Soom Super Gem Discussion (Basic, Limited & Special Order) - Part 11

They are probably referring to the year it was made. For Supergem, I believe there are only three bodies, the original body, the 2012 body and the 2016 body. It should be noted that Soom referred to the 2012 body as the "new body" until the 2016 body was released.

 

I have finally managed to make a decent photo of these two - Margaret and Francis. Francis is my dream which came true
I still have to add a bit of photoshop but I can't wait to share my joy

 

Tangalangaloo: My understanding is this:

The high heeled shoes come with "crippled feet" which make them work. Those feet that you see on the shoes separate away from the shoe for painting. The high heeled human feet are for wearing "regular shoes".

I ordered him in Whiteskin on the 2016 body. I like long and lanky and I have loved the pictures of this new body.

What I was not so crazy about was this: So you buy the doll and EMS shipping is like 770. Then you buy the hands for 32 and EMS shipping is an additional 25. And you buy some feets and EMS shipping is another 25. I did not see any option for buying the doll and having everything thrown in the box for combined shipping.

 

I would check with Soon regarding the crippled feet. I am not sure that is the case in this case.

Are you adding the items to your cart? You should be able to add everything and then go to checkout to buy everything at once.

 

hmmmm. I think I have three separate 'orders'. If you look on my account there are three separate line items.

I followed the ordering process and that is just where it got me.

 

I think you are checking out after each item instead of adding all the items and then checking out. You can ask on the Q&A board and see if they can combine them. If they give you an option to cancel, you could do that and start over.

 

I have tried to leave a message on the Q&A board. I am not able to do that right either. I type my message and then I do not know which key to press to get it posted. I have already tried more than once. What button do you press to get it to post to the Q&A listing?

Hi everyone ♥. Soom got back to me. They will refund the shipping overage in points. (Which I haven't the foggiest idea what to do with.) It is better than nothing.

I have put a question in to them about the shoes....whether you need the toe up feet to make them work. We will see what they say.

 

You can use the points at checkout on a future order. If you need the feet, you can use the points. If you want to add something else to the order, do not pay for it. Ask for them to combine the orders first!

 

The male feet are bigger and I don't think these shoes would fit the female feet. I don't think they have been released before.

 

the girls have had 2 types of heeled feet. regular heel feet for leather/fabric shoes soom sells as basics and very high heeled resin shoes with odd chopped off toes on the feet.
sweet witch is an example with resin heels.
flat feet usually come with the doll.

the boys had a heeled foot recently but no shoes. Nephelin.

Soom has been very quick to manually put my points on my order and my Catwalk shoes, toe-up feet, Elegance hands, and fabulous lime green eyes
are now "before shipping!"

 

I have gotten my reply from Soom on the high heeled shoe parts. I remembered that those high heeled shoe parts were released for Mecha Angels in the past. I have a pair. (But they are NS and I do not want to use them on my white Wolf). The mecha angel shoe parts come with the shoes and with the foot part (with the chopped toes... I call them "crippled feet").

This is their reply:

This means that the toe up feet are for fabricLeather shoes. You do not have to buy them to get the shoe parts to work on the doll.

 

But if feet are included, there should be a selection for the foot skin color.

 

hmmmmm... Now nancy, you have gotten me there. That is a really interesting point. I ordered a white doll and white heel shoes. So, I just figured my "everything" would be all white and that works for me.

But you are right. For the "black shoe" people there should be a skin color choice.

Oh, Soom! Why do you have to be sooooo confusing?

 

it sounds like they mean you can use your "crippled feet" and shoes from your Mecha angel on the Super Gem.
the way the toes are bent on the toe-up feet look like they fit into the resin shoes.
I don't see any fabric shoes for men that need heels.

 

I am soooo confused!

Now to me, what I took that as was: Those ARE the Mecha Angel shoes. They work the same way: With the crippled feet. The crippled feet do not have the toes on the ends and Soom would not have resculpted special shoes for this boy.

But, I look and look at that picture of "just the shoe" and then it makes total sense that you are right. That it is just the shoe one is buying. (But then, they are not showing you two shoes... and you get two shoes!)

I am going to be so upset when I cannot use those shoes when they arrive.


Okay. I have an idea.

Can someone else go over to the Q&A and ask them: Do the toe up feet parts fit into the high heel shoe parts?

I think that they did not understand the question when I asked it. (I do not see why they would have re-designed those shoes, but maybe they did. If I am not able to use those shoes with my Wolf, I am going to be very upset.)

 

I just asked because I thought the toe-up feet would fit into the shoes. need to know if I have to add heel+feet parts to go with the heels.

 

@Cat ^..^ I am wanting those feet / shoes for myself and I need to ask them anyway if the ankles fint for the 2012 body.
I can ask them this question too.
I assume that the highheel parts are without any kind of foot this time but one never knows with Soom xD

 

I asked if the shoes come with feet.

 

Tangmalangaloo: the "crippled feet" are not tip toe feet. They do not look like the new feet that Soom is offering with this guy. What they look like is a foot with a shaved heel and no toes. The toes are chopped off on the "crippled feet". It sounds terrible, but that is what I have always called them.

All of the high heeled resin shoe parts that Soom has offered to date have made use of the "crippled feet". They just slip into the top of the shoe. I think that they make them that way so that the painting of the shoes is easier.

Vesuvia was the first one to come out with this shoe type. She came with the "crippled feet". MissAlly and I spent literally HOURS discussing Vesuvia's shoes and how could they possibly work. We were just fascinated with the little resin shoes.

Anyway, part of my point is: I do not see why Soom would stop using the crippled feet at this point. It is the way that they have always done it.

I think the crippled feet were used for the Supergem females to create a natural line of the resin shoe without making it too thin.

And looking at the price on Soom''s site for a little pair, I really think people are right that it is "just the shoes" with this new guy. There just really should be a note somewhere that the doll cannot wear the shoes unless one buys the toe up feets.

following up, this is reply I got from soom about cat walk heel / toe-up feet:

"Cat Walk High Heel Part and Toe-up Feet is compatible each other.
Additionally, Feet is not included with Heel Part(Heek [sic] only)"

ATYL: Thank you so much on the response for the shoes! That helps me out immensely. (and saves me from not being able to use those shoes that I ordered O_O).

Girrl: Hawley is wonderful! I love the look of that body.

 

The Toe Up feet don't fit into those resin shoes? I really think the Cat Walk doll is gorgeous, but I am almost done getting big resin kids.

 

The toe-up feet DO fit in the resin shoes.

I have ordered Wolf, the elegance hands, the high heeled shoes, and FINALLY I ordered the toe-up feets. I have asked Soom to please combine shipping on all of the items (as I screwed up my ordering ).

The ordering for Wolf is now over. How many of us are getting him? When do you think he will start shipping?

 

I succumbed to Wolf's charms. I would guess it will be the usual 2.5 to 3 months.

 

So, nancy, I guess we should see him by September.

I got both pairs of hands, the toe-up feet, the heels and the basic head. And I did get the outfit so he will have something f his own to wear.

nancy, it is good that you knew what he is. There have been so many Soom boys that I was starting to wonder...

 

The wings are a dead give away! It can be hard to identify a face. They can look so different faceups!

 

You are right about the faceups. I used to be able to identify every Soom and I just cannot any more.

Can you tell from the photo if he is white or lavender?

 

Good question! The hands and forehead look lavender. Especially compared to the wings which I believe were always white.

 

He is lavender, and he is an Arkose, though he has Obsidius legs. Which I dyed from NS to bronze and painted to look like scales.
