MYou 45cm - part II

Feb 20, 2022

    1. Here is a picture of my Daisy, WS, full set and unpainted. So has a lot of fun giving her a face-up today. Still need to do her horns and maybe her hands (not too sure though, as I love playing with my dolls).

    2. Just finished up the faceup on my myou 45 hybrid! Just need to make her some eyes and waiting for wig fiber to arrive. The Myou body is by far my favorite for msds and works really well for a curvier fashion scale bjd when you use a smaller head since it's bigger than a lot of popular msds. Love the double joints too! Plus they are so affordable on taobao! The head is a withdoll vampire rachel in pink.

    3. Which body version is this one? So far I have the Body 3 and Body 2 Old, I wouldn't recommend that B2O as it's single jointed unfortunately.
I wish I knew how to use Taobao xD I would spend so myuch money on Myou stuff there haha

    4. I have the 1/4 girl body 2-1 (that’s how it’s listed on the website). I think it’s just the new version. I would recommend looking into css buy. There’s a little bit of a learning curve but you’re able to order from the Myou taobao store and including shipping you can get these bodies for $115-130 usd including shipping to the USA. There’s lot of good YouTube videos out there on it too!

    5. Oooooohhh, I didn't know Myou has a taobao! Good to know! And I love photos of people's dolls with their cats, sooo cute hahahah!

    6. Did anyone else notice that DDE just added Myou to their website?

    7. It looks like Delia and Michelle SP dolls are available for a little while again according to their weibo page (if translator isn't completely failing me :sweat) Wonder if they'll show up on dealer websites soon too or if this is through taobao only.

Am I the only one who's been refreshing their website and weibo hoping for pictures of their next doll? There's been nothing since Chelses and she was posted early December so I'm curious to see what they're working on. :aeyepop: I'd kill for 1/6sp sized Delia. But I'd also be excited over new 1/4 boy doll. Not that the girls aren't lovely, I'd just like to see another boy since it's been almost two years since Basil was released.

    8. Does anybody have Basil? I looove his company photos but I can't seem to find any owner photos.

Also, what are the boy bodies like? Does the thin boy body have kicky legs like the thin girl body?

I've just wired my thin girl body but it barely helps at all... I definitely wouldn't want to buy a boy body if it has the same issue.

    9. ^ From what I've understood the first version of both girl and boy bodies pose quite well and the others not quite so well. I have their 1/6sp sized boys that have the same skinny body and I find it very awkward to pose. It can sit fine but only stands if I have boots on his feet to keep his ankles from bending, otherwise he'll just flop around uncontrollably. He still might just fold over without any warning like this too though.

In the same breath, does anyone have Arthur? Extra points if you also have Delia and can show them together. I keep thinking his face looks very similar to Delia's but I thought the same of Zuzana (in my head she was just Delia with droopier eyes) until I had those two and realized that actually they're completely different in a lot of ways.

    10. The boy thin body is definitely kicky. I've restrung mine with thicker elastics (a tip stolen from the resinsoul thread) and it helps stabilise them a big, though I still don't trust either my boy or girl thin bodies to stand on their own for too long.
Personally dolls standing is less important than them posing well though, and I find the body takes natural poses so I can deal with occasionally difficult legs

    11. Delia Sp and Michelle Sp are available atacbjd now.

    14. She's such a great sculpt. I love her little smile.

    15. Did anyone order Myou's Chelses? I'm really curious about what the faceup looks like in real life.

    16. Hi! I’m heavily considering putting a Dietrich on layaway, but I haven’t seen much in the way of fullset owners photos and was wondering about the overall quality. Thanks so much in advance!

      • x 1
    17. I personally didn't like her fullset, but that might just be me. I should still have her in her fullset pictures, I think in unboxing.

The issue I had is that it doesn't fit right.. my Dietrich came with the old body ver 2, but even on a new body ver 3, it looks uncomfortable and weird. Her corset eyelets fell out almost immediately, the hat and the gloves are pretty much unusable (barely fit). I love her shoes the most, the skirt is nice too. The necklace doesn't fit at all. The wig... I have no idea what they did to it, but it's very misshapen, and not in a way thats easily fixable

When I compare it to Daisy's fullset, I find Dietrich's disappointing overall. I wish I bought her naked, because in the end the only piece she regularly wears are her shoes. :sweat

    18. Oh no! I hate to hear that, but thank you for telling me that.

    19. To anyone curious about jointed hands which fit Myou, here is a pic of 1/4 white skin Dikadoll jointed hands on a Myou ver. 2 New white skin body. The body is from March '23, but has yellowed already so the color difference is very visible:

And here is a picture of my Teresa with her new jointed hands after blushing. I'm in awe :3nodding: This is thanks to @Epicari 's post with skin and proportions comparison!

    20. sounds bad :o

    21. Myoudoll has reputation of a very fast yellowing. I had seen a pink skin Myou loss her pinkness and turn to peachy-yellow in 1-2years, while another doll from other chinese doll company (purchased at the same time and stored in same condition) barely change her color. We just need to accept it :|

Ps. Myou recently issue new skin that they claim to be very slower in yellowing. It's called Princess White Skin, but only limited to some of their limited dolls atm.

      • x 2
    22. It is! But I am actually glad she is "yellowing" and not "greening" :XD:

Do you have any reference pictures, or where do you have seen this special limited skin color? :o

    23. Dolk JP currently offer Delia in that skin (Limited time and quantity... Will end July17)

    25. so i very recently left a doll meet and ended up with a myou Basil head in light tan, does anyone know of any matches for myou tan skin?

    26. Are you looking for Myou Tan or Myou Coffee matches?
I used to have a Myou Basil in Coffee actually. No longer have him but I do have other Myou coffee dolls still. Resinsoul Light Tan (also called Coffee) is probably the closest color match I've found. Luts Brown can work too but it's slightly darker than Myou Coffee.
For Myou Tan, that's a bit harder to match as it's very orange toned. I haven't personally come across a good match to it yet but Dream Valley or Impldoll might work based on photos I've seen of their tans. That said, I know Resinsoul offers color matching services.

    27. ah right i meant coffee! i might go for luts, i was hoping df-h light tan might be a match but im not sure.

    28. Would anyone be up to measuring the ankle on a ver 2 or ver 3 body? I've been looking for the measurement all over and nowhere lists it. Thank you!

    29. Type 3 is 4.5cm, type 2 is 6cm :)

    30. Wohoo! Thank you so much!

    31. Hi! Would anyone happen to have some pictures of MYou white or normal skin tones next to Shoushou Doll skin tones? I'm hoping to make a hybrid with a Wind head and a Coco Cat body

    32. Feel free to lmk if this has been asked in threads prior, but I wanted to get advice on how to handle the myou slim body (number 2 for boys, iirc its body 3 for girls?). It's the body with the spherical hip joint. I've had a couple of them, currently just the boys body, and ive never been able to get my boy to stand properly without fighting for my life for at least 10 minutes. I've tried hot glue, but it just slides off after a short period. Currently I have silicone rings against the cavity and the joint, but it doesnt quite hold it properly.

Is there a surefire solution to this? My poor boy is crumplinggggg... rip to his standing capabilities.

    33. Do actual sueding with leather, maybe. I bought a piece of thin suede, it was affordable and holds up very well. I've been using that on all my dolls that need some help. You can glue it in with simple craft glue.
Works best if the doll is strung on the tighter side.

    34. I'm excited to finally get to share something! This is my first doll, Delilah. She's a Chelses w/ fullset with pink skin, small chest + type 3 body. She has some odd quirks (her left arm does NOT want to cooperate with posing) but she's beautiful. Her wings apparently attach with a magnet and I don't have anything to attach them with so I left them off here, and she absolutely refused to put her shoes on, but oh well.

    35. Wow those pictures are gorgeous! Her face sculpt goes so well with her outfit and wig. She’s so precious! <3

    36. @FenrisTheirin Wow! She certainly is gorgeous…and that outfit is stunning. So beautiful!

    37. @LikablePlatypus @PoeticSoul thank you!! I don't think I could ask for more for my first doll :)

I should also introduce my OTHER first doll! She doesn't have her own name yet because my partner is naming her but I've been calling her Maggie. She's a Macarena w/ fullset with coffee skin, large chest and also type 3 body. Her fullset is FINICKY but also absolutely beautiful. Definitely prefer not dealing with the crown or the halo though.

    38. Ah yes, the Myou Macarena is a very special doll indeed. So much beauty in such a poignant way. I have one also, and she just amazes me every single day. Yours is equally as beautiful. There’s just something very meaningful and unique about them.:)

    39. I had the same problem, and I even emailed Myou about it. They said "it attaches to the dress" and I thought, 'how though??????????????' I was wondering if it's just me who has a magneted wing with no magnet anywhere else to attach to :sweat

    41. I’m thinking about ordering a Myou Daisy on the V2 new body, but after reading through this thread I’m a little worried about how she might pose and the rapid yellowing/potential greening (I would be ordering the coffee skintone). Does anyone have photos of or experience with how the coffee skintone ages, or experience with the V2 new body? I’m not opposed to hot glue sueding if it helps with the posing, but I’d like to know what I’m getting myself into before I buy. Thank you so much!

    42. I have only had her since March but my Chelses in coffee has not shown any signs of greening yet.
Myou coffee is not really a tan color unless compared with their own NS colors which are pretty light compared to other NS. So I don't think there's much red pigments to loose from it that would make her go green.

    43. For my Delia's v2 body I did end up having to put some work in to get her to pose well. My girl started with super tight stringing that caused her knees to buckle from the slightest movement, so I had to replace it with new string. For extra measure I even added craft aluminum wire in her legs to try and keep them straight. It's still not perfect (for me), as I still don't trust my girl to stand on her own without the help of a stand. I also narrowed down the issue to her hip ball joints being just too smooth so in the future I plan to add in some silicone kips to give more friction/stability.

Despite all that, I still prefer the new v2's double joints over the old v2's single joints any day. The ability to let my girl touch her own face and being able to kneel is a blessing I never knew I needed, and now I don't wanna go back, lol. If posing is important to you then I'd still recommend the new v2 if you also don't mind the potential rework.

    44. I have both the original and new V2 bodies. The newer one is much better but the ball still at the hip sockets is just as bad in it as it is in the first version of the body, sueding it helps a lot, but I wish they had just replaced that with a better joint too.

    45. Thank you all so much! This is really helpful - I’m very new to the BJD community but I feel like I’m learning a lot, and I really appreciate the information. It’s good to know it’s the hips in particular that are finicky on that body, as well as more in general about what resin tones have potential for greening. I think I’ll wait to see if there’s a Christmas/New Year’s event and snag a Daisy around then if so! I’ve been eyeing her since June and haven’t lost my love for her.

    46. I have a Myou doll in coffee skin. I got her in January 2021 and I haven't noticed any changes to the colour, definitely no greening.

I have another Myou in normal skin, had her since 2017. She yellowed quite a bit, there's a very noticeable difference between the exposed and hidden parts (legs vs joints inside the legs).

I love the coffee colour, in the Myou 1/6 thread I posted a couple of photos to show what it looks like a couple of days ago. I think it's such a lovely colour, if I get another Myou in the future I'm definitely ordering with coffee skin.

    47. Hello! I’m looking for pictures of these Myou 45cm dolls! I often see pictures of Delia and Michelle but not these three dolls, hence I’m looking specially for pictures of these three! If anyone could provide them, I’ll be very grateful!

    48. I have a Myou Doll Teresa head which has no face-up yet. Is that also what you're looking for or only dolls with full styling?

    49. hi! Yep I’m looking for any pictures of these dolls no matter what!

    50. Hello :)

    51. For anyone wanting photos of Chelses, I've posted some on insta for now. I'll probably do a post on here once I've gotten more, but hopefully this helps anyone looking for owner photos!

    52. I have 2 MYOU 1/4 dolls on the version 2-II body that arrived back in December, and for the most part, I absolutely love them. But in all honesty, these girls just do not stand. Their legs are constantly buckling under them and have a ragdoll quality to them, it takes several minutes to attempt balancing them, and even my secondhand dolls that desperately need restringing can stand easier than they can. This isn't a problem when they're on their shelf as I keep them sitting while displayed, but I like going on photo excursions with my dolls and it's hard to work with them when they're falling all over the place. For the most part, they feel too loose, but their heads always snap to the side and lean at an angle which makes them feel too tight?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone with more experience than myself has any advice for me. Should they be restrung, or is this just an unfortunate quality of their body sculpt?

    53. It sounds like the knot in the elastic is stuck somewhere if the head snaps but legs are loose. It's a little hard to adjust that without restringing unfortunately (you don't need new elastic necessarily, just taking apart and putting it back together better), but if you're mainly annoyed by the head rather than the legs, sueding the neck hole will at least stabilise the neck issue. If the tension is fine overall but the legs buckle a lot, you might want to consider sizing up the elastic thickness for more stability in the long run.

      • x 1
    54. Thanks for the tip! I'm okay with the head even if it's annoying because I can usually get it to work, but the legs are horrible. They're very kicky, constantly collapsing beneath both dolls, and won't stay straight for long :sweat Maybe I'll try adjusting their current strings and if that doesn't work, I'll size up the string. Their arms are perfect, but the legs.....

    55. I have a doll that has similar leg issues - I finally restrung with a bit wider elastic than normal for the doll size a few days ago and it's as if she never randomly buckled her knees before - such solid posing all of a sudden! I feel like sometimes the string channels are so large they sabotage holding poses a bit.

If all else fails, you can also wire the legs! That should keep them from doing all kinds of unexpected movements.

      • x 1
    56. My friend with v2 did restringing, sueding and wiring before she could get hers to stand. My doll with v3 has this problem too but I just bought her a stand. I have read several complains about this from other owners. This seems to be a common problem with these girls. Restringing alone may not help.

    57. I have a v3 body, and restringing alone does not do much. You will probably also have to suede and wire the doll. Unfortunately, I think with MYou it's mostly an engineering problem (I'm thinking maybe with the ball at the hips, or there's not enough friction?), rather than bad stringing. :/

      • x 1
    58. Grateful for the suggestions because my Michelle doll does the same thing, which is why I‘m undecided about keeping her. The tension seems ok at first but she collapses like a Victorian maiden on the fainting couch. I hope you figure out a solution!

    59. Lol, very accurate description. I have handled plenty of floppy dolls, and the myou legs don't feel floppy, until you try to put any weight on them. But they don't behave like tight legs either. When my girl is supported by her stand, I can pose her legs without them snapping into other positions or relaxing out of place. That's why I also suspect it's an engineering issue.
