Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 2

Dec 3, 2017

    1. I started on touching up Metato's chipped paint on his knees, this is the second thin layer of paint, one more should do it. Dark titanium white paint is almost the same as the paint on him, with a little pink blushing like they used on the rest of his body to finish up will really look good.

    2. I am probably ridiculously off-base on this, but . . . I wonder whether there could be any connection to the short-lived Korean company Fantasia-Doll? Fantasia-Doll called their line "Fly Me to the Moon," and while I know "moon" and "to the moon" are common language, it just seems like a BIT of a coincidence. That said, I can't claim that I see any family resemblance between the Fantasia Elder faces or bodies and these lovely tinies.

    3. Finished the most elaborate outfit I've ever made, being worn by Yumiko, Lume Elin.

    4. She looks lovely!

    5. Yumiko is a beautiful Lumelight *sigh* so sad when they ceased being made.

    6. Hey there, fellow tiny enthusiasts! I have a very random ask! Does anyone happen to have a photo of a Batchix Clever Little with a Granado 30cm boy? The Clevers just have the tiniest heads, it's hard to know how anyone will look next to them XD

    7. I don't have a photo (and gave the one i was babysitting back to his owner), but I have had both in my possession and I think they would look VERY odd next to each other.

    8. Made a better wig for Gray and trimmed it into shape. It came out pretty good.

His legs have been returned to him so he is sitting happily with Treasure.

    9. Oh man, I love this wig!! It's so much fun.

    10. Ha ha, welp, the one-year anniversary of my Dollshe 1/6 Bernard order has passed! I went into my little list of outstanding orders and corrected 'ordered late September' to 'ordered late September 2018'.

I knew well enough what I was getting into, ordering from Dollshe, but it's still kind of awe-inspiring to see it in person. :sweat

      • x 2
    11. Wow, awe-inspiring is certainly one way of putting it... I guess I'm glad I didn't cave and order one, because I would be crushed if I waited over a year and he was wildly out of scale with the rest of my mature tinies... I hope they start shipping soon!

Edit: This is for @CaityJay, but if this helps you re: size comparisons, while I never did take pictures of my Granado boys next to my friend's Clever Little, I do have a bunch of comparison photos of them to other dolls I have. Put them below the cut. IMHO, even though Granado heads are smaller than the others, the Clever Littles would still look sort of odd because the rest of their proportions match their EVEN SMALLER heads. Hope it helps! (I have an off-topic doll in some of them too, for comparison.)

    12. Ugh, Oh my god Myou Alan would look so cute with my incoming Irrealdoll Enoki.:drool I don't think I can resist.:shudder

    13. @Gallye I've been waiting 11 months for my Dollshe guy... I hope they come home soon! :eusa_pray Though I have two more Dollshe dolls on my wishlist. :doh

Does anyone have any comparison pics of SisterFox dolls with other dolls this scale? They look smaller but its hard to tell.

    14. I have SisterFox dolls and others. I will try to get a picture but I can at least do some comparisons.

    15. Someone asked how the MiracleDoll YanXi fit wit the 1/6 mature guys. Here is a sampling of my guys:

    16. Thank you so much for the picspam!! I had a response from someone on IG who shared a pic of Clever Little with a 30cm Granado and, as you predicted, the answer is a big ol' NOPE :XD: Someday... Now I just want all the tinies in your pics, tho... I've been tempted by Xagadoll Ken before, and the Maskat tiny is so beautiful! (Single-piece torso is a deal-breaker for me, but such a pretty sculpt.) Thanks again!

    17. She is adorable!!!!!! I love the little Santa suit!

    18. Thanks for the comparison @nancy_schroeder_ca ! I think Sister Fox dolls are beautiful, but they'd be too out of scale for my liking. There aren't enough women in this size that aren't innocent and sweet.

    19. I still need to do a comparison of the gorls, but there is a very wide variation of real people.

    20. @CaityJay Lucky for you maskcat is revamping that body and the new one will have a 2 part torso!

I can't wait for it myself.

    21. Nice!! That's exciting.

Aaaah, the Sister Fox boys are so small! <3 Now I need to see one with a Clever Little, tho :XD: (sigh, the life of loving a pinhead)

    22. Mostly just showing off--I made Graves a shirt for Halloween and I'm really pleased with how it came out. It's my first time trying a collar at this size, and I don't sew with knits often in general.

    23. @Idoru you did a great job! Collars are so hard. I like the fabric too.

      • x 1
    24. @Idoru I agree with @kurogane you did a great job.

 I fail at t-shirt collars every time.

      • x 1
    25. @SteamWitch why are they so hard!? No matter what scale! Ugh, and my absolute least favorite is sleeves. It’s the gathering to make them fit. I always end up with lopsided gathers. :sigh

    26. Gathering is the absolute worst!! And thank you both! I did actually cheat a little--I hate folding the collar piece in half so I cut the hem of a camisole down to size. :p Sewing... hard. This scale has forced me to learn.

    27. @kurogane ikr, I've been sewing for 50 years and t-shirt collars are my nemesis. My tricks with sleeves is either a jillion pins or basting. With pins, I start with the middle and the ends; then keep splitting the difference adding a pin in the middle of both sides until the whole thing looks like a wrinkled porcupine. Basting the sleeve gets a similar treatment with fewer pins.
@Idoru I used to sew for my Barbie dolls back in the early Barbie days. Maybe because I was more nimble it didn't seem as hard, but Barbie never wore t-shirts, lol.

      • x 3
    28. Great job @Idoru! At this scale I have to pin, baste, and then hand sew, because my machine chews up the fabric otherwise. I'm amazed you found stripes in such a good scale, too.

    29. That looks great @Idoru !
I use the 'tons of pins' method when sewing on sleeves. Making doll clothes out of old clothes lets me use pre-existing hems if I plan what I'm making right. Though I haven't sewn with jersey that much.

    30. There are three new mature tinies from Xagadoll!! Linglan, Linglu (closed eyes) and Yilia. They're soooo gorgeous... I'm in love! All three of these ladies are on the new 32cm girl body developed with Asleep Eidolon.

      • x 5
    31. Wow the new Xaga girls are pretty! :love
I can't tell from the pictures if they have double jointed knees, but they do have double jointed elbows and rotational thigh joints, and my Xagadoll Ken has double jointed knees. So it would be really odd if they have single jointed knees. Someone could contact the distributor and see if they know.

    32. On this page, it says the body is double jointed, and in one picture you can see the knee slightly bent.

    33. I can tell you from just having recieved the new body that it is not true double jointed! It is a cup joint, not a peanut joint. The leg cannot double backwards.

Here is a picture on my instagram. This is as far as the legs will bend! (Last slide)

EDIT: Here is a picture showing the jointing exactly! @Monaudious

    34. Thanks for the photos @nattherat ! The knee joints still bend farther than those of my single jointed dolls. I like Yilia, but I wish Xagadoll provided blank photos.

Added: It's been a week less than a year since I ordered from Dollshe... I knew I was in for a long wait when I ordered, but I'm hoping it won't be too much longer. I also hope I can order two more once I have him in my hands... Good things come to those who wait, right?:sweat

    35. You're welcome!

I'm not a fan of cup joints myself (I started out with Resinsoul bodies back in the day and personally single-jointed would be better than that), but these are among the better cup joints I've seen, and the thigh joints do make up for some of it!

    36. Thank you for the pictures! That knee is really interesting. Now I want to play with one even more! I feel that my other Xagadolls have pretty good posing so hmmmmmm!

    37. @nattherat Thank you for the pictures. ^^ I've never seen a cup joint like this before and it looks like it has about the same mobility as the single joints on my Lillycat Chibi Lana.

    38. You did a fantastic job.

    39. Idoru,
I really like the shirt you made.

    40. My Auber shipped and I was all excited, but now he's held up in customs because UPS claims that Soom didn't provide an adequate description of the item. I think it just says "Doll." Which is accurate. I've never had this problem before. This year is turning out to be my personal bad shipping year for dolls (first Abby disappears into USPS NY and now UPS is holding things up!). Now, I have to wait to be contacted by the "brokerage team."

This all started with an email that was suspicious (had an attachment and very little info about why they were contacting me... did not even say they were part of the UPS customs team in the body of the email (just some title under the person's name) - only said they had my package and wanted to know if it contained wood particle products - did not say that it had an inadequate description) and it took contacting UPS on twitter for them to say, "oh, yeah, we did send you an email."

If UPS wanted a response from me, they should have a tracking status that says they sent me an email - or, better yet, have a portal on their website for these kinds of communications. There is so much fraud nowadays, it's ridiculous that they send emails from unknown people. I thought I was getting a shakedown attempt.

    41. Wow that's rough @ohsi! I would also be wildly suspicious of an email like that. Ugh. I hope this is all resolved swiftly for you, that's so frustrating.

    42. Several of my dolls have been identified as "plastic doll" lately. And stickers or messages that say "contains no lithium batteries" are also appearing!

    43. It seems to be sorted out (maybe) now. I contacted UPS using several different methods (twitter apparently gets the best response), so hopefully it all gets smoothed over without any confusion. Once I got confirmation that they actually sent me the email, I replied and got a notice back that they are processing it. The waiting game continues.

I order a fair amount of overseas doll stuff (clothes, eyes, etc) without any issues, so I'm really surprised that I've had two shipping issues/mini crises now (both for the same size dolls!). Oh well. I'll just be on pins and needles again until he arrives in my state.

    44. I got the shipping notice for my Auber too, he is in Chicago atm. No email from Soom but when I checked my order it said shipping and had the tracking number listed.

EDIT: He is in the Houston sorting house, so I'm wondering if it's blackhole season (that sorting house is randomly mega delayed) and if I really will see him tomorrow as his ETA suggests.

    45. My Soom Auber arrived a day early :o:whee:. Quickest delivery ever. He is gorgeous and they did a great job on his faceup. Hubby says I could do as well but I know better.
His name is Linzi. I will do some blushing on him before I get him dressed. I will make a custom wig for him since all the ones I have won't fit due to those lovely pointy ears.

My Auber arrived today, too, but I haven't unpacked him yet.

    48. Thank you @nancy_schroeder_ca I'm so tickled. :blush
Thank you and Congrats :apresent: @ohsi I couldn't wait to open the box.
He is my last doll ordered and delivered, I don't have anymore planned, but we know how that goes.:aangel::evil:

    49. Ohmi's here! He's lovely. This is my favorite pic from the box opening:

Any advice on where to find clothes to fit him?

      • x 3
    50. He looks so cool in grey! Congrats! @ohsi

They wear Ken clothes, but the Mattel brand are mostly made of rough fabric, you can find some better ones on Amazon, eBay etc. They wear 1/6 action figure & GI Joe clothes but you will have to open the cuffs and collar which is pretty easy. Most Action Figure pants are tight at the bottom so you may have to open those too, though I found these jeans only need to be taken in at the crotch if you want them to fit better. The waist is a bit big but the belt works well to solve that.

    51. @ohsi They look great together!

    52. @SteamWitch Thank you! I'll get him some temporary Ken clothes while I find the right stuff. Just ordered a 1/6 action figure set with jacket, shirt, and pants from a store in Hong Kong, so hopefully they fit! I can sew a little, but whole outfits are a bit much for me... I don't know how you do it!

@shadow_takatori They are too adorable, right? That photo was basically an accident in posing and it's quite perfect in attitude, especially from Evie. It's really wonderful to have these two together finally.

      • x 1
    53. They look WONDERFUL together! Congrats to you both! I've also found that tops meant to fit Fashion Royalty Homme dolls work well--the pants less so, the FR boys have wide hips. Clear-lan is a good source for fashionable basics! I have found that Ken pants are often too short, but if you can make it look cuffed it works (I have some sweatpants that I like putting my Rick in). Many things for OB27 slim men work too.

      • x 1
    54. @ohsi your two look great together! What company is Evie from? I'm sure you've said, but I don't remember.

In terms of clothes, I make most of my dolls clothes myself, butI have some Mattel Ken stuff that works. Some of the shoes even fit. Sk8 brand shoes fit, but they're a bit big.

    55. @Leo Pheonix

      Evie is a Rumpeldoll Abby.

I'll look at those shoes - it's the one thing I haven't ordered to try yet. I really appreciate everyone's advice!

    56. I got Linzi's wig made and cut and made his pants today. I'm crazy about him. :D
