Peak's Woods Fairies of Colors Discussion PART VII

It's been so fun to see all those different contest entries on the PW photo gallery! I almost didn't participate since I didn't get good enough photos with my cats but since this was the first photo contest I was able to take part in, I just had to!

I was also very tempted to order Cue in blue-grey from the event but I just can't afford her now... I love Cue and I love PW's blue-grey resin. But I have my lovely Rosemii as eyecandy so I think I'll survive.

 

I was also very tempted to order a Lavander-pink dandy Tristan, but I still in layaway for my Kass and Keith, so not but I want a lavander boy in a future

 

I wouldn't mind getting a Dandy boy at some point in the future. My finances didn't line up in time to participate in this event.

 

Anyone has some pics that best represent what the lavender pink color looks like in person? Thank you in advance

Some of the photos are simply amazing, I have to say megannart's pic with the chicken was one of my favourites, I can't even imagine how you are able to take that kind of a shot... Plus the photos are really good quality too. I had trouble just taking a picture of my cat with my doll! xD Well at least it was fun to participate!

 

I missed out on ordering a Rosemii and I'm soooo sad i hope she's available again at some point..

 

@Dreadfulme - The Lavender-pink skintone is beautiful but kind of difficult to describe.. I'll try my best! In my opinion it's more of a lavender or lilac than a pink color. In some lightings, like under fluorescent lamps or on overcast days it's kinda a lilic-grey, and under incandescent light sources or more sunny days it looks more pinky-lilac. I hope that makes sense, on my girl (I have a FOB in this color) it's not really a noticeable fantasy shade until you put her next to another doll. I'll post a photo of her next to a Suntan colored FOC girl so that you can get the right idea. I think mostly in person it looks lilac and not extremely violet or purple either way.

@karrigankat - I made my lavender-pink girl be a vampire character, it worked out really well I think! At first I was worried that it might be too warm a color to represent a vampire girl but the overall the color is more cool than warm. I think it would work for any multitude of fantasy characters - fairy, vampire, or zombie, etc. Or even a regular person if they were to be a gothic type character.. it looks pale compared to my other doll's skintones. Also, Congrats on your Vampire Goldie!! She will look amazing in Blue-grey! How exciting!!! =^.^= Alington has a Vampire Briana in Blue-grey with the special faceup and she is gorgeous, if you get a chance to check her out of Flickr you should.

I'm so happy that there were 14 slots, I'm really lucky to be counted among them, Peak's Woods is so sweet and generous with their photo events. I had alot of fun photographing my dolls with my pets, I hope everyone had fun during their photo shoots as well.

I did not end up getting my Cosmo head during the limited event, I was tempted but BJDC in Austin attacked my wallet and I had to hold back. In fact, I've told myself no more dolls for the remaining year. I have decided on a faceup artist for my Keith the Prince and he will be shipping out today for open eye modification, faceup, and hand blushing - so I'm very excited for that!

Has anyone ordered girl jeans from TTYA for the FOC Peakswood girls? I ordered two pair and am taking a risk that they will fit. I am expecting them to be long, which I could fix. Thanks for any input. Is there anywhere else I can order jeans????? Help.

 

My Alice in Wonderland pair are finally together 2 years after they were first released. I decided I need to share my Mad Hatter with everyone He looks great with my other PW sculpt - Tristan.

A big thank you to all who congratulated me on getting Dlight! I have not been very good at responding to messages here on DoA, but I'm so glad that I can share my excitement with you guys. I placed the order for Dlight on my birthday (the 8th of August), so I'm on the waiting list for two PW dollies now. Can't wait to get my two girls home!

Dlight will be my witch, Gwen, and Hunky Dory will be a butterfly named Meadow. I got two pair of wings for Rosalie, my moth girl, so I'm thinking of giving Meadow the other set.

I was also one of the lucky winners in their recent photo contest. I'm so grateful and happy! It's the first time I've ever won anything in a doll contest.

 

It's just great to hear someone's excitement thru their posts. I know when I've ordered I start buying right away for their arrival--shoes, patterns, etc. Whatever. Then you wait and wait seems forever. But the Peakswoods dolls are the most beautiful faceups I've seen. Perfection. Love the size of their body also, not too big and not too heavy.

 

@Cathie Milwaukee I agree! Fairyland used to be my favorite company, but Peak's Woods have sort of taken its place. I still adore my FL girls, but there is just something unique about PW dolls. And as you said, they make the most beautiful faceups and I love their Lolita body. I was a bit concerned about the legs not being double-jointed, but it hasn't been a problem at all. And I adore the hands! Definitely the most beautifully sculpted BJD hands I have ever seen. So elegant

I have the ttya jeans & they fit good on FOC Lolita body but you will have to wiggle the jeans over the heel, they are also ever so slightly long.

Wow, glad to know I was missed. This new format has really cramped my style. Most of the time I can't find what I'm looking for or track stuff like I did before. Just a big adjustment. I have other BJDs and can't post about them here...on this thread. But thank God I have 2 PW dolls that can wear the TTYA jeans. Their workmanship is top notch. They sent me the inseam measurement I and thought they would work. First I've heard they might. Yeah!!! Of my 5 SD sized girls, Rogita the Witch is my favorite. She is so stunning with the red lips. I've not ordered more of this size because there have been no new sculpts available.[/QUOTE]

 

That's awesome! I really like the subtle color interplay. It's soft and sleepy just like your subjects. I haven't done anything doll related in awhile but went to a meetup this Sunday which forced me to get out my Rosemii and get her dressed up. I had this old Doll Heart outfit and I think it suits her. Sorry for the bad cellphone pic. My digital camera died on a trip last week.

I was also one of the winners, and I have to say, photographing dolls and pets together is hard!

My Vamp Goldie was finally shipped yesterday which reminded me to log in here again XD I gotta say ever sine DoA passed to this new forum I haven't been into it at all >_<;;
Anyways, after only 1.5 years since I ordered her, Dahlia will be coming home. I can't wait to see the faceup in person as I had asked them to tweak it a little, so I hope they remembered as they were so kind to agree but it's been ages XD

I'm pretty much completely out of the bjd hobby and 99% inactive but it's still exciting to receive a new doll.

Wondering if someone here would know - how well does PW normal skin resin match to Volks normal skin? I know that they used to try to match Volks, years ago, but I am not sure if that still applies today.

 

I don't think It would work. Peakswood normal is more of a pink color while Volks is more yellow.

 

Aw drat, that's too bad. Though on the other hand, saves me from temptation for the moment. I am seriously considering investing in an airbrush so that resin match will no longer be an issue, as I like hybrids so much and at this rate airbrushing heads seems both less costly and less time consuming than hunting for decent matches between parts.

Another gorgeous Rosemii! I have a lavender-pink one on layaway, and it seems like it will be forever before I can bring her home. Probably because I have a few on layaway with PW - LOL

 

Hey everyone. Is anyone having trouble posting pictures in the gallery or elsewhere on DoA? I'm trying to post in the gallery; I'm using photobucket. I've made sure the coding looks right and that the IMG tags are there and that the pictures are less than 2MB. Its really weird, the photos show in the thread creator but when I go to preview, the link is broken. Any help would be most appreciated.

 

@krystina, I've noticed issues lately with photobucket too. It happened over the weekend for awhile and yesterday as well, and I noticed it was all over the boards, not just my account. I figure photobucket must be periodically working on something which messes with posting our photos, but only temporarily...so just post them here anyway as you normally do and they'll magically show up once the "down period" is over.

Aw thanks faireva, yes the roses are miniature SD size...when she holds them it looks like her bouquet! I found them at Michael's craft store.

On the front page header, there's a green resin doll but it looks like one of the Fairy Tale sized dolls

 

@skyealloway - You can see it on their facebook page, new releases will usually pop up there before they are officially released on their home page. :-)

@stellarphenomena - I think this new color is precious! From what I have seen, I like it just as much as the lavender pink color. I wonder if this release will be all vampires? They look like they have little bite marks on their neck!

 

Oh I see, emerald castle. Cool. I think I like lavender pink better, but I also already have a green doll from another company and I like to keep things diversified. Excited to see more pics

 

O wow the green-skin is fantastic! The shade looks minty and "fresh" to me. I think Peakswoods green resin and Doll Chateau's green skin are my favorite greens. The tinies are very cute - and those faceups are so beautiful

I'm very tempted to get Dotty Muse from the School of Rock series. She is just adorable in blue-grey skin and I love her faceup She would be my child vampire (who is actually very old, but stuck in the body of a young girl - sort of like Claudia from "Interview with the Vampire"). I just wish they offered her sailor uniform too. It looks great on her.

 

Gotta admit, the Peak's Woods resins are always spot-on, it's another ridiculously lovely color to add to the mix. I also hope to see it in an SD release but...having seen it in-person, I'm hoping to end up with Urban Brown next.

I hadn't ordered a doll in Urban Tan in their initial release, but was lucky enough to see dolls in that resin at PNW last spring, and I fell in love with it--yeah, I have the Dolly Regrets, why didn't I buy one there? Silly me. But the great thing about dolls is, there's always more pretty coming down the pipeline. I'm just rooting for a nice Holiday event with SD dolls, with a pile of PW's outstanding resin colors and just drop-dead gorgeous clothing, yeah!

I'm trying to avoid more SD's but I'd love a FOF in that color!
