It sounds like the cockroaches are finishing up on the voting thread! Look for the links to appear at 11:59PM EDT (UTC -4:00) tonight! Voting will be open until 11:59PM EDT on August 30th and our winners will be announced on August 31st to close out the Back to Basics Anniversary Celebration.

As someone who doesn't sew, I have been WOWED by all the cool and amazing entries that came our way with this contest. (Next life goal: convince my sewing-wizard neighbor to TEACH ME!!)

Every one of you deserves a beautiful cupcake :pcupcake for participating, for cheering, and soon for voting! Thank you for making this a fun and creative contest. Here's to another wonderful year! :smallcake

    5. Excellent!
I can't wait to check on it :D

      This is fun =^.^=

      • x 1
    6. I'm so excited to see all the entries!

      • x 2
    7. Same! I'm so excited! (I just really wanna see what everyone made because I'm finally so inspired to craft, and got permission to convert my mom's old desk in the basement into a sewing/ crafting desk for myself, so I finally have a place in this house to do my stuff!)

I'm just saying, if you ever do want to learn, I'm more than willing to try to guide you. It's really not hard (just time consuming if handstitching, and time consuming if you sew something shut you shouldn't and have to rip stitches (I am the queen of this. And trying to make my own patterns from scratch, sometimes without even taking measurements. I need to start reusing old working patterns, and taking measurements for ones I make, or just modifying existing ones like I do for me-clothes.)

But seriously, I can do basic guides to sewing. ...maybe I should do that and put one up in the sewing forum, a beginners how to.

    16. Wowwww!!! You all continue to amaze me! Every time I thought I had my top three picked out, I’d scroll a little more and find more I like. There are quite a few in there I’d like to have for my own dolls! Great job, everyone, all of your time and frustrations were worth the end results! <3

      • x 3
    17. Unbelievable! You absolutely redefined the concept of a "sock outfit"! And some of the socks also redefined my idea of what socks look like. :D

      • x 2
    18. the voting pictures are so very inspirational! I will never be able to pass by a sock rack ever again!

    19. I have no idea how I'm going to narrow it down to only 3! Everything looks amazing!

      • x 1
    20. Finally voted, everybody's is so great! <3

    21. Finally placed my vote- let me tell you, it was tough! Amazing job, everyone!

    22. Man that was hard to pick. I feel honored to be among so many amazing doll tailors. You all did so incredible.

      • x 4
    23. Still trying to pick. Honestly I feel a bit intimidated lol. All the entries are amazing.

      • x 1
    24. I've been staring at all of the entries multiple times today, made a list to try to narrow it down...and I'm still agonizing over who to pick! I even asked my husband (who is not in the hobby) to help me narrow it down and even HE couldn't get down to just three! So, I'm off to go through them all again! :XD:

      • x 1
    25. I narrowed mine down by going through all of them, choosing my favorites, and then factoring in craftsmanship and which I'd personally wear or choose for my dolls to wear. But it was so tough, I wanted to choose so many! Y'all made for some really hard choices!

      • x 1
    26. I took a page from people who voted in the customizing contest and wrote stuff down. It was the only way I could keep track.

      • x 1
    27. All I can say is, WOW!

    28. I had so much fun looking through everything and picking what to vote for, Catdude helped, lol. Everyone should be so proud, we had a really lovely turnout this year.

    30. @Lawrichai - aw, thanks! I had a hard time making my decisions on voting, since I felt like everyone deserved a congratulations!

    31. Yes, agreed! It was so nice of you to take the time to do that. :)

      • x 2
    32. Congrats to everyone who entered! Lots of lovely outfits.

      • x 2
    33. Such amazing entries!! There was this one entry (I won't tell which, yet) where I was seriously thinking that if it was made for humans, I would pay to have it in my closet! And I would deffinitly own that specific piece of clothing.

Voting was hard! I picked my absolute favourite, one where I really liked the creative idea of it and one where my eyes first landed one while I was quickly scanning the whole thread.

I would have never been this creative with socks. I think I would have just made a tube dress xD

      • x 4
    34. Voted. Finally. It took me three days, the choice was so hard, and I feel so bad about the ones I didn't pick because they were phenomenal, too. I had to keep reminding myself that the theme is 'basic'.

    40. So many amazing entries! It was extremely hard to choose! I can't wait to see the results!

    41. Will we be able to see if our entry got any votes, or only who the two winners are? :sweat

    43. You could see the results in the customizing contest, so probably? I hope so, I'd really like to know where I ranked. I doubt I'll win, but I've set a personal goal for myself and I'd at least like to know if I came anywhere close to achieving it. :XD:

    45. Just so you guys know, I voted in all the contests, and this was by far the hardest to choose....there was a lot of fabulous in this contest.

      • x 2
    46. What an amazing array of entries!! Good luck to everyone!

    47. You have just under an hour left to vote! Show your support to these awesome entries!

      • x 2
    48. It's midnight! I'm so anxious, I keep hitting refresh over and over, even though I should just go to bed and check it in the morning. haha

      • x 1
    49. Sorry for the double post, but I see the results now, I can go to bed!! XD

Congrats to the winners, I thought your outfits were awesome!

And now that I can say it: The reversible Deadpool/Black Panther outfit was mine!

    50. It is late and your staff needs to sleep, but the results are in!!

      /posts/12502367/

This was both my and @cowpewter's first time to run a major contest and we learned so much! I can't wait until next year! Every day I was just overwhelmed by the number of entries and just how creative each and every one was. I didn't cast my own vote until the last hour just because I couldn't make up my mind!

Thank you to everyone for a fabulous Anniversary sewing extravaganza! Keep saving those socks, you can make gorgeous fashions for your dolls out of them. :D

      • x 5
    51. Well, kind of disheartening but the main reason I entered was just to say that I did. So I accomplished my goal.

#15 you were my favorite entry! I wish I had your talent at designing. I'm happy for you.

@CloakedSchemer That was a fantastic idea. I loved that you get two outfits instead of just one. I'm really curious though as to how you made the sleeves detachable without anything other than thread? I didn't see any loose, dangling threads anywhere so either they were hidden very well or there's another method that I don't know...

Congrats to everyone else as well. Ya'll made it very hard to choose.

    52. Congrats to the winners! This contest was a lot of fun and now I can finally post my outfit and pictures of my doll again( she's been in the outfit for over two weeks now lol)

    53. @dollyolly1 @Masha your entries are amazing :D
Congratulations for this well deserved win!

@CloakedSchemer your suit was so ingenious, I still wonder how you managed to do it, it doesn't even look bulky! :D

My Sith in training track suit tied third place with the super cute Autumn Mori dress <3
This contest was very fun and if it wasn't for it, I would have never considered using socks are materials for doll clothes O.o hehehe

And congratulation to all participants too, we kind of all ended up with a new outfit for our doll's wardrobe.
      :sweat

    54. OMG! Wow thank you so much!!! There were so many amazing entries. It's always fun working on contests for Doa every year. And I'm still a bit in shock that I won!

    56. Thank you, guys, for appreciation of my work!! :love
Many amasing outfits were presented and this is a true honer to take 2nd place!

My Amanda is gratefull as well :D she is happy to be as popular fashion model :dance

    57. @Snyblind ah yes, using other sock's pattern as decals to customize your dress was a very creative idea ^^
Surely it wasn't easy to sew that jersey on without it getting deformed or frayed... ><

    58. @Lawrichai

Lol, our outfits where so similar, in items etc :) (mine was 41)
