Resinsoul and Bobobie Mini Discussion Thread - Part 32

It's been an age since I've been in here, but my little Henrietta (seven years old now, gosh) got a new wig/eyes/shoes today. As I was checking to see if she could still stand in them, she fell into the most offended, scandalized looking pose I've ever seen, and I had to share! Excuse the messy background and unstyled wig; I'd just put it on her and haven't quite fiddled with it yet.

Also, I actually wouldn't mind my lilac girl greying because her character is a ghost so it would add to that. She's about a year old now and still extremely purple. How old is yours?

 

Oh gee I have no clue..lol..at least 3-4yrs maybe..it was when they changed their purple, though when I got him he wasn't as purple as a few others received so he may have still been the old purple.

 

Hi all, just a mild bump from me. Gotta say, getting in to this hobby, Resinsoul indeed have great customer service. Ordered Mei two days ago with no hassles, then the day after noticed Rong was basically a double jointed version. Shot Sun an email asking if I could switch the body to Rong's and stick with Mei's head and it wasn't a problem at all.

Paid the difference and bam, order updated. Very impressed. Now I just need to wait over a month for her.

 

Congratulations on your new doll order @Geckilian, I hope you'll love her when she arrives. I really like the double jointed Rong body my Rong, Mei, Yao and Qing all have that body I liked it that much! And the boys have the double jointed boy one.

Resinsoul's customer service really is excellent, Sun is so helpful when you email him with requests for changing heads, bodies, horns etc. I just got my new dolls yesterday (posted in 1/6 thread) after an 8 week wait, 7 weeks to dispatch 1 week post and customs delay. I was told it would be about a month but I guessed they were busy so decided not to worry until it got to the 2 month mark then I was going to email and ask how my order was coming along.

 

Cheers! I can be impatient with online ordering at the best of times, a two month wait would cause me to either get antsy, or forget about it! Though, I've seen some companies with wait times going over a year, which seems remarkable to me...

That's great, congrats! Their blue seems really pretty in pictures, and Ju is a neat sculpt.

oh wow! She is so beautiful! I noticed that with Resinsoul when looking at owner pictures. They can look completely different, not one looks same. I love that.

Ooo! I think a new doll popped up today! Zhen! I was shopping earlier this morning and when I came back just now I noticed her. A 45cm female dragon with wings and parts like Sui, but with deer ears. She's so cute! And Resinsoul did an amazing job with her resin and blushing! She's on the 45cm doll listing.

 

Oooooh, I love her! Unfortunately she won't work for the dragon girl I'm trying to shell, looks like I'll still have to mod a Sui body.

I'm freaking out over Zhen. She's so beautiful, I love her ears and her wings. Everything about her is just beautiful. Oh goodness I have a mighty need!

 

Does Zhen's body (aside from the obvious fantasy parts) seem different?
The torso pieces and arm joints look similar to the Mi body. I wonder if they're releasing a new 1/4 girl body! I'm hyped!

 

I've fallen for Zhen, she's just so sweet, and a dragon! I was hoping resinsoul would release a lady version of sui. No idea what color I want to get her in, but she won't be in the budget until next year so I have time to figure it out

@Cease it looks different to me too! The arm joints are peanuts instead of caps and the torso sculpting and joint is different it seems! Looks really pretty♡

 

I definitely want her, but I gotta have a character for her too before I even THINK about it. She'd be so perfect for a dragon fae type of creature though...

 

I just saw the new dragon girl and she's prettier than I expected! Not to be rude towards Resinsoul, but most of their female sculpts aren't that pretty (in my opinion). This new girl, however, is gorgeous. I kind of just want her head and am wondering if she'd fit the Rong body. Seems she's a couple cm taller than Rong.

 

@Nyxy I kept double checking to make sure she wasnt mistakenly labeled as 45cm instead of Mi's height lol

I'm just equally excited to see new, potentially more posable, bodies! I'd love to see how Zhen poses once someone has her

 

Apparently she can use Sui's clawed hands so I think she is also using his dragon parts like the legs. They probably sculpted a new girl body to match his parts. Also if anyone wants jointed hands for her she'll need the #4 ones, the #3msd hands probably won't fit her wrists.

 

Zhen is certainly lovely. I'm starting my layaway for her soon! I'm super happy with the idea of having two resinsoul girls

Nope I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth..lol. Been busy with other life stuff but I'm back with some awesome photos of the new Zhen dragon girl!
Thought I'd copy these comparisons over as I'm sure not everyone may be on the Resinsoul Love FB group. Here are a few photo comparison's that I got directly from Resinsoul. Zhen is slightly taller than Sui, I believe this has to do with how angled Sui's legs are at the knee joint, whereas Zhen's seems to be more straight lined like Yao's legs. RS did state they will have a human body version with the new double jointed arms and legs not sure on when they didn't answer that but did say that they are not working on a new boy double jointed body at this time.


Zhen's torso is definitely much longer (similar to their new 60cm body Mi/Etc) as well as her arms. I'm going to assume that when they make the new double jointed legs she will be taller than Rong body. RS said that the new double jointed arms will fit on the Rong/etc body, I'd say they would be quite long on the Mei body though. So I'd also assume that you could probably get the Rong arms/legs on the Zhen torso if you didn't like the longer limbs. I love that they have 3 different body torso options now because variety is awesome..gets boring when you all your dolls are the same size..lol. From the measurements on their site the bust/waist/hip is about .5cm bigger, neck size same as Rong. Her breasts to me seem smaller than Rong so I'm assuming that the rest of the bust/back part is slightly bigger as it does say their is also a .5cm increase on the back width. I'm going to take this photo and add all the measurements on it so it's easier to see side by side.

Zhen has so much height compared to Mei! Now I'm really pumped to get her.

Thanks I want to get a new body for him eventually. his current body is heavily modded, and as kool as it is, it makes dressing him a lil difficult :<

As far as I was told by Resinsoul they won't be making a new double jointed boy body for quite a while (again that is what I was told). That could me months or years, after all they did just finally release the dragon girl..lol. They are working on the human legs for the new double jointed girl though, I would assume they might be doing a different head for the human body version like they did with Sui & Tang...no clue...waiting anxiously.

I do hope they release they human Zheng body, though. Depending on how good it is I might have to order a replacement for my Rong body.

 

they will release human Zhen just not sure when they didn't answer me when I asked and I'm sure they will have a new head too, so I'm excited to see what it will look like I've got more characters and would love them to be RS dolls, that is I'm assuming they will make a new head since they did with Tang and Sui.

Can anyone tell me the best eye size for RS Jian and Mei? I know the site says 14mm, but another collector told me 12mm might be ok too? And I cannot find anything on the eye size for Jian and I need to get him some brown eyes before he arrives.

 

Resinsoul's dolls have huge, flat eye wells that take a bigger diameter much better than a small one. The Jian I painted fit 16 or 18mm with the least gaps. I would look for 16mm small iris eyes.

 

Oh wow, thankyou! I literally just ordered 14mm eyes for him. Oh well...I'll have to now go and buy a doll that will take the 14mm eyes. That seems the most practical option.

 

@svc16 It's been a while since I got a RS doll but I could have sworn they were sent with 14mm eyes? It might depend on the eyes, and the head sculpt.
Edit: Ok just checked my Ming he still has the company eyes and they are 14mm, I don't see any major gaps. I do think most of mine have 16mm though..depends on your preference I think.

 

It might variate from mold to mold, but I remember the old ones I had all came with 14mm.
I actually have 12mm eyes in my Song and Yao right now (they came with 14mm as well, but I had other plans XD)

The 12mm eyes fit rather well, but there is a tiny little gap in the upper corners of the eyes if you look close.
So it comes down to preference as well as the maker of the eyes. I don't mind these small gaps if I can have the eyes in this iris size rather than bigger sized ones :3
Personally I'd recommend getting 14mm with small irises, if you do mind the gaps, but want a semi-realistic iris-size or go for 14mm if you like the eye size they are shown with on the official webpage's pictures.

 

The Jian (which is the same as Song without the elf ears, to be clear) came with smaller acrylics - I think 16mm? - but my Seng (Ming) from DDE came with HUGE eyes in, as did the Tang head I had. Here's a picture of them with 14mm small iris eyes before I did the eye mods. I like to position eyes with a lot of white/sclera showing, so the gaps are a bit much for me.

 

My Ming and Li both came with and wear 14mm eyes.
My li has more issues with gaps than my Ming, though l:

 

@Glace Leau Any chance those might have been 'high dome' eyes? I do have Luts eyes (I think) that are more uhh... round? deep?, than the acrylics that came with the dolls directly from Resinsoul.
They are 'flatter' (from the side) for a lack of being able to describe it better. Still properly round from the front, but from the side they aren't as round as half a ball would be.
Those might be the main problem, of not getting them to fit into the eyes properly.
My Luts' dolls also have deeper 'eye holes' on the inside of their heads.
Just a thought.

That said, I like the way you styled your boy so far. That bright yellow looks surprisingly good
(and I love that tiny braid -^3^-)

 

@Snowy No, they're resin eyes with very flat domes/arcs actually. The 14mm acrylics I had were worse than these. The appearance of the gaps is probably exacerbated by the lack of faceup and dark eye putty (kneaded eraser) though - with white scleras, white poster tac or silicone ear plugs, and some shading around the eyes, it probably wouldn't look as obvious.

Yes, eyes with flatter arcs will work better for sure. The problem is that Resinsoul makes such shallow, flat eye wells. The smaller the diameter of the eye, the naturally higher the arc, so bigger eyes seem to fit better. Paperweight type eyes would probably work well too, but I like scleras too much to use an eye that has to look straight forward.

Eh, I guess their eye sizes (of the mold) and the eye sizes of the eyes they add variate a lot as well.
I don't have that one pic anymore, but I once had 4 different types of 14mm eyes. One was likely mislabled and 16mm one, but the other three... so different from each other ^^°°°

My boy has himself a new sweater (... I just realized, all of his funky sweaters have had deer on them. Unintentional I swear. XD) it's a wine bottle cover from Aldi, fits him great. Had to take his wig off to fit it over his ears but it looks great.

 

lol...I have a few wine bottle sweaters myself just bought one a few weekends ago. I'll have to dig up that photo somewhere I know I did a photo story of it because my husband bought them for me for christmas and put a few of my dolls names on the box..lol.

Hi I'm hoping to find out what size Mei the 42cm resin soul girl wears I just ordered her (my first BJD) and don't want to buy clothes until I'm certain. I'm also hoping to restring her once she arrives, can anyone tell me what size stringing she has to begin with? Thanks in advance for any answers .

 

there should be a link on the first post of this discussion that gives some info regard what fits. Typically you'll have to search for slim MSD items, I usually make my own so I'm no help. I haven't bought a brand new resinsoul doll in a while so not sure if they are still using the same elastic but it's pretty thin elastic. I've restrung some of mine with I believe 4mm (or 5mm have to go check) shock cord. Hot glue sueding can help as well for poseability.

Edit: never mind there is a reference in page one for shoes but not clothes..sorry.

 

I just sent you a PM. I just got my Mei and am more than happy to answer any questions about her.
It's fine if you don't answer the PM too. My Mei wears slim MSD clothing - if I look for patterns for her, I always look for slim MSD.
Her shoes need to be, ideally, around 5.5-6cm in length but I find that length difficult to find sometimes. I nwhat I want anyway.

When I look at clothes, I prefer to find clothes with measurements listed, but often it just takes a small dart or a stitch here or there to alter an outfit.

 

@gracemary13 Aside from pants, mine primarily wears Minifee clothes!

 

Looks like there's a new 45cm human girl! Her name is Shi, just noticed her today.

 

I need help please. I am looking for the human head version of Mei and Rong and can't remember their sculpt names.

 

@Glace Leau I've admired your Seng from afar before, but I had to come here and say it! That greyish resin is beautiful with those eyes.

@Nightshade Human Meis are called Ya. I don't think there's a human Rong yet but their new MSD girl looks like a potential Rong with human ears. (Rong looks like a BB Sophia to me)
