Raccoon Doll Discussion - Part 4

Dec 13, 2017

    1. Hey guys, sorry to barge in here like that but I got a question.
For a project with two male characters I started looking into fashion sized minis, I have zero experience with smaller dolls though and had no luck finding an answer so far.

I just wanted to know if it's possible to put a male Iple FID head (Leonard specifically) onto the male Raccoon body?
I want a full FID for the other guy already and love the Iple faces, but I need some height difference between them. The normal skin is somewhat matching/easy to match and the overall measurements are close. Unfortunately Iples tend to have an odd neck shape which makes it difficult to hybrid them, and I worry if it's the case for their FID size as well. Raccoon's shoulders are also a bit slimmer.

Anybody can tell me how well such a hybrid would work? Thanks :D

Edit: someone in the FID thread has answered my question already, apparently it's a good fit!

    2. This isn't the best picture but here is my realskin Lawrence head on a sweet mocha Raccoon body and my Damien on an FID body. They work quite well.

    3. Thank you so much! Now just to get a single NS Leonard head/find a split buddy. I wish Iple would have finally gotten the memo and offer single heads for sale regularly :sorry

    4. Oooh, this gives me an idea for my gentle Tedros head who is never going to get a chance to use Bichun's model body. (I bought them together during an event)
what color Raccoon doll would work with glow special real? Do you think sweet mocha would work? I know there will be a bit of difference due to the glow, but it would be fun to have a tall Tedros.
@Patrice S - was it a straight swap, no fiddling or modding to put FID on Raccoon? thanks for the photo.

      :love

    5. It was a very simple swap on the heads. I don't have any glow realskin Iples just the regular resin so I can't tell you how well the resins would match.

    6. I do not own any Iple FID yet, but I have sweet mocha Rosie (the head is from 2018, body is from 2016), I can take a comparison picture of her with my Iple glow special real skin Bella from 2016 if you want (during the weekend when I am off work).
I bought JID hands in 2016 in standard Iple special real skin and they are pretty good match with sweet mocha.

    7. @boudica - that's very kind of you. no hurry, and yes I'd love to see the comparison. looks like the realskin is a close match.
not sure if the glow is that much different since I only have glow.
I like the Raccoon man body, and will try to resist buying a whole man rather than just the bod, or I'll end up with yet another floating head instead of solving the Tedros issue.
      gah! :sweat

thanks @Patrice S . very good to know.

    9. after seeing the beautiful sd-girls head (I know, it was not the first one)- do you think they work on a sd body?

    10. Clever to use that little pretzel as a big pretzel for your Bell.

    11. Flynn, my Branden, who came on Tuesday with my Daisy, Joscata.

    12. @Patrice S - Congrats! They look great together. He looks much better here than on Raccoon's sale page. Is that Milk Mocha or Sweet Mocha resin?

Here's my Lucy wearing one of Raccoon's dresses I bought recently.

Oops! Her necklace shifted when I repositioned her and I didn't notice until after I took the photos.

    14. Thanks! Flynn is sweet mocha. That dress looks great on your Lucy.

    15. Thanks! Frankly, Lucy looks great in everything. The other girls will have a hard time getting her out of the dress so they can try it on.

    16. @Patrice S Congrats, he looks very handsome. They make a lovely couple.
@vermont chick Perfect fit and a very bold pattern. I like how the golden strokes highlight the golden strands in her hair, perfect combination.
@xyuemoto Where did you get those tiny rings? I never noticed his jewelry before.

    17. @xyuemoto He's very handsome and has his plants thriving.

    18. Thanks @ResinRapture. The repeat of golden streaks never occurred to me when I put her together. All I could think was slim dress needs big hair.

    19. Here's a comparison shot of my Branden with Iple's Leonard and Lawrence.

    20. Beautiful! Are they a band ?

    21. I finally took the comparison pictures - sorry you had to wait for so long. It's taken with natural light and I must admit I was really surprised about the difference in color. I do not have time to play with my dolls lately, so they spent the whole time closed in their boxes,so discoloration due to UV light should be minimal. The glow special real skin looks more warm, there are red undertones while Raccoon's sweet mocha looks more flat. It may show differently on smaller doll, but the match won't be as good as with the standard Iplehouse special real skin I am afraid.

Wow, what a group of handsome guys :love. May I ask about the resin color of all of them?

    22. The Iples are non-glow realskin and Branden is sweet mocha.

And no, they are not in a band.

    23. @boudica - thank you! that saved me some disappointment. they really don't match.
and it reminded me why I like the glow resin so much. ;) back to the drawing board.

    24. @Patrice S - Ooh-la-la! I'll admit I ignored Branden when he first came out, mostly because of no money but also because the blond hair and dark beard put me off so much I didn't even scroll to the bottom of the sales page. Now that I see yours I will definitely reconsider if/when Raccoon re-releases him. I love how Raccoon has matured as a sculptor since he left Iplehouse. (For anyone new to the thread who doesn't know the background, Raccoon sculpted all three of those dolls, Lawrence and Leonard while he was with Iplehouse, Branden under his own brand.)

    25. Received my modern gene. I chose "milk mocha" as her skin tone option but she turned out to be darker than I expected. Based on her actual photo below, could her skin tone be "sweet mocha" instead?

    26. It's been like forever since I got my Nina and David, and forever since I've been here! Life...it's been a crazy year. Anyway I'm finally in the same location as they are with my supplies. So I did their faces. They look good, I think? But...I went overboard on the blushing. Their heads no longer match their bodies. Anyone else done that? Did you blush the body to match the face? Or strip the faceup off? Man. I was having too much fun and not paying attention...

    27. I'm looking at my Milk Mocha Nina....and your body there does appear more pink toned than mine. Love the color though.

    28. My new (to me) Temptation Monica arrived yesterday, and she's Sweet Mocha.

She was lucky my FID Bianca wasn't wearing her pink gown right now, and with only five wigs her size to choose from, this is how she ended up....for now....

    29. @Patrice S Handsome trio. I Brandon's square chin.

@MB Lilac This dress is like a painting, every time I see it I notice a new detail.

    30. @Scarlet C - It's hard to tell the resin color from your photo. A lot depends on the lighting, the background, and how new the doll is. Different monitors see colors differently, and there is always the possibility that different batches of resin differ slightly in color, but I think that is milk mocha. None of my sweet mocha girls ever looked that pink. Here is a photo of my milk mocha Rosie and my recently rehomed sweet mocha Monica:

      @MB Lilac - Your Monica looks fabulous. That's a very regal portrait.:love

    31. Thanks for the comparison. Do you mind putting a normal skin tone doll beside them?

    32. So the more pink toned she is the higher chance she is sweet mocha?

    33. I had exactly the same problem - I blushed the face too much, so it does not match the body color. You can see it on the picture below. Well, I decided I will strip the faceup off, but not now as I bought elf Rosie head instead, so Nina's head is currently just floating practise head. I would be afraid that with the movement of the head the blushing on the neck would scratch off after some time.

Wow, congratulations she looks amazing, especially in that gown. Monica is on my wishlist too, she has really interesting face.

    34. @MB Lilac your Monica is gorgeous.

@Scarlet C milk mocha is my favorite resin color for girls and I've found it very consistent in color which is good since I have a number of floating heads. The new hands I just bought matched an older body perfectly. It's definitely darker than normal skin but lighter than sweet mocha. I don't know if you have access to any realskin Iples as the sweet mocha color is very close to that.

This is my sweet mocha Damien with one of my sweet mocha Daisies.

    35. @Patrice S I prefer lighter skin to white. I always thought milk mocha was lighter than normal skin tone. Should have done more research. Will sell her off and order a lighter one.
