Yay new thread!! Tasuki says "Yo! Peace man!"

Here she is again, she followed me to work and was hiding in my locker!
Question for her name...

Amai=Sweet
Kichou=Precious

Which should I call her?

4. Sorry I've been AWOL for awhile...
my troop of tinies came to the Dairyland meet this weekend.
I have a bajillion more photos on flickr from the meet.

most of Chocopuki sugar- Eclaire, Puki polar bear Atari, Pukisha Nima. and Pukipuki Pipi- Ephiphany

5. Vampireketsuki: I'd go with Kichou ~ It reminds me of "koo-chi-koo-chi-koo."

White Fang made a new friend at our last meet …eventually :doh

8. Yay! New thread spam! Great pics, everyone!

Vampireketsuki, I LOVE your cutie - and what eyes are those? My vote on the name is Kichou - so cute!

9. Yay new thread!! Angel celebrates by giving tiny cupcakes to everyone!

10. Uh, the eyes she came with...? Got her from DDE so she had a set of eyes already, sorry I can't be of more help ^^; Sometimes they're grey sometimes blue, and sometimes purple, lol

11. Someone is celebrating the new thread!

12. A new thread already? I hope to take a pic of my latest Puki Puki, that has no name or proper wig, maybe that's the reason why she does not like me to well.

13. (Again to see more go here)

The family is finally together! Left, Seria, Brand New Purezza with a Hujoo Berry body. Center, Kichou, Right, Maia, Lunatic Queen

14. I thought I would post a picture of Teenie and Meenie. It's an older picture and not the most amazing quality... but I love the two of them together. :)

15. Wow that's the smallest Twilight book I've ever seen! lol

16. Just got my hand craft glass eyes from Safrindoll in 8mm for my Ruby and 'lo they do not fit. Quite miffed about that. Thinking I'm going to have to bevel her eyewells. Anyone with experience doing that have any reccomendations or tips?

17. Don't fit? :? I was just going to come in here gushing over Set's new Safrin eyes (also 8mm). Mine are great, but then again I have a Pipi and not a Ruby. Good luck on getting it sorted out.

So, now I have to gush. I love his new eyes. They are great colors (though that dome is funky!) and I don't get dark pits of doom for eyes!

I'm glad to have a pair I'm happy with that are more his color and not so dark I can't see....anything....

18. Go slowly. When I opened Poppy's eyes I was using a scrapbook "dremel-esque" tool that is battery operated and used a small tip. You may be able to carve a little with an xacto knife and then use the dremel to smooth the rough edges.

19. Oy! It's happened again! I'm not on one day and a new thread opens. I swear they wait until I'm not looking! ;oP

Monterey Jack is yummy! I just adore Tasuki.. he always makes me laugh. It must be his orange hair that makes him so cheerful. ;)

LM

20. Ahh Heavenschaos I'm so jealous your eyes fit! They looks great in him too. I love the eyes I got, they're the perfect colour and looks o pretty they just will not go into her eyewells :(

A scrapbook dremel? I had no idea such a thing existed, I'll have to keep an eye out for one. Thanks much for the advice, AalorRian. I guess we'll see how it goes. If I can just get some of that excess resin out it'll be good.

21. Heavenschaos Wow, love Set's eyes! Such vibrant colours are probably so much easier to photograph. I always get those dark pits of doom in my photos...

Popping in to share a photo. I'm so busy with my studies nowadays I haven't had much time to spend with my little pukis. I love coming to this thread and looking at the cute photos everyone posts ~ lifts my spirits up and keeps me going! ;)

22. I hope you can make them work, its no fun to get really nice eyes and then not have them fit in their head. That's part of what happened with Set's last pair.

Thanks :) They really are vibrant and easy to see.

She is so cute by the way, so much personality in that face up!

23. A new thread !!??

My pukies say Hi!

24. Right well I got into her head and carved away some of the offending resin so now I can put her eyes in.
The fit still isn't great and when I get a bevel I'll go at it again but at least she can wear them now.
Major emo slightly diverted!

25. She's adorable!

26. It was funny, my one other doll has very loose hands, and one of them were missing...
Wednesday I got this text from my sister 'I just found a tiny hand in my car'

Would anyone else find that nearly as hillarious (or relieving) as a doll collector?

And I was gonna do a three-doll shoot outside in the snow, but 0 to 5 degree wind chill? No thanks, I'll get 'em tomorrow before work...
But Kichou was still ready to go out
Kichou: The coat is too fluffy! I can't move my arms!

Love it! I know what you mean - some things are just best shared with other doll people:)

Kichou is a cutie!

28. I giggled...and realized that I've been infected by the dolly virus, too. :P

29. xhanthi: I'm glad you got them to work. Love that color, and the new face-up.
vampireketsuki: That is really funny, it made me think of a tiny moving puki/Addam's family hand! I like those boots too.

30. Nope, twas a Pullip hand ^.^
And if anyone uses Kelly clothes, just take the feet off, otherwise they will get stuck in boots...

31. They are a beautiful color, but may I ask which one? (My mind says its Melon!) Now I can't wait to see what kind of face up she'll end up with with the general look you've given her!

32. Thanks Sealion!
Aloririan It's pretty much my fav colour!
Vampireketsuki, that is just too funny!
HeavensChaos, that actually is her new faceup, I kept it very similar to the default because I really liked it with the exception of her lips and eyebrows, which are now fixed! :) hey eyes are 'Dark Mint'

33. Well dang you had me fooled on both! That is a gorgeous face up! You definitely kept it similar to the default, that's for sure!

34. I tried to do something different with a little more colour and less eyeliner, but I wasn't happy with it because when I put her back together she just didn't look like her anymore! So yeah, I wiped her face again and went back to the default look lol

35. I will "de-lurk" long enough to say how great all the pictures are! And, to confess . . . that I have gotten back into pukis in a big way. I had gone away from them (and gone ga-ga over Soom tinies) but you always come back to your first love and pukis were mine. So when I get the gang all together -- I've been puki buying like mad over the last little while -- I will have 7 of them!

Now to find wigs and clothes for them all . . . .

Keep the pictures coming!

36. Here's Epiphany, (pipi)
photo is by StacyinIl who took some AWESOME photos of my crew at the meet.

37. Oh? And what have you in your crew now? :)

I have an incomplete Piki (no faceup, clothes, wig, or eyes), a fullset chocoCupid, and a fullset Cupid3. I need a chocoLily, chocoPipi, NS Cupid and Cupid2, and at least one Pong (not sure if he should be NS or WS). Plus there are RPs to go with them... I'm guessing that I will have an army by the time I'm done. XD

LM

38. I have to correct myself -- I will only have 6 when all is said and done. (I guess I'm not trying hard enough.)

Let's see . . . I have Seth (a pukisha), Stevie (a Dark Ruby), Priscilla or Cilla as she prefers (a Madeleine - if that is spelled correctly!), Clive (a Chichi - my puki enforcer). A Piki is enroute (one of my favourite sculpts. I had one, got rid of it and have regretted it ever since) as is a Cupid (the second type, I think).

I would like to get a Mary and/or a Rose at some point. But sadly most of the pukis I want are now "sold out" at Fairyland.

39. Xhanthi: The faceup looks great, I didn't realize at first that it wasn't the default, and I have a ruby as well! I had purchased two pairs of those eyes a couple months ago, but I didn't want to bevel my pukis eyes so they just went to my multihead. The look lovely!
HeavensChaos: Love Set's new eyes!
Hyperchi: Gah! Your little pipi is so sweet!
gilou2310: Yay Chocopukis!! Adorable!
Vampireketsuki: Love that wig color! Stay warm!!
trinlayk: I was looking at her photos this morning. She got a lot of nice closeups! Your Epiphany is dressed in such a nice outfit!
Spensers_mom!! Welcome back! Haven't seen you around much lately. I look forward to the pics of your little ones!

Cassandra was trying to take a nice serious picture today, but was rudely interrupted by Tasuki!!

40. :XD: Ahahahaha!! Nude Tasuki photobomb! Poor Cassandra!

41. How do you guys get your Pukis to stay balanced on one foot?

42. She was devastated!!
LOTS of patience! Took me a good five minutes to get him balanced just right. Once you play around for a while you learn the dolls center of gravity pretty well. :)

43. everyone's babies are soooo cute.
yeah I'm going to have to do more close up shots....

Here's another StacyInIl shot, this one is my Atari-chan.

I think there's maybe 4 of the polar bear FP pukis among the Dairyland people.

44. I think they are rehashing at FL and will be back later. XD I wanted to get all the fps for each sculpt so I have a variety of 'expressions' for them. That's why I need to Cupid2 fps. ;)
Lol. That's such a little boy thing to do. Awesome picture.

LM

45. Hey puki thread think you guys can lend me a hand with a question? I know I've read a dozen different wig solutions here in the thread (as in keeping for staining and slipping) but can't properly remember a one at the moment. Because I'm still working on getting Set's wig to sit without slipping at any given moment and have a new doll with a interesting head shape coming, can I have suggestions for simple wig caps? I'm low on time to wait for anything or I'd probably look into actual wig caps and cross my fingers...

redmaiko - loving that Tasuki bomb there!

46. I believe rubber bands can be used as a solution. I have used them before and they work pretty good, just make sure the rubber band is clean or it can stain. I learned that the hard way :sweat

Hey everyone, I'm making some clothes for my pukipuki & pkf and I wanted to know what closures are usually used for their clothes. So far I don't have any bought clothes so I don't really know how the closures work, especially on hoodies or the tops that look like hoodies but have a giant banded head opening (I don't know if I'm explaining that well). I hope this is ok to ask, I know people make these to sell but I didn't want to buy one and then completely steal the design.

47. I think it might be better to ask in the Sewing forum, but I can tell you about the FairyLand hoodie I bought secondhand. It's the black-and-white striped one. The hood is sewn halfway down the back of it and left open completely in the back of the body and halfway up the back of the hood so you can put it over your doll's head. The edges of the open part are hemmed and have tiny snaps sewn to keep the hoodie closed once it's on.

It's very similar to this pattern, which is what I used to make a hoodie for my PukiFee, but you'd have to scale it down for PukiPuki.

48. HeavensChaos: I never used wig caps the several month I had my dolls, but I modify a wig that was slightly bigger to make it fit. It took about an hour to make it fit. I just used a piece of thin white elastic, and sewed it with thread that match the cap around the edge using a overcast stitch, making sure none of the hair got caught. Leaving both ends of the elastic hanging out of the stitches tied a knot to make the desire loop, and cut the ends short.

AaloriRian: Most outfit use snaps, or the very thin velcro as closures. I use snap for most of my outfits, but I have a newer kelly doll set from 2007 that uses the thin velcro.

Edit// Here it is.
IMG_1150 by kaminarikoneko, on Flickr

All the clothes expect the off-topic doll top fit pukipuki.

Closures from left to right top to bottom:
The puki: Hood with 2 snaps, a pair of handmade slip on shoes(I have the patterns posted in the sewing forum under the pukipuki size patterns thread),and the dress is a tie on, backpack: a button hole done with crochet closed by a bead, a kelly doll top: regular velcro, long sleeve shirt: a metal snap closure at the back, a kelly doll dress: plastic snap closure on the back, second top: thin velco closure it is hard to tell in the photo, pants: elastic to keep them on at the waist, and third top for a off-topic all: a clasp closure.

49. DFS: Thank you! :D That's exactly the info I needed.
kaminarikoneko: I would love a picture, thanks. I'm having trouble finding the tiny velcro so I was using snaps but the snaps I have are so big! I've also used tiny buttons but hand hemming the button hole is so time consuming :|.

I've been wanting to make a hoodie for sooo long. :)

50. HeavensChaos: Thank you! I have silicone wig caps, but recently had issue with one reacting with the MSC. Although that has only happened with the Fairyland Black Bob wig, no others for any of my dolls. Maybe the tip of a latex glove or a piece of a balloon? I have heard that some people use that.

AaloriRian
: I have everything from really tiny buttons to snaps to thin velcro. Some outfits have enough stretch in them and/or have a wide enough neck that I just have to take off the faceplate and slip it over. I think the teeny tiny buttons are adorable though, I have seen some on etsy.
edit: OOPS! I guess you already got an answer. lol That is what I get when I skim the page. :)

Trinlayk
: Aw!! So cute! I wish I could figure out how to paint my polar bear faceplate...it's in normal skin though so that is a little tougher.

Tasuki and Miaka think that everyone needs to go have fun in the snow! Neither of them realize that it doesn't snow everywhere, though. lol

Snow Pukis! by redmaiko, on Flickr

51. Ah well, in the case of one I really need to protect from staining (WS plus dark wig!) and Set's wig is slightly big. I can make pants, but making the wig slightly smaller would probably end with me not getting it on ever again!

Puki snow angels!:fangirl: ahem >.>;;

Thanks, I might have to look into balloons again. Or gloves. I know the balloon I tried before was quite old (and a first try) so it was more a nuisance then anything. It might go better the second time around.

52. HeavensChaos: The elastic is which make the cap stretchy,so it still fits. It acts like a rubber band.

53. Eclaire my chocopuki having great fun at the Dairyland meet!

54. Elastic? I think we're on opposite topics! No wonder I was confused, I'm sorry! I've got a Tabloach wig on Set, no elastics there. I'm looking for makeshift silicone wig cap kind of wig caps. Something to prevent staining in one case and help Set's wig stay on in the other.

Sorry if I confused you!

55. That's unusual; I have two Tabloach wigs and I know lots of other people have them, and they're usually great, snug fits. As far as I can tell, she doesn't use elastic in them; she just sews them snug and lets the thread "give" a little when you slip it on the Puki head.

Hmm... you could try sewing a gathering stitch into the edge of the wig using matching thread, leaving the ends loose, putting it on Set, and then tying a knot where it would make it just snug enough to stay on but not so tight that it won't come off again. Then clip the ends and gently tug to hide the thread ends. I only suggest that if you're confident with a needle and thread. :sweat
