Fairyland PukiPuki Discussion Part 24

Jun 28, 2022

    1. Guys, do you know if 5mm round eyes is too small for pukipuki, I know the recommendation is 8mm, but I like how 6mm look better, but I only found 5mm eyes that look really good on realpuki but Im not sure if it will be too small (the white area) for puki...

    2. I think it will be too small, the eye openings are surprisingly large on pukipuki

    3. Yeah, I better not take the risk...

      • x 1
    4. I have only one PukiPuki (Pong) and I measured his eye openings. Horizontally they are 6 mm, so 5mm would definitely leave a gap. The size of the eye opening may vary from sculpt to sculpt but 5 mm may be too small for most.

    5. Thank you so much for measuring it! I will try the 6mm than

    6. Here's Poks sitting on his bed. He has got 8 mm eyes.

    7. My puki wear 7mm eyes, but I still think it looks too big. Is the iris for sure, I wish I could find 8mm with smaller iris...

    8. There is a seller on Etsy - Sherrieneilson1 - who makes eyes and you can specify the size of the iris and the eye. I have bought some of her eyes for some of my smaller bjds and they are really nice. She also sells them in her own shop - HeartofaFairy.com .
Anyway, I just dropped in because I am waiting on a Choco Puki Rose and I am very excited to receive her! The photos of your PukiPukis are so adorable. I can't wait!

    9. Thanks for the tip, they have very pretty options!
Wish your doll will arrive soon and make you really happy!

    10. I'm glad you like the eyes. That has been my go-to shop for my tiny dolls' eyes.

I actually now have 2 pukipukis coming! I am very excited. I have wanted a pukipuki for about 2 years now and have kept missing them. Now I have found 2. My wallet is obliterated but I am ecstatic! Of course there was also another type of doll I was looking for that also came up at the same time and I had to get her, so I am cut off now for pretty much the rest of the year  When it rains it pours! I cant wait to get these two little dolls and see how cute they look together!:love

    18. Adorable! The freckles bring out her eyes even more, and somehow, of all the Pukis I have seen, the cat ears are a perfect fit.

It's the Year of the Puki here, apparently. I'd been regretting selling mine for a while, and after narrowly missing a couple, I managed to get my hands on a Cupid whose ears have been removed. It's been a dog's age, but I'm slowly working on sculpting some big, floppy ones to replace them. Cupid was on my wishlist, and I've always wanted to see a Puki with bigger ears, so really it was a win-win.

And then the craziest thing. I'd been checking Mandarake without luck, and on a whim decided to try Yahoo Japan. Lo and behold, there was a Piki with all the extras in his box for a grand starting bid of $23. I bid... and nobody else did. The proxy put him in the post today. I'm praying that he (Or she) gets her safe and soon.

What are everyone's favorite Puki molds? Mine is Flora, followed by Pipi, Cupid / Cupid3, Ante, and Ruby.

    19. Mine is Pukisha-I love that sweet little kitty!

    20. Mine are Pukisha and Cupid 3. I just have a Pong right now.

    21. I honestly like them all. I am actively looking for a Pong right now. It is funny. When I first saw the Pong face, I really didn't like it, but now it has really grown on me so that it is one of my favorites. They are just so happy!

    22. Dropping by to share a pic of my own Rose, Milkshake (shown here with the blue yarn wig made by me, and her friend Jellybean my Felix Brownie Nene. She still has her original 2007-era FL faceup, though her lips have chipped since. These macrame mini plant hangers from Michaels made the cutest chairs for them!

These two keep me wanting more teenytinies, lol, it's a problem!

    23. They are cute! I like the fantasy colors of the wigs! My Rose’s wig was made from left-overs from a wig I made for a bigger doll. She is very jealous of the pretty colors your’s get to wear!

      • x 1
    24. Aw, thanks! <3 The great advantage of this size is how out of scale they are for other dolls, even as babies, so they just get to be their own little sprites and fairies and do as they please lmfao. Milkshake is best friends with one of my 62cm boys, and prior to the chairs she lived on his knee lol!

I love your Rose's wig though, it looks so cute on her!! And so soft <3

    25. My favorite is Pong. I have three of them. Mookie and Mimi are brother & sister. Mickey is the friend. I also have several other PukiPukis but that happy little Pong face always makes me smile.

      pukipuki ante
      by Jordan Roth, on Flickr

I got my hands on my grail doll. She's a little yellowed and her face has some staining, but I'm in love.

      • x 11
    27. Congratulations! She's a beauty. I regret trading my Ante so much. A little yellowing isn't a big deal in the long run; she looks great. Perhaps you can even commission a better faceup down the road.

Love seeing everyone's favorite sculpts, and how diverse our tastes are despite all being in this one line. Each one of us sees something different in a face.

Nene! I used to have an elf-eared one- also regret selling him. Regret sending all three of them really. Tinies are addicting. They're so travel-friendly and easy to pose. Those macrame plant holders make capital chairs. They'd look neat in a fairy garden or a sitting room diorama.

Bad picture is bad, but Piki is here. It was difficult to slog through the work day, knowing that s/he was waiting for me at home. Still can't believe I scored a legit Puki for $23. Overseas shipping made it closer to $48, but still. S/He is pristine, box, metal plaque, postcards, resin parts, wig, and all. The only thing I didn't get was a sleeping plate. I'm stoked to finish Cupid's ears and paint so they can enjoy each other's company.

    28. Oh wow! You found an Ante! she's so cute! I can't wait to see more pictures of her! She doesn't look very yellow in the picture.

    29. What happened to pukipuki?? Why are they basically only found secondhand?? Are they not being produced by fairyland anymore???

    30. The general PukiPuki and RealPuki lines have been on "hiatus" for a while, but there's not been an official cancellation. We've seen a couple of special releases, but no basics to order. From what we heard at the time, they were changing systems and needed to narrow their focus for a bit, but I'm sure the pandemic derailed them further. However, they list both lines on their new website, so I would not give up hope yet.

      • x 4
    31. Tragic.. I'll be waiting patiently then! It's true that they're probably not cancelled. I haven't checked in a while but last time I did, I saw that pukipuki was still showing on the website just not available to order.

I still need to get this little one a wig. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to mind being bald too much.

    34. Pukipuki is my life, it was my first legit doll and right from the start I was in love for the tiny size.
Being able to take her in pocket when I was having a bad day, it just turn thing easier...
but noticing bigger dolls collector, or even my slight bigger dolls (yosd), I realized the clothe have so much more quality when they are made for bigger dolls (probably since its so hard to sew for such a tiny size), so now I decided to hunt great clothes for my doll.
She has a fairy based character (actually, I would rather call it "elementar"), she is nature being who got separated from her fellows and end up found by a human, and now she lives between us. She mostly use dresses, but can also dress other things since she is learning to mimic human behavior.
The question is: Who has clothes seller recommendations? I mean, it can be very simple, but I want well done. If is not the really expensive kind (like those OAK and custom mades) than its better.
      Thank you all!

    35. I found an Ante! I had to redo her face-up since it was a little damaged. I really love Ante. We might have to go on a lot of adventures together! I now have her as a PukiPuki, Pukifee, and LittleFee.

    36. I just realized I never shared Giacomina, my PukiPuki Ante, in this thread! I'm still on the hunt for a second one to be her twin brother... Here she is in a dress I made for her from an Obitsu 11 pattern, and the matching shoes.

Also, I did reach out to Fairyland to ask about the status of the little dolls! Just because it's been so long, and I wanted to confirm there were still plans to bring them back someday. Here's what they said:

I thought other people might be interested in the answer, even though it doesn't really tell us anything particularly new.

    37. That’s disappointing but at least they do have plans to bring them back, thanks for sharing the information.

    38. Denver Doll has some quality clothes made for Puki Puki. I just received an order with overall sets for my duo. Super cute, and good quality.

    39. And what a cute army it IS, too! The little baby in her oversized sweater... I love Ante's face so much, at every size.

    40. OMG love their dresses, I will sure buy it. Thanks for the tip!

    41. Your welcome! Happy to share my favorite source for cute clothes!

    42. Merry Christmas from Opie (my choco tan Pipi). It sure would be nice if we would get some more Pukipuki's from FL at some point.
This little guy is the only one I currently have and would love to add another one eventually.

    43. I realized I never shared pics in this thread of Mina, my Ante, in the dress I made for her to celebrate a friend's doll's birthday! This was made from an OB11 pattern scaled down to about 90% of the original size, which fit great--I probably could have made more alterations, though.

      • x 7
    44. She is a cutie! But I thought ob11 fit perfectly pukipuki...

      • x 1
    45. These patterns have all turned out too large, so I don't know about "perfectly"--it's certainly very close though, and for pre-made items maybe less of an issue? I don't have a lot of OB11 things around to compare.

    46. Oh gosh, I'd really love a PukiPuki Ante..............has anyone heard anything about whether or not FL plans to release anymore PukiPuki's at all? I would even love if they did some event releases like they have done with the Realpuki's and Realfee's.

    47. I really hope they do. Pukis are a favorite but I only have two and an RP/pukipuki hybrid, and I would totally buy more.

    48. I originally had three, a tan one, a white one and a natural one and sold the white and natural thinking I would replace them with different sculpts later and poof.........all of a sudden they were discontinued and haven't been seen since! I would love a little Ante girl. Maybe one of these days.

    49. I was wondering the same thing so I sent them an email a few months ago. The reply I got was essentially a yes, but they weren't sure when. I think I mentioned this before, but the person in charge of the smaller lines has been in poor health for the last few years, and the pandemic has meant they're really struggling to source things like boxes and so on for them. I really hope they do, too, because I want another Ante to be Mina's brother!

    50. Pukipuki Ante swapped dresses with my Nendoroid Kaguya Shinomiya and it was a success!
A good reminder for me: there's plenty of Nendoroid and Obitsu11 clothing on Etsy.

    51. I just "got back" a doll I used to own in two different forms before! Pukipuki Cupid! Such a sweet little face. Now Pip (puki pipi) has a friend again. But this time, I think this Cupid is a girl.

The cupid I had before was named Timmy- this one is a Tilly.

    52. Hey, all!
I bought a Nendoroid "Inventor" costume from Amazon for my Pukipuki Ante. Love the detail but the stiff sleeves don't allow Ante's arms to bend. The Nendoroid shoes won't work, so the pictured shoes are Ante's. Still love the clothes, though!
      Have a SUPER June, everyone!

    53. She is soooo pretty, her outfit has a ton of details, which is insane for such a tiny size :)
I love pukipuki, hopefully one day they’ll come back and I’ll be able to buy one

    54. THat looks amazing! Maybe you could make new sleeves out of something jerseyknit and put those cuffs on the ends of them.

    56. I'm back with pictures because... I finally have my Ante twins! Mina and her brother Camille are together at last. ♥ I'm having so much fun making them tiny little outfits, I can't wait to build them a whole matching wardrobe.
