Was your first doll a boy or girl?

All my dolls so far have been boys. I guess I'm more invested in a lot of the male characters in my stories and play, though certain female dolls are absolutely striking in ways that are rare for me with males. So who knows! Personal preferences are weird

 

Boy, because I am not interested in girl.

 

A boy, because I have trouble drawing male bodies, so I got a boy to help me in the job!
*also, they have some kind of charm that end up making me have a preference for them, I don't know why*

 

My first doll was a boy. I've found that I'm mostly drawn to boy dolls because, like... western boy dolls have always been so underwhelming so it's nice to have a large variety of really beautiful male dolls.

Nothing against the ladies, I just think there's a certain novelty to collecting boy dolls.

 

Most of the dolls I've owned/dolls on my wishlist are girls but I do hope to own a boy one day!

 

I love boys, actually, all my bjd are boy, even I got more than 50 of them... However, i do love girls when it comes to mdd and dd. I still have boy version in those collections, even Volks does not have a boy body for it.

 

My first doll was male, and all my humanoid dolls so far are (at least anatomically) male. I guess it has something to do with my aesthetics/the kind of characters I tend to create, though I hope the trend toward more diverse body shapes continues to grow (for all genders) so that everyone can get dolls that suit them/fit their characters.

 

My first one was a boy and most of them are boys. I got three MSD girls but I got them because I can dress them as boys if I really wanted to haha.

 

amusingly I mainly have interest in male dolls, but thanks to my sister my first doll was a female doll of her choosing to help me get into the hobby. I'm still looking for the right male doll to purchase. A lot of the ones I've seen that I want are either no longer being made or haven't been put up second hand. So for now just waiting for new releases to see what comes up! There are some that currently are available that interest me, but they aren't exactly what I want.

 

I originally bought a girl doll! I found girl dolls very approachable and liked all the cute outfit options. I currently have two girl dolls but I really want to add boys to my collection (I actually have my first boy on layaway now!) I think I lean more towards female dolls but I def want to have all kinds \o/

my first was a boy! i prefer boys but tbh girls tend to be prettier in my opinion .... also i have no qualms about getting him a dress lol. all of the dolls i'd want to buy now are boys too--but i do have a pukifee who i regard as a girl, because i got her secondhand and the former owner had her as a girl too.

I can appreciate how guys have straightforward clothing options, but I want to have the full range of clothing and accessory styles to play with, so I'm definitely looking forward to having a girl to dress up!

 

First doll is a girl, by now I have mix of both gender. My boys tend to have this stoic masculine vibe going on that its just easier to let the girls be the "cute/bishie boy" type character for projects. The girls end up stealing most of the clothes anyway.

My first doll was a girl (Dollfie Dream), but I then realized that I prefer boy dolls, and that I'm not into Dollfie Dreams so I sold her. I currently have 13 boys and only 2 girls!

 

Even though the first BJDs I came across were girl dolls from Volks I never felt the urge to get any. I went for close to 8 years in the hobby before I got the first girl doll home, but she only came home because I'm a huge fan of Merida and wanted to have her in resin. Today they're 3 and I haven't got any plans to bring more home, mainly because the kind of clothing and shoes I want you can't get for girl dolls, not when it's all mainly pastels, dresses, and high heels.

 

Mine are all girls, dunno why. I havent found a male sculpt i really like yet ;_;

 

My first is a boy, but I'll admit I'm very picky about the body sculpts. I do tend to find more girl bodies that I enjoy rather than the boy bodies.

 

My first doll was a girl and have only added ladies to my doll family! I thought about getting a boy when Fairyland released Altis, but I find more enjoyment dressing up ladies since they can wear pants and dresses, haha!

I plan to get only boy dolls. To be honest, I’m a little shocked that so many people say they prefer girl dolls because boys are limited in clothing. I completely disagree! There are infinite ways to dress either gender, even without “cross dressing.”

 

The first BJD I bought is a girl (say 'is' because she is still with me). I have girls and boys in my collection now though.

 

My first was a boy, although the sculpt I bought had more of a petit face. The reason is that I had a ton of girl dolls growing up and I really wanted to expand my collection by getting boy doll. Although I prefer girl dolls now. I just never bought a girl BJD

 

A girl. I actually don't presently have any plans for male-bodied dolls, though I do like some "masculine" facial sculpts (honestly, I feel like that's a bit of a fib, since the styles of sculpts I tend to like could easily go in either direction on the gender spectrum).

My first doll was my girl Sonora! She's an Abio Angel "Shi" and my friends found her for me, and covered half the price. I'm pretty fond of her, (though I am thinking of re-shelling her as a different character). So far, she's my only girl. My other 2 dolls are boys.

 

My first doll was a boy and the very next was a girl, and I've more or less been buying them in the order: boy, girl, boy, girl. Long term I plan to have a pretty even number of each. Since I've been styling everyone in very high fantasy looks I've not really been taking their gender into consideration with their clothes at all It's fantasy, I get to do whatever I want!!

 

My first BJD was a boy, It was a FantasyDoll Mathan Elf ! But sadly I prefer SD/70cm male bjd so i've finally sold him.. :')
