehow. Maybe it's the blushing. But he really looks yummy in the site photos! And he's in Tan for those.

Oooh, love your Ghost! I was sorely tempted by Uranus. I tend to think the tan looks a bit ashy, also. I have an Iplehouse in Realskin, which is similar, and I do wish he were a little more red. He looks sort of pale, for being so tan... almost like you'd think of with someone Olive-skinned, but not really... Anyway, it's a bit of an odd color, I think. Iplehouse Light Brown looks great in photos and is a nice deep tan, but sometimes I think it's too dark. Heh. I don't know why I'm obsessing, since I really, really shouldn't think of getting a new boy!!! --and really, all the skin tones are great.
