@AntarelNefertili, I know right?? I am so happy they are now though! And that's a great pic of a surprise capture! *L* You're right about the posing power of the first gen Idol men- they had such great engineering! You can still order them, too. They may not be /quite/ so pretty as the newer versions, but they're the best posers.

I had a quick look at Jeeryama's site but I wasn't sure if it was loading correctly so I figured I'd try it on the laptop next time. I went to their eBay shop next but as a buyer I was "blocked due to shipping restrictions" so I guess if I want to buy anything I'll have to send an email. I should probably avoid temptation anyway - in a few hours I'll know if I've won an Iris head I didn't really need...

Edit; I won the Iris head I didn't really need! I'm considering making her a boy but we'll have to see what happens when she gets here. She has a female faceup but it's badly damaged so it will need redoing but it depends if I can see her as a boy... And Resinsoul replied to tell me they should be able to make me a Yi body to match my Martin head - they had stopped colour-matching for a while but I'm guessing they've been busy - they said it will take two months for my body which I do not mind at all! Cheered me up too as I've been sulking a bit - stuck indoors because of stupid snow (not literally, I'm just not a fan!) and having a clumsy day so I decided against doing the tattoos on my Star body - which needs a good scrub before I do that anyway!

So what body will suit incoming Iris...? Hmmm /babble XD

@captain_panda Wow, that hybrid looks great! I heard that Dollshe and Impl worked great together, but I didn't realize just how great until I saw your doll! The resin match is also perfect!

Also, for anyone who owns Azalea... What sort of eyes would you recommend? I'm thinking of going with 12mm small iris eyes, but is there a chance that 14mm small iris eyes may also work?

The reason I am asking is because I saw a comparison pic of some 14mm small iris eyes and 12mm regular iris eyes, and the 14mm eyes had much smaller irises... I'm guessing they were 5mm to 5.5mm, whereas the 12mm eyes had the standard 6mm irises...

I'm mostly looking for sizing suggestions for now. I know that Beetles have small iris options, but none of the colors work for what I have in mind. I did see some nice eyes in Blue Blood Doll's website that have smaller irises, so that's a maybe...

 

@AntarelNefertili Oh! That photo is actually super helpful! Thank you! That regular 12mm iris actually looks pretty nice, and I guess for a female character, it would work pretty well. I found a pair of 14mm small iris eyes that were nice, and I think the pupils might be in the 5 to 5.5mm range, so they should still work... If not, then I have a pair of small iris 12mm eyes picked out on Blue Blood Doll.

CONGRATS, @rubydoll! Maybe an Impl male model body would work? I could actually check this for you- I have a spare model body that is doing nothing anymore as it's way too small now. What color resin?

Gosh, Azalea looks fabulous in either of those eye sizes! She's just so pretty!

I'm not entirely sure what colour she is - she looks Real Skin in the photos but the owner says she's more tan irl so I'm guessing she's that darker shade of RS that Impl did for a while in which case she'll match a pair of feet I have but not much else! I'm in two minds about the Model body - I do love the body and I think it would probably work, but I decided early on that all my dolls would have different bodies - but if they were brothers then the same body would seem fairly natural and they'd have different hands as mine has RS jointed hands. But I've been looking at pics of Iris and she's so pretty as a girl I'm not sure if I'm gonna stick to the plan. Especially as the arrival of Dylan means my girls are outnumbered. But I'll let you know when she arrives and I've tried her on every body I have. She may have to float for a while cos Martin is next in the body queue!

I can imagine how the Model body must be literally dwarfed by your big boys! You couldn't use it for a surprisingly buff young lad?

 

Iris IS a beautiful girl! She'd probably make a cute boy too, but yeah-- she's such a great sculpt for a pretty little thing that turning her into a he would be tough!

The body of the model is so small compared to the rest that I think I'd have to sand him less buff and then use him as a young lad or maybe I can make him a REALLY short guy... really short. He's much smaller than most of my girls now. Hmm. Maybe a beast mod of some sort... HMMMM....

@Anita2006, I have 2 Azaleas! And a floating head! She can look so very different depending on face up and wig!

@chalyss while I don't mind my Ziv being shorter than my guys, it does bug me a little he's shorter than my girls as soon as they put heels on. But it's become part of his character. He's a prince and in a few short years will be King and his short stature and baby face are just additional reasons for the queen regent to be disappointed in him. Maybe he needs a fiancée...

A beast mod would be awesome ^^ or you could glue some fur on his feet and make him a hobbit who hits the gym after second-breakfast every day!

Yes, a Doll Chateau Snow Nymph helmet. It actually does not need modding to fit the smaller Azalea head, though it's too big without a wig. The Christina helmet had to replace my Vanessa's head cap and her head be modded for it to fit:

Thank you! One of my other heads stole the Valkyrie helm, so tanned Vanessa will eventually get her own special Vanessa horned helm that Impl sells. She needed bigger horns anyway.

 

@AntarelNefertili Thank you for the pictures! So sorry about the delay; I was out with the flu >.< Azalea looks great with both eyes, actually. I think I might go with the small pupil ones after all, to better match the Beast aesthetic-wise.

Also, guys, I did a think and bought my Beast some beast legs =O I will still keep the ones I modded, of course, but we'll see how this goes. They're the Soom Phonolus legs. Eee.... So excited that my Beast is coming together.

The silver material I used on the Christina's helmet is cut up silver mesh earrings I got on ebay. I use a lot of people jewelry for my stuff because I am not talented enough to make it. *L*

I ordered a Resinsoul Yi body for my Martin head today! Need to post the headcap off so they can use it to colour-match. They said it might take a bit longer - two months - but that's peanuts compared to some wait times!

My Iris head hasn't arrived yet but already I'm mulling options over. I'm leaning towards keeping her as a girl and I've been looking at the April Story senior body for her - mostly because I want an AS head and they don't often sell them separately. The junior body would fit in better with my crew but the lack of torso joint is a deal breaker. However the senior body is quite big and very hippy so I'm not sure it will suit Iris if she's as small as my other Impldoll heads.

 

Hey sorry to go a little off topic but I was wondering if anyone could measure the length of their inpledoll star male bodies necks for me without the head so collarbone to top of the neck

 

I make it 5.5cm from the upper edge of his collarbone to the top of his neck. Hope that helps

LOL, I contacted Impldoll about my heads and outfit, and they were still holding them for me! I asked them, during Xmas, to please hold them if they should be finished until after January 2nd. They've been holding them all this time! Ugh, I need to learn Korean and Chinese (both?!) but that'll never happen. I have the antithesis of talent in languages! LOL. So hopefully they will arrive soonish now The other head through Denver Doll Emporium is still MIA. But they said they'd write to Impldoll again and get back with me. It's hard to tell if DDE is dropping the ball or Impldoll?

 

@Ringdoll, yay for Yi! Such a lovely body! They really need to just hold on to that tan color I think. It's much used. I was thinking of getting the Yi for my Martin too ( he came in today but the camera battery died as I was taking comparative pics) and he is that pretty, light tan your Martin is. But then I tried the head on my Angelsdoll body -they also make a very pretty, light tan) and it looked great! Pics to come, but that body works better for my character anyway. Joshua will still get the Yi, more than likely. Glad you got yours!

@IngieBee, lol! At least they held them and didn't put them back or sell them! As for the MIA head, maybe ask Impldoll? Or have you tried DDE lately again?

 

I just wrote to DDE yesterday again, and got a response this morning, so I'll let them figure it out :P Impldoll said they would send my heads and outfit out on Monday, so we'll see how long that takes to get here. At least I'll have a head for Marie Antoinette, which will probably become the name of the first head that makes it to me :P

I do sometimes wonder if I should run my messages through Google Translate as some people do use it with success but whenever I've messed around with it I've had some odd results. The only Chinese I picked up watching Jackie Chan movies was "what's wrong?" Whereas anime has taught me all sorts of mostly useless phrases XD

I can take a pic of the Martin head on a non-matching Yi body if you like! But he looks REALLY good (depending on what kind of body you want, of course) on the AD! I was surprised. And AD makes a super lovely light tan that I think would match. BUT the AD is 74cm too!

I'm not gonna say no to a preview of what my Martin can expect, colour-matching or not! ^__^ I had a quick look on Comparison Heaven as they'd got a couple of Angelsdoll bodies and there's a "Massive" one which looks like the dude has some buffalo DNA in him and a less massive one which is more slender and actually does look like the sort of body I could imagine a Martin on. But I'm sticking with the Yi body because I have now paid for it and the headcap has been posted off!

I recently bought rechargeable batteries for my camera. I got so fed up of buying expensive batteries which didn't last very long in the camera and stockpiling them because they had enough power left to charge a TV remote XP Not that I use it much - tends to be my iPod more than anything!

You're looking at the old, defunct AD bodies on Comparison Heaven; they don't make those anymore. The lean body option would not have looked great, I don't think and I have yet to get my hands on the Massive boy body though I have 2 versions of the massive female body. Nyet! I speak of the new company (the partners split and one reopened a few years later with new product) which kept the old name and none of the old sculpts or bodies. Ah, I DO have that body in a shot with an Impl Joshua head on a Yi body, so here it is:

I am having posing issues with Evan, which I think is stringing related, so I need to figure that out.

I have some ancient rechargeables- I'd rather get a USB rechargeable camera though; that is a nice feature. But I should update my rechargeable batteries if I go that route as they're... OLD.

 

@chalyss oh wow, that's quite the upgrade - look at the detail on that bad boy! Yeah, I think I can picture Martin on that one - there's a sort of tautness about it that would work with his narrow face. And it's always nice to see Joshua with that smirk of his.

It's weird that it's only when you see him next to Azalea that he looks really big! I have tried holding my Martin head up against my yardstick to get an idea of his eventual height but I don't think I'll believe it til I see him in the flesh. I have been giving the Star body more love since Dylan took it over - planning some tattoos but first he needs a good wash. I need to start putting him in boxer shorts because scrubbing off stains is bad enough without them being in that area!

Iris hasn't arrived yet when she does I'm going to try her on my Mirodoll body as it seems closest measurement-wise to April Story - I can wedge something in her armholes to make her shoulders wider and maybe I could pad her hips out with dolly-sized cushions!

 

I love Joshua's smirk! He will get a Yi body later- I have to custom order his color since I switched him to Impl's version of Miro's burnt sugar.

Iris was due to arrive yesterday but nothing. Postie doesn't usually come until about lunchtime by which point I'll be out. But I think I have a character for her including a love triangle involving my shortest boy Ziv and my tallest Star Dylan. Although this could just be part of Heilan claiming everything I've brought in since he arrived. First thing he did was steal Mr Randall's body. Then the dagger and belt I bought for Sabine was suddenly his. It's gonna be interesting when my Dollheart girl outfit finally shows up!

 

Aw, sorry Iris didn't make it! I swear there is something going on in customs! I love all the boys spam It's fun to hybrid except when you're actually doing it, LOL. Not knowing if the colors will work or the body will fit. But then when you're done, you have something so unique

Yes, she's finally heeerrrrreeee! So I can give the parcel bin by the front door a rest! For all my umming and ahhhing and "she could totally be Alisander's brother!" justifications, and despite the fact she did seem perfectly willing to step into that role, it seems she was destined to be someone else. So instead of a brother, Alisander got a fiancee. But it's a political match and they barely know each other, in fact Heilan knows her better...

I'm pretty sure Iris is Real Skin but she's a darker shade than my other girls. It's a shame her faceup is damaged as it's prettier than anything I'm going to be able to manage - it looks like her previous owner added to it, darkening her eyebrows and her lips so I wonder if that's when she got chipped. I've got her on a Mirodoll body at the moment but I'm considering an April Story one for her. Similar bust and waist measurements but more of a booty, lol. Broader shoulders though which may be a problem as Iris is a tiny head. I thought it was just because I'd been messing about with my Martin and Dylan heads which are pretty big, but no, she's so smol,

 

Oh right! I can take a pic of an Iris head on an April Story doll for you. Miro is probably a pretty good choice size-wise. But I'll get a shot for you.

P.s. I love that look Heilan has for her! Juicy love triangle maybe..?

If you find clothes on ebay or such (and also check Blueblooddoll.com, also on ebay) and just make sure you're watching sizes- EID would be the safest, or Feeple65- I believe both, being closer in height to a Starwoman (65cm), will yield you better results than SID sized.

Of course you do, you're like the hybrid BJD database ^____^ I had a quick browse through your Mei Mei pictures earlier - you had her on a different body before she finally ended up on the Model, right? I love the pics where Imandi is tormenting her XD She's on the Mirodoll body at the mo, haven't actually got round to trying her on anything else - haven't managed to prise her away from Heilan XD April Story have an event on right now which is tempting but when I touched my wallet it just screamed at me so I think I will wait for the next one if I decide to go that route. Randall's body and a Sunny's World order I'd forgotten about (stuff for Heilan. I don't want to force his muscles into Randall's fancy clothes and he doesn't want to wear them.) mean I need someone to take the keys to my Paypal account away from me and lock them up until I re-establish a reasonable level of self-control. XD

The love triangle would probably be juicier if Iris (who really needs a name!) could see Alisander as anything other than an immature, irresponsible little boy and if he could see her as something other than an overly-serious, humourless buzzkill. He'd be quite happy to let Heilan steal her away but she believes that duty comes before her own personal happiness.

I think that was an Angell Studio body; the neck was too big but I didn't much care. *L* She posed well! I ended up trading that one when I got the actual Model body for her. The AS body was a nice fit for the size! (I had so much fun with those silly pics! Just pure goofiness!) I love handling and testing a lot of different dolls and doll bodies- it's nice to know how a variety of them work. cuz HYBRIDS RULE! Of course, nonhybrids rule too! What are those called? Purebloods? We need to make a name for that that is better than factory default.

So...I haven't been on here in quite a while. Plus, the thread updated since the last time I posted

I've been working on my custom color Sally girl the last couple of days. I decided to give her a new faceup, as well as file down the tip of hre nose some to round it out a bit. I just didn't feel like she was Korra before making the mod.

So...here's the updated version of her:

I'm still getting used to the new camera, and I took them at night, so I had to adjust the yellow levels a bit. I eventually plan to make a more accurate version of her attire once school and RL allow me the time.

One thing I absolutely love about Impl's custom colors is that they can be customized. I also love the range of colors that they can do! Their sculpts are also very nice. I think my favorite will always be Azalea

 

Well, I fell off the thread again (of course, I'm so busy, I only pop on here before going to bed ) But anyway, beautiful girl, @rubydoll ! Congratulations! And @jade-eyed-cat your Sally is really awesome, I love how she's so self assured! At least that is how I see her

Love pear XD @chalyss yeah, Iris has a tiny neck hole - the rest of the body looked okay proportionally. And hybriding opens up so many new possibilities - plus it's fun playing with different bodies. It was kinda funny when I got my Aigne head for the Model body my Tdelia had moved on from. I got the clothes out ready to see how they'd fit my new girl...then realised that they'd fit exactly the way they fit Tdelia, obviously! Hmm, pure bloods? Pedigree? Vanilla? I'm sure there's a word in my head somewhere but I can't grasp it!

@jade-eyed-cat your girl looks fab. Nice work on the nose job, it looks very natural. And I like the pose too

Now I'm contemplating to get a matching resin colour Impldoll head to go along with my star female body.
Does the 70cm ones like Azalea or Delia fit well with the star body? Extra points for pictures!

@konstrain Are you talking about the old star body or the new? I believe the new Star body can share any of the newer heads, no problem. I really don't know why they separate the heads "idol" vs "star" because I'm quite sure they are interchangeable?

Speaking of which, do Impldoll email when they ship? I still haven't heard from them
