I been lurking and waiting honestly. When do you think the new sculpts that were shared around June in the previous thread will be released? After the event possibly? I been wanting to order a doll from Impl for a couple months now and I really have my heart set on Josy since she'd be perfect for a character and I'd love to properly start posting in here more.

 

@Pooki I wish I knew! I'm dying for Josie too. She's perfect as my Imani... who I thought I'd never shell because it's so hard to find a doll with those features that's actually in production! I also desperately need Mr. Horns-N-Teeth. But I just want him because he's gorgeous haha.

It's dangerous that bjddivas is a dealer for them now. I just want to start alllllll the layaway. And I might have to if either of those two are released!

 

I once upon a time did layaway from Impl. it was actually a really nice experience since they messed up the color of my doll so they let me keep it and sent me a brand new one. Everything was pretty smooth otherwise with them since it was rather an interesting custom order. I'll restring the boy possibly in the up coming weeks since he needs new string and extra hands to hold him. I was inspired by pictures i saw on here of a blue Plaice. So I got one He's a beauty for sure.

 

Which one is Josie? I can't find her???

I missed out on a few updates, because I didn't recall seeing either of those two. Seth looking like he'll be a nice looking manly guy, and Josy's features are awesome. It great to see more ethnic options out there, and she's certainly a cutie

Also...finally heard back from BJDivas. I've started my layaway for the MGB body with a Bernice head for the event. I've been wanting to upgrade the OC that's currently shelled as Bernice onto that body since it was released, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get her in their more pinky normal resin. I have the current one in their old real skin, and it's always had a more yellowy base than I wanted for her. So, woot!

 

Oh! I didn't realize that was her name . I need her too!

Congratulations on your upcoming doll, @jade-eyed-cat! I personally adore the new rosier RealSkin, even if that resulted in my girl Adhara being sliiiiightly darker than her companion, Guórén (whose body is on the older yellower RS -- see their hands below). I guess I shouldn't complain because she's part-Mesoamerican anyway, but it's still a hassle to guess what color one would end up with!

Re: the WIP sculpts, I didn't know their names were Seth and Josy! I've seen them somewhere (maybe Impl's FB), but I guess I didn't read their names. Impl is really diversifying their sculpts; I really hope the in-progress shots get their final look soon!

 

@IngieBee maybe when Mick was young, i can see some familiar face shapes with my Louis and Mick :-)

@jade-eyed-cat Right, it's great to see human variety of features in dolls! It makes me hopeful I can one day (in the Distant Future) shell some of my more unique charas.

@Thymeseer Hell yeah, layaway! To reward myself for my new job (YEAH NEW JOB) I got a layaway in for the event. Gonna get a little faun guy for my hubby and see if I can't convince him to join the Doll Side.

 

I'm hedging to the faun boy as my free doll, too. But I'm still undecided so I haven't ordered my Ziv yet.

 

How much longer will this sale be? Not that I have more $ to spend....

 

The event runs to October 15th so you have time to go dig change out of your couch cushions to finance a doll.

I have neglected this thread/s for ... years? About to start my 3rd year at Uni (creative writing - useless but fun!) had major surgery (thyroid) last month and moved house twice in the summer too! I THINK the dust has finally settled for 5 mins, but still too disorganised to make much use of spare time as ever (I have given up nagging myself!)

Even so - I found a lovely summer top in Primark yesterday for £1 on sale, which had a shirred back waistband piece - perfect for those giant boobies on my idol girl body (which is so hard to sew for!) The top neckline was the right length for the front hem, and I just had to slice off the rest of the fabric and sew a seam up the back, and attach a hair-elastic for a halter neck tie to keep the darned thing up on those slippery slopes. I do find repurposing human garments is an easy way to make clothes for this giant body, as I have no sewing machine and those seams are looooong.

Also maybe of interest to someone to see a proportional pic of this body with the Luts Abadon head on - I love this hybrid (faceup by Angel Toast - head and body bought separately on MP). I'm sorry to say that 'Danielle' (if anyone can remember the Akagi Ban head which also fitted this body nicely) has been given to a friend, which I kind of regret as s/he was sweet but no way I would ever be buying another humungous body for any doll, having moved house twice with them LOL

@elve is that the model body? I got confused, which head do you have on it? Your pixie in the background is adorable . Also, great job on the dress! But boy howdy, if you think the model body is big, you should see the idol bodies!!!

 

My sympathies on moving with dolls. I recoil in fear at the idea of doing that. My collection will soon total 62 dolls and almost 1/2 of that number are SD size.

 

@IngieBee and @A Wee Tiefling Ahaha, lovebirds. XD I'd really like to bring them to meets as a pair, but due to their scale it often ends up as just one (with perhaps their MSD daughter). I tend to end up with sore arms after an event where I have to carry one of them around, haha.

Hi there again, @elve! Oh, the things we recycle for our dolls! I've had to change residences with my dolls several times (with an increasing number each time). It was so easy when it was just one (even though she's on the Starwoman body, at least I was able to stuff her in a large yoga bag with my clothes as padding), but I eventually had to invest in a suitcase when my guy in the Idol body came along.

 

@IngieBee thank you the pixie is Island Doll No:1 and that is a Luts Abadon (SSD) head on the idol big bust body - I've had that body for years but only found a head I really like for it last year

@Iron_Dog oh my that's a van load of dolls by themselves LOL - I have downsized every time I move house though and I always regret it! So this time I just wrapped them all up and slung them in a shopping trolley and took them on the bus (got no car). I was too ill and exhausted to care if they got broken really, which taught me a valuable lesson - yes they're heavy - yes they're huge - but it's worth doing and we all survived!

@AntarelNefertili I used a shopping trolley (the fabric personal shopper type) last time but have just bought a gigantic suitcase for next year when I'll have to move again as I won't be a student any more. I have a feeling it may be too heavy to lift once they are all inside it though... It is an 8 wheeler so hopefully we'll get there OK! I would like to settle down really as I am now in my late 50's and not as strong as I used to be, but I'll have to move at least twice more next year again when I graduate - oh the horror!

 

@elve One of my friends says I can start using the stacks of boxes as furniture now. I can't say she's entirely wrong.... I have 4 stacks of boxes (all my dolls are in their boxes due to lack of display space and Idiot Cat who believes wigs are his toys) and the shortest of stacks is about hip/waist high on me and I'm 5'-7".

I want to order my Ziv soon but I'm oddly torn about the event going on. I'm going to order the Ziv regardless and I'd like to do it sooner than later but I have a Rule about no doll coming home who isn't a character already. I'll qualify for getting a free baby doll with the purchase of the Ziv but I don't have anyone that the free doll could be. But free doll! #firstworlddollyproblems

 

@elve late 50's student?? Wow! I'm envious of your mind! I already forgot how to tie my shoes! LOL. You sound like a very cool adventures person !

@Iron_Dog oh wow I forgot about your cat and the necessary forced imprisonment of your army of dolls! As for Ziv and the free baby, well, impldoll do have so many quirky babies - I love their 'cat' one so surely it's time your cat had a BJD to play with (always happy to enable)

 

@elve Apparently it's dangerous to leave Writer Brain unattended with the knowledge that there will soon be a resin shell that requires filling. The "problem" of the unknown free doll has apparently been solved by tying in events that happened literally hundreds of years previously. So yea! for that but I now need to figure out wigs and eyes and a name for him, too. I lead such a hard life, no?

 

Hello all. I have a hybrid coming in that has an Impldoll Star body with I think the medium bust which is nice but a lil too big for my taste. Is there any possible way to order just a small bust from Impldoll?

 

Impldoll is pretty accommodating, and I know people have ordered just parts in the past. Try emailing them and ask them about it? I'm pretty certain they'll say yes, and it doesn't hurt to ask them

Wow @elve just dropping this quick message to say I admire you for persevering in your studies! Stay awesome that way!

 

@elve I'm thankful I got back into the hobby heavily after I finished a ton of moving around. Eight years or so ago I was moving at least every other year (if not every year), and having to move with a load of resin across state lines, or halfway across the country (twice) would've caused stars before my eyes from the pressure. Also, I wish you the best of luck with your studies. I just finished with my graphic design degree last spring, and can understand the toll studies can take on you.

On a completely separate note...this is probably the first actual photoshoot I've done with my crew in months. I've either been burned out, physically tired or too stressed to do much with my resins. But I finally got a couple nice portraits with my lovely Nira (Azalea) and her beau Valon (DZ Raymond):

These two ended up doing some major swapping around. Besides my girl getting herself a new, prettier face, her beau's also chose to do a body swap. I'm feeling more content with these two.

(Now, I just need to get my other pair figured out...)

to be fair I keep looking at Bernice as a possible girlfriend to my Plaice since theres not a lot of blue skinned able elf eared dolls out there. I already decided I'm gonna get Josy when she comes out in blue skin lol I might of ordered eyes in prep too. My future impldoll collection: all these blue skinned dolls.

Impldoll really enables us to be enablers :P their such flexible resin colors and them able to fulfill requests of the more unusual skin colors is one of the reasons why I love them more then other companies. Plus their doll prices are just amazing too.They do need more proper Asian sculpts though.

@IngieBee I agree! I think she'd look amazing with an unusual color skin instead of her more typical normal skin.

 

Wahahaha I guess I should hold back from posting about my most recent clothes-making spree then. I've rediscovered my love for my Implbodies. XD I'm in the same boat as @jade-eyed-cat with the lack of photoshoots because Real Life has taken a huge bite of the time.

 

@Pooki @Iron_Dog I agree, I'm smitten with the sheer variety of sculpts from one company. Very few other companies do that with sculpts that are to my taste (Island Doll tries, as do the Doll Families).

i started to work on new costumes for my queen and king so soon will make photos as well, oh i fell in love with John when he got more realistic mohair hairs, and i still keep muscle girl body, it is ok to change mindes i think, is good for modeling as i got orders for warrior costumes and it really helps.
still want to open etsy shop but no time for good photos of my t-shirts.
In case someone would be interesting i tryed baby clothes 0-3 months just aliterated side seams and it looks not bad :-) i mean on boys bodies :-)

 

@anita: That indeed is interesting. All of my guys still need normal, everyday clothes. So every chance of getting something a bit less expensive is very welcome.

 

@Ipledreamer i will add picture today in evening, and you can see how it works, you need just aliterate seams from both sides and sleeves so it works good and looks nice ;-)

 

Gosh looking at these beautiful dolls make me so tempted to get one!! I've always adored impldoll sculpts, especially the more beast-looking ones
Im in love with Chad, the only thing stopping me is that im not a fan of the body and trying to find one that matches the colour and fits is a nice challenge

 

@Offerhalla what you could do is find the body then get Impldoll to match it for the head Its pretty nice that they offer that service and are really good about it!

Side note i cannot restring my Plaice since his lower piece of his oversized torso is cracked from who knows what! so i must negotiate with impldoll to get a complete lower half remade. I really don't want to buy another body for him lol since it'd be a waste really.

 

The past few weeks of turbo sewing had finally borne fruit! I've been playing RPG version of Legend of the Five Rings as a one-man army of these two -- under different names, but essentially the same appearance and personalities. So you see, I just had to dress 'em up just like how they appear in their RPG selves (no armor yet tho, I'd still have to improve my leatherworking skills).

Dayum, it's the first time Guórén's wardrobe exceeded Adhara's in pomp and cost, requiring around five different types of cloth (that I don't handle unless really required) to get that effect. The things we do for our resin children!

@AntarelNefertili Ohhh! I love the fabric you used on the cuffs/edges of his robe. They look amazing.

 

@AntarelNefertili Guoren's outfit is so gorgeous tho, it's worth it to get that rich level of detail! Me I'm lazy so I'll pay someone else to make Tony's (bullshitty, no frills) space marine uniform. If he's lucky I may get a dress uniform as well as a daily one.

 

Thank you @Iron_Dog and @A Wee Tiefling ! It was my first time working with brocade and them fancy fabrics like taffeta and duchess. I was really afraid I'd mess up with the brocade, because I only had one yard of it and I had to make sure the pattern aligned properly. It was quite fun to dig into the piles of cloth in a literal fabric warehouse looking for just the right fabric, at the very least.

 

I try to avoid going to Fabricland because I KNOW I'll walk out with fabric. I don't need more fabric! I have an 80L tote bin so full that the lid only closes because I stack another 80L tote bin full of yarn on top of it. That being said, I was very good when I went to Fabricland last time and only bought the batting I went in there for. I bought a piece of fabric in the secondhand hand store that I went to after that so... +1/-1?

And in exciting-for-me news, I'm just waiting on the invoice from Impl for my custom green Ziv! I'm super excited to finally bring home the Ziv sculpt since I've admired him for so long.

 

*waves* Hi! I just got an (I think) Aurora second hand. The seller didn't know the sculpt, but I honestly wanted it for the body. It came with the 63cm girl body that I wanted for my Black Cherry Dolls head. Looks beautiful with the head.

...but when I measure her, the doll reads at 54cm tall?! I understand that sometimes the measurements listed on the site (Alice's or actual Impldoll's) and the real doll differ. My Dream Valley girl reads a whole 5cm shorter for her sculpt even though another of her body sculpt (different head) reads the correct height I have.

Is this girl supposed to be 63.5cm? If someone else that has that body can help me, I'd love if you could measure how tall your 63cm girl is in flat feet. I'd post a picture of her, but my child stole away my phone.

 

Maybe the head was on the Model line body? I know the male Model lines are 58cm and generally the girls are shorter than the boys so... Complete guess on my part but I thought it sounded reasonable.

Yeah, there so to speak two versions of the around 60 cm - Star and Model. Sounds as you got the slightly shorter Model body.

 

Turns out that the lady listed the doll incorrectly. *sigh* I'll be trying to return her for not being as described. She listed the exact measurements for the Star body and had that listed. If I had known it was the Model body I wouldn't have bid on her. So while I wait for the seller to get back to me on returning her, I'm setting up a layaway to get my girl the body she was supposed to have.

Guess I'll see you guys again once the body comes in. :/ Off I go to the waiting room...

For those wondering about Josy, she should be released around December, I believe they said. She'll be released before the Seth head. I am so excited about her, too!

I have discovered a way to get myself an Aurora head- she will get my muscular girl body and the head on that body now will get... a 3rd gen male body! yes, it works with some modding and new hands!

Sorry, one more post... anyone ever wondered if Soom Chalco would make a good woman? Well, my tan Impl Idol body says... yes! Though I'd like to get the jointed neck for her, a little extra width:

 

@chalyss Thank you! I'm really excited to have finally figured out who he was so he could come home.

Added into the excitement is that when I emailed RS to ask about making a thicker neck on their Mu body for the head that is one of Malachite's partners, they said they could do that. Haven't ordered the body yet though as paying for Malachite smacked a good hit to my dolls funds and I need to buy wigs for Malachite, Qayin and the as-of-yet unnamed child that will be also coming to me when Malachite arrives. And face-ups still need to be had for several of my guys. And while I've been experimenting with eye making (and wow is it fun), I need to buy supplies for that, too.

BJD's are truly wallet vampires.

 

RS is sooooo accommodating! Maybe I'll ask for that for my upcoming Yi since I need to get my Impl Joshua head a new body as I changed colors.

*LOLOL* Yes, they are. I see now why some people so eagerly embrace vampires... I keep coming back for more with BJDs, too.
