@Ru-chan I JUST got a shipping notice for my ResinSoul Song (Who I think has the normal 44cm RS boy body) and my brother has a Sui, when he shows up I'll try the hands on my boy and get you some photos if no one answers you before before then!

So excited! My Song was a custom blue with Jun's fin ears so I can't wait to see how he turns out, crossing my fingers because I really hope the blue isn't greyish like their sky blue!

 

@Ru-chan Song is adorable and in person, I love him even more, esspecially with Jun's fin ears! I tried Sui's hand on him, the ball joint it too big to sit in properly so it can't pose up or down or left or right. It COULD work if you sanded the joint down though I think!

Also, I am so impressed by ResinSoul's color matching. I sent them a photo of my brother's doll (Sui) in their skyblue next to this toy duck head which was the color I wanted and the match is like 99.9% perfect, it's nuts. (I might be a bit extra lucky because this blue in particular might just be a dye color and not one they really need to mix.)

I know the Rong hands fit the Wu male body as I requested this and the hands look fine. I just saw a picture of the different msd hands with labels and picked Rong’s as I wanted something different than Wu’s hands.

 

Hello, sorry if this question has been asked in a previous thread, but I'm thinking of buying a Resinsoul as my first doll and I've heard they're willing to modify dolls on request. Specifically, I'm curious about changing the stock ears - I really like Resinsoul Ju's sculpt, but I'm on the fence about the size of her elf ears. Does anyone have pictures of her with smaller/human ears? Thanks!

PLEASE HELP!
Anyone with a Fairyland Minifee. Could you please try the ankle joint along with the foot on a Resinsoul doll prefer a male doll. Please & thank you. I got Wataru some Minifee shoes but the Resinsoul high heel feet are too big so I want to know id the Minifee feet are a good fit.

@gaiboiozz I think the Minifee ankle ball is too big and round for the boy body.

Take a look at some pics here. They’re not quite the comparisons you’re looking for, but maybe it might help until someone is able to put that ankle joint on there for you.

Hey guys! I figured you all would be the best place to ask! I'm hoping to get a Mei doll relatively soon, but I'd like a double jointed body, though it doesn't seem that her original body is. Does anyone know if any of Resinsoul's other bodies would fit Mei (and keep her at the normal size) that are double jointed? Thank you!

 

I'm pretty sure the Rong body is the double-jointed version.

 

It is, there's a 2 cm difference in neck size. I have both, I could check how the difference is visually and post pics sometime early next week if nobody else can @TheLostPrincess

Is the difference very noticeable when ordering clothes? Sorry for so many questions, I'm still such a noob! I've been looking on etsy and other shops for 1/4 MSD size clothing, would the neck size be something I should factor in? Thank you guys so much for helping me out!! I really appreciate all the help, it just makes me want my doll sooner!

 

@TheLostPrincess the neck size isn't really something to worry about with clothes, just with how the head fits on the body. There likely will be some gapping with a difference like that, though.

How are you thinking of styling your Mei? (And if this helps you with your search at all, my Mei wears a lot of Minifee clothes designed for both the boy and girl bodies)

 

Will that factor in to how she holds her head poses? Or do you not notice much of a difference?

I was hoping to just get the Resinsoul faceup (since I don't trust myself just yet!) but I'd like for her to be as "universal" as possible i.e. Lolita one day, casual next, vampy/gothic, and the one I'm having the most trouble finding clothes for is fairy/pixie looks. I've found some incredible ones, but I can't really afford to invest in any at the moment. I'll probably make a few of my own outfits, as well (:

 

It could, I haven't tried my Mei on my Rong's body yet and I'll let you know! I'm a college student and I took my MSDs home and left them during Thanksgiving, I've just got my tiny with me. I'm headed home Monday, I'll check then.

And fantasy clothes can be super hard to find! I know that's been a struggle for a lot of people. From what I've seen, most people seem to have better luck amassing clothes that aren't necessarily fantasy clothes but look fantasy-esque when styled together than buying outright fantasy clothes

Thank you so much! That's far too kind! ♡ Actually, since you've got a mini with you I'd love to ask your opinion on this too! I'm in love with Mei, but also Pukifee (wrong thread ahhh) Pongpong! Eventually I'll probably get both, but personally which do you think would be better or more fun as a first doll? They'd both be used for similar purposes (though Pongpong would be a little pixie/space alien/monster baby cutie! But I'd love to make them wigs and take pictures and clothes (even if that would be a little more tricky with Pongpong). Sorry, I'm rambling! Just excited

 

I think what the ideal size is for your first doll depends on you, but I think if you're wanting to make wigs and clothes it could be easier to start with a larger doll. Sewing for tinies can be a wicked struggle if you're not used to that small of a scale, and there's a lot less room for error as you learn. I adore my tiny, and I'm planning on getting more in the size, but sewing for her's been frustrating. I also find machine sewing much much easier for my MSDs. And no worries about rambling, feel free to PM me if you want to ramble more about non-RS MSD stuff

I'm actually gonna order my Jian after Christmas because of it. I already got the price appraisal from Sun I just need the cash.XD; So glad I'm not gonna have to pay for the hands right off the bat. If I like them on Jian enough I might have Sun resin match Avalon for me for a second pair later on.

 

Oh, good! That's so exciting! I know, I had considered getting the hands after I've had my Mei for a while, but this promo pushed me to not only get my doll sooner, but I get the hands, as well! Yay! RS is amazing, though! Great deals and great customer service; I'm already planning out my next two dolls with them!

Hello all! I plan on ordering a RS Sui head on the Tang body, but I'm not sure whether to get Tan or Dark Tan. If anyone has any pictures of their Tan or Dark Tan colors, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you, and happy holidays!

 

A couple of years ago (almost 6 years) I bought my nephew a Resinsoul Seng. He was so excited & very happy to get him. My nephew is now 16 & the Seng has been at my house for almost over a year. I talked to him today & asked him if I should sell the doll? He said no. I asked him if he wanted me to brig it to him? He said no. I asked him if he wanted me to keep it? He said yes. I told him if I am keeping it I am changing everything about him. He said no. So yea, this is Amthony. Lol, sorry I had to share this story

 

Sounds like he feels he's "too old" for a doll but likes the idea that it's there in its original state if/when he wants him back.

I remember feeling too old for playing with dolls, and then a few years later I started "collecting".

 

Yeah I went through that "too old for dolls" phase too. Then I discovered BJD's. XD

I'll learn how to post a picture soon but I wanted to point to my user icon at my first and only BJD, a ResinSoul Mei, named Mellie.

Anyone else have trouble with the "new" body being incredibly kicky? Like, kicking legs and elbows so much that she's knocking her joints out of place? I can't stand her up for more than 5 minutes and she is constantly springing into the fetal position. She came this way, I already restrung with the same cord to make sure it wasn't tangled and such, but I'm wondering if it's the body, if the cord is too short, if I should "felt" her with hot glue, etc...

 

I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of a Resinsoul Wu and a Resinsoul Mai together as a comparison? I'm trying to find a proper head for one of my dolls' boyfriends bc the head I originally bought for him with is much smaller than the Wu.

 

@truecolours412 yes, my double jointed Wu body is having issues with the knees twisting out of socket when I have him sitting. Especially the left knee, it twists way out and is hard to get it to stay correctly positioned. I’m thinking your doll might be strung too tight, or maybe it needs re stringing. I’ve read that re stringing with better elastic does wonders for RS dolls. I’m going to do that with mine, and hopefully it fixes the knee issue.

 

Replacing the flimsy RS elastic helps a ton on the bigger dolls.

I was gonna go with a Jian on the double jointed body but I saw pics showing it'd be taller then the single jointed body - can't have Avalon's twin be taller then him. So my boy is coming on the single jointed.

 

What size elastic would you guys recommend for restringing a Rong body? I haven't received mine in the mail just yet, but I have a feeling sometime down the line I'd like to re-string her, as I hear things about how RS strings them?

 

Thank you @kurogane and @Arashi Uchiha I think I will try getting some proper cord for restringing then. I saw there were some guides for types of cord in the Workshop section so I'll get to it soon hopefully.

 

Wish you luck. If you don't wanna worry about sizes and want to just get to work, Junkyspot sells restringing kits. The string I bought from there has lasted Avalon since 2013.

 

Thanks for the tip @Arashi Uchiha. I like their mols and affordability so if the restringing goes well I will be more confident in buying from them again. I like the Ju face for another OC.

 

All of their dolls are just gorgeous. I don't think there's a sculpt of theirs that I don't like. (It's just a pity some RS company photo's just don't look that good. They don't do their dolls justice)

 

On the other hand, I find the bad photographs to be inspirational in a way, too. Because they look so bad, it's easy to think you can make them look SO much better. With a Soom (for instance) full set I always have the feeling that I can't improve on the full set so it's no use buying the nude doll...

There are at least a dozen RS dolls I'd really like to play around with...

Restringing makes so much difference. My Wu was restrung by the seller I bought him from (Think Pink) and he poses really well. My Iruhi on a Wu body flops all over the place.
