Dollshe Discussion - Part Seventeen

Jan 25, 2022

    1. @Cloudedmind - i love this shot... the lighting, the couch, his coat, all the textures :mwah - chef's kiss: (we need that emoji LOL)
      he's beautiful

    2. Thanks, yes! I really love those coats, especially how the black one shines in the light.

    3. Wow, he's stunning @Cloudedmind! :D His wig is beautiful. Such a lovely pop of colour!

    4. @Cloudedmind - He's just lovely! I've always admired the Rosen head sculpt.

    5. @Cloudedmind - thank you for sharing such a great picture of your gorgeous boy :D With Dollshe's ongoing wait times and other shenanigans, a beautiful picture is a welcomed break from the uncertainty/anxiety/frustration usually haunting this thread. Thanks for reminding me why I was excited to order one of his dolls in the first place :thumbup

    6. Thanks! The wig is from Crobidoll and I love it. I've also got one in black. But it can be a pain to take care of to keep the curls from snagging on the stuff I use to keep wigs from sliding around.

      Me to, I just hate his faceplate system. If Dollshe ever redid him with a headcap, that might be the only thing that got me to order directly from him again.

      Yes, we need more pictures in this thread! Come on everybody. :D

    7. Here's my new Amanda Beauty in pale from BJDivas in stock. 26F body with full bust.

    10. @Iron_Dog , @Cloudedmind , and @earth.spirits thank you! I wasn’t sure I could make her look Asian but it worked! She is so versatile! Her name is Nabi. Butterfly in Korean.

    12. Everyone's Amandas are so gorgeous!! I'm jumping in with my own, Mora (though she's a supergem hybrid)

    13. So, they've released a new ultra muscular male line (whose "bits" deserve a special mention because god, why) and interestingly, promise 1-2 month shipping. No layaway, prices start at 1k.

      I know friends that are still waiting since 2019, and they are pretty miffed by this. Seems like their orders will be pushed even furhter behind, then...

    14. Dollshe could tell me water was wet and fire was hot and I still wouldn't believe him.

    15. That new guy is....words fail me. Definitely not to my tastes at all. And of course, Mr. D. once again off on a brand new venture, when so many customers are still awaiting their (years long) overdue orders.

      I feel fortunate that I finally secured my Erica after a 2.6 year wait (waiting along with the friend I purchased doll from). And that was only because there was a cancellation at BJDivas that was the same basic order, and so my friend and I finally received her.

    16. I don't understand why people still order from Dollshe. At this point I believe that everyone who waits longer than 6 months should ask for a refund, maybe it would make this ridiculous ponzi scheme to end finally.

      • x 4
    17. While it's not something I'd ever buy, the detailing of the sculpt is exquisite. But we already knew Dollshe could sculpt. Now if only he'd learn how to run an actual business.

    18. It's nice to see so many lovely dolls <3

      The new guy's body type would actually work for one of my characters, except he's too short. And I don't like the face (not sure why he named him David. David is prettier than that >>; ). I'd just like to know what Dollshe's obsession with giant schlongs is. They keep getting more and more ridiculously large...

      If anyone orders him, then they're obviously unaware of the bs going on or they just like giving him an interest free loan. :/

      I also noticed he was available in Honey resin. I thought the Honey resin was being discontinued?? :|

    19. Yeah, when I saw the email from Dollshe today I was like "Oh, he must have updated the 28M body." And obviously that was not the case. I do agree that the sculpting is great, and seriously the man bits are getting so ridiculous lol.:XD: And it really makes me sad that he's bringing out another new doll when so many people have been waiting an unbelievable amount of time. I've been wanting to order his 16F Natalie for so long, but I just can't bring myself to do it knowing the crazy wait that would be ahead of me.

    20. I'm gonna put it out there that this new guy is a show-er not a grower thus the size. But that's pure guesswork on my end. Honestly at this point it's anyone's guess what thought processes go on with Dollshe. You would think he'd be be working hard on getting all the back orders cleared before presenting new stuff for sale that will throw even more delays (and chaos) into the mix.

      • x 3
    21. ...I hope Dollshe never makes any that are growers. I imagine it'd be like those 'put this tiny dinosaur in water and watch it get 10x the size!' things lmao
      One would think. But why work on something when your waiting customers can just wait even longer and there's little they can do about it once PayPal protection runs out but complain and wait? I honestly don't think he cares about his customer base. :/

    22. Celebrate what you want to elevate, I guess, but Male Power Fantasy David just reconfirms for me that men are not okay. :nowords:

    23. This. This is him in a nutshell.

      He used the money from all of the people waiting for dolls to buy an expensive car that he happily showed off on his IG, and to start a new, non-bjd related business. He is a con man, pure and simple. :|

    25. It's been a few good years that dollshe has problems with getting orders out, so I honestly don't think that nothing will change. They will continue to release new dolls, promise delivery in 6 months, deliver a few after 2/3 years for the most annoyed customers. I honestly think that they are releasing new dolls just to cover refunds for not delivered past orders.

    26. Urgh. One of my biggest pet peeves is Doll Companies/artists having multiple sculpts with the same name. Excuse me while I just hug my OG David a little tighter. :|
      New guy is THICC oh lordy. I just about died laughing at his erm...finer details. WHHHHYYYY? :lol: I thought the snakes other companies have been releasing lately were silly, turns out everyone's just trying to flex on each other or something?

    27. ... is it me or does anyone else feel like there's a measuring contest of some kind going on with male dolls right now

      • x 13
    28. Dollshe has always come off as very arrogant/competitive to me, between the assertions that his dolls are superior, the disregard for shipping deadlines and...the car. It would be refreshing if he displayed a sense of humor about how cartoonish this guy is, but instead we get the Trophy of Legitimacy. :lol:

    29. It's a damn shame dollshe has gone the way it has :sigh

      Would anyone know if Freedomteller homme casual items are better in 75cm size or 70cm size for mystic body?

    30. I finally transferred some olde images to my computer, so, a little bit of Grace with a new wig I made. It's so easy to decide on wig colours on her as she only wears black, it all looks good.

    31. Put simply, yes.

      Granado/Crocus has a clear sense of humour, but Mr Kim confounds me and I have no idea if he's being serious or not. Because this is far too funny to not be deliberate.

      My goodness that wig is stunning! :D I love the colour gradient!

    32. Hello Dollshe threadgoers! I wasn't sure where to ask this really, but I've been having trouble getting a definite answer:

      Is the neck circumference on the Rhythmos body 10.5 cm, or 11 cm? The Dollshe site lists its measurements in mm and comes out to 10.5, but DoA has their measurement listing with records of it being 11. (I also had an acquaintance tell me that the neck is actually even smaller, and could even be 9.5?)

      Please help a hybrider out if anyone has clarification on this :sweat

    40. I'm loving the vibe of this photo and his smirk. His sofa is everything.

      This week my tan sa dollshe husky Tariq arrived. I've spent this morning getting him settled in. I will definitely commission a proper wig for him soon. And I'm still debating his eye color (he's borrowing a spare pair at the moment)

    43. @Nikki'sNewObsession
      He's so pretty, congrats! Husky is my favorite Dollshe (actually the sculpt that got me interested in the hobby), so it's always so nice to see one. <3

      ~~~
      Does anyone have an Old Classic Saint (the headcap version released after the faceplate one) and a Grown Saint that they can take comparison pics of, including inside the head/headback? Or either of those that they can get pics of next to an Old Classic Husky/Hound or an Aramis (first version, not Grown)? We're pretty sure that my mom got a Grown Saint head, instead of the Old Classic version. I've been having trouble finding pics of the Old Classic, especially inside the head, and who knows when her Grown Saint will get here for us to compare ourselves.
    44. Thank you. Yes, I love all the classic sculpts so much. I'm very happy to have him and my saint.
      Does anyone know what size shirts and pants best fit 18m old body? He's a bit smaller than my saint, so some eid shirts I have are too big for him. Would sd17 be better? Thank you for any help you can offer.
    45. I can't provide photos of Aramis with a head back Saint, as I currently only have the older head plate Saint and an original style Aramis, but let me know if you'd like comparison photos of them.
      I used to own an original Saint (from way back when) and also the "newer" version of Saint with head back. Those were both small heads, as is the head plate style.
      I think Grown Saint is supposed to be larger than other versions of this sculpt, with a larger neck opening to accommodate the Mystic body he was designed for.
      If your doll has a Classic or Pure body, does the head seem to sit loosely on the neck and appear somewhat "bobble headed"?
      • x 2
    46. You're welcome. <3
      If he's on the Pure body or old Hound body, then clothes labeled 70cm/Hound should work. Dollmore Model size clothes should also fit. If they have a lot of stretch, you can probably get some SD13 tops to fit though they could be a bit short (I've gotten some tank tops to fit, but they were also kind of long compared to some of my other SD13 tops). I've also gotten my boys into wine bottle sweaters lol. Just don't go for anything labeled 70cm Uncle, those will definitely be too big.
      Actually, that would help, thank you! From my research, it looks like the original Saint, faceplate Saint, and newer Saint have similar sized heads.
      He's on the Rhythmos body and isn't loose on it, but it has a slightly thicker neck than the old Hound and Pure body (we need to try him on one of those). He does look big on it, though. And looks big compared to the original style Aramis he's sitting next to.
    47. Okay, here's a pic of my guys sans wigs, so you can better see comparison between head sizes.
      Halim is the face plate version of Saint on original 70cm "Classic" style body. Virgil is an original style Aramis on 70cm Pure body.
      Hope this helps!
    48. Aside from the scale, (measure the head circumference? Should be pretty noticeable, something like 21cm vs 23cm) sculpting details set the Grown version apart from the previous incarnations. Most easily identifiable to me are the ears.
      Compare the rounded shape of earth.spirits' guy's ears to the more angular shape of Grown Saint's in this blog post.
      Grown Saint head’s original form is almost done. - DollShe craft
      Grown Saint would also have the name sculpted inside the headcap in a nice font, but I don't think they were doing that yet with the post-faceplate headcap version...? Someone can correct me.
      When my order eventually arrives I do intend to take side-by-side photos of old vs. new Saints for posterity...
    49. @earth.spirits
      Thank you! That does help. I got pics of her Saint next to Aramis and Husky, Saint looks bigger but measured the same... (I always forget how much Aramis' ears stick out lol) He also wasn't loose on the Pure body, though did seem to have a bit more gapping at the neck than with the Rythmos.
      @Havra
      Thank you! We measured his head and it came out to 21cm, same as Aramis and Husky (even though Saint is bigger than them when lining up the head openings...). He does have the more angular ears like Grown Saint. But looking at this picture, it looks like the 2012/old Saint has more angular ears than the 2009/faceplate Saint? So now I'm even more confused lmao.
      He does have the nice writing, with the Dollshe plate inside the headcap. But I'm also not sure if they were doing that with the 2012 version.
      I've got some comparison pics in the spoilers of him with original Aramis and re-released Husky. Though, pretty sure he's a Grown Saint and not the old Saint like she ordered...
    50. @LupusDarkmoon The measurements I gave were an off-the-top-of-my-head wild guess and I don’t have my new Saint yet to compare, but I just measured my faceplate version at 20cm. That looks like a Grown head to me. Overall size, ears, distance between the eyes--and the interior details and interior headcap ridge design are an exact match for my Grown Bernard and Hound.
      Seems like Dollshe is sending the larger newer Grown heads on the slimmer, older bodies. There was another box opening recently where that seemed to be the case. Which ... if it works for your mum, fantastic, but if it's not what she ordered... :sigh ... it's false advertising if nothing else.
      If anyone with a Grown Saint could confirm head circumference and neck hole measurements, that would be more definitive, but that’s sure what it looks like.
      • x 1
    51. @LupusDarkmoon - You're welcome, glad to help.
      Looking at your comparison photos, I agree with @Havra - I think that's a Grown Saint head.
      • x 1
    52. @Havra
      Thank you for measuring him and the info on your other Grown heads! I'm honestly surprised the head we have didn't measure more than the faceplate Saint.
      I'm not at all surprised that Dollshe pulled a switcheroo, but it is disappointing. She specifically ordered the Old Classic, not the Grown. She does have a Grown Saint on order that will, hopefully, get here one day. But she's pretty upset that Dollshe pulled this bs. Figure we'll probably give BJDivas a heads up, in case anyone else is waiting for an Old Classic Saint. We doubt Dollshe would do anything to fix the problem, even though she didn't get what she ordered. :/
      Now I'm wondering if any Old Classic Hounds and Bernards are getting switched with Grown versions... She's waiting on an IM Hound, but Dollshe didn't make a Grown version of him...so hopefully he'll actually be the right head.
      Maybe I should make a picture request thread lmao
      @earth.spirits
      Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. Looks like we'll have to find an older Saint secondhand, since Dollshe's apparently switched them. :/
    53. Has anyone seen that if you look on the instagram of the artist who sculpted leo for dollshe, she says Dollshe is becoming an 'independent subsidiary' soon. So they are selling ownership rights or some of them to a larger company? That does seem to imply that dollshe is having serious financial issues now, but if it goes well they may end up in a more secure position for those aiting on dolls.
