      Description​

      As we celebrate our 12th anniversary, we invite you to participate in our Photography contest on the theme “HIGH NOON”.

      There are a number of ways how to portray the High Noon concept ~ a face off, a comeuppance, a stare down, someone getting their "just deserts", a fateful meeting, a confrontation, a final test, and many many others.
      So, pick up your camera and let your creativity go free.

      Participants can submit one photograph that will illustrate the theme the best.

      Entries will be judged based on technique, creative interpretation of theme, and skillful doll wrangling.


      Rules​

      Entries will not be included in the voting if they do not meet the submission criteria.

      1. Photographs may be color or black & white and may be produced by any camera, smartphone or tablet. Basic processing is permitted (exposure, color correction, cropping, etc).
      2. You may use multiple dolls. The primary subject doll must be on topic for DoA.
      3. The photo must be taken after August 6th, 2016.
      4. The photo must be in the correct format and size:
        - Photos must be submitted in JPEG (JPG)
        - Maximum size 800 pixels on the longest side and 2MB or less
      5. There should be no personally identifying information on the photos – no name, username, email, or watermark.
        When voting is open, your image will be shown anonymously.
      6. No hosting the contest photo or photos from the same shoot in a publicly visible photo album during the contest.
      7. Common DoA rules for appropriate content apply.

      Clothing set – $200 GC to Nine9 Style

      Who may compete for the prize?​

      This contest is open to all members who have joined on or before the date of June 30th, 2016.
      Members who have joined the forum after June 30th, 2016 may participate, but are not eligible for prizes.

      Participants must be members in good standing. Members may not participate if they have a marketplace suspension, marketplace ban, unresolved transactions or a paging status.

      Do not accept the prize if you do not intend to keep it. It is unsportsmanlike to sell the prize after receiving it and anyone found doing this will receive a Marketplace suspension and be barred from future contests. Tick the box "I am not competing for the prize" on your submission form if you do not intend to keep the prize.


      It is possible to participate just for fun, without competing for the prizes. Tick the box "I am not competing for the prize" on your entry submissions. Entries will be displayed along with the competing entries, but will not appear on the voting forms.

      Current Den of Angels staff may participate, but are not eligible for prizes.

      Members who have won prizes in the past photography contests may participate for fun, but they are not eligible for a prize in this contest.

      Recast supporters may only participate for fun; they are not eligible for the prizes from these donors.

      IMPORTANT: Describing your entries, posting photos, or soliciting votes (either on DoA or on offsite blogs or forums) before the contest voting has closed will result in disqualification.

    5. Okay, question! Are we allowed to add some special effects (photoshop) like stronger lighting, sparkles, smoke for example? What I mean is some degree of stock photos used to enhance our photo.

    6. As stated in the rules, no special effects. Photoshop may be used for basic color/exposure correction and resizing. Your smoke will have to be real. :)

    7. This is gonna sound really stupid but I don't quite understand the theme of 'High Noon'. What does it mean? Judging by the examples you gave, it can be a showdown or a life-changing moment?

    9. I've never heard anyone use that expression either. It sounds like something from a western. Is it a common American saying?

    10. It does have an association with the Western film genre, since the very popular Gary Cooper films featuring this type of situation (The Virginian - 1929 and High Noon - 1952) were both set in the West.

    14. I had trouble submitting my entry. I kept getting an error message that my description was over 160 characters and it was not.
      I was barely able to write two sentences. I have contacted mods, but just wanted to see if anyone else is having this issue.

    24. Is there an issue with the voting form? When i try to vote, I don't see a pull-down menu but rather a place to type in a response. I can certainly do the latter, but the pull-down form will make it easier to tally the votes.
