Yeah I'm not sure about that either but I'm not going to email them about it until I can pay for him. I just want double jointed but not so muscly. Otherwise there's the satyr body I can probably ask to get with human double jointed legs so there's options!

 

the wu double jointed limbs fit the single jointed body, but the muscular ones from Tang are a lot fatter.

Your transparent Lu is absolutely gorgeous!! Every time I see the transparent resin it just makes me because it's such a unique customization choice.

Finally got around to giving my Twilight, Asche, a face-up and clothes after having her for nearly a year! (Cruddy photo quality, sorry )

I like how she looks next to my little Resinsoul deertaur. That transparent purple resin almost seems to glow in the right lighting.

I also will not lie - I am very tired right now - and I also went "Oh! That cat almost looks real!" and it took me a hot minute to realize. Cat is very very cute as well, I love black cats!

 

Has anyone gotten a Ming with human legs? I like his ears and was thinking of getting a light tan version of him for an elf-ish character of mine but said character has human legs, haha. Also been eyeing a dark tan Rong... too many dolls on the wishlist!

I just saw Dawn for the first time and I really like her. I think I'd like to add a unicorn horn on her forehead.

 

Can anyone here tell me whether the Rong body is the same as the mature body offered as an option for Resinsoul dolls?

And is the only difference between the mature body and the immature body the chest or are there other differences?

I've checked on Resinsoul's site and Bobobie's, but the pics aren't the best and often descriptions and info are lacking.

 

What do you mean by mature? Scale?

 

At Resinsoul and DDE, they literally give you the option of a mature or immature body with no pics of the bodies. They do include measurements sometimes. but that doesn't tell everything; the mature body has a bigger bustline, but they could have other differences.

And in an email from Resinsoul, they told me I could choose a mature or immature body for a particular head.

 

Oh, interesting. I have only ordered from RS directly, because I'm in Europe and their own site doesn't mention these terms. I would also like to know more about that!

 

On the listing for Espree on the Bobobie website, it says "Espree's face is same as Sprite, but she has human ears. You can order her in the mature body or immature body." but lower on the page it explains: "You can also choose the immature body. The price is the same. The only difference is the chest part. The mature body chest circumference is 17cm."

That's useful, but then what's the difference between these and the Rong body?

 

If I remember correctly, the immature body is the one Mei is on, and the mature body is the one Rong is on

 

Sprite and Espree are Bobobie girls, not ResinSoul; I don't think the bodies are the same between the companies.

 

If your looking at Espree then that is a Bobobie body and it is just the chest that is different, the rest of the body is the same. Denver doll use to have a photo of the two bodies on the listings but it looks like they don't anymore. I unfortunately no longer have my mature bust Bobobie to do a comparison. If your ordering a Resinsoul doll there are multiple doll bodies. But yea the only one that has an option for mature or immature on Denverdoll is the Bobobie dolls.

Is the Rong body always cup jointed?

 

Omg I'm not active in the hobby anymore but I just popped on to see if this thread was still going and it's so nice to see some of the same people and the same dolls I remember from many years ago ; ; hope you've been well, glad to see you're still around!

 

yes that is her default body so she'll come with the joints that have a half peanut on the top and a cup on the bottom of the elbow and knee joint. You can request different arms and legs for the double joints (that are on shi/xun) however the socket on the legs is bigger on the Rong body vs Shi/Xun body. For example my one blue dragon girl I got the Rong upper body with double jointed arms and Zhen dragon legs..you can tell the socket in the leg is a tad big but she'll be wearing clothes so it doesn't bother me.

 

Okay, so I definitely don't need to be coming up with more ideas when I have so many in progress right now, but I can't help being curious... has anyone gotten a doll from ResinSoul with pearlescent or shimmery resin?

 

they don't offer that kind of resin, I've asked..lol

Hey everyone! Been a while since I posted here. I've got Lilith, my cute little Mei here with some WIP mods!


I'm excited to finish and paint her! But she needs a new body first, this one is just.... not cutting it. All her legs want to do is curl up, and her torso is floppy as all hell! I've been trying to find one secondhand but I just have the worst luck! I'm sure I'll find something eventually, but I'm going to complain until I do lmao!
I'm not even sure what sort of body I want for her exactly, so I guess it's a good thing really. Does anyone know of any good Mei hybrids? I know they look good on Minifee bodies, but the hips to waist ratio is a little much for this girl. That said, maybe the moe boy would work? I previously considered Dream Valley's girl body but I feel like the shoulders might be a little small, especially with these big bat ears!

 

She's super cute, @hellFlower! As for her body issues, it sounds like she needs a restringing (which is pretty common for these guys). If you get marine shock cord, it has more tension than regular doll elastic (which has more tension than crafting/sewing elastic), and a tight stringing with that really does wonders with RS and BBB bodies. Enough that, when I swapped out my boy's body for aesthetic reasons, I kept the body and will hopefully soon be ordering a new head for it.

 

@hellFlower Yep, most of the dolls from RS do need new, thicker, tougher elastic. That's usually enough to get them to behave. They ship them that way to avoid breaks, I think. Your mod is really cool! I've not seen one like it! Congrats on your project, I love seeing all the different ways we all enjoy our dolls!

 

@vicemage @mollym Thanks you two! I've restrung her a few times at this point, I think she's got 4mm elastic in her right now? Her arms are working fine, but the rest of her is being difficult. I imagine a good sueding and wiring would do her wonders, but it's not something I want to have to do just so the body can do basic things like sitting and standing, you know? The marine shock cord is interesting though! I've already decided that I'll definitely get her a new body but I'll probably come back to this one at some point, so I'll have to remember that for the future!
I might've found a body actually, I asked for a DHL shipping quote and I'm really hoping it's in budget! DHL's website gives me a real high price, but it's also telling me that I should've paid 5 times the shipping for something I got last month, so not too sure if I can trust it lol.

Also credit where credit's due - I didn't mod her nose, that was done by her previous owner! Not sure if they want to be mentioned, so I'll leave out their name. You might be able to see that I've tried to avoid touching that mod with mine lol. It's this particular doll that made me really love the Mei sculpt, so it's still super cool that I own her even though I bought her 2 years ago.

 

4mm elastic is about right for arms, but you want at least 4.5 for her legs.
Most of the dolls I own (including those by ResinSoul) don't especially have extra room in their joints for sueding, and I hate, Hate, HATE wiring. Yes, it's a way of getting a doll to "stand like a rock" but their poses will never look natural and wire tends to break if its bent frequently and then you get to dig sharp broken wire bits out. Make sure your tetanus booster is up to date

 

I would double check the joints that there is no extra flashing in the way that might prohibit good movement. If there's room in the channels for wire, then the elastic may be too thin and weak. There's other things you could try..... and that is completely up to you. If you did use some sueding, I'd make sure it was as thin as humanly possible in the joint surfaces. Personally, I've found RS's joint movement to have come a long way in the past few years. If she's a much older doll, that may explain some reasons that the joints are awkward.

Could anyone tell me what the process is for ordering a resinsoul doll with mix and match parts? I've seen people on here day that that's a thing you can do. For example, I'm looking into getting a mei head with faceup on a 43cm boy body with jointed hands. Also, would the head come with eyes if i order the faceup? I'm new to this hobby, and am very confused by the resinsoul website as there arent any clear descriptions or instructions, so I really could use some help navigating.Thanks!

 

I always just sent an email to them with a clear list. They tend to refer to the bodies by which sculpt they predominantly use or using "single jointed, double jointed" so for the boys it's usually "single joint, double joint, tang and sui" are the boy bodies.

So for example i've got a yao head on a tang body with sui hands and literally just wrote that on my email request.
I also have a rong on a yao body with ming horns, an An on sui body without wings or tail with an extra set of arms and Jun in a custom colour ( I sent a pantone swatch with my email) with transparent blue lower limbs.

sometimes if it's overly complicated a picture mockup can help. with my 4 armed doll I sent a quick mockup I did in photoshop to make sure it was clear what I meant.

But I find that being as clear as possible and writing it like a list seems to help any language barriers.

my list for my complicated 4 armed boy for example was:

An head in green
Sui body in green (no wings or tail)
4 arm mod.
dragon legs in tan from knee down

Resinsoul dolls always come with a cheap set of half round acrylic eyes, though i'm not sure they'll let you pick the colour. You could always ask.

They tend to ship with the hands detatched to protect them and they definitely are happy to offer jointed hands, usually what'll happen is you'll get the non jointed ones as well as the jointed hands are considered an "additional" thing. But both will be detatched from the doll anyway.

Resinsoul will also do custom faceups apparently, though with those I think you'd need some picture references. I've never asked but I do know some people have and been quite pleased with the result. The newer rs faceups are fairly nice, they've really upped their skill recently and their website doesn't really demonstrate that.

 

@gaymergoose I second sending an e-mail. When I ordered a cervitaur, I had the human part one color, and the animal part another. I simply sent and e-mail explaining what I wanted and they sent me a total. I would suggest to include your PayPal e-mail address along with shipping address so you can get a calculation for shipping and all of the part/color prices as a total to expedite your order. I've not ordered in well over a year, perhaps 2, but one thing to note is that I never got a shipping notice, the doll simply showed up one day. I've ordered 3 and all were like this.

 

i just emailed sun what i wanted - the custom ears, in my case - and he said they'd do it. they didn't send an invoice, but they did ask me to pay via paypal after they got all the specs from me - skin color, etc.

Does anyone have any pictures of transparent resin to show off? I'd like to shell my ghost boy as a Song, with transparent lower arms and legs, and I wanted to know what the elastic looks like through the resin. (I've seen a picture somewhere before that made the elastic kind of look like the bones in the arms, which was kinda what I'd like to go for.)

 

These limbs are clear "white" with a gradient blushed on in pastel.

The transparent other colours are more jewel-like and harder to see the elastic through.

 

@purple_monkfish Oh, wow, that looks amazing! I'll probably end up going for the clear if it's the easiest to see through.

 

I'm trying to find a picture of the blue, I have transparent blue and purple here but the purple is a set of wings so no elastic.

I'm curious if a Resinsoul head like Mei thats made for the 42cm body could potentially work on their 27cm body, would the proportions be too wack or could it look good? I have no concept of how big things are so if anyone has pictures of such a hybrid or just a 27cm body next to any MSD head I'd love to see it. Also, does anyone have any recommendatios for MSD/YoSD bodies from other brands that have a close enough resin match for Resinsoul's light tan/coffee? I ask all this because I have an idea for a character I want shelled as a Mei head, but I'm not a fan of any of Resinsoul's MSD bodies so I'm looking for other body options in the 27cm-40cm range. I like the idea of a 1/6 body, but if the Mei head is too bigfor it I'll go for closer to 1/4

 

I can't help a lot with the proportions, since my son's RS dolls are with him, but it would look really big and bobble-headed to put a 1/4 head on most 27cm bodies.
My advice is to get a body you think will fit the head well, then have RS make the head to match the body. Not many other companies do resin matching besides RS and Miro-doll in this price range, there may be other companies, but I am unaware.

 

@gaymergoose This is an old picture, and I don't have access to these two since they were a commission from years ago, but this might help you get an idea of the size difference between the Mei head and one for the 27cm body? (the small head is Bei)

There are a couple of Mei in the house, though, and I could see about popping one on a Yo size body? Sadly don't have any with the same thin/willowy look as Resinsoul's 27cm, but can try and get a pic if you'd like. ^^

 

That's good to know, I'm new to this and like I said I'm terrible at picturing how big or small something is in relation to other things based on measurements lol. I'll probably have to stick to a 1/4 body, so now I just have to find a body I like for Mei's head that comes in a tan close enough to not look too obvious, or worst case I'll have to see if I can get the head resin-matched, I REALLY want this doll to not be pale as a ghost at least lol

Oh, that photo comparison was absolutely what I needed to understand the size defference, thank you! Now I can see that the Mei head would definitely be too big.

 

@gaymergoose You're welcome! Sizes are definitely tricky when you've never seen one in person. And sometimes still tricky when you have lol.
I also second mollym's suggestion of getting the Mei head to match if you find a body you really like, but it doesn't match the Resinsoul coffee/light tan. If you can match the body color to a paint sample, hex code, or Pantone color you can just send them that info (instead of a body part) or even just send a picture of the body's color to them. ^^
Here's a Resinsoul/Bobobie hybrid picture request thread, could also ask there to see if anyone has Mei on a different body. And here's one asking about Resinsoul Tans, so could also try posting there to see if anyone has any comparisons of the light tan with different companies.

This info is just what I needed, thanks so much! Now to find a body I like that actually comes in any kind of tan, so many of the prettiest ones only come in white/"normal"

 

@gaymergoose Welcome! And I totally understand. More companies need tan ;; I have heard that Resinsoul coffee/light tan is similar to Dollshe Copper Oriental, so could also look into companies that match that? (though, I'm not sure if Dollshe's color has changed since I read that). You could also try making a thread in Visual Concepts about the type of body you want, especially if you're looking for a specific silhouette, to see if anyone might have any suggestions that would help. ^^

 

I believe someone at one point put a Ian head onto a yosd body but her and Lu have very very small heads for msd. I can't find a pic now but I believe it looked a bit odd, least to my eye. The head is small but it's also kinda tall so it was still a bit strangely bobbleheaded despite the head width being right.
Hard to explain.

If you're looking for a mature mini doll though, myou do some elf eared 27 cm dolls.

Do you already have the mei head? Which tan is she? Their "dark" or their coffee? There's a few near matches out there for their coffee shade but not so much for the dark tan which is a sort of ashy chocolate milk colour.

 

That's less of an issue that it seems at first glance. White/"normal" resin can be blushed, dyed, or even spraypainted to match a different color head. If you're not comfortable dying/painting a doll yourself, it wouldn't be too difficult to find a modder willing to help out/do it for you.
