Hi guys! I just picked up my suntan Tristan's from the post office this morning!! My husband was unfortunately in the shower when the postman came by yesterday, but no biggie, they came much sooner than I thought they would through customs. Here is a teaser photo, I plan to make a box opening thread tonight, but they wanted to greet the new thread now. oh wow! I came to share my girl now that she finally has a faceup and I bought her a new wig and there's a new thread!
I ended up deciding to keep my Elf Tristan and while I still need to make her some new clothes, she's looking so gorgeous!

OMG! I said it before, but I will definitely say it again... I loooooove PW's tan! They look great! I love how smirky she is while he looks rather melancholy. I wonder how mine will look together... wow, so many Tristans everywhere! I love it xD

She looks great! It surprised me how much I liked the red on the gray tristans, it really works! And I love the brows you gave her *3* Looking forward to seeing more!

 

Thank you all! I'm on my way home now, so I should have those photos up soon. The suntan is so lovely, a light natural tan and they don't have any really noticeable seam lines. My boy Tristan really needs a wig, I think I might go with brunette wigs for them both, but I kinda wanna give my girl fantasy color hair, like lavender. That's the fun part for me, getting all the accessories till the look comes together.
Reitaism, I requested for my girl to have a small smile as I wanted them to have contrasting expressions, Kyung Min did a great job on the face ups, I'm so glad she is well now. The promotional photos showed her with a Mona Lisa smile though, so it might not be unique to my girl alone. Thanks again everyone!

Lavender coloured hair would look really cool on her skin tone Maybe just give it a try and see how it works with her.

I just received a message from PeaksWoods with a reply to a question I sent them before.
I asked if in next upcoming event about what skin colours they would offer and they said:

"Yes, we will have 4 skin color options for every FOC and A.B. doll."

Thats great news! Im assuming the 4 colours are Normal, White, Suntan and Blue-Grey? I was also meaning to ask if these can also apply to just heads on their own but I forgot, so i'll have to ask that again soon.

 

Oooo that is fantastic news! So many possibilities!

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my new kids! I've been handling them but the inspiration for their names hasn't hit me yet, maybe after I finish dressing them.

Kawachu - I got word this morning from Peak's Woods and they said "Yes, of course, we can add hand blushing to basic Dandy boys. Just leave request regarding it when placing an order and send us extra fee ($35) by PayPal." Do you think you are going to order him? I've reconsidered and even though I love him dearly, I need to wait financially. I soooo hope they release him again!!

I've taken a similar decision to not get him right now for financial reasons. I'm right there with you hoping he'll be back one day *sighs*

 

I'm glad you posted that. I had asked them about ordering basics (to find out when they would be on the way out) but I would prefer to wait and get one of FOC dolls in blue-grey!

 

*Just an update*
I asked about the separate heads and what colours they offer, but as I suspected, they are only offering normal and white for heads by themselves due to suntan and the grey being harder to colour match later if you were to get a body, which is understandable.

My Tristan Half-Elf came home today and she is stunning. Her make up is so detailed and the tan colour is lovely. I should be jumping up and down, but I just felt as if I was looking at someone else's doll. I looked at her and then put her straight back in her box I hope that it's just because I'm not feeling well today. I waited so long for her, and have never loved a doll's promo pics so much. I'm so surprised by my reaction, or lack of

Ishtar, I'm sorry you haven't been able to bond with her straight away, as it's only the first day with her I think it's fine to not feel completely familiar with her yet. When you are feeling better and have time to dress her up I hope you find that spark that initially attracted you to her in the promo pics. Personally, I bond best with a doll when I put them in clothes and pose them, even then I find that it takes time for me to be completely satisfied with my dolls look until I have all the right components - the right wig, eyes, and style that fit the personality I imagine them to have. For example, it's love at first sight with my Tristans, but I still haven't been able to name them as they are naked and not with the right wigs yet.

As for me I'm wiffle-waffling on whether or not I want to order Cosmo again! HAHA, I thought I had definitely made up my mind not to order him, but since he is on his way out and PW doesn't have any plans for him this year I've found myself on the fence again. I'm enjoying this size doll much more than I expected, my biggest doll so far has been a YoSD but I'm starting to prefer the amount of presence these dolls have, they seem like they will be easier to sew clothes for as well - even with my elementary skills. I still have a few days to make up my mind at least..

This is the first time I heard of Peaks Woods! They have amazing dolls, I never heard from them before. Anyone have pictures of Goldie? I like her, she is beautiful

Beth L, thank you! I love your Goldie. Would really love to have Vampire Goldie, but I'd love her in the suntan color. I hope they will do that again. I didn't know about Peak's Woods the last time they offered that.

I have a quick question, what does the 'neck custom' option mean when selecting heads on peakswoods site?

 

maybe it's for if you want to use the head for male? then widen the neck? I have no idea... what I want to know is.. why there is no female tristan head available but dandy is... didn't there used to be for both?

Thats what I thought, though when I last asked PW a week ago if a dandy head would fit on a lolita body they said no and didn't mention anything about neck options... I guess thats another question i'll be asking them ;D Haha they are so nice with questions though, I've asked so many but they are awesome every time

 

Yeah, they told me it wouldn't fit either when I asked them a few months ago ~_~ but for the other way around, that's the only thing I can think of because ab and lolita both have the same neck circumference, don't they? PW really is good about answering all our pesky questions, I feel bad sometimes xD

 

I finally have someone to do the faceup for my Tristan, and best yet, she's doing it for free! Yay for having the same favorite band! And she's quality, too! So i'm gonna get her face and both sets of hands painted. yayyyyyyy!

 

Two sets, 13 dolls and 60 photos for a 7 page script. Primary photography will be complete tonight. Then the Photoshop work begins. Whew.

 

I finally broke down and sent a query to Peaks Woods about my doll's completion. This is the first time I've ordered from this company and I was getting freaked out about "no communication." My customer status showed the order and my payment but it's been 61 days...so I asked. Good news, my Dlight should be finished in about 2 weeks and then shipped. I'm feeling better about this. After all it's a lot of $$$ and I've been patient til now. I have patterns and clothing, shoes and wigs. I mentioned that I love the new dolls too but won't order any more until I get my first. I got an immediate email response. I wish these Asian companies would have a system where at least there was a bar or something like that showing progress. So I'd better start thinking about a name or two...won't be long now. I also need to figure out how to post a pic here.

Peakswoods is an artisan company; I don't think they have time to make doll orders AND create specialized tools for their site. Also, I don't think any doll company has a "bar" showing progress, regardless if they're Asian or not (but I could be wrong). They're not hard to get an answer from; ask them anything and they respond either the same day or following day (as long as its not near a holiday).

 

I know Krystina, I'm just a dreamer on that. It's just that in the past when I ordered dolls from USA companies they'd arrived in a week. Many items I can track the delivery route. But this....takes steadfast patience and trust. Three times the price, many months of waiting. I'm sure she'll be worth it.

 

Periwinklestars - Thanks for that body comparison! I got the same as you, Tristan on AB body. I haven't seen the Lolita body but when Tristan came out it was an unknown quantity since it was new. I'm not sure if I like the legs on the AB body that much but I do like the extra height. It makes her greyness a little more imposing. I'm hoping the rumors are true about the next event and I can get a blue grey doll on the Lolita body....

 

I bet they will offer that. I like the AB body best over all, but the Lolita body is really cute when the doll is dressed. Some of my SD clothes don't fit on the AB body as well. Then again, corsets look fabulous

 

Periwinkle stars, Thank you so much for the comparison photos, I didn't realize how much fuller and mature the AB body is compared to the cute Foc body. I love her Venus dimples! I wonder if they look like Amazons when compared to the Dandy body?

Cathie Milwaukee - I think it's fine to ask about your doll on the inquire board at the bottom of the page, they are actually pretty communicative compared to other doll companies that I've ordered from, at least when it comes to responding to questions. The account does say "payment confirmed" for a long time on the account, in which they are actually making the doll, before it changes to "in shipping". In my experience this notification system is the norm when ordering from Korean doll companies, also for all my dolls except one that was already in stock here in USA you can expect to wait 3-6 months till you receive your doll. Just keep in mind it takes time to cast, paint, and mail all these dolls. Also, you can post pics by signing up for a free image sharing site like Flickr and linking them here and there is a picture sharing button next to the smiley button on the reply bar. Hope this helps!

@cathiemilwaukee; I think i see what you mean lol, actually i was really anxious when i ordered my 1st peakswoods. but now that i'm ordering my 3rd (soon to be 4th) I really don't mind the long wait because the dolls are totally worth it. Me personally though, I don't like Peakswoods just for the dolls only; team Peakswoods are just the nicest people! I love buying dolls from them because they really don't treat you like a customer but more like a friend. Plus, Peakswoods has been around since 2003; I think they're one of the first modern bjd makers (?)

I appreciate everyone's input here, always. I have 3 other brands of dolls and feel that Peak's Woods is the most beautiful. I think that is because their faceups are gorgeous. I'd hate to have to send a blank doll out and wait again and be worried how the final look would be. I'm worried about changing hands and feet but think I'll figure it out. That's part of the evolution of this hobby, that's how we become comfortable doing all these things. It makes BJDs so interesting.

 

Oh, she is beautiful! I think if you put clothes and wig on her you will love her! I find that I usually have to try on different outfits, wigs, and eyes before I "get" a doll's personality.

You are welcome. I agree that the Lolita body will look good in some frilly clothes. I'm hunting for just the right outfit for my Dlight. Maybe I'll make something.

I received an answer from them today. They said:
"Yes, in fact, that is for widening the neck opening so that the head can fit other bodies as you said."
Ah, so they can make the girl heads bigger to fit the male body, but it wont be possible the other way around, of male head to female body.
I guess I could give modding a go to make the neck hole smaller to fit the Dandy heads on a Lolita body...
Im thinking about it since Im not sure if I prefer the male or female Lavin head... :/
Im mean since the Dandy event is already over maybe I'll just the FOC Lavin head and if I dont like it try to sell it or trade for a Dandy Lavin head, haha im not sure how much luck I'll have in finding a Dandy Lavin head for sale now though :P

 

I see they have the girls' pictures up on the website this morning, but no news about the event yet. I had hoped there might be a LE face-up or two. I guess we will have to wait to find out the details.

I know, I'm starting to freak out a little bit because last month when they announced they were phasing out the lines I started looking through and putting my order together... but I just saw today that they also released new clothes! This might mess with my original budget... Also, now that it's getting closer to the end of FoC, I'm not sure whether I should order my Wake-up Goldie Normal Skin or take a chance on White. Most of my dolls are NS, and I bought an NS FoF from the Peak's Woods booth at Dollism Plus NY, so I know I like the color. I've seen photos of Goldie in both Normal Skin and White Skin and I like them both, but I can only afford to buy one within the year limit for layaway. On top of that, now that I've seen a comparison of the AB body and the Lolita body, I can't decide between the two because I like the aesthetics of both! Has someone already posted a comparison of the bust sizes between the two body types?

so..my boy have originally arrived.. but.. cuz the postman decided to be lazy and not call me OR ring the doorbell i have to pick him up on the post office xD this is a first for me with a dollie..gosh..im not sure i'll be able to pick him up today then since i migth have to have my coworker drive me home (we're finished atwork at the same time) and i feel like it would be a bit erm.. rude.. for me to ask her to stop at the post office to piick up such a big package xD i guess ill just pick him up tomorroz morning

 

It doesn't hurt to ask, right? If you make a point of telling her what a huge favor it would be, she'll know you'd be grateful at the very least and not trying to be rude at all. Plus, in the BEST case scenario, you could open the box together and introduce her to Peak's Woods!
