    2. This has just appeared on Dollsphere, so I'm raising awareness ...

A Taobao seller, Romantic in Apertures, has made their own option feet for Volks girls. They're offering 3 types: heeled feet (same arch/size as SDGrG's heeled leg), super high-heeled feet (these will fit Fan/FF's heeled shoes), and ballet feet.

These option feet are offered as colour matched to PS normal/fair, white, and sunlight/tan. They're sculpted to fit Volks' existing ankle balls for SD, SD13, SDGrG and SD16, so you won't need to buy a separate ankle ball, though RiA is offering their own version too.

Dollsphere is the dealer for these feet - here's the product page and Instagram promo. This is Taobao product page if you want to buy it directly from Romantic in Apertures.

According to the Taobao product page... for now, this is a preorder that is currently open and goes until 30 October. There is a MOQ (minimum order quantity) of 50 units per colour. So if you're interested in these feet, especially in tan (since this colour is less popular and is likely to struggle to make MOQ), perhaps consider joining the preorder. :3nodding:

I personally am interested in these feet in tan, for my tan SD13 girlie, so I hope it makes MOQ!

    3. @aihre Thanks for sharing! I've ordered a tan pair of heels so my girl can finally wear her FCS shoes :whee:

    4. I just noticed that he has Momo as the face up artist! I thought she retired! That's really cool. He's a very special rare boy ^^

    5. Reisner has always been a sculpt I love but didn't feel the need to own, but goodness that is a really wonderful Reisner! He's definitely the one I'd try for, though I think I'll just be hoping someone here gets him and posts lots of photos.

The Alto looks like a troublemaker, I like that faceup a lot, too. And I've saved the photos of the Ciera Angela; she looks a lot like what I've always been going for with my School C, maybe it will inspire me to give my girl a better faceup. She looks so concerned, I want to hug her.

    7. Oh no same. The Volks USA ones are lovely but not my cup of tea. These, however... I would be happy with half the girls on that page! That Cindy in particular is gorgeous. Never wanted to bring one home, but I do appreciate seeing some of their older sculpts with the current day face up techniques and styles. Just gorgeous!

    8. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise for me that Volks always releases less boys :sweat I’m safe from a lot of these lotteries as a result. But it’s still always fun to see so many lovely dolls ! Good luck to everyone entering!

    9. Just goes to show that a lot of the sculpts are actually timeless. Sometimes people talk about the "older" doll heads as if they're outdated aesthetics, but to be honest, I think it has to do with face makeup trends and not the face sculpt itself. Obviously, art is subjective, sometimes a certain makeup style on a certain head is what makes it click for someone which is why I'm glad they do different makeup styles for full choice and continue to bring out "older" sculpts from the early 2000s with different makeup.

We've come a long way since the early 2000s makeup-wise, but you still see a lot of excitement over Cyndy or Shiro Tachibana or Suigintou when they pop up.

    10. OMG Cyndy is gorgeous. Don't have a membership anymore so I think I am safe, aside from the fact that tariffs would be ouch!

    11. I think what I am learning from this year's crop of one-offs is that I really like Volks dolls with a less neutral expression! The troublemaker Alto and the smiley F-119 are definitely my favorites.

    12. Such beautiful dolls being offered this time. Good luck to the participants! Thankfully my wallet is safe for now. Lol! My FCS Pureskin Tan F-01 girl is shipped! Here's to hoping she has a safe arrival in light of recent international shipping issues.

    13. Oooooo Journey to Dream Nights - The Happy Prince.

They posted this doll announcement officially on their Twitter and it's a super deep-cut, but did anyone as a kid have a bargain bin VHS of a fairytale anthology dubbed in English but it was drawn in 1970s Showa-retro animation style before anime was a thing in the US? This aesthetic style reminds me of that exact video.

I found the Japanese version of the footage of The Happy Prince story, but I can't find the English dub:

It always made me depressed. lol

    14. Oh my god the new boy has my heart! I just sold my last SD body because clothing was too hard to find for what I typically buy. But look at him! Maybe I'll try one more time to bond with the size.

      • x 1
    15. @Grimoire : Wow that video definitely feels like a source of where they drew their inspiration from! Thanks for sharing

The new dolls are very pretty... I'm sure the Prince will be customized as a lovely boy and girl in the future. Thanking my stars I am in not in danger for any of the new releases. Still debating on entering for a one-off during the holiday event. I enter every year (and lose) as is tradition!

    16. Good luck to all who enter!! I entered for Kurumi, Cyndy, and F-97.:D

I’m not drawn to any of the Volks USA holiday greeting one offs this year so I suppose no entries there for me!

    17. I went to Japan on holiday in September and did a bunch of BJD-related things, including visit Tenshi-no-Sato in Kyoto. I brought Zhara (SD-F-26) there and did the omukae ceremony with her.

I posted more pics of Zhara in the gallery thread here. Also blogged a series of travelog posts on my BJD blog - here's the Tenshi-no-Sato post including my experience of the omukae ceremony. Visiting Sato was really special, I'm glad I got to go!

    18. @aihre : Congratulations on getting to do such a special trip. Your F26 is so beautiful. I love that particular sculpt so much and yours is just stunning! <3

    19. Thank you, going to Sato was a special treat, especially since this was also my first time travelling to Japan. I also adore F-26, her eyes are so distinctive for a Volks sculpt. :love A bit of a shame this sculpt is discontinued now, I hope other owners will continue to share pics!

    20. Thanks for the post! The Tenshi no Sato post was very nostalgic for me. I went a couple times when I lived in Japan 2007-2011. I ordered FCS dolls twice and entered for a one off once and won my Tony. One of my FCS orderes was an F26 girl on a Seitenshi body. Her name is Kozuru. Sad she's being disco'd. When I went you had to have a Japanese address to enter for one-offs; they would not ship overseas. Do you know if that is still the case?

    21. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the blog post ^^

I'm afraid I don't know for sure. GL members can apply for Sato one-offs -- it was stated on the paper application I received, and also mentioned on the website. (Whereas GL cannot apply for Sumika and Mado one-offs.) But I had no intention of joining lottery so I didn't think to ask about the procedure.
Based on the info on this webpage, my feeling is that Volks will still not ship overseas. So presumably, you'd have to have a Japan address long enough to go through the whole process of applying for, winning and collecting a One-off. But I can't confirm this.

    22. You can email them and ask. They're pretty good about answering questions, in my experience.

    23. I just wanted to drop in and share my newest boy :D I saw him on Mandarake last month, and he had such a subtly beautiful faceup, plus I had always wanted an F-16 way back in the day— so home he is! Still trying to think of a name though.

    26. Lovely dolls. @Insane-Chan - your F16's face is gorgeous. Makes me nostalgic for this guy <3

@Bonjourami : Your girls are stunning, but I'm particularly drawn to your Chieko... she has a very sassy look which I love!

    27. Thank you! She’s my sassy girl

    28. Wishing folks luck as JP one off emails are going out. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some winners here for either that or the US lottery soon!

Paying my doll tax with a very funky new arrival. She is an auction model from 2005, released at Dolpa 13. She's a "Super Dollfie Dream" Mirai, one of only two casts in the world!

    29. I got a winning email last night for the One Off SD-F106 :D!!! I still can’t believe it!

That is such an incredible find; I had never heard of a Super Dollfie Dream! I love that era of like mid 2000s anime faces especially hers :D

    30. Thank you! I was so so confused at first :XD: but I absolutely adore her!

And congratulations on your win! That is so exciting, I hope you'll post a photo here when she arrives! :love

      Congrats!

    32. Congratulations!

    33. Has anyone heard any US Lotto results? I'm wondering if I just lost and have no idea - but I haven't seen anyone post about winning one of them yet, so I'm deluding myself that I still have a chance!

    34. Haven't heard anything yet. If I remember correctly, Volks USA gave a vague "late November" date for notifying winners. Perhaps they'll send out winning emails late tomorrow afternoon, with payment expected over the Thanksgiving weekend.

    35. I also haven't heard any Volks USA lottery results! Entered for Alto and am still hopeful because the month hasn't ended yet.:eusa_pray

    39. @OneMoreLight :  well nuts! Guess the emails did go out then. Thanks for the information. I hadn't seen anyone post they won yet, so I wasn't sure. Congrats to anyone out there who got one! :)

    40. 5 days ago? That was quick! Guess I didn't win either xD

    41. I don't know what it is with volks, you get one and then they somehow multiply constantly :sweat This is a new-to-me F-22, a really fun face to paint!

    45. Hi guys!:D
I realised I haven’t popped in here for… way too long. No idea how that happened:(

Anyway, sharing a few fresh pics of Lucas — he looks kinda real in these somehow, it made me smile.:love

    46. He looks amazing @Kykycik ! He definitely gives a realistic vibe, I love it!

I've been working on fixing up an old F-13 head I rescued. She's going to become one of my old OCs that's a bunny girl, so her face is sort of modeling that look. Before I did a bunch of sanding and reshaping, her mouth and nose were almost completely destroyed, as were her eyelids. She's been great to practice doing restorative work on, becoming her own sculpt.

    49. I finally figured out how to post pics to DoA lol, I know Im showing my age here but man do I miss Photobucket!

Anyway, I got a new dress for my girl! But now I’m running into the age old problem of finding a place to store her clothes. What do you all do for clothes storage?

      • x 12
    50. Giant storage tubs.
One for each size, with outfits usually individually bagged so I can keep track of things and prevent lace etc from snagging.

      • x 2
    51. Oh that's really smart! And here I was looking at doll furniture like I have space for all that as well...

    52. Ditto on the missing photobucket -picture posting was so much easier then. I have learned to use flickr but still hate it.

On the clothing storage thing. I use the plastic pull out drawer things for the larger size clothing. I have one for boy and one for girls in SD -ish size and one for western and one for kimono (the majority of my crew is 1/3rd scale) My Yos are all girls so they have one caboodles case. There is also a caboodles case or pull out drawers for each size of shoes. 1/3rd Volks type 1/3rd Iple type 1/4 and 1/6th.

    53. I caved at a listing a fellow hobbyist had up somewhere and now I have this lovely Volks Minoru. The eyes I put in him are a placeholder but in general, he's a really nice sculpt! Please excuse the background stuff, ahaha.

    57. Hello! Does anyone here happen to have a School C head and could tell me what size wigs it takes? It seems a bit narrower in comparison to some other heads, but with Volks I'm pretty sure I won't get away with 8-9 in any case... The exact head circumference would also be helpful if anyone can measure :)

    58. I have a School C, and got about 23 cm. She's in a 9-10 right now, though I've had her in Volks 8-9; this wig is Leeke, so it's down to stretch or not stretch. But 9-10 is probably more often the safer choice. (Most of my Volks dolls can wear a Volks 8-9, but no one else's.)
