    3. Wow, looks like I'm making it to the first page of both threads I participate! So, here's Ramune' on her motorcycle :)

    4. Rose and Miku being cute!!!

Question for everyone: I have been very unmotivated with naming my dolls lately. Some I have had for a year and haven't been named!! To be fair, I haven't had much time for dolls lately with my 10-month old, but I seem to be stuck in a rut!! Any naming tips to get my brain motivated?

      • x 2
    5. Darkwind your girl is awesome! Love her motorcycle!

Redmaiko your girls are lovely! What sculpt is the tan girl with the white hair? I will be curious to see if anyone has advice on names. Some of my dolls have names and some just go by their sculpt names.

    6. Her sculpt is Rose. Yup she is one of the nameless ones. I feel bad about that. :doh

    7. My dolls usually have some aspect worked out by the time they come home... whether it's the name itself or a part of their setting or a glimpse at their personality. I usually concentrate on that part of them that I do know about in order to figure out the rest. :) Setting and personality are my stepping stones... I pick a style of clothing that I think suits them or an activity they might enjoy the most and then go looking for names that just "sound" like they match. Sometimes it takes a few trials of saying the name aloud. Sometimes, if I'm having particular trouble, I just go through name websites and pick out a particular letter that seems to jump out at me, or I write down ALL the names I like the sound of and then try to narrow them down little by little, haha.

My PukiPuki is named after food, because she's a Pong and it seems like her favorite things are bright colors and food, and partially because the alternate name of the food is a pun on "to form a bond," referring to how she happened to be an anniversary present. :)

New thread! A little solo Iah to start it off!

I wish I could help you redmaiko but names are one thing all my dolls have had when they got to me.....or even ordered. I usually have just got them looking at their faces. Iah is the only exception - I had named Set and then when looking for a name to work with him. Since Set is one version of the name of the Egyptian deity, and I was in an Egyptian mythology kick, I went and found another that I felt fit with him in some way. Is your Rose particularly attached to any of your other dolls?

    9. Oh, first page! :)

I don't get to play with my dollies much these days between running the house, running a craft business, and two little girls under 5... but they stand on my little shelf and bring me such joy every time I look up. I'm hoping to make some room to start working on their "monster house" soon. Please ignore the fact that I've been saying that for nearly 3 years x-x lol

As for names... I tend to look up a "meaning" and pick a name from there. I also like names that have an easy nickname (Cammy for Cameron, Cin for Lucinda).

    10. It's been so long, but wanted to unhide for a moment lol, thanks guys for the tips because I feel the same way. I just got a new to me doll and still no name =/ feel kinda bad for the cutie. Anywho, everyone's photos are super cute ^^
Don't know how to add a Flickr photo from my phone to here. I always do it through my laptop sooo here's a try. https://flic.kr/p/nTo7kM

    11. For me, when I choose names, I often go to my favourite books, movies or video games for inspiration. My Pukipuki all have Harry Potter inspired names, for example (Weasley, Flit and Crumb). I got Flit first, but Weasley was already planned, so I picked a name for Flit to match the same pattern, and did the same with Crumb when I ordered him. My mum names her pukis and realpukis after music terms and composers for the most part. Often, I have needed to find a bit about the character before the name comes to light, though I usually know who they are before they arrive - the exception being my LTF Nanuri, who was characterless until FL released LTF Rose and I ordered her, and then the two girls became Usa and Tux, whose characters are very tied together. I've named dolls for skin colours (I have a purple skinned doll named Violet) and inspired by their sculpt names or limited releases (Sculpt is Donut, name is Miela, from the french word for honey, and a lion themed limited release named Saja, Korean for lion). I think it is important to get to know your dolls in order to find their names - figure out what they represent. And I think its a very personal thing that is different for everyone. Trolling baby name websites is a great place to start. Sometimes switching eyes or wigs around helps to. And I often find I have characters before I know who they will be in doll form, as I have built pretty elaborate backgrounds for my dolls.

I find it really interesting to hear how others have come up with the names for their dolls! Everyone seems to do it a little bit differently!

    12. Thanks guys! These are all great ideas and I agree it is really interesting to see how others come up with names. I think I currently have 4 or 5 without names. :( I hope to fix that this week and I will try everyone's suggestions. Usually I don't name mine until they are home because I never know how they will look or how their personality will turn out. If I set up a character beforehand, it always changes. LOL Thank you so much!!

    13. Pong's new winter outfit arrived today. I am SO past pleased and amazed with the quality. I cannot recommend MaramBanu any more than this. Just amazing!

    14. i have several without names too, but most of the time my names are only tentative anyway until they have face/eyes/ hair and let me know what style of clothes they want to wear ( when i first started out, i thought i would get to pick all of that for them, but was soon disabused of that notion when they started refusing to wear anything but their own choices ) anyway once they have made their choices i find it much easier to find their names.
i do much of what other people do, favorite characters from books, variations on my favorite authors (ie jack and lewis for c.s.lewis) looking up names with specific meanings for baby websites to see if any of them suit, and i also have regular and celtic baby name books left over from when i used to make bears and had to come up with names for all of them. i usually keep a list of possibilities/ names i'd like to use and then see if any of fit. some pick their names right away, some take a few months before i get it right.

    15. All mine were named before they arrived, although in Elly's case I actually had a list of 4 or 5 to narrow down. Then Marvin's was chosen from that list since the original idea was to have an alternate expression for Elly, which did not work out at all.

Turns out, Marvin is ME, when I was little. Pulling his face actually gets me favorable results ;)

    20. Thank you :) The snowman is really cute :)

    21. [IMG]"No exterminating in the house!" by ladymadrigal80, on Flickr

Daisy, my Ante. She wasn't the first FL doll I ordered, but she was the first to arrive.

A friend actually suggested her name, but I think he was thinking of the movie "2001," when HAL loses it and starts singing the song about the bicycle built for two.

    22. Most of my dolls 'name' themselves. I'll just be looking at pics of dolls that are on my wishlist, and a name will just pop into my head. Except with one doll who I haven't shelled yet, who is an OC as a partner for my MNF. I agree with baby name books, or read articles online - my MNF was named because of a shop owner's name was mentioned in an article on Etsy!

Otherwise, your two puki are just adorable! I love the fox sweater :D

    23. Eeeek! A Dalek! On of my off-topic kids has one... I definitely need more pics of him with his toys.

    24. Lubelle: Me too! Currently I have dolls named "Arrietty," "Lila (From Sweet Valley High)," and "White Fang." Incidentally, on my wish list is a Supia doll whom I will name "Sanme" from Cloud Atlas. As for Harry Potter: I don't have any dolls named for those characters, but I have a dark-blonde, frizzy/curly wig that I named "Hermione" LoL!!

Spring Pukisha 5 by Mandasmac, on Flickr

Actually, I learned something interesting when I wrote to Fairyland about naming my Pukisha: I wanted to know what the translation of "White Fang" was in Korean, and the person who wrote me back said that that book was called "Wolf-Dog" in Korea because that's what the character literally is.
BTW: White Fang literally translates as "Hayan Umni" ;)

    25. Hi everyone! My Delphi has just got Ersaflora eyes =^.^=

    26. Danger of donating to a thrift store/charity shop: a Fisher Price doll house for only $10. Guess what came home for my puki's?

    27. Do you have pics? That must be the perfect size.

      • x 1
    28. oh that is great, what amazing potential there!

    29. I've been planning out my future puki family a bit more today.

FL Choco Puki Lilly (Werewolf) Female
      FL WS Flora (Ghost) Female
      FL WS Madeline (Skeleton) Male
FL WS (to dye grey) Kanu (Gargoyle) Male

The chances of me finding a choco Lily seems slim... I'm considering just caving and getting her in tan next event... but part of me is hoping... so part of me wants to just get another mold in tan to make into another monster. But I can't decide which type of monster.

    30. That is the perfect size! Congrats.

    31. I'm getting all sorts of advice and suggestions on how-to's :D

    32. There is so.much great stuff for dollhouses out there.

    33. Hi guys!
I had a rough year. I got divorced and learned to live by my self again after seven years. Now that I am spending time with my dolls again and start to relight this hobby I found out that fairyland did sell tan pukipukis and I miss it. So dose any one know is there coming tan event any time soon? I keep dreamming about choco/tan Pipi, Cupid, Ante, Flora, Pongpong, Niko and Rose, but I guess they have to stay as dreams...:/

    34. No, there is no infornation about that, but there probably will be.

    35. Fairyland has just released tan pukifee/littlefee/minifee for the second time, about a year after the first. If the pattern holds, tan pukis should be available in the spring. :)

    36. Ladymadrigal your Daisy is so cute! Is she friends with the dalek?

    37. Lubelle Thanks! I am so happy to hear that and can hardly wait...:D

    38. I am ever so excited. I finally have my pukipuki Pukisha......(I still need the OE plate), but I am so happy. This is the last doll I have been wanting lately, and she is almost complete. Her hands and feet are on the way.......:)

    40. I was lucky enough to find a sweet little Flora to replace the one I foolishly gave as a gift to a person who turned around and immediately sold her. This is Fleur-and as soon as I can she will be getting a new wig and eyes.
      I just love her!

    42. Fleur looks great! Still waiting on my Ante Pukipuki.

    43. Thank you both. I put her in with my other Pukis, and realized that she is #15-I didn't know I had 14 other little ones running around here!

    44. Argghhh...that is a whole lot of PPs

    45. I've been collecting them for over 6 years!

    48. Names. Hah! and again I say, hah! Before the Pookster arrived, Wiishu misread the name on a package from his Momma-D to the as yet unnamed pukisha. Wiishu read "pukisha" as "pookishu" (His spelling) and the name just stuck. Personality wise, I have absolutely no preconceptions. All depends on what comes out of that cool little fairyland box.

    49. I can finally join in with this thread!
Sweetiemom I am sorry that the gift you gave your friend was not received well. It must have been very upsetting to you. I am happy that you have another Flora to replace the one you gave away. I am slightly envious of your large puki family but I guess after six years that is what happens!! They are the cutest bunch ever.

Call Me Stephanie your little 'monsters' are adorable too! I'm sure they are well behaved Monsters too ;-) Please tell me who the 'big girl' is. I must say that she drew me in with her gorgeous face.

PinkPanther, That is an adorable photo and I was so mesmerised by the boots that I had to leave here for a minute and visit Etsy! two pairs of booties for my incoming girls........naughty me!!!

Vindalootoo โ€‹(love that name too~) Welcome to the new arrival as he creeps out of his fairyland box!

    50. Sweetiemom: I can't imagine ANYONE doing something like that! My sweet Wiishu was a gift and every time I look at him, I'm humbled at and impossibly grateful to Onna's generosity. I'm glad you managed to get her little spirit, if not the actual resin, back.

Pinkpanther: what starburst said. Too cute!

PrincessStarburst: Thank you! Pook's been around almost two years now! His personality is well developed. The pic is from his box opening (probably the longest on record.) It's here on DoA in the photostories section:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...hu-gets-a-widdle-brovver-Part-One-IMAGE-HEAVY
This is part one of...I think six? (Nope...that's in the original posting on my blog. I smooshed it into three here.) He and his brother have LOTS of photostories. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...A-Database&p=10060621&viewfull=1#post10060621

Although to truly get the picture of the effect he had on the house, you have to start with Christmas in the 2012 galleries. That's where Wiishu discovers there's going to be a new kid in the house.

Tanchela-555:Pooki says "Bwahahaha" and sends the fabulous Gil a card for the evile masters of the universe club.

    51. Hehe well Lucinda is lady-like but Cameron is a bit of a bratty little girl and some what naughty... but it makes her fun. ^_^

The big girl is Dollmore's new Mokashura line. :)

    52. There are so many cute dolls! I really enjoyed looking through the pictures. I would also like to join in and show my girl))

    53. Murka: She's adorable! I love the tan. I have all my fingers crossed they re-release tan pukis for Xmas so I can snag one. Squee!

    54. Oh Dear Sweetiemom, I'm so sorry to hear that. My daughter had a nightmare a few months after she gifted me my little Elly that I GAVE her away because somebody liked her, hadn't even had her more than a couple months! She watched me do it, and I just had this happy-go-lucky attitude about it all. Dreams can be so cruel.

      Elly, my gateway doll.

    55. My little Flora Fleur is slowly coming together-she has her eyes, now just waiting for her hair to arrive. In the meantime she borrowed a wig from her friend Sweetie (Sugar).

    56. Call Me Stephanie , Thank you, I am very pleased) My doll from the very first issue of Chocopuki and her tan a little darker than Fairyland doing now. I hope that your search is successful.

sweetiemom , your doll is very cute. I think, after all the changes it will become even more beautiful!
