@Valor, I think the limitation is for the outfit, and maybe for the special faceup. That seems to be the case in the past

You know, I'd only buy her blank, or maybe with a faceup anyways, so I will have to wait on ordering her. I sure hope they don't change from what they've done in the past! I really do want her! But my house of cards will collapse if I tried to put another doll on layaway. And I still have to get Plaice a body since the last one came the wrong color

@Thymeseer I wish I could afford her! I swore to myself I'd finish the dolls I've got right now. She's so beautiful though, maybe if I get into a better financial position I'd do a layaway.

@A Wee Tiefling thanks for a good words, im still here and trying to customize my dolls. Mgb body was hard to sueding so it would be better on possing. but it worked. Now my girls sholders and legs moves better. and ofcourse, her hands have more possibility to move. i think so she was strung to hard.

@IngieBee my Azalea stolen dollshe craft body, was playing and using her as model for clothes. Big feet made me mad, so i did slippers for her. First time i did shoes. looks not so bad but need improve my skills. Will add some photos later.

 

@Anita2006 Can you get some pics of the sueding process? do you have any before and afters for how it improved?

@A Wee Tiefling i just used silicone rings on all joints, they are made ready to use. Works better on her as hot glue. just few pictures of shoulders possition and hands.

@IngieBee They are supposed to be working on updating maps/an atlas/something like that, but my dolls could be looking for treasure instead. You never know. (If they find some I hope they share...lol I'd probably use it to buy more doll stuff for them.)

LOL um. I repurposed my American Girl Molly table and chairs which are WAY too small for these big guys (there are legs going everywhere underneath). It does fit on my bookshelf, though, so bonus.

 

Well, they're just big guys, you know Nothing in the house ever fits

 

@Thymeseer I love his look. It really makes me wish I had room for some of those older sculpts!

 

He just looks like such a friendly kind of geeky person, to me, and made me smile and even giggle a bit like I just saw a picture of a favorite actor as a favorite character but I couldn't tell you who?? @Thymeseer , Love him!

 

i promised i will add some MGB better posing pictures. is not very visible but her hands posing improved a lot. and near her my hybrid azalea on dollshe 26M body.

That's the MGB? I think she looks perfect! That dress fits perfectly, and I think that the T-shirt I had mine in was such a poor fit, that it made her shoulders look too big. But your Aurora looks so regal in that dress, I love it! And that's such a perfect match your azalea on the dollshe body, did you have to blush? What resin colors are they? @Anita2006

 

@IngieBee i did bit of sueding on her shoulders with silicone rings, and now it have more human posing possibilities. Yes, it is MGB body :-) oh I Azalea head is on special real anti uv skin, and dollshe body is on mango oriental skin tone. i did some modifications on bodies neck so her head have more posing possibilities as well. ut body fits perfect for her.

 

Beautiful, and it looks like the body was made for her. I need to take pictures of my dolls, it's been a while!

 

New subforum, yay! The new girl Dabria looks quite awesome, def an option for a future buy. Unfortunately, I'm on a strict dolly diet right now. ^_^

I smacked together every doll currently at home for a FAREWELL2020 group shot. Warpaint-Adhara is currently in the spa for a revamp, so it's her Iplehouse Scarlet head that's been monopolizing her photos. The bright yellow robe on Guórén was my last project of the year, requiring a ton of appliqueing and basting that I never implemented before on a sewing project.

@Anita2006 Have you done a project journal for the modding? I need to take mobility mods into consideration for my larges.

@AntarelNefertili I love that robe for Guoren! I only hand sew, I couldn't get work like that done easily.

@A Wee Tiefling sorry, but i did not did that. but its very easy, just same as hot glue, but you put all silicone rings thoughts joints.
@IngieBee oh yes, after I did some sueding with silicone rings I just love her. Now she can pose much better and looks much nicer.

I think we need Adhara's war paint to smack down 2020 so it never rears it's ugly head again! LOL. I Never hated a year more! Can one even hate a year? Great family photo though, @AntarelNefertili , LOL

I have so many projects to do this year, including working on sweating dolls and making hair pieces and painting, I hope I feel up to the task in 2021!!

@A Wee Tiefling The appliqué was actually done by hand (specifically the parts with the black vines -- there's simply no way to go about attaching it to the yellow cloth), but I assembled the robe via machine. Even then, I did a ton of hand-sewing around the hems just to finish the thing neatly.

@Rakonto The tiny girl is an Elva2 from Russian artist Olga Reingard. I don't think she is being produced anymore, tho (and iirc the artist has changed her ig name). Her scale versus the big'uns is pretty adorable!

@IngieBee Yeah, I'm really hoping her revamped face will drive out a lot of the 2020 blues. D: Better get a lot of projects done while the energy's still fresh.

 

So I'm just realizing now (just so the same one day to another) that 2021 is here, and despite all the talk of it going to be worse, I can't help but feel optimistic. I think it will be a good year!

 

i'm considering buying a impl star girl can anyone tell me if they come with heeled feet? or what feet i could use if they don't?

 

Greeting 2021 with an impromptu lace blouse, because sometimes you just get the urge to sew and must seize the opportunity. It was hand-sewn in one day, using only scrap cloth and a lot of lace pieces. Please do not follow my example of sewing without a pattern; I just pinned and sewed everything around her, adjusting things as I went along. (Pricked a finger pretty bad while appliqueing, too.) Several members in the doll crew are definitely liking the result tho.

@Enchiridion All of my body orders from Impl didn't come with heeled feet. They are available for order separately though, so you shouldn't have to hybrid.

i have two girls of impldoll and both came with high heels feets. im not using them at the moment, but one day i will buy high heel shoes and definetly will try to switch feets.

 

@americanseamstress I saw an old post that said you have an Idol FGB body with TGB legs. How difficult was the mod?

There's a new Supermodel sculpt up: Dabria. Seems like Impldoll might be focusing on the Supermodel line.

 

@AntarelNefertili You could have fooled me with that top! It looks so good. I can't wait to get a harness for my lady. Also my dudes...

 

@Valor in addition to Dabria, I wish they'd put up their three eyed girl as well!

The mod was not difficult at all. You technically have to do no modding, as the legs fit pretty well into the existing FGB sockets (the exception is that the upper thighs aren't as deep front to back and therefore there's a small (less than a centimeter) gap.

The doll will be bowlegged at neutral; however, although this can be adjusted by just forcing the legs closer together. I solved this by shaving down the resin in between the hip sockets on the FGB pelvis piece (perineum). This allows the legs to sit closer together at neutral, reducing the bowleggedness.

 

@americanseamstress Thank you for the detailed explanation! Sounds like the gap would be partially filled anyway by hot glue/silicone kip sueding. The doll will be sitting more than standing, so bowleggedness shouldn't be too visible.

Also, three-eyed girl? Hopefully she's next then!

Hmm. The third eye being sculpted in seems a touch limiting, but the sculpt's a good choice for a merperson (of the fishier variety).

The bony guy's outer jaw is interesting too.

 

That's one very cool thing about Impldoll, they make bold fantasy dolls. Well bold for the BJD industry she is amazing, and quite pretty!

@Thymeseer I wanted some of the older female sculpts because they're very strong featured. I bet a great makeup lewk on Mandy or that one who looked like Cher would really stand out.

@IngieBee Bold fantasy sculpts that are *afffordable*!! No less. I enjoy Soom's fantasy sculpts and DC but they're out of my price range. Impldoll makes interesting concepts accessible to plebes like me.

Alright, last round of questions before I finally make the purchase, I think. I didn't plan on hybridizing even further, but the finger posing is pretty cool...

Do the Resinsoul jointed 72cm boy hands look alright on Idol man bodies? They're the same size as the default Idol woman hands. (Also looking at Doll Legend and Doll Family-A jointed hands for their extra thumb joint.)

How well does the Idol TGB thigh joint work for knee-to-chest poses? Hopefully the gap caused by the FGB body won't cause problems.

 

Thymeseer thank for the comment. I was thinking of using kirk in blue for night crawler in x man or avatar the move. Or l just may get him in normal skin for Finn.

 

@Thymeseer thank you. I still want to enjoy John, he is nice looking after all modifications on his head. Still don't want to pose very well but hope so elastic will loosen by time.

 

@Valor Do you not like Impldoll's jointed hands? I thought they had them for idol men... I know someone here has Legendoll hands on their idol and they seem to get the best general reviews. (I need to learn the secret to measuring hands because I need jointed hands for Dante now he has a guitar...)

 

@A Wee Tiefling I thought that the Impldoll Idol jointed hands had short palms. Something looks a bit odd in the promotional pictures, anyway. Might be something else.

 

@Captin Janeway Unusual resin colors for Impl like the blue you mentioned can only be ordered by their custom resin service for an extra fee, iirc. You'd have to give them a color swatch or sample beforehand.

@A Wee Tiefling Congrats on getting the guitar! Jointed hands really do a lot to add to the pose with instruments, even if it's only a flute. I myself have a doll instrument (an erhu) currently in the no-man's land of our postal service, and I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get a notice for it soon.

@Thymeseer I also wasn't too fond of the older Impldoll sculpts, but I've learned not to underestimate the power of good faceup and styling. (Let's face it, Impl's promo photos sometimes do not show the doll at its best.)

does anyone own dolls in real skin and light tan? i need to see the difference before i make up my mind what to get

 

@Enchiridion I've got real skin, what were you considering about it? (I can show them against an Impl "pink" skin and a Spiritdoll tan so you can see that range)

 

@Valor The hybriding does not obstruct the function of the thigh mobility joint. Sorry I missed this.

@Thymeseer He's a super cool guy too--I've never seen another sculpt like him! So cool! For some reason every time I see him I'm reminded of the elephant graveyard in The Lion King.

If they have something called light tan, I don't know? it's new. I have a tan boy, he looks orange, the real skin today, the body I got that totally doesn't look like my real skin head, is like a super light "normal yellow" I don't think you can plan anything to work out with Impldoll because they keep changing things Unless you go second hand or special order a color. Sorry, I'm still salty

And finally, after a year and what? 3 months? I should have delivery of my Leona, and how about a bet she will be in the new ugly RS and not the one I ordered which was lovely and dark, I don't think I even want to open it
