YAY! I cant wait! I had a question though... If you won a doll head last time, would that mean you cant enter the contest for doll heads this time? Or would it be based on the type of contest you participated in last time? That's the only part I need clarification on. Everything sounds like it is going to be awesome otherwise

It's based on the type of contest you won, not the prize you won. So you are welcome to participate in any contest for a prize, since there is no Visual Concepts contest this year. Good luck and have fun!

 

Oooh this is the first year I've been a member of the site during the festivities! So excited to watch and maybe try my hand at participating in some of the contests.

 

This is going to be so much fun. I plan to participate in one of these events.

Even if I don't get to join in, it's still amazing to see all the creative ideas other members come up with.

Would love to try the Photography Contest again, but I won the Tableau Vivant contest a while ago and thus am not allowed to participate for a prize.
Maybe I will try my hand at the face-up contest or design a new avatar this year.

Really looking forward to all new entries this year, and thanks to the companies and artists that provide the prizes (and of course the DoA mods for organizing)

We will be posting more info on the rest of the contests in the next day or two, but the Triathlon won't officially begin until this coming weekend.

 

Its that time of year already?! Whoa, I honestly wouldn't have known if not for the notice on the frontpage! Hopefully nothing will stop me from participating this year as well ^^ I'm excited!

I had to look up McCree and was amused to see that he's clearly based on The Man With No Name who was the first visual reference that occurred to me.

What is the triathlon? Is it a combination of the competitions? This is my first years competing so I'm curious.

 

@sammyjo421 The DoA Triathlon is three separate contests that all link to the each other. It has an overarching theme, and each leg of the triathlon has a unique aspect.

 

Oh cool! How exciting! SO If I'm competing in the couture contest can I compete in the triathlon too?

 

@sammyjo421 The triathlon is the most time-and-work intensive of all of our contests, so a lot of entrants will just do the thriathlon. But! If you are feeling adventurous, go for it! You could compete in every contest if you like!

The Triathlon brings me out of lurker mode every year, if for no other reason than to gaze in awe at the entries and vote. It's been a number of years since I was actively collecting, but I still love looking at everyone's work

 

I love Anniversary time. Every year I'm blown away by the talent and creativity of DoA members.

 

I'm so pumped I keep checking back to see updates of the Triathlon. Can we have an estimate of when we can expect to see the first round's post? xD

I have a quick question. Are we allowed to enter more than one contest? Or only one contest per participant?

 

I have a question, tried using the Ask the Moderators forum but my computer kept giving me an error message so I figured I should just post here do I have to compete in all the challenges to qualify to win a prize? or can I compete in just a couple challenges? I don't have an extra head to pint so I couldn't do the faceup contest.

This is the first year I've had a doll during the anniversary so I'm really excited to participate as much as I can! It looks exciting Thanks!

Been on this forum since 2010 and every single year I've been unable to participate in the celebrations due to "unforeseen circumstances". Every. Year.

Oh man, I don't think I'll be able to participate. We're moving soon, though I hope everyone else has a great time (tempted to do a practice face up in the theme though, after we move, finally get something done on that practice head).

Happy birthday Doa !! I'm so curious about triathlon, I discovered this for the first time, this is so exciting !

 

That moment when your like, there is no way Doa could be 12 years old! Then you realize a) you have enough resin to throw your own hip out b) you refer to that doll you saw three years ago as that doll they released "a month ago" c) Dolls have so skewed your perception that you now measure all things in terms of units of dolls, or waiting times for new resin. (Home repair costs 500? Oh that's less than a full set! I can handle that!, Mail might take 6 weeks, that's nothing compared to a preorder from Korea! I got this in the bag).

I suppose this means its time for me to put a fresh tennis ball on the end of my cane and go shake it at the kids on my lawn. but all jokes aside. Thank you for 12 amazing years of a good community, the mods that have come and gone, those that put up with us all and the general community who keeps our sanity (questionable at times) intact.

and of course the yearly events which always drag me out to watch and in even participate in. (some years more successfully than others. But its just not a year in this hobby if I haven't glued myself to something in the name of a contest.)

 

How exciting! I can't wait to follow all the contests and see everyone's creativity!

We aren't releasing any merchandise this month, but we do have plans for more fun stuff at the end of the year.

I, too, am curious as to what constitutes the triathlon. Is there an archive of the entries of past anniversary competitions? Are there any specific rules? When is the closing date? Judging? Announcement of winners?
As this is my first year as well to observe as well, approximately how many entries are usually submitted?
