Contest Triathlon Round 3 - The Magic Moment!

Well, not super happy with this one, but I tried! I finished so I’ll count that as a victory. Ish.

 

So much work, so little time! So many grand ideas! Have I mentioned the so little time part?

 

Gah finally more or less finished the 'build' section of my one - time to focus entirely (I've been making bits all week whilst working on the structure) on the remaining few props and finishing touches... (Ignoring the terrifying key part of my design that will either work or fail spectacularly. Ulp!) My ambition exceeded my reach by quite some margin with this one! But I think the concept I went for is very fun

 

This could, word to word, be exactly where I'm at right now. So rather than write it again I'll just quote this!

Congrats to all of you who've already finished! And to all of us still in the middle of making these: we can do this!!

 

I had to stop and enter what I had. I'm not happy with it, but everyone is sick at my house. So my plans had to scale back. At least it was at a point where I could enter something. I can't wait to see everyone's entries! They're going to be amazing!

 

Everyone's sick at my house, too. I've been taking care of my daughter and husband for the last two weeks. Now I'm so close to being done my entry and I woke up this morning vomiting. I think my body was holding it off through sheer stubbornness so I could finish. I should be able to finish the last couple of things, though.

There are some things about mine that didn't exactly turn out like I imagined, but overall I'm satisfied enough. At the very least I think I will be able to use it again in the future which is pretty cool.

I entered the triathlon once before when I was very new to the hobby and it forced me to lean how to make a wig for the first time and that was awesome, but this will be my first year doing all 3 events which has been so fun.

 

I am so looking forward to seeing the round three entries! My hat is off to all of you, including those who made it through only 1 or 2 events. It's obvious that these challenges are a huge time commitment, as well an arena where we can see just how creative the community is. It blows me away to see the different ways people interpret each challenge, and I'm sure round 3 will be no different.

So, those of you who may be losing steam, know that many of us bystanders are cheering you on!

 

Not long now until I/we can see all the contestants final entries! Can't wait to see what you've all come up with, you guys are amazing!

 

Phew. Made it! This whole saga has been so challenging but productive.

Welp - my entry is entered. My photos, as ever, are absolutely terrible, but it's been fun! Good luck everyone!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone's made for this round, without going into specifics, some of the themes have been particularly intriguing so I'm really curious as to what sort of sets everyone has aimed for.

 

I think I'm done! And that after thinking yesterday that my project was just too big and I'd have to drop out.

Now to transfer some photos to my computer and see if they look okay....

 

Don’t feel bad- my photo quality has been pretty awful becuase my last camera went kaput last year. Eventually, I’ll buy a new one but I’m using my iPhone this year and... Yeeea. Lol

 

Entered just now, and I have to say I'm really happy considering this is my 1st attempt at a diorama of this size (or any actually), some things I'm not too fond of since I didn't have time to think them through of fix them, and some things I wish I could have added, but couldn't due to time, but "ll be able to expand on in the future. Most unfortunate thing was that it was really windy today and there's not a lot of space inside the house, so I've got a bit of background clutter in my photos, and I told my Mom I can't accompany her to get groceries, but she just had to get me to go with her on the busiest week.

Phew! Just submitted my entry! It's been such a challenging past few weeks and now I'm looking forward to RELAXING. Can't wait to see everyone else's amazing entries! It's been fun!

I knew hoarding craft supplies (=buying everything I liked in craft stores in the last 10+ years) would come in handy one day! Definitely helped me stay on budget

Edit: Submitted! Phew. This one took a lot longer than expected. I can sleep now.

 

AHHHHHHHH SOMETHING WENT TERRIBLY WRONG AND THIS IS BAD. Give me your strength because now finishing has gotten dicey. And of course I'm 99.9% done!

I just submitted mine. I wish the pictures were better since I think it looks a lot better in person but I am sick and it's the best I can manage. Hopefully people will see how awesome it is. I've been working on this all day, every day, since Sunday. I can't believe it's over and I can relax now.

 

I just submitted mine. I didn't get to be as elaborate as I initially wanted, but that's life. Really, even if the only thing I plan to keep is my outfit, it was still fun playing along I love this challenge every year. It always pushes me outside of my comfort zone, and I always learn a little something along the way.

 

All of you saying how terrible your stuff turned out, and I just know when they go up, I'm going to be looking and going "Terrible? Where?? This look awesome!"

Meanwhile, I took my pix with perfect timing because now my diorama is sagging, collapsing, tape is popping loose and at least one part of it is beyond repair at this point. But hey, you can't tell it in the photos, and that's what matters! Right?

 

Me, too! After I finished taking pictures, I moved my diorama to another room and a piece fell off and part of it tipped over.

 

Hah! I'm having the opposite problem to most people - mine was intended to be recyclable due to space reasons from the offset... So of course it's proven an absolute b**** to disassemble again - I built it too well!

 

Half of my original diorama and props are in pieces across my kitchen floor, but I've turned in what's left. I'm disappointed, but so incredibly happy that I finished and had enough left to scrape together an entry!

Edit: Also submitted wrong pic but crossing my fingers I fixed it!

 

So excited to see everyone's entries! This was super super hard and time consuming but I'm very proud of my entry.

 

Finally done and done! I was sure I was ready hours ago, but then I went back about 5 times to try and take better pictures... I'm still not sure I managed to make the photos look as nice as the room looks irl, but at least it's finally submitted! xD I really hope some of the effort I put into this for the whole week shows through. I can't wait to be able to post the better but non-eligible pictures I took, not to mention to use this prop with my doll's everyday look.

I'm so sorry to hear about the last minute disasters some have faced. D: I hope everyone is still proud of themselves for finishing the marathon! It'll be hard to wait for the voting thread to come up!!

 

Whew! I did it! I'm not expecting to win anything and I may not have done the best job, but this has been so fun and challenging and I'm still really proud of myself. Can't wait to see what everyone has done! You should all be proud too!

 

I'm considering taking a new picture of my doll just standing there in shock at the terrible craftsmanship of this thing and sharing after the contest is over.

 

You could put a sledgehammer in her hand and pretend she's doing demolition.

 

Wow, I really cut it down to the last second with this. The amount of work I put into all the projects was absolutely insane and though I challenged myself, I will admit I caused a lot of undue stress to myself too when I know it's impossible to place in the event. I saw it through because I didn't want to be a quitter and to carry out my vision. But I'm afraid I'll not be participating ever again. XD;

 

I really want to see that!

HUGE admiration for you and everyone else who has spent countless hours on these challenges!

 

Well, now I guess I have to do it! lol

I feel that it's next to impossible for me to win a prize either, but I also think there's something to be said for anyone's determination and skill to finish a triathlon. It is hard, it is a rush to get it done and it can be very stressful when you're under that pressure. Still, considering out of the thousands of people on DoA, usually under 50 finish the triathlon, so it's a real accomplishment and something to be proud of doing! Even if you decide never to do it again, I'm still proud of you for not giving up this year!

My entry is quite a permanent item, and but I don’t know where to store it, lol. I spent so much time on this entry, I got over stressed and it’s taken me days to recover. It was totally enjoyable though!

Yes, I’d love to see more pictures after the event is over. I love seeing other’s work. It’s so inspiring!

 

Mine collapsed too, lol. But I built it to be temporary. I don't have the space to have something that big up all the time!
I can't wait to see everyones entries. It's been so inspiring to see everyones hard work

It's great to finally see the finished entries in their entirety! I'm amazed at how high quality the work all the contestants submitted was, especially given the short time frame

 

Wow I’m so impressed at what you were all able to do in one week with only a $20 budget!

 

I would love to have my dolls visit these dioramas!

 

Holy crap! This is going to be the hardest round of voting yet! I truly enjoyed every diorama in the competition and so many of them are just outstanding. I don't know how I'm going to choose just 4!

 

I hope I can puzzle out who made some of these entries after voting is over because I have questions about some of these techniques, I want to try too!! Teach me your ways!!

Unbelievable! My hat’s off to each and every one of you for your amazing entries! So many creative and inspiring dioramas...frankly, you blew me away!

I can’t remember if I looked at entries and voted or if I didn’t vote yet. it does give me the option to vote now, but I wouldn’t want to vote twice and get my votes thrown out or something.
