The dolls back then didn't have the stick on logo just back the Ringdoll stamp at the neck of the head.

Oh thank you! I didn't realize they changed their markings. But then again hes going to be my very first ring doll sculpt! I'll def look for that when he gets here hopefully on Sat! I'll have photos for you all too since hes a nice sculpt that doesn't have many photos of.

 

This is my first time posting.. Um this is my first ever BJD doll. I have read the novels and honestly fell in love with Wei Wuxian. And I knew he was being made into a BJD but I had no idea when but the day I was looking to order my first BJD I saw a announcement that he was going up for preorder.. I legit made sure I was the first to buy him xD I legit stayed up all night and day and was legit clicking add to cart add to cart it did not let anyone add him to the cart til like noon and I was up til like 3am lol. I ordered him and his husband too. And received him in July. I’m still waiting on his husband tho. Everyone where I live might think I’m weird for spending so much on them but honestly I think it was worth it.. I love him so much. My friend who’s really knowledgeable had me join this website and I hope I could share my love for my Wei Wuxian. and also learn a few things about BJDs that I might not know about.

 

@UtaOPrinceSama Welcome to the Den and Ringdoll dolls. They are definitely worth their price. Your Wei is gorgeous and I eager await the photos when his husband arrives. Congrats!!!!

 

@UtaOPrinceSama Welcome to Den of angels! and to the BJD hobby! Ringdolls has been one of my favorites and I'm getting my very first ringdoll tomorrow (he's a head but it counts ) I look forward to seeing more of Wei and his husband when he arrives!

 

It's been a long wait, but S is currently on his way to me. I think I will be getting a new black/purple wig for him, but I'll test out all of my wigs to find the perfect size for him.

 

Have you guys seen the new teaser? I really like how he looks and I hope his face is nice.

 

Oh he looks nice! He has a smirk going there! Speaking of new dolls. Did they ever announce a halloween limited doll for this year or did I miss or over look it? I haven't seen anything in relation to it.

Edit: Also does anyone happen to know which body Kirin originally used? I'm trying to figure out which one to get for him since I also want a RD outfit lol.

 

I like his smirk as well. It looks like his name is Isak. Ringdoll has already teased his hat and eyes.

 

Oh? Any chance you have a link to the eyes? I'm not Ringdoll savvy yet.

@Quiet and Insane that really is a shame. I missed out on their 2nd Frankenstein when I had a chance. Just xD had a layaway for a different time and couldn't justify getting the pair. So I'm with you on a 3rd one. Or anything related. I love dolls like that!

Thank you for the links! His outfit really does look good! More eye views will be great! o.o Plus if Ringdoll does anything like they done previously they will release it separately. I know i been hard eyeballing Senkai's outfit for Kirin lol. The price tag on it and the possible not fitting the body i get for him has me thinking pretty hard. Plus the extras I have to get for his shoes and feet x.x its like buying an entire doll for a head lol.

He is an old limited boy though so maybe its justified lol or maybe just will keep snooping around in 2nd hand markets for the things.

 

@Pooki You're welcome! They did not release Victory's outfit separately in the past so I hope Isak has a very handsome face if it happens to be limited to his full-set.
I know what you mean about the price. One of my male dolls has an outfit that almost cost as much as him. I don't regret it though.
Oh, and about Kirin's original body. Ringdoll recently updated their website and I can't find him there. I tried to look and found this DeviantArt post from Ringdoll in 2012. I'm not familiar with his release, but it says he was on the RGMbody-01. I'm not sure if they have updated the body since then. You can also e-mail them to ask about the body to be 100% sure.

 

I'll prob get a layaway started soon for his stuff in the next month or so. So maybe by June he'll have a body LOL. I think he's Normal skin so im going to have to take a dive and hope it matches some what since he def has yellowed and I don't think wheat skin existed at that point (would love to see current resin colors for RD). I think it will be worth it for him he's such a lovely sculpt. I'll post him in here once his old face up is removed in prep of his new one. Yep Ironically Ringdoll just got back to me about him since we been emailing to confirm he's legit which he is so I'm happy on that front. The body does seem to of gotten an update since then so thats okay at least. So I'm actually going to guess any of the bodies now would work for him. Just kind of wish I could preview his head on each one lol.

I guess im not actually sure the eye size for him. His current eyes are rather big. He might be better looking with smaller iris's. I'll be trying the 14mm eyes im expecting for a different doll. if they work out in size then great! I feel kind of rusty at the hobby since it been years since I been at it.

@SteamWitch Thank you so much! Your Kirin is super handsome too! I'll def be looking into small iris 14mm then. A eye company I been stalking has that possibility for making some amazing eyes. They just haven't dipped their feet into the BJD community yet so I might see if I can start that as a test run lol.

 

My demon prince Orpheus (S) has finally arrived. This guy needs a throne ASAP! I made a box opening thread for him with some more pictures.

 

So the new doll Ringdoll has been hinting has been revealed! its on their instagram and twitter! He's super handsome! His face has me all in love with him!

 

Oooh, Isak is great! He looks like a schemer. I am not completely sold on his face sculpt so I want to see him without the hat and from more angles. That outfit is still too good though.

@Quiet and Insane Thank you! I keep staring at him. He's in a bit of an awkward situation right now. He wore a dress shirt, tie, chest harness, and boots without any issues. But no pants will fit! His legs are way too long.

 

@Quiet and Insane I really need to work on sewing men's clothes so I can help fix that issue and make a wardrobe for Orpheus!

@Quiet and Insane Haha, I know what you mean! I feel like shoes would be hard to make but it would be such a useful skill since you could make the perfect shoes.

Seems I missed out on a lot ahaha I’m super excited myself for his hubby. :3 I’m gonna start uploading all his photos before his birthday cause I already have Wei Wuxian a birthday photoshoot ready and waiting to be posted xD ahahah I been dying to upload them.

 

Isak is stunning. I love his smirk and his hooded eyes, and that long black hair with chunky side bangs and the white military outfit. But I'm not sure if I love him enough to want to brave the long waiting time for his production.

The new Ksitigarbha they just teased on their twitter about an hour ago though... I'm a sucker for Buddhist-themed dolls, so I'm hoping for the full reveal soon! I can already see his halo, staff, and jewel in the teaser photos, and I'm really hoping the sculpt quality for the head will match.

@UtaOPrinceSama we're actually the same lol. Enticed to actually buy a BJD because of Wei Wuxian. Though I've been more or less been interested in BJDs since Volks came out with their Four Sisters, I never thought I'd actually buy one, since I used to be content just looking at people's galleries on Photobucket and Flickr and reading their doll profiles on Livejournal. Didn't even join DOA because I thought it would be awkward since I didn't own any dolls of my own.

 

has anyone had rd do a faceup on a head?
not with a full doll. just on its own? I love beautiful kisitigarbha. don't want another big boy anytime soon.

 

@petiteballerine in the blank head section, when you select a head, you can choose to order it with a faceup

Their faceups on some of their dolls look nice, like the Ashford @bickazer received a little while ago, it looks perfect and exactly like the promo pictures

Hopefully they will sell the head of Ksitgarbha alone, because I really love the fullset outfit / armor / accessories but have no room or the $$$ for another doll lol

Im still waiting on any news on the Vampire Hunter D doll they posted a teaser of ages ago, I love his exaggerated features and am excited and hope they will replicate the art style of Yoshitaka Amano's Vampire Hunter D illustrations

 

Has anyone here heard of any Lan Wangjis being shipped yet? I didn’t manage to preorder one... and I’m debating on when to start posting want to buy adds online for him.

 

Haven't heard of any shipping yet, but Ringdoll said they should start this month. Who knows if they actually will though.

A video of Lan Wangji being faceuped. It was posted on the 30th of September, I think. So Ringdoll at least starded working on them.

 

I've noticed that it's become a bit more difficult to communicate with Ringdoll after the website update. Has anyone else been experiencing issues and if so, were you able to get in touch with them in the end? I'm a bit concerned about one of my orders since I haven't had any updates in a while. > <

 

Ringdoll responded only to my Facebook message. They also had a lot of events recently, more than average that is, so they might be backed too. Try writting to their Facebook.

 

I've been hearing back from Cherry (through the service email) within 24-48 hours over the last week. She did comment that they are pretty busy in her last email this morning, but she's been pretty fast for me. It definitely doesn't hurt to try and reach out to other platforms if you aren't hearing back though. I hope they get back to you soon.

Will it be a problem if I purchase a wig that is just 1cm-2.5cm bigger than the girth of the head? I found a wig I absolutely would love to put on my doll but it's just a little too big and it looks like they don't sell in any other size. How easy would it be to resize? And would it look weird on the doll if I didn't resize it?

 

@Denovo I guess it depends on the hairstyle? If its a long wig, specially if its a crimped or curly one, it would be so easy! I pinch the excess wig cap, and sew it together very tightly, I cut the excess and use that fabric fray glue so it wont unravel, but I dont think that is necessary. Ive never tried it on hard wig caps however, I dont think it would work.

You can also use one of those silicone wig caps to add grip and volume. Ive successfully used one of those rubber wristbands instead as a wig cap since I ran out of velcro (I prefer it over silicone wig caps), and it made the wig tighter on the head

@Denovo I finally found the video I got the technique from, its different than what I did, but I think its more effecient + I think having a visual is so much easier to understand than writing. Ive learned so much and am so thankful for the BJD youtube community

Its amazing how many times you replicated the faceup so well. My favorite expression is that one with the teeth showing, Ive never seen it on a doll before lol! Im trying to guess the two extra expressions that you are thinking of, I think one with a shocked face would be unique lol, a new doll arrival? shock. Rerelease? shock idk .....!

 

Wow, I just saw Ksitigarbha. He's gorgeous! Love his whole fullset, though I'm hesitant to jump because Ringdoll has been so slow lately. But my god is it beautiful.

 

@Chikku - fingers crossed that Ksitigarbha won't take forever. I fell in love at the first teaser. Wheatskin full set, both heads. (painted.) 6 month layaway. I think he'll be worth the wait.

Does anyone know if any of the Iplehouse girls are proportional to the Ringdoll Grown? I think the height seems fine on paper, but that’s really different IRL because of aesthetics.

If not, what companies work well as lady companions to the Grown guys?

2020 seems to be the year of my moving back to big dolls. Hopefully I enjoy working with them. I've been doing the fashion sizes (both Iplehouse and Dollshe) but I really want a couple of big ones, so I'm starting with Dollshe Amanda, and I'm looking into Ringdoll for a friend for her.

I took Ash apart and put him back together (aka spa day) I gave him silicone pads in both hips and his neck, it made the world of difference getting him to hold a neck pose plus he doesn't fall over at his hips (much better than hot glue) - Yay!
