Iplehouse Discussion ( YID, nYID, SID, EID ) Part 06

Nov 11, 2015

    1. EID heads look fine on the SID bodies, not odd at all, in my opinion.

See my Rebecca above for one example, and here is another...

Eva on the left is on her "proper" SID body, but Aurora on the right is an EID sculpt that I've always been very happy with on the SID body. Both bodies are large bust.

    2. You can just copy the URL from the top of the page instead of the Gcode for the image. That's what I usually do :)

Oh and I love that pic btw :D

    3. Um.... I know this is a long shot, but does anybody have a Vera and an Aurora they can show me side by side?? I've been trying to choose between the two of them for a character of mine. I thought Aurora would be perfect for the longest time, but then Vera came out, and she was similar, but softer, and now I'm not sure which one of them would be right. :pout:
(I'm bad and she's quite a Mary-Sue character. Call it a shameless indulgence... :sweat )

    4. Thanks very much - I knew it had to be easier than I was making it out to be. I guess I can sneak in the other picture I wanted to post here, since it's a separate post.

Caoilainn, DC WS Aurora, complete with glamour tatas...

Her gorgeous faceup is by Lyn Raftis.

And Miss_Pygmalion, I can do a pic of Vera and Aurora together, but the resins aren't the same color. Does that matter to you?

      • x 2
    5. Aaaah, yay, thank you so much! No, it doesn't matter about color too much. I just want a real side-by side comparison of them, to compare head size, face shape, etc.
      Might I request a straight-on shot, and a profile shot? :eusa_pray

    6. I'll try to get pics for you tomorrow. :)

    7. :sumomo::sumomo::sumomo::sumomo::sumomo::sumomo:

You are such an accommodating darling! <3 Thank you so much!! :D

    8. Sorry, no help with the glamour bust, but I can do SID/EID headswaps!

NSFW - Stella and newYur (medium bust EID, large bust SID):

Works like a charm if you ask me.

    9. Thank you so much!! I think I will go with the glamour for her, but she's at the end of my list and I'm going to get my Grace (who will have the large bust) first and see how I like that. She'll be the deciding factor for me on size lol

And Jany thanks for that comparison! There's a light brown Pamela on the SID body they had for auction forever ago and she looks very nice on the body! She also has the glamour bust so that's why I'm even considering it, she looks really good with it haha! Also knwoing the character she would be shelling, she'd say this: "I'd rather my boobs be too big than too small. At least you can do something with mine *looks at Lacie* and I won't look like a 12 year old boy :P" while Lacie rages in the background lol

    10. Rania is here! I think she turned out really great and I hope to see more versions of her soon!

    11. she's amazing and looks better in good lighting (better than the iple story pics).

    12. @callasdoll she is gorgeous! Her makeup is much softer and more flattering in person, too! Congratulations!

      • x 1
    13. Thank you Lady Tiku and fishcake! I wish Iplehouse would use different skin tones in their promo pics. I have a feeling they would get more orders!

    14. I am surprised at Rania's sculpt. She looks to me a lot like an overworked career-led cannot-cope-anymore woman. Very modern.

Could anybody enlighten me regarding the knees of the newest EID woman body? Are they single jointed or double jointed? They all look single-jointed to me.

    15. double lol... they all are... in the front the knee covers the peanut part of the joint for a smooth look when straight...

    16. Congrats! Yes she looks much here than on the website, she looks so regal, and the makeup is less harsh.

    17. @callasdoll she's divine - I loved the pics on the website but she's even more stunning IRL pics!

    18. @callasdoll she is amazing! The soft make up makes her look even more elegant.

    19. @Lilla here is the knee pulled on on an EID lady:
You almost never see it because if you want to have your girl lean forward and put her arm around her knee--she can't. No waist joint! Also I think if my girl was strung a little looser it would help with the underbust joint, but right now it's very hard to move her shoulders forward. You can see what the rest of her leg is doing here:
      The hip gap.

    20. Hello everyone! I'm sure this has been answered several times over, but the search function doesn't want to cooperate with me. :\

What clothing can fit a SID male?

I just received my Giorgio today and he's almost double the width of my other 65cm, so they can't share clothes! Has anyone had any luck?

    21. Clothes from Iplehouse or Freedom Teller--and that is all I have found that reliably fits if you want "normal" clothes. Otherwise you have to sew your own, commission things or buy tops from Build-a-Bear ;)

    22. Congrats on getting Giorgio :)

I haven't tried anything else other than Iplehouse clothes on my SID myself, but you might want to check out the below link for ideas :)

      What fits Iplehouse SID Man?

    23. Build a bear, oh lord! Thanks for the info, though. May have to start sewing, those options are expensive!

@Forever Thanks so much for the link! Iplehouse does make gorgeous dolls but I had no idea the proportions were so different.

    24. Wait, does the Build-A-Bear stuff actually fit? Cause they have awesome clothes x_x

    26. @Lady Tiku , ah! This was what puzzled me! :3nodding:

@fishcake , I cannot believe this engineering :aeyepop:. I mean, this is one of the most successful BJD company, and they still haven't tackled the knee and hip sections. These are very useful pictures, very informative. It explains a lot. Thanks for taking the time of taking them and posting them!
Love your boy in his outfit!

    27. Actually, you can use the mobility joint to raise the leg without pulling the hip out of the socket, but it has its limitations too. I used to have a thread with a bunch of posability example photos, but somehow the most useful one got deleted from my scrapbook. Mind you, this is the old body before they upgraded the joints:

    28. part of the issue is that often (not always and it's getting better) you loose either smooth visual aesthetics or mobility. you can't have both (yet). And Iple prefers the aesthetic first. They 'did' improve the guys hip in the HID doll so that he has an easy time with sitting with his hip at a right angle rather than needing to be laying back a bit.

    29. @Lilla I took a bunch of posing photos yesterday--I'll stick them on my blog--as long as you go slow and use your hands to pull joints, you can get the female Eid to do quite a few poses and she holds them without wiring or sueding. I think the thing I dislike most is the ankles--she can't point her toes and not having the ball there means there are fewer "legs apart" standing poses she can do. On the other hand, she stands like a rock and sits very nicely, unlike the Fairyland 65 girl :| The male SID is really fun to pose--I can get him to do almost anything I want, and he's been played with so much he's a total noodle. Thank you too! (That was a Halloween outfit, the toddler Dragon costume)
@Sianserais Didn't you have a whole posing series with her? I seem to remember seeing it...
      @Kazegoroshi Thank you :D
@Lady Tiku I haven't ever handled the Iplehouse boy EID, but someone told me his job was to "stand around and look sexy" :) (It might have been luluna. <3

    30. Yep, but a number of the photos seem to have vanished from the site I stored them on. I'm a bit annoyed with them right now.
As for the EID men, the new joints were definitely an improvement. My Leonard poses better than my SID boys (but then he's strung really tight).

    31. Aristocracy at taobao makes clothes for EID and SID man.

    32. @Sianserais , your girl looks fantastic! I don't know which sculpt she is but she looks wonderful! :D

@Lady Tiku , I wouldn't have a problem with joints if I wasn't moving my crew so often. I keep posing them, so anything not 'flush' is giving me 'aesthetic visual aches'.

@fishcake , thanks for these pics! I am in two minds about the EID body. It is very beautiful, now I don't know if I could cope with the knees and elbows' look when they are fully used. *head scratch*

@Sianserais , that's good to know, I have grown fond of Leonard! :D

    33. Oh that's my first EID woman, Luna. ^_^ I took those photos because at the time quite a few people were asking about how the mobility joints worked. And as for Leonard, he's a great sculpt, isn't he? <3 But any EID man with the newer joints should be capable of the same. (And there are definitely doll bodies out there I would never buy because of the way the joints look when bent, so I know how that goes.)

    34. I wish Kestrel (my EID girl) was that stable... I swear her ankles are the most ridiculously unsteady things in the entire history of unsteady things. As long as I have her in boots she'll stand reasonably well, but the instant I put her into anything without that additional ankle support she folds like that joint was made of jello. <_<

I've tinkered with her elastic tension, I've tried plivering it, I've tried hot glue... No dice. If I want to take a photo of her in a standing pose she either has to be wearing boots or she has to be (very firmly) braced against something that can support most of her weight. Typically that means Cardinal (Who, thankfully, stands like a rock. It's the one and only pose he does well. ), but I've been toying with the idea of actually investing in a heavy-duty stand of some sort for her. Either that, or giving up on her entire non-boot shoe collection. >_>

    35. @Brightfires I actually wondered yesterday if I could make her some custom ankle balls/feet out of sculpey and that would help..but tight boots do help! And different individual bodies seem to work differently; I did have a SID body that just Would Not Stand no matter what I did--I think if the pieces come out of the mold with too much space--even a tiny, tiny space, that joint isn't stable :ablah:
It's weird, too--Iplehouse spent a long time getting the hips to work the way they wanted with that fussy ratchet and stop assembly, but I think the ankles have been the same since Jessica wobbled off the assembly line.

strong females come in all shapes, sizes and species ;)

    37. Yeah I have 3 SID boys and two have some standing issues, but that's mostly due to me sticking them in thick heeled boots. My Edan stands the most solidly of my dolls, I can plop him down ANYWHERE and he stands like a champ. Both my Felix and Shane I have to watch like a hawk, my Felix more as he has the older feet and has always had issues with his ankles even though they've been sueded. Just the other day he crashed into a mirror and put a minor dent in his nose.
I think the biggest difference is with my two nYID girls though, my Bliss who is older has issues with her knees, they are very loose and I'll have to restring her tighter soon, her knees are sueded as well. My Mari though, she can fully hold her knees bent and stands very well. I can get her to stand on one leg with her other knee bent back so her calf is touching her butt. Her arms also pose better than my Bliss, but that might be due to how much I play with my Bliss.
HOLY CRAP!! SHE IS GORGEOUS!!! Amazing job!!

    38. Wow! The gold really looks great on her! Nice job!

    39. Stunning :D

I love her. Soooo hoping that they rerelease the Panther someday because she is gorgeous.

      Congrats :aheartbea

    40. Holy smokes!!!!! She is stunning. She looks so real.

    41. Thanks a lot guys!! I'm so proud and happy I own her and I successfully painted her both heads~ still thinking something body marks too, but I was stressing how I can paint animal heads.. but she looks fun, I love her!! :D Do you think I can post BO of her arrival or is it forbidden as well? Sometimes I feel this forum has weird rules..

    42. I would love to see her BO. She is a bjd, so i see why not.

    43. Unfortunately, I think they would take it down if you did. Unless you had an on-topic doll in the box-opening photos too. You could link to your photos elsewhere, though!

    44. I asked this from one moderator! Sadly I don't have any good sharing gallery accounts for them as I don't have a blog and I don't use Flickr that way either, only for storing any kind of trash and hoping no one would follow the account XD I put some pics on FB and Insta, but they're different.. blaaaaaaah nevermind!

    45. It wouldn't hurt if we ask them to reconsider that rule anyway. I mean, a lot of the newer animal BJDs fit all of the other requirements. They might be more likely to listen if we get a petition going, though.

    46. I think they have to allow such dolls on the forum. The are resin, ball-jointed and have inserted eyes.

    47. they are not allowed... I've asked and the issue of 'pet' dolls are still under review... they lack the 'humanoid' aspect. is the main issue.

you can post them but only with allowed dolls as yet.

    48. Oh, i see. Well, maybe one day they will change this rule.

    49. They replied that it must include an ontopic doll with her :/ glad my Pandora has an owner but she's a Soom doll XD you'll see Soom on Iple threads soon.. sorry not sorry!

    50. I won't complain :thumbup

    51. A shiny new thread to continue: Part 7!

      :)
