Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID, HID ) Part 11

Sep 24, 2019

    1. I keep seeing legit iplehouse headless dolls on eBay. Why do people keep the heads? How easy is it to get a head that DOA will allow (not a recast). What other makers are compatible with SID/EID necks?

Tell me everything you can, I am sure I didn’t cover everything.

    2. I'm getting a Pygmalion girl head (rare) that fits the SID body.

      • x 1
    3. @Frillseeker the heads are a lot more popular, because some people dont like the look / posing of Iplehouse bodies, but want to create their own hybrids on other bodies. Since its very rare to see heads being sold, some prefer to buy the full doll and then sell off the body; thats why some dolls have splits available, but only if the body sells first lol

I think Iplehouse has this unfair reputation for being bad posers, Ive heard about it all the time, even from people who have never had experienced or owned an iplehouse doll in person. I feel like the new SID model male and female bodies are one of the best posers, but they dont look as pretty as the other doll lines because of the knee and elbow design (it doesnt bother me, but I can see how it can bother others). Plus, the new redesigned ankles makes them so stable, that I wish Iplehouse would implement that change to all their dolls (the ankles on the HID woman, nSID man and woman).

Only time I remember Iplehouse selling heads is if they are discontinuing the head, and that was a few years ago I believe? Luo, Rebecca, Kamau and Ashanti (which surprises me because all 4 of those heads are so unique and amazing! Kamau being my favorite sculpt). Iplehouse doesnt sell heads outside discontinued sales, and from past notices, a very limited number of "reject" heads every now and then, but that too, was several years or so ago.

I wouldnt go with neck measurements if you are going to hybrid, their necks are unique, like a mushroom? not like standard doll necks. I know dollshe 28m heads fit the SID male bodies. I also know the tera zenith souldoll heads fit the SID male bodies well enough, even though the tera zenith is about the same size as EID. Idealian by Soom (male) fit the SID male bodies too, they are taller than EID men, but the neck size is very different, the head perches on top of that body instead.

I couldnt find much female heads that fit Iplehouse bodies, other than the model version of SID, or nYID. Raccoon Doll SD woman fits. Rainman doesnt, Supia doesnt, Souldoll doesnt. Those are the ones that I tried, so there may be others that fit?

      • x 3
    4. ditto on unfair reputation, I love my IH SID girl's body, and think she is super manageable and expressive.

      • x 3
    5. Can also be a space issue. I'd have half a dozen more Iple heads if they were available separately - I wouldn't have all my dolls out at the same time anyway so I might as well have multiple heads share one body. But they don't offer that.

Elfdoll heads are somewhat compatible, the neck is a tad long but it works. (I'd post a pic but deviantart's new layout is so incredibly convoluted I can't find my own stuff ...) Elfdoll is dead, but Rain Man is still active and his new heads might fit, so that might be worth a shot. There's a thread for his sculpts somewhere, they're gorgeous and roughly on the same level of realism as Iple (maybe a bit more realistic).

    6. @GreenTeaSlug
Thank you for that cornucopia of information.Aside from I’house and Raccoon SD, it doesn’t sound like there is much choice. This means Iplehouse will always be a premium doll. You watch.

      @Jany
      TY for your input, too

All the rest of you, ❤️❤️❤️❤️ for commenting.

    7. @Frillseeker If you're looking for a head to put on an Iplehouse body, Impldoll Idol and Star heads (the newer star heads) will work. Some of them are quite beautiful and are distinctive. Beautiful, but not so bland. Just check for the neck circumference, which should be 10.5 cm. Go for a light color, like white or their pink normal and you should be able to match an Iplehouse body with the right blushing colors or you can get an artist to do it. Also, their darker colors look like "french resin" which you may or may not get with the Iplehouse body.

Edit: I love Impldoll, but they do tend to sculpt big lightbulb heads with lovely faces, that is the face is normal but the head is a bit large. It all covers up with a wig, but if you aren't prepared for it, it might freak you out, LOL. Alberta is particularly strange to me, but she looks lovely in owner pictures. Some sculpts are worse than others. But these heads have been shown to fit the Iplehouse bodies by other members.

    8. Soom Mega Gem heads fit the SID male body pretty damn well I have discovered. :)

      • x 2
    9. SartoriaJ used to make heads specifically to go with Iplehouse bodies (they even had the same resin color). They've since started making their own bodies, so idk if that's changed, but an older head might still work.

(It's good to hear that the newer bodies pose better; I have an old YID Lion who's a terrible poser that I've been wanting to upgrade, and it'd be a lot easier to just get another realskin Iple body than having to worry about color matching him.)

    11. Yes. The color of their( SartoriaJ) skin have indeed changed as well as the SD sizes. Unfortunately they are not selling heads alone anymore only full dolls. They did get rid of their last stock at their adieu sale earlier this year.

    12. It's such an odd complaint about the posing to me. My nSID girl is my best poser of my big dolls (one of the YoSD's beats her in general) but the weight of just being an SD+ does factor in. I also really like her mobility joint and knees but I seem to be in the minority there of knee preferences with all of mine, lol.

    13. @Ice Mutt

If you don’t mind, would you post a couple of pictures of posed dolls - I would like to see why you say that. I already love my SID and plan to get another one, but am very new at posing them. They seem static to me, but are so beautiful. Thanks!

Anyone else got pics? Sure would like to see some.

I'll have to find some of my better ones / ones that make use of her knees when I'm off work. But some of my favorites just have that my Rhea's hands and arms tend to not droop or snap as easily as my other big dolls. Excuse my craft supplies all around, I took a moment and threw her into this pose, she's holding up a small metal pendant with a leather strap on it with no assistance and nothing holding her back up. Took about...90 seconds and probably 60 of those was me messing with her jacket.

While I don't move away from her standing unassisted (I leave her on a stand when she's just on her display and don't move out of arms reach outdoors), I can often just get her to pose instantly. I think my Littlefee is the only one that can compete on the expressive posing that I have.

    15. How different in size is the NSID vs old one? I'm really tempted to get a new girl, either to replace my Doria as Catwoman or to be someone else in my group, but as Catwoman she'd need to fit the clothes made for her current SID body.

EDIT: Oops I posted by accident before I was done - anyway, they look about the same, but her outfit is (duh) a catsuit and super form-fitting, so I'm a little leery about getting a different body, even if it's pretty much the same body.

    16. @Frillseeker If you are getting a new doll and didnt know which to pick from, the nSID body and the HID woman are really good! I personally view HID Woman as EID V.2, because theres minor differences, but generally, they are really similar except its more stable because of the ankle design.

The nSID however, is completely different from any doll they have, in measurements and posing. I would even say its almost as good as Loongsoul (my personal favorite when it comes to posing on dolls)

@Sianserais has two really good threads on the posing and bodies of the new SID bodies!

      Female nSID
      /threads/royal-arrivals-iplehouse-model-sid-lucia-and-hid-elle.796526/

      Male nSID
      /threads/new-iplehouse-model-sidm-body-review-new-pics-added.757011/

@VampireAngel13 I would not say they are similar, the nSID is pretty skinny in general, and slightly taller. She also has narrower ribcage, shoulders and bust circumference. I wouldnt think they would be able to share a fitted outfit (Im guessing, since I only know of catwoman wearing leather skintight outfits)

I have a comparison of all the "realistic" bodies together, and you can see for yourself if you like

      NYID(small bust) : SID(large bust) : nSID(large bust) : Sartoria J(bell bust) : EID (large bust : HID (large bust) : Dollshe 26f (glamor bust)

    17. You just made my life in one photo. I've been dying to know sizes of nSID, EID and Dollshe in comparison with SID for other reasons and here it is!! And you're right, I'm not sure the skintight leather would work as well on the nSID, but for my other girl I was waffling because I didn't quite want her as big as Catwoman. And with a small bust the new one is perfect! And the only extra I'd have to pay for is the mobility thigh so that makes it easier.
thank you so much for posting this!

One last annoying question and I retire to contemplate my possible purchase: are SID and EID heads much different in size. I have Doria on my SID and she's perfectly proportioned. Are SID heads smaller or about the same?

      Thank you!!

      • x 1
    18. @GreenTeaSlug
You are the best. I much prefer the small bust, it is so much better for haute couture designs. I have an SID original small bust, but the way I’m going... :) I’ll wind up with them all. Will check the links, thanks a million.

      @VampireAngel13 ,
I had the same question. I believe the HID, EID and SID all use the 21 cm sized head, will have to check. I’m going to get an custom SID Harace. I know the 21 cm is for EID and HID. The proportions of these dolls are very pleasing when grouped, and eventually I’ll have some story boards in the Large Doll Discussion and the galleries. You can see what you think if you take a look.

      @Ice Mutt, @IngieBee, @Mahgiep ,
This is so incredibly helpfull and generous. I will be studying those poses and playing with Aria. It looks like the mobility thigh is the best choice for flexibility.

    19. I think each head is slightly different. I was looking for smaller heads and I was told Aria and Mari were smaller than others. I used Doll Choice to put Nancy on the nSID and it worked perfectly because it was also was a smaller head.

      • x 1
    20. @Mahgiep
The YID heads may please you. In the foggy past I think someone told me they were too small for some combination I was after. Agh! I hope I’m helping.

    21. @Frillseeker good to know!
Since all my dolls are Asian, I often wonder if Asa has a smaller head.

      • x 1
    22. I thought that was the case, but not being sure I figured I'd ask. I have Doria, and I was thinking of getting Rania with the new body and swapping them (I think Rania would make the best Catwoman. Where was she when I ordered?!). But it won't work if Rania has a big head. My backup plan is to go with Stella, but I'm afraid her being an actual SID will make the head smaller than Doria and just as weird-looking.

Yeah I'd read somewhere Doria was smaller too. I really just hope Rania is not huge. Or that Stella isn't small. I guess I should look for photos of them.

    23. Yep. Even tho HID, EID and SID W heads can be interchangeable. (Males can not) There are indeed different sizes.
And for sure they do not all look so good on the nYid body. Example Doria is one of those, in my opinion. She does work on a SID cause I have her on one. Isis looks good on a SID but not on a HID or EID. She looks a bit pin headed. So you got to be careful when you do switching, if that matters to you.

Stella is one that seems to look good on either of those bodies.

Aria does seem to have a smaller head. SOme regular sid size wigs seem big on her.

And Rania, would be one that I would keep on the EID body or even on the HID.
She has quite strong lines. but again that's my opinion.

      @VampireAngel13

Rania was a LE Carved Heritage doll. And you can only get her thru DCS now. She is not a regular doll. I wouldn't call her head small, like Aria or Isis.

The photo on the left is an Asa head on EID large bust, if that is any help.

I did get Rania as a choice doll on an HID body. I think she’s fabulous in these proportions and would have no hesitation using her on an EID body, my opinion for what it is worth.

Beautiful ladies. Love Aria's dress. Did you make that? WOW

Yeah, I think Rania is the type to rock the HID body. I have her on EID, since that's her CH original body.

    26. This helps a lot, because if Rania is too big for SID, I can rule her out, and go for Stella. Or Bibane, if she looks ok on SID. Stella would be the easiest - I could just her as a basic. I dunno. Good thing my options narrowed lol

    27. Oh heaven help me I'm looking at Ray faceup B in RS as a girl SID (with girl eyebrows). Hmmmm.

    30. Late to the party, but the heads are pretty much interchangeable. I have SID Rachel on an EID body, whose original head (new Yur) looks better on the nSID.
Personally, I prefer going up a size. But it all works.

    31. Oooh. I like her. She is edgy.

    32. @Bren,
Your input is so helpful. Yes, I make all their clothes. Remember when I said Halloween is coming? Get ready....

Everyone else - great pics and wisdom. ❤️

    33. Here is a Rania next to a Doria...Rania is on a HID bodies and Doria might be on an EID in this photo...maybe you can compare the size with this?

In this photo Rania on the left is slightly in front (see her shoulder) the Doria on the right.

    34. Thank you!

oh wow, they really aren’t that different in size! But she looks good with the big shoulders. Your Doria is gorgeous ( she is my favorite sculpt haha)!

I keep flip flopping on what to do, and if I want to get in on the sale I can’t wait too long, I may need DCS again.

    35. As long as we're talking size comparisons, anyone have some input on male bodies? I have an old Lion from the original YID line that I wanted to get a new body for, but according to my measurements the old YID neck seems to be 10.5 cm while the new YID/model SID necks are 11.2 cm. Is that going to be too much of a difference?

(Also waffling because Iplehouse doesn't usually have sales but I'm still working on paying off my Icon and idk if I can finish that and get a split going by the end of the month.:sigh)

    36. I wish I could help, I do have a nYID, but I don't have any old YIDs. So I'm not sure how much of a difference that measurement will be. When the head is bigger it works much better, but when the necks are bigger sometimes the head sits on the knob instead of surrounding it. ( like original Jude did on the EID) But I don't know in this case.

In the other hand, I do like the nYID body and worse scenario if it doesn't fit quite right, you could mod it a little to do so.

    37. The other thing to keep in mind is that old Iplehouse resin - I'd say 2008 and older, maaaaaybe 2009 - may not match newer resin and will probably need to be airbrushed to match. Old Iplehouse dolls did this thing where the pink tones would just... fall out of the resin. They arrived with pink! I remember the pink! But every one of them would be parchment-colored within a couple of months.

Iplehouse did address this problem later on and newer resin holds a color very well, but the early days were a bit rough-and-ready. :XD:

      • x 1
    38. Actually until 2014 when they changed from using French resin.

I've never heard of pink tones falling out unless you mean that the red tone in the resin with time fade out which is something that the color red does with anything with time and air. I own dolls from 2009 and they are still a beautiful color.

    39. He is pretty old...and from what I can see the neck is already pretty snug.
If I'm gonna have to blush the body to match either way, maybe I should just play it safe and go with another company's body with a smaller neck. Any suggestions? I think Doll Family H has a 65cm body with a 10.5cm neck that might work, but I'd like to hear more.

      • x 1
    40. I used to have that body for my Migidoll Ryu (and also Cynical Yujin) back in the day (one of his many). It fit really well, so Migidoll bodies might be an option. Also, since the proportions and fit were nice, and there are a lot of Migi hybrids out there, going by what people have used for their MD heads over the years might work for you too.

    41. Oops. Fallen behind in the thread again... :sweat
      Enjoying all the photos, though!

@GreenTeaSlug - Honestly, for my character Alicia, she's as close to perfect as I'm likely to find! If they'd done both arms cyborg-style it'd be even better, but I'll take it. Probably won't get the outfit, because it's not what she'd wear. I could see maybe combining the base bodysuit with other stuff for a different look, though... Do like your idea of painting the exposed parts gold!
And thanks, I think the faceup turned out great! Guess I need to find/commission a salt-and-pepper wig for him, somehow. I hope you'll share yours when he gets home. ^_^ Thanks for the wax info too!

@monkeypizzasonic - I actually posted a few pics of my Ryushin on my Migidoll Guy II body for someone else over in this thread in case that helps at all... As far as resins go, Latte Brown may be similar to new RS if it really is the same as their old tan. It hasn't always been consistent, though, and I don't have a recent example to compare for you.

    42. @monkeypizzasonic I actually took up Sianserais's advice and got the Migidoll Star65 body for my Gentle Soori. The head will fit fine but the scale of the head compared to the body could look small and the neck seems to be a bit thick. My GSoori has yellowed and definitely doesn't match the meringue beige. I think he looks fine. Honestly if I could get the old YID body, I would but the Migidoll Star65 body will do fine if you're not picky. It actually works out for me since my character is meant to be more muscular than skinny. They actually give you a silicon wafer for the head but it couldn't fit G-Soori's socket so I removed it. Here are some photos.

    44. Agreed! I am not good at remembering sculpts anymore, as there are so many! But when I clicked into here, I saw your doll, @Frillseeker , and I thought "I've never seen her before! who is she?" and of course, I've seen Raffine before! She looks amazing in that picture!

    46. Aw, if you can, I think everyone deserves a new doll this year! I hope you can get Leonard, @Quiet and Insane :D

Does anyone know how Iplehouse layaway works? I read if you spend over $1000, you can choose 4 payments, first one being immediate. But what about under $1000? Thanks :D

    47. @Frillseeker

She looks great. She reminds me of a beautiful senorita for some reason...

      @IngieBee

Under 1000 you have three payments. one immediately and then one each month for the next two months. You get to choose it while you are checking out. You can see the date the next payments are due in My Iple.

    48. Thank you @Bren. The doll I want is not on sale, in fact I'll need to do doll choice, so I might as well wait for new years or so. I need to do a Grace photoshoot, give her some love :D

    49. You are welcome.
A heads up. You usually can't do layaway on doll choice and it's usually more money since this time around they drop the price to regular instead of their usual higher up price. Don't know if you knew that.

So sometimes, if the doll is not on sale, but you can do layaway on her, it's easier on the wallet. You can also save the money and pay it all at once.

    50. Well I've already bought a doll for myself this year, and I am trying to stick to a one doll/body or two heads rule so that I can save up to get some fancy clothing made for them...but uh...the temptation of new resin is always there. My wishlists are very clear cut and prioritized as a result...but when one of the more expensive of the lot goes on sale...
I've got a good week to think about it at least, and I'm certainly not going to be out of pocket because I've been saving for a different doll...
