Fairyland PukiPuki WIGS THAT FIT

Mar 19, 2011

    1. [IMG]

OK guys.... this is it. I would like to compile ONE THREAD wherein there are pics of wigs that actually FIT a pukipuki (without a lot of hullaballoo, reworking, glue, tape, cement, etc.) and then I will put this info into the wiki for all posterity.

I'm sure all of you have bought wigs you were TOLD would fit a pukipuki, only to find out they are huge as freakin' heck or even too small, gee whiz, and don't stay on. :| You might notice I don't even have Fairyland's own wigs on here - my Sugar wig is HUGE, falls off if you just pick the doll up. Humph.

So let's see if we can get our experts to weigh in. Please provide the name, the website if applicable, and if you DID have to do anything to it to get it to stay ON.

      From Left to Right:
      1) Jinkies (pong) in a MonstroDesigns wig (on etsy). It is a little small but with some gentle tugging, it fits better now. I have other monstro wigs and sometimes they are a bit small and sometimes too big. But I'm sure it's nigh impossible to sew this small, so I will put them on the list as being a good source for puki wigs.

      2) Lolly's doll in a Geinie Lillica wig (probably impossible to find but it stays on pretty well, the inside of the wig cap is sort of rubbery, which is why I think it stays on)

      3) Sparrow - in an orange Parabox wig http://www.parabox.jp/eng/wig-01.html this wig is a TINY bit big but it does stay on well considering, not like other wigs that, literally, fall off as soon as you touch the doll

      4) Lolly's little Soso -- NOTE, her Soso is on a pukifee body. Wig by Harumika, from a Harumika Mannequin doll. You can find them in some TRU shops and on ebay. Beware it will STAIN and ALSO IT IS TOO SMALL FOR A PUKI. But since her Soso was in the pic, I wanted to acknowledge it. Fits her EXTREMELY well, has a stretchy headcap. Beware also, NOT all Harumia mannequins have wigs, some are rooted.

      5) Juniper Snowpea, who was NOT invited into the shot since her wigs are too small for pukis, but she sidled in anyway before I noticed. :|

      Let the games begin! :fangirl:

Please everyone - let's make this instructional, can we keep the squee to a minimim? Thank you!!!!!!!!

    2. Hi Sher,

I agree with Lolly, making this thread was a great idea! It can be so frustrating when even Fairyland's own wigs don't stay on the little bugger's heads that they themselves manufacture! Argggghhh! :doh But I do have an Ashes style wig that I got from from Jpop (www.jpopdolls.net), that fits my Pukipuki Chocolate Cupid (Kahlua) just great. I think these might be Monique made wigs, and although the French Ink shade I bought is sold out, Jpop does still show two other colors available on their website. I'll try to add a picture of Kahlua modeling this Ashes wig in the next day or two.

      Juli DC :)

    3. I use a Lilica wig I got with Fee for Indigo, it's from AngelRegion (now Soom). It fits great. You should be able to use Volks Dollfie Plus wigs as well. Amy's wig is a Tinybear mohair wig, and I know 1mim also makes wigs for Puki.

I got my Sugar's wig from the now nonexistant Poshdolls a gazillion years ago. She was a great source for smaller wigs.

I use Aileen's Tacky Glue to keep wigs on.

    4. Great idea for a thread! Pukipuki wig search can be so troublesome ^^.
Has anyone tried Glib 3-4 inch wigs?

    5. When I still had my Pukis I had the boy in a 4-inch wig from Parabox, and it fit really well. Your mystery orange wig might be a Parabox wig as well!
      http://www.parabox.jp/eng/wig-01.html

    6. See Sher...I think it's personal preference because your Pukis' wigs look kind of small to me. Macchiato's wigs are all from Fairyland and fit well with Velcro. this one is my favorite though:

Thanks Spampy! by reinedelaseine14, on Flickr

    7. I have a 4 inch short mohair Parabox wig that fits my Puki and stays on great without any help, but it could be a rare anomaly. I also have a Tabloach wig that fits perfectly due to the stretch in it, and that's pretty much the only two Puki wigs I've ever been able to get to stay on! I had an unidentified auburn natural fur wig which was gorgeous, but no matter what I tried it would never stay on, including dampening it down on the head so that it would "mold" itself. Not to mention it dragged the ground, lovely as it was.

      Great thread!

    8. Hmm lets see: On my Ruby I have her fullset default from FL which was a bit loose but a velcro dot has helped with that.
My Pong is wearing a commissioned Purple fur wig from Akasarushi™ Which fits beautifully!
My Sugar is wearing a wig from JpopDolls but I don't know which one it is as a friend bought it for me, it's a long black one with a fringe/bangs. This is a little on the small side but is stretchy however it stays on with velcro.
My Mary is wearing a wig from MonstroDesigns and fits okay
And my Cupid3 has his fullset default from FL. It's a little too big but the hat keeps it on well.

    9. I agree that it is kind of personal preference on some, depending on if you use something to keep your wigs on and how well you want them to fit. I use a silicone wig cap on the majority of mine.
      Clockwise from top left:
*Dreaming Lily has the Fairyland black bob and it stains so I have to have a wig cap which also keeps it on as it likes to pop off.
*Madeline is wearing a MonstroDesigns Faux Fur wig which fits perfectly with no help needed.
*Ante is wearing a wig by Fatiao (on evilbay), which is cute but has a very shallow wig cap and even the silicone wig cap doesn't always keep it on.
*Pong is wearing a Monique size 4 and I do have a silicone wig cap on her (more to keep it from staining as red has that tendency), but Monique wigs are awesome as they are stretchy so it fits perfectly.
*Ruby has the wig from the Caramel Lily Fullset, but again the wig cap is very shallow so I have to use a silicone wig cap.
*Tasuki (my boy Pong not pictured but is in my avatar) has a tabloach wig, which fits perfectly!
      Hope this helps!

    10. I've also had wigs from Blushed Roses and Sewaddicted that don't need anything to stay on! I actually wrecked my Sewaddicted one...I literally loved it to wig death lol.

Lua also had a Monique one that fit really well without help and I had a Tinybear wig that my Sugar used to wear...I've had a LOT of Pukis and therefor a lot of wigs lol

    11. Yay I can contribute a little to this :)

Cato is wearing a wig from For My Doll and it is a little bit gappy next to the ears (but I seem to find this very quickly of wigs) but it fits very nice. It's like not so tight that you have to stangle it on or that it pops of or anything, but it's also fitting enough to stay on when she's held upside down. Definatly a better fit then the Fairyland wigs and beautiful quality. Also they have loads of colors and will make custom colors and wigs for you :)

This one is also from FMD and while it fits great I didn't like it as much because the hair seems to stand so unnatural. Ofcourse that's totaly personal preference.

    12. Fairyland's default wigs are so hit or miss.

I have had two mohair wig from Fairyland and they both fit wonderfully.
The default Choco Cupid's also fit excellent without any extra help.... BUT!

The default Cupid wig just does not fit! It slides off even with a silicone wig cap!!
So I was wondering if anyone know one that is similar in shape that will fit? (short and slightly curly)

Picture of said wig on the right.

    13. Can someone tell me if the Monique size 4 wigs fit Pukipuki, or must is be size 3/4? I have searched, but I don't think Monique sells size 3/4 wigs, so I'm crossing my fingers that size 4 will work! Thanks!

    14. I've been looking for a black braided wig for my Ruby since I got her and I can't find one. Does anyone know where I can get one?

    15. Ok I have a LOT of wigs.

      Brands:
Parabox 3/4 are my favourite ones. (They are also called Obitsu, there are a lot of obitsu on ebay too). They fit so well, and they have a wonderful orange-red (this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3290934592/ ). I have bought something like 10 and they're all wonderful! Be prepared, the long ones are reeeeeally long! http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/2834480504/

Fairyland wigs depend from the model.
      - I've found that cupid wig has a very small cap and hardly stays on (yes, I hate that wig too!). http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3362732800/
      - Bob wigs are ok (a little large on ears, but that's common. Almost all bob wigs are made that why, I don't know why. I think FL has the better bob wigs indeed). Sometimes to make them fit better (but I'm talking about the hair, not the cap) you may have to keep them in form. Like on the head of the doll with that little net on them.
      - Long, straight wigs like this are wonderful. http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/5528024576/ This is my favourite wig EVER. And the pink one too.
      - Long, wavy wigs are... let's say normal. The cap fits well but the hair is a bit too "opened". http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/5439387808/ (the blond one) and the light blue one http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3675563243/
      - bob wigs with two little curls or braids on both sides are a bad fit. They are even larger than the usual bob wig.
      - I have a realpuki wig, and it's my second favourite. It's from the Soso fullset. http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/5267791047/

Leeke and Lati wigs have the same fit of Fairyland wigs. I think they're made by the same manufacturer, they're almost the same...
      - Lati wig is cute but a bit large http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/4544483822/

      - Leeke mohair are awful. http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3963782033/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3963780961/

For boys I suggest tabloach wigs which are perfect, or I also use Volks Who's That Girl boyfriend wigs but they have to be carefully cut near the ears. Nothing difficult.
      WTG boyfriend wigs - http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3840458544/ - http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/3487134158/

I have a Monique wig called "infant wig" or something similar which I usually use on my pongpong, but it's not a real wig. It's some kind of toupee. I just put little bands of bihadesive tape in the places where hair would go... Ok I can't explain it. But it doesn't ruin the wig and I like the effect it does. Here you can see it stays on even if I shake him XD http://www.flickr.com/photos/annetta/5533482166/

Ok I hope this helps. I think I may have a couple of other brands but right now I don't remember...
There are 2 photos that may be useful.

I know you asked only good fits, but I think it may beuseful to say if I like a wig or not and why... There are wigs that have caps which fits very well and then the wig it's not so good...

    16. Annetta, you ROCK! what great information!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

OK so here is Sparrow (Ante) and Jinkies (Pong) in a couple parabox wigs I just got. both fit very well. I had to cut several inches off the purple wig and I think I had to cut Jinkies' bangs too but I can't remember.

    17. This is incredibly handy, so I'm bumping it up.

I still haven't gotten a Puki (one day, some day!) but my friend has 3, and 2 use Parabox wigs to great results. The third is a FL wig that's hot glued down. :sweat

    18. My 2 cents...

My favourite is 4ich Parabox wig - princess curls, platinum blond. It fits well, but I had to trim forelocks a bit since they were almost hiding her eyes:
Before this wig arrived, she was borrowing PocketFairy bob wig. It's 4.5 inch - bigger than necessary, so I had to put something under it, but it looked pretty well, and allowed more neck movement than similarly-shaped Fairyland wig (perhaps it's just my problem, but I can't make her look up in a "native" bob-2-braids wig):

    19. this is awesome im studing to get a pukipuki so things like this super help thank you

    20. I just got a 4in parabox wig for pippin, my pukisha (pictures ASAP) the wig cap seemed FAR too big for her, and I still need help to keep it on (although i am trying to figure it out) and i did need to cut her bangs, but it is very cute and just the right color.
it is a bit gappy around the ears, but the rest of the hair hides it.

my sister uses a wig from the market place for her pong, i belive it was made by teseya? I can't remember i got it for her just after pongpong was first released a few years back.

I also have two Kemper Doll wigs, one blue, one silver, they are long, and quite stiff and they do need some help keeping on ( i use blue tac) but they are very cute!

    21. Where can I get a silicon wig cap that fits, I've tried ordering several and they are all too big!

    22. Has anyone tried other fashion doll wigs like Sybarite or Fashion Royalty wigs? Barbie are supposed to fit...I have no experience with any of these.

    23. Tinybear suggests using the end of a disposable glove. Alternatively tacky glue is great for securing wigs on tinies, and they peel off when you want to change them.

    24. you can also use a balloon, a small one or a tube balloon (the ones to make balloon animals)
cut off the end and stretch over the puki head.
depending on the size I sometimes use just a band of the balloon
(multiheads are a bit difficult I think...)

    25. Can I vent about my wig troubles here? Is there a venting subforum? :vein

I'm seriously starting to think that there are no wigs that fit. And, sadly, I feel like people misrepresent their wigs in photos when they sell. :crushed

Here are my most recent wig purchases. The brown wig is from fa-tio on ebay, here's how they show the wig.
The second is from a seller here and they showed the manufacturers picture which makes it look like the wig fits.

I'm going mad! I guess Obitsu and Parabox wigs are my next stop? This is making me crazy.

    26. Nadja, I feel your pain. I think glueing the wig with tacky glue to the head can work wonders and trimming the wig if required. Hats/headbands can also help to flatten the wig to the head. Mimisstuff has the pink wig and it looks fine on her puki with a headband http://www.flickr.com/photos/26118463@N05/5912757888/in/photostream She also uses Monique Hannah in size 4 and trims them to fit (I find them too big!) and they look great. I'd be inclined to send a photo of the fa-tio wig to the seller and ask her for her opinion. Wigs themselves may differ too. The Leekworld tiny wigs fit quite well and the Brownie wigs from Mujoo fit too.

    27. Thanks Kayjay! I'm going to try hacking at these wigs to see if I can do anything with them. The thing that's really a bummer is that sending them back to the sellers (both overseas) is so expensive I might as well just keep the darned things!
I'll look into Leeke and Mujoo.

    28. FWIW, Barbie wigs, if you can find them work. I cannot vouch for FR wigs but one Sybarite I tried was too big.

Here is a Barbie wig I bought from a doll convention sales room a few years ago. I also have it in wine and yellow. It's a side part curly hair wig, supposed to be a Marilyn Monroe look. It was marketed for Silkstone Barbie dolls.

    30. hi,
      I am Fatiao.
      I'm sorry about this case.
I have sent new one to nadja.
And synthetic mohair can shape on yourself.

I have to say because Puki wig is too small and all handmade.
So a little tolerance, will become a problem.:doh

Now We have produced 4" size cap.:)
This will help the wig fixed.
I also think other ways to fit.
      Like magnet.
I will write the way to help everyone successfully to put on the wig.
Or everyone have other ways. Please advance us.
      Thank you.:)

      Fatiao

    31. Thanks Fatiao, I really appreciate you working with me. I will let you know when it arrives and how it works. The wig cap is a great idea. The brown with has a ton of hair and the cap is far too big so even with a patch of moleskin on the head it will not stay in place.

    32. Does anyone have pictures of how Volks Dollfie plus wigs fit ?
Considering getting one but unsure if it fits well.

    33. I am so glad I found this thread. I recently purchased a Fairyland Bunnee wig for Puki. She has a wig cap on and even with that the wig falls off her head when I pick her up. You would think Fairyland of all people would get it right since they produce the doll. That being said, it is a very cute wig.

    34. I am writing because I really need a wig... I haven't found it anywhere. I need a wig with a ponytail (and bangs, if possible), but it has to be a high ponytail so it has to be designed to be exactly a ponytail wig (Rubyred has a cute one with pigtails but it's blonde, and another one brown but I don't like it much). I have had the obitsu/parabox wig with two ponytails, and it was so bad... The shape was completely wrong for pukipuki.
      Do you have any links?
I need it in brown or red-brown, and not mohair or fur. :)

    35. Be careful with those "Brownie" wigs, people: I ordered two from either Ajumapama or Parabox. One was white "Fer", and the other was the dreaded "Cupid" wig (see next quote). Brownie wigs come with a metal plate glued into the scalp and its location doesn't co-ordinate with the double Puki head magnets. You can't ignore it either because the frisbee-thingy takes up too much room for the wig to fit properly until you remove it. I got mine out of the Cupid wig easily enough just by peeling/pulling. Because the "Fer" wig material was too absorbent, and I will have to try acetone or hot glue thinner/removing solution.

The "SoSo" and other mohair wigs from fairyland are Skin Caps: Made from pieces of leather, rather than strips of hair sewn onto a fabric wig cap (see next quote, again). I have the "Coco" brown long wig, two different short & curly white ones and the rabbit fur Pukisha wig. I like mine very much, but they need double-sided tape to stay on. Eye putty doesn't seem to be sticky enough. Also: I got mine a couple of years ago, and lately people have complained about the lack of quality in mohair from Fairyland.

The Leeke wigs are the wefted-and-sewn style of wig. Kemper makes good quality wefted mohair wigs, but it can be hit-or-miss finding Puki size.

Warning: flat-rate shipping at Volks USA seems to be about $12, regardless of the total weight or size of the things being ordered. I only shop there now if I have a big order that justifies the bigger shipping charge

Yeah, those are called "partial caps". They are popular right now because of the "reborning" hobby, and are considered to be most realistic for that "peach fuzz" effect. Pain in the ass for the rest of us, though!

Tee-Hee ~ Take your own advice, Annetta!! I remember a few years ago Tabloach made a high-ponytail "Classic Barbie" style wig for a Puki on request. Maybe she still takes requests...

About Rubyred Galleria: Do not buy the Kish "Riley" wigs to use on Pukis. Their heads are about the same size, but not the right shape. I bought a double-braid-with-bangs style called a "Dutch Braid". The quality was excellent, but the wig cap came down too far in back, and interfered with the neck-joint. It pushed my Puki's head forward and kept it from moving in general. I am still working up the nerve to trim it down; it requires me un-doing some of the braid-work in back and I don't know if I can re-braid them as nicely. I have not tried any "Riley" wigs from Denver Doll Emporium, yet. They might be made by a different manufacturer.

LASTLY: There are several wig tutorials right here on DoA. HERE'S one for a "Fer" wig...
~HERE is another using crochet that's been re-done on Flickr with step-by-step pictures. Even though it's written for crochet, I think you can adapt it for knitting, too ~ either way it's just a "skull cap" or "Beanie" with lots of extra dangly-bits.

    36. hi nadja .

Oh, I would also hate that, its a big problem to get a nice fitting wig. I had one size 4 Kemper wig, took it to the sewing machine to get a better fit, but its not perfect, but useful - my Puki don't have any other right now.

    37. I have two wigs from Monstro Designs and both fit very well, no silicone cap needed. Here's one of them (slightly trimmed).

Has anyone tried the 3-4" wigs from Glib / mudoll on ebay?

    38. Kcat.

Nice fit on the wig and cute doll/dress and the boots is so cute.

    39. Just cross posting here from the puki puki chat thread :)

So far for puki puki 3/4 wigs I have: 1 fairyland, 1 leeke, 1 volks dollfie plus, 2 faitio (on ebay), and 1 soom wig (yet to try that one, the rest fit great!)

I don't have a wig cap on. I have a puki puki flora and all do fit fine with out the cap, I still want to get one so they stay on better.

    40. I've got a question regarding Parabox wigs for PukiPuki. Which size should I choose? They got both 3.5" and 4" wigs, but I really don't know what would fit better... Or does it depend on the individual wig style?

    41. Reika: 3/4" will fit without a wig cap. 4" will need a wig cap because it's actually a teensy bit big. Size 4" is actually perfect for the Multi-heads!

If you don't mind laying out a bit more money, the same rule applies for Monique "Gold" wigs (artificial mohair) in 3/4" fit perfectly and are super soft & re-styleable!

    42. Thank you very much for your kind answer, GoodbyeKitty! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. ;)

And thank you for the tipp regarding Monique wigs. Now I only have to find an EU seller...

    43. I highly recommend 1Mim for her wigs, They are high quality and always fit beautifully! I have several that I ordered from her. She is the BEST! :aheartbea
      1Mim wigs

    44. Does anyone know if ElfDoll tiny wigs will fit Puki? I'm not sure what size they are. It doesn't say anywhere on their site.....

    45. I don't know if they fit, but the Elfdoll tiny head circumference is 7.5 cm, so a little bit less than 3 inch. I found that information by clicking on the left side menu (Elfdoll info => [TINY] Tiny Elf Doll's Dimensions & Comparison with CD). Hope that helps :-)

    46. All of my PukiPukis and RealPukis wear wigs from Tabloach. I'm happy with them. There is no trouble with fitting and they stay on! Before Tabloach, I bought a lot of others, both mohair and synthetic, because there are such cute styles but when I get them on the dolls there is just too much hair and it looks very out of scale.

      Merci

    47. Hi guys. Reviving this because I'm being all negative about the wig I ordered for one of my Pukis recently. It hasn't gotten here yet lol and I'm already anticipating that it won't work.

So I may need to be looking for a white-blond wig for one of my Guys. I've done this search before and come up with zilch, so that particular Puki just became someone else XD
He's back again, and in need of hair.

Also I may need a brown wig for one of my girls.

Boy first. Monique's Jojo in White Blond would be the ultimate grail wig for him, but they don't come that small (at least not that I can find). I generally go with fur for most of my tinies but I can't find one in the right color. Any help would be appreciated!!

Alternately, I would love to see Pukis in Jpop wigs. I really need to see scale and fit. I guess I can't see fit too well lol but if you could mention how well or not well it fits that would be fabulous! <33

      Thank you!

    48. I love this wig!!! Do you think fits well on a Lati White special ?

It is so difficult to find it, where I can find it please? I found only in blond hair

    49. Please someone can confirm or show pics how Volks Dollfie Plus wigs fit puki puki heads?
Thank you! I think volks wigs are wonderful and cute style... I really wish they could fit puki puki perfectly as the post I quoted say, without caps etc.

      Thank you!

    50. Do Lati White wigs fit on the pukipuki's ? I found a great seller of those.

    51. Thank you for the advice ☺️ I’m scared my poor Tinker (pukipuki Flora) will be bald forever!

    52. It's hard to me find a good wig, I have one Monique wig but it doesn't fit without wig cape.
